@thatismahogany aww that’s lovely you’ve been able to tell people now, it’s so special isn’t it?! We’ve told most people now. I felt a bit forced to tell colleagues which upset me but we’ve since told all immediate family and close friends and will tell others as and when we see them as it’s been so lovely to do it in person 💕

that sucks the fibroid hasn’t totally gone yet, I jist assumed it had after all the pain you had been in. What is it they’ll be checking for on the scans? Size and position? Nice to know you’ve got a couple of scans coming up?! The midwife said to me I’d have a scan at 28weeks and then every 2 weeks until baby is born which seems a lot? That was before the placenta position was know. I think it was due to worry if the placenta detaching. I feel I understand everything at the time but then come away with loads of questions and spend the next few weeks stressing🤷‍♀️ Do you have a book or anything that talks you through everything? So lovely you’re feeling your little girl move can your partner feel her too? X

@EmzieMurf1987 congrats on passing the 24week hurdle- must feel amazing to be one step closer? I’m so desperate to get there too xxx have you let anyone else feel your little one kick yet? I had 2 uninvited bump touches the other day- felt very much little someone was just patting a podgy tummy too me 😆Thsnk you for the pillow notes too. I’m going to order one I’ve seen today and give it a go 🤞🏻

Agapanthus13 · 18/11/2022 14:38

@ChristmasJumpers how many weeks are you now? I didn’t feel anything until day of 20weeks, ie Tuesday morning and not felt ‘loads’ since and I def have to keep any eye out for them. Hopefully yours will get stronger over the next few days, it’s so special to finally be feeling something 💕

ChristmasJumpers · 18/11/2022 15:43

@Agapanthus13 I'm 21+1 and think I'm feeling them more often now but they've gone to being gentle "was that the baby?" type feelings after being quite strong one's at first! It is so lovely to feel her though

@Agapanthus13 yes it is lovely telling people. Everyone's been so happy for us, particularly the ones who know about the IVF. Sorry it felt a bit forced at work, it's not nice to share what is such important news and not get the response you expect!

For the fibroid I believe they will check the size (not sure what they can do about it though?!) but I think the doctor was suggesting that it may make it hard for the midwife to get accurate measurements, so it would be more of a growth scan to check the baby. Fibroid is not near the cervix so they're not concerned about that. And that does seem like a lot of scans but I'm sure it will provide a lot of reassurance, and how lovely you get to see the baby so much! My trust has apparently done away with the 28W scan except in very few cases so it will just be a 32W scan now. I'm just asking questions if needed, no book or I'd do nothing but read up on everything that could go wrong lol.

And yes he has felt her kick a few times! She will often stop as soon as I tell him to feel her kicking, but she was really going at it last night when I am was trying to sleep so he felt a few kicks 😊Have you felt a few more movements?

@PMAmostofthetime welcome to the thread and congratulations! How are you getting on in your pregnancy?

JessLaw96 · 25/11/2022 20:50

@Agapanthus13 yes I have been feeling things for a while but it was confirmed around 16 weeks what those feelings where! Definitely getting more frequent and stronger now being 19+4! So happy to see your doing well! How many weeks are you now?

glad to hear everyone is doing great!

EmzieMurf1987 · 09/12/2022 11:45

Hi Ladies,

hope you are all getting on well as it’s been a bit quiet on the chat recently!

officially in the third trimester now and can’t believe it’s only 12 weeks until little one arrives unless they make an early appearance of course 😂. Things are deffo starting to ramp up with more appointments now so feel that with Christmas added into the mix time will fly by! Also on countdown to start my maternity leave too! Only 6 weeks left then il be off for 15 months 😍.

baby has definitely settled into a pattern of regular movement now too with one of their favourite times to party being 3-5am 😂😂 I feel like they are preparing me for sleepless nights already 😂😂

hope everyone is well xx

Coops0406 · 10/12/2022 07:58

@EmzieMurf1987 congrats on being in the 3rd trimester! I hope you are well. Time is definitely flying, your baby will be here before you know it!
When did you first feel movements? I'm over 21 weeks and feeling nothing yet, although my placenta is anterior so maybe that's blocking me feeling anything. Luckily I saw him/her moving quite a bit during the 20 week scan but really hoping I can start to feel something soon! Doesn't help with people always asking "can you feel them yet?" 🤦🏾‍♀️

Hope everyone else is okay!

