@Fizzybubblegumbottles its lucky they’re cute isn’t it? Otherwise nobody would put up with them!

Fizzybubblegumbottles · 10/08/2022 14:19

@SamanthaVimes yep 🀣 Apparently it should get better by 12 weeks but that seems like a lifetime away right now but I know it will soon be here!

SamanthaVimes · 10/08/2022 14:42

@Fizzybubblegumbottles yes 12 weeks feels so far away but you’re right, it’ll be here before we know it!

KizboBaggins · 10/08/2022 14:59

@SamanthaVimes how old is your DS now? I feel like we're headed in that direction... he didn't go down all morning

SamanthaVimes · 10/08/2022 15:06

@KizboBaggins he was 3 weeks on Monday

KizboBaggins · 10/08/2022 15:11

@SamanthaVimes ah yeah my boy was 3 weeks yesterday - I definitely think he's heading towards nap avoidance πŸ™„

strawberrysummer19 · 10/08/2022 15:33

Can someone help me translate my iron levels please? I have to make an appointment to discuss with a DR if I want an explanation
They've given me a print out but can't work it out!! They just said it's normal range

My iron levels were so low following birth (76) and required 2 blood transfusions 3 weeks ago

My midwife's arranged bloods to have my levels levels checked to ensure they are on the rise and they rose from 76, to 88 after the blood transfusion and then 100 and then 124 when having bloods done

If someone can translate and help thank you!

X

I also have haemoglibin levels which are 125g/l on the form ? X

AppleTree16 · 10/08/2022 15:44

I saw this today and it worked for us! Got an absolutely ginormous burp out. Thought it might be useful for the ones struggling with wind.

@strawberrysummer19 if this helps when I was pregnant my iron levels dropped to 100 and my midwife told me that was borderline anemia and I had to have iron tablets. I can't help you as to what a good level is though but above 100 is positive in any case.

Mattieandmummy · 10/08/2022 17:08

@SamanthaVimes yep another I only sleep on you baby here. Agreed during the day is ok, I've had to pop her in the sling although it makes me a bit nervous as she's only a month old but it's hard going at night. Luckily my DH is around in the morning to do breakfast with my first whilst baby and me have a lie in to catch up a bit.

strawberrysummer19 · 10/08/2022 17:24

@Mattieandmummy thank you yes I remember them saying they would like it to be 100 but I'm just confused as to what my iron levels actually are as the 125 is the haemoglobin levels which aren't same as an iron test but I suppose it's good they are 125 and good it's all within range I guess

KizboBaggins · 10/08/2022 17:41

@AppleTree16 I'm not sure I did it right but I gave it a go and DS did a big ol' burp! Probably just twisted it out of him lol poor thing. Settled after though so thank you!

Has anyone got any recommendations for good breastfeeding tops/dresses/jumpsuits?

Everything I’m seeing online looks really frumpy and drab. I’m not ready to transition to full mumsy look yet.

I already have a large chest and now the milk has made them ridiculous! I’m just after some nice clothes so I can breastfeed in public/in company without having to fully whap the baps out.

KizboBaggins · 10/08/2022 19:37

@JNGO21 I joined the "Can I Breastfeed In It? UK" Facebook group and they've got some good recommendations!

Apparently the Milky tee company are good and Frugi have nice nursing clothes but both can be pricey.. I also have some from H&M mama range from my first but currently browsing sewing patterns so I can make my own!

SamanthaVimes · 10/08/2022 21:17

@JNGO21 Sainsbury’s have a breastfeeding friendly section on their website which is handy

Juno Jacks is good but expensive (I got a hoody with discrete boob zips from there last time that I lived in all winter)

I don’t have any myself but have heard good things about b-shirts

I try to find things that aren’t bf specific (as they’re usually expensive) but I can still access boobs in

anything you can do β€œone up one down” in (you wear a vest top under a normal top. Normal top goes up, boob comes out over vest top

anything with buttons

I usually go for something scoop necked so I can flop a boob out but mine aren’t massive and I appreciate that isn’t comfortable for everyone

SamanthaVimes · 10/08/2022 21:20

@Mattieandmummy at least it’s not only me, sorry your baby hasn’t got the memo about sleep yet either though! Hopefully they figure it out soon!

Ive made a real effort this afternoon to try and help him shift some wind in case that’s what’s disturbing him (we’ve had some terrifying farts πŸ˜‚)

NamelessBaby1 · 10/08/2022 21:56

@JNGO21 I've.goy a couple of dresses from Vinted that are JoJo Maman make which are pretty handy, but it would also be good to get some other tops. I have the same issue with being on the larger boobed side already, I don't mind when it's just family around but im not sure how I'll feel about feeding in public as I'm so self conscious of my giant boobs flapping around.

My baby has been very unsettled during the day the past few days, not sure if it's just with it being a bit warmer or a slight change in her routine, but so far she still seems to be sleeping ok at night thankfully! Just frustrating having to drop everything at a moment's notice to feed her yet again , feel like I can't get anything else done!

KizboBaggins · 11/08/2022 15:28

Has anyone else's little one slept loads today? I've checked his temperature and it's fine. He seems content. He's fed and had wet and dirty nappies but he's just been sleeping pretty much consistently since 10am. Woken up for a few quick feeds and nappy changes but not really staying awake πŸ˜• can't win can we - worry when they don't sleep and worry when they do!

Lianna93 · 11/08/2022 16:23

@KizboBaggins total opposite for me, my little one won't nap for more than 10/15 minutes at a time right now 😩

strawberrysummer19 · 11/08/2022 16:25

@KizboBaggins could it be the heat?
It's sooo hot in Kent - I've found my lo has fed more often today - pretty much not making 2 hrs when normally it's 3ish hours just seems like I've constantly done bottles !

She's had sleeps here and there but has been at times unsettled but nothing too bad but putting it down to this heat x

kiwi17 · 11/08/2022 16:50

@KizboBaggins We took him for his first swim this morning, he fell asleep in the pool and I woke him up about 3 hours later πŸ˜‚ part of me thinks we will probably pay for that long nap tonight though!

ChinChilly · 11/08/2022 16:51

@KizboBaggins @strawberrysummer19 my LO has been sleeping quite abit today also feeding every 2ish hours. HV mentioned it to me last week about the frequent feeding in the hot weather she said they will probably feed more in the hot weather and to just go with it

ChinChilly · 11/08/2022 17:52

Urm baby just rolled onto her side by herself and fell asleep, I mean she looks super comfortable and is snoozing away next to me on the settee but should they be able to roll onto her side this young (3 weeks) bit worried about her doing it during the night with SIDS and all 🫣
