@mamaof2girls don't worry. I'm more behind than you at 35 weeks!

Also got to essentially get two nurseries sorted. One permimant one at my house, and a temporary one at my mother's house so she can help during first two weeks after c section.

Little over a week until I get a date for the c section. Curious to know when it will be.

July seems to be zooming. Not far until we're half way through. I predict we might get a few arrivals the last two weeks of july.

Cakecakecheese · 10/07/2022 13:02

Had the monitoring. Baby is fine but they're worried about my blood pressure so they're sticking me on pills again and I have to come back tomorrow. Luckily the MAFAU is nice and cool so it's a good place to hide from the heat!

@mamaof2girls I’m 33 weeks on Tuesday, I thought I had a really long time, so I’ve been heavily procrastinating getting ready, but due to complications and slow growth they might go in now at any point really, but hoping to make 34-36 weeks. He’s small so very mobile still, flipping up and down all the time, and I’ve been told to get ready for an induction, but if he’s either breach or stressed it may well be a c section which I just had not planned for at all. Do any mums have any c section recovery items they recommend? I feel now like I should be prepping for both if that makes sense? I had a regular birth for my DD so no idea how this is going to go. These babies like to stress us out! Birth plans be damned 🤦‍♀️

@Cakecakecheese glad you got the extra checks and cooling room! Our cars will know their own ways to the hospital lol

madeleine85 · 10/07/2022 14:42

On the up side I’m out of hospital as of last night and I’m my own bed for now 🎉🎉🎉🎉. Never been so happy to get off an iv drip and be able to pee without asking to go. I’m on orders to rest, eat and drink a ton of water, and I’m having 3 checks and a ultrasound to see how the placenta is coping each week. Honestly just so relieved to see my DD though, and kind of a teary mess! Anything sets me off now!

Cakecakecheese · 10/07/2022 15:47

@madeleine85 glad you're out now.

I did say to the nice midwife I feel like I live there!

ToCaden · 10/07/2022 16:43

@madeleine85 glad you get to see your dd.

A list of c section recovery items would be good. I've got the usual stuff I had sorted for normal birth. Only extras I've added so far is a feeding pillow (someone said it helped take strain off incision when feeding) and a shower stool (a few people mentioned they had a hard time standing long enough to shower and found a stool/chair for shower a godsend). And just changed my set up so I don't need to bend down to change him, etc).

I've got steep stairs in my house I'd need to go up and down several times a day for bathroom and kitchen, so because of that also decided with midwife to move into my mother's for a couple weeks as she has a nicer floor plan for those type of things. So if bathroom not on same level and you can't seek other accomidation you could consider a commode as a just in case type of thing.

madeleine85 · 10/07/2022 16:51

Thanks everyone, and @ToCaden those are incredibly good options. Shower stool was unthought of. I saw someone with a little 3 level wire basket cart on wheels to ferry around their post pardum items in the house as needed, so thinking of that too, and trying to stock it in advance. Tricky as my DD loves taking everything back out which makes organising a disaster 😂. I’ve been told to expect the nicu again so I’ll likely be pumping rather than feeding, assuming all well. No idea if a pillow would be useful. It’s the unknown that gets me!

madeleine85 · 10/07/2022 16:56

for c sections I’m seeing stool softener, peppermint tea for trapped gas, and pads to use on the scar were also useful items. And a belly band setup. Im a prepper in case you can’t tell 😂

RP90 · 10/07/2022 21:14

@ToCaden I had a section for my DS...make sure everything you plan on wearing sits as high above your public line as it can. I'd also say get up and move around as soon as you can. And most important take all the drugs they give you 😂.

ToCaden · 11/07/2022 07:48

@RP90 thank you. All the drugs sounds like a very good idea.

Good luck today fellow uk people (not sure what it's like in other countries). Supposed to be even hotter than yesterday!

Beth262 · 11/07/2022 08:49

Ughhh @ToCaden I'm already melting and it's not even 9am...

Ughhh @ToCaden I'm already melting and it's not even 9am...

Meanwhile my kitten is running all over the place, skidding into objects, and trying to get me to play non stop fetch with her, and I'm like 'how. How are you doing this?'

CoalCraft · 11/07/2022 09:24

Almost glad to still be in work at this point - the office has air con!!

Isonthecase · 11/07/2022 10:28

Another one basically melting. How many heatwaves do they have planned this summer?!?

ToCaden · 11/07/2022 10:48

@Isonthecase too many! This one seems to be planning on sticking around a while. Even worse temperatures end of this week / early next week.

Passthetena · 11/07/2022 10:49

I ended up at the DAU last week after almost passing out, found out my iron is low and ferritin is at 4! No wonder I've been feeling so bloody tired, iron tablets started and so much more energy already and then the heat hits and all the lovely energy disappeared again. Add in a poorly toddler and boy am I glad this is my last week in work. Im only 33 weeks but sod it, a rest is well deserved in this weather.

Also for anyone struggling, make use of baby's muslins! Soak them and wring them out and lay them over bump or face, it's bloody glorious. I've slept with a damp one over me when it's been hideously hot lately.

mamaof2girls · 11/07/2022 11:01

@ToCaden I would probs be stressed with all that to do at that stage 🙈 my second came at just over 38'weeks so am hoping to go a little earlier than the due date again this time! X

mamaof2girls · 11/07/2022 11:03

@madeleine85 yeah we are the same thought we have plenty time I was 33 weeks on Friday. But really they say you can go anytime after 37 weeks so taking that into account and then the 2 weeks late we can go I just keep saying anytime in the next 4-9 weeks 😂😂 but the 9 weeks part makes it seem ages away! X

Delight12 · 11/07/2022 11:52

ToCaden · 11/07/2022 12:01

CoalCraft · 11/07/2022 12:30

@Delight12 Amazing, congratulations! Well done to both of you! 🎉

beckybloomwood11 · 11/07/2022 12:44

@Delight12 that is great news! So happy for you!

Isonthecase · 11/07/2022 12:58

Brilliant news @Delight12 , how lovely to have her home soon 🙂

Passthetena · 11/07/2022 13:31

@Delight12 congratulations! How exciting!

PopGoesBang · 11/07/2022 13:33

@Delight12 Amazing! Happy home day.

Oh the heat. First day of no work and apart from being grateful for how quick the washing is drying I'm not loving it 🙈 and don't want to moan. I love the sun, but ugh!
DD's sports day tomorrow afternoon... no shade on the field. Looking forward to that! Dd is hopeful it gets cancelled, I think that might be blind optimism but I like her thinking!