EmzieMurf1987 · 10/12/2022 09:31

Morning @Coops0406 hope all went well with your scan, did u find out sex? Or are you opting for a surprise? We are having a surprise 💛 and I’m actually finding it quite fun having ppl guess 😂 seems to be a 50/50 split so non the wiser 😂.

I also have an anterior placenta but I had definite movement from about 19 weeks which became quite regular by 22/23 weeks. I do feel quite lucky though as they say it is more difficult to feel movement with the placenta in this position and not to worry before 24 weeks. A friend of mine also had an anterior placenta and still only felt flutters at 29 weeks. So I think it’s also down to the individual person too. It’s great you saw bab moving on the scan though! 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼 for movement for you soon as it’s so magical.

glad to hear you are getting on well otherwise and here’s to having hopefully an uneventful rest of our pregnancies 🙏🏼🙏🏼

Gracie2021 · 10/12/2022 10:28

Hi all, sorry I've been terrible at posting here and meaning to pop back in for weeks now. We isolated through back to back treatments and for the first trimester so tbh I've been out living life for the first time since Covid hit. Had our 21+1 anatomy scan this week, all clear thank God and found out we're having a little boy so all feeling very real. And yesterday felt kicks with my hand outside the belly for the first time. Loving this part of pregnancy although the constant reflux and heartburn aren't as much fun. Didn't feel too much movement at all til the last couple weeks @Coops0406 and then it seems to have all come on in a flurry so hopefully will be the same for you.

That's gone SO quickly @EmzieMurf1987 can't believe you're into the third trimester. Exciting times. I'm trying to enjoy this time now because from January to April in work will be extremely busy so I know the third trimester is going to fly by for me. Are you starting to pick up any pieces for once baby comes?

A very belated welcome @PMAmostofthetime 👋

Agapanthus13 · 10/12/2022 15:15

Hi all lovely To hear your updated and that everyone seems to be progressing well. Congrats on the 3rd trimester @EmzieMurf1987 it certainly seems to have come round fast.

@Coops0406 i didn’t feel anything until about 20/21 weeks (can’t remember the exact day) but weirdly felt it from the outside first and then tuned in to feeling inside. Again I have an anterior placenta but mine is very low so I feel the high up kicks but nothing down low. Hope you’re getting on ok otherwise?

@Gracie2021 awww congrats on finding out you’re having a boy 💙 had you guys taken guesses beforehand?

@JessLaw96 @thatismahogany how are you both getting on?

has anyone else decided on when to start maternity leave? I was thinking 4weeks before my due date on the basis that they said they won’t let me go more than 1week before my due date ie 3weeks of mat leave pre-baby but when I told my mum she seemed really negative at the idea (which is very unlike her) and so now questioning it!! Would be lovely to know what you guys are all thinking Xx

EmzieMurf1987 · 10/12/2022 17:01

@Gracie2021 oh congrats on your little boy!! 💙 did you have a feeling? Glad to hear you are making to most of that second trimester energy too, hope you have been doing lots of nice things. Seeing movement from the outside is so surreal isn’t it - I see my tummy moving and still can’t believe there is a little human in there making all these kicks and punches 😍

To be honest I’m not buying much for baby, I have a couple of baby grows and vests for hospital but plan on doing a next day delivery for clothes once baby is here so I know size and gender 😂. I have all the big purchases done so, next to me cot, pushchair and nursery all done. Just need to order the car seat so that’s the last big purchase. Then it’s just little bits to get and from January I will add nappies to my weekly shop - but again it’s hard without knowing size! I feel like baba will be big but until they r here you never really know do you.

@Agapanthus13 how lovely to hear from you, glad your getting on well. In regards to mat leave I already have mine sorted now so my last day is at 33+1, then I have 4 weeks of holidays to use then my maternity pay starts at 37 weeks. To be honest I’m struggling now as I work 12.5 hour shifts in one of the busiest A and E’s in the country so there is no way I could physically work till nearer my due date. Did you ask your mum why she’s being negative about you going off then? Personally I want the last few weeks to be stress free and to pamper myself - eg get a pedicure etc and enjoy those last weeks/days before baby is here. I suppose everyone’s situation is different and it also depends on how physical your job is too but I think you just have to listen to your body and what you want to do. You actually never know what will happen in those final weeks.

ChristmasJumpers · 10/12/2022 19:19

@Coops0406 I have an anterior placenta too and got my very first kick at 21+2. No flutters or anything beforehand, just a great big kick! They're still hit and miss but I get at least one or two kicks per day now at 24 weeks, usually when I settle down for bed.

@EmzieMurf1987 wow congratulations, its crazy that we have people reaching the 3rd trimester already!

DH and I have been buying a lot and have had a lot of hand me downs and small contributions from each of our mums too so we just have a small few bits to buy now. Mostly a big list of things for the hospital bag!

Has anyone decorated the nursery yet? That's next for us between Christmas & new year

Happycroc · 10/12/2022 20:04

Hey everyone!

Glad to hear you’re all going well! Our little one is kicking away now, DH even got to feel it the other day which was nice to include him!

Unfortunately DC1 had a sickness bug on Sunday night which I had by Monday night and then I spent 24 hours being sick and laid up in bed. I was really worried about dehydration as I had already been told just the week before that there were ketones in my urine from being slightly dehydrated. I’ve drunk a lot of lucozade this week, still struggling with food but not sick anymore.

we had our anomaly scan week before last and everything was looking good, although the sonographer kept telling us both how uncooperative our baby was, I was hoping for just one cooperative DC!! I also had a consultant appointment to check my cervix as I had a LLETZ procedure last summer and that was all ok. I asked if I will be “allowed” to go overdue and she said as this is a natural pregnancy they’ll let me go over this time. To be honest I was a bit disappointed because I liked the induction, it was fast and furious but it was much easier to plan around!

Regarding Mat leave, with DC1 I started my mat leave on my EDD, and then I was 2 weeks overdue (spontaneous pregnant so slightly different). I was working a desk job though so I felt comfortable enough to keep working. I’m glad I did work that late because it was so boring being so pregnant and basically just sitting round at home being uncomfortable and feeling huge! But like @EmzieMurf1987 says, it depends on your work and how you’re feeling.

We’ve got everything baby related from DCs1&2 but we have just bought ourselves a new car because we needed something big enough to fit 3 car seats!! After joking that this one was “cheap” because we saved on the cost of IVF I said it’s probably worked out to be the most expensive now!!

Agapanthus13 · 10/12/2022 20:33

@EmzieMurf1987 gosh, I don’t know how you’ve managed that during your pregnancy, are you not shattered? Glad to hear you’ve managed to get your mat leave arranged and have a date you’re working too, must feel great to be on count down? And hope your colleagues are being understanding (although I guess in such a high pressure environment you prob run on autopilot?!)
No, I didn’t ask my mum, perhaps I’m jist being extra sensitive atm, but made me feel like I was being lazy suggesting it. I’m still vomiting quite a bit so I feel like our house is a mess & life admin are massively behind - I was thinking to take a few week jist to get on top of things. I’m soo impressed you’re so organised having brought all your bits etc. we’ve only jist started researching what we need. We’re in a 2bed house and had hoped to move before bambino’s arrival but that’s looking pretty slim now. Think we’ll start shopping the the new year.

@ChristmasJumpers that’s so exciting, what are you thinking to do for the nursery? Have you brought furniture to go in there too? I follow so many different accounts on Instagram and there are so many lovely ideas.

@Happycroc poor you that totally sucks. Hope you’re starting to feel a little better? There are soo many bugs going around atm and some really nasty ones. Hope you’re able to rest up well and properly recover, although difficult with 2little ones I bet? Did you find out the gender at your scan or are you going for a surprise too?

anyone else half watching the football & half researching baby bits?!

Happycroc · 10/12/2022 20:47

definitely just half watching @Agapanthus13 ! It’s a bit tense though! I’m just going through Xmas pressies and trying to decide what else we need…

PENALTY!!! (hahaha)

yes, not much rest here, DC2 has also hit a horrendous sleep regression and hasn’t slept well in nearly 2 months now so we are all exhausted

HE MISSED?!!!!!

we didn’t find out, we have one of each (both of which we didn’t find out about either) we’re just so happy to have our bonus baby (even though it was a bit of a shock!)

Gracie2021 · 10/12/2022 22:34

What a week @Happycroc but so glad you're on the mend and that your scan went well. Ours was uncooperative as well. There was lots of moving around and poking him with the ultrasound scanner to try see what he was. Hopefully not a sign of things to come. That's a pricy baby but nice to have the new car for all the chauffeuring. You'll be kept busy.

Thanks a mil @EmzieMurf1987 @Agapanthus13 I had a feeling it was a boy all along mainly because I wasn't that sick but 50:50 chance of being right so doubt there's anything in it. Emzie you sound SO organised. I haven't let myself do anything before the anatomy scan but am going to get pretty much everything second hand except the car seat. Got a stroller and some miscellaneous bits this evening that I'll collect over the next few days and have an offer in for a cot. Feels good to start ticking things off the list.

@Agapanthus13 I think I'll be finishing up 19 days before EDD if things go to plan but I have a desk job that isn't too physically demanding.

I think I'm a bit unusual on the nursery front @ChristmasJumpers as we won't do one yet. Baby will be in with us for the first few months so I figure we'll have fun with that while on Mat leave.

Coops0406 · 11/12/2022 10:47

@EmzieMurf1987 hubby wants a surprise so we'll be waiting! I keep saying he when I talk about bump! Everyone else thinks girl! Do you have a feeling about yours?
I have weird twinges but I think that's more the stretching of ligaments...nothing that I can definitely say that was baby. Hopefully soon 🤞🏾

@Gracie2021 congrats on the little blue 💙 so good you are enjoying life! I think it's a nice stage in pregnancy...not to big to do things and I don't know about you but as soon as 12 weeks hit, that exhaustion suddenly lifted too!
So exciting to feel kicks on the outside!! I wish my little one would hurry up and give be a good boot! Lol.
I have just started with heartburn! Not fun!

@Agapanthus13 is your mum thinking sooner for your Mat leave? I'm due on 20th and will finish work around the school Easter holidays...just fits in with a natural work break I think.
When you feel it from the outside, can you see it? I'm fascinated!

@ChristmasJumpers I try to look out at nighttime but nothing that I can say is definitely baby. I was reading about someone who is nearly due and only just feeling things inside but nothing on the outside for her partner to feel. We have booked another private scan in January at 26 weeks then nhs will be scanning me from 32 weeks so at least that will put my mind at ease...obsessed with watching the baby on the scans!!
How great are hand me downs! The only thing we have ordered new is nursery furniture, the rest of it has come from my brother and friends. And we bought an I candy pram set from fb marketplace for £150!! Such a good place to find some quality bargains!

@Happycroc sounds like a bit of a horrible time for you! Hope you feel better soon!
I feel like most babies aren't co-operative in the scans, it's like they know 😂

We're trying to get as much sorted as we can as getting married in 2024 and once baby comes I'm guessing we'll be even slower at trying to arrange it! So from now to April we need to sort the main things for the wedding...and when I say we, I mean I 😩 hubby is very laid back so if I left it to him we would have nothing sorted, or he would go waaay over budget!
