@madeleine85 yup. Last I heard they usually book in the c sections for around 38 weeks. So 2 to 3 weeks before due date to hopefully prevent you going into labour before that.

Does make it feel like it's coming much quicker than expected though.

Danani · 06/07/2022 10:08

Hi @SantiagoSister ! So good to see you, huni! Hope things are going well for you too!

Thanks for everyone who responded to my post earlier to reassure me! Scan is tomorrow afternoon, so not too long to wait now, but you ladies definitely helped me feel a bit less worried and a lot more relaxed!

@CoalCraft just echoing what everybody else has said - best to double-check with your hospital, but mine also said if you plan to breastfeed you do not need to bring anything in - if there's any issue, they will give you bottles, formula, etc. You only need to bring bottles (ideally those pre-made sterilized ones first baby milk) if you are planning to formula feed.

@PopGoesBang , the cheese was so delicious.

@SantiagoSister , carpal tunnel can get so painful I have had it for weeks go to Google and try the exercises they recommend..I left it and thought my little finger was going to dislocate one night it was not working....much better now though!

Just back from my 36 week scan, all looks normal and she's laying like a starfish enjoying herself haha.

ToCaden · 06/07/2022 13:51

Midwife today. Have to wait until 18th july appointment before I get a date for my c section. At this point I just want it booked in so I can plan.

She's said they'd do it 39 weeks or later which is a little worrying as it's a bit close to due date, and it would be a medical emergency if he decides to come sooner than c section. I'd understand if he was small and needed the time to grow, but he's already around 6 pounds at 34 weeks.

Kind of hoping they book me in closer to 38 weeks as don't want to spend that last week worrying about him coming before the section.

It is very exciting that we're all getting so close to baby time!

SantiagoSister · 06/07/2022 15:48

Thanks @Unknown6, I’ve just had a google, will follow those exercises and hopefully they help! Sorry you’re suffering with it as well 😩 pleased to hear it’s better for you now though. That’s so cute, your little starfish 🥰 glad it all went well!

madeleine85 · 06/07/2022 18:12

@SantiagoSister sounds common sense (and you likely arent doing this), but I found that I got carpal tunnel after my DD as I was a bit swolen and was wearing a hair band on one wrist. A day after I stopped wearing one the pain went away. My nurse the last time was telling me about a pregnant patient who was wearing wrist braces on each arm for carpal tunnel recently, and was miserable. Pregnancy is like running the gauntlet. Hope you get some relief soon!

SantiagoSister · 06/07/2022 18:25

Thanks for the tip @madeleine85, I’ll be sure not to wear anything restrictive on the wrists! Mine tends to get bad while I’m sleeping, I wonder if I’m laying on my arms funny and compressing the nerves even more alongside all my lovely swelling 🙈 that does sound so miserable to have to wear the wrist braces! Pregnancy certainly is a testing time 😂

ToCaden · 06/07/2022 19:41

I agree. It's an amazing thing to grow a human, but your body gets so breakable to do so. So many near sprains just from simple acts like turning over in bed.

Not to mention the backaches from just existing.

madeleine85 · 06/07/2022 20:23

@SantiagoSister I wonder if you're sleeping with a hand under your pillow, or up above your head or something. God I know i'm old when sleep injuries are not just pregnancy related, but are part of life haha. Back aches from just existing sums it up pretty perfectly @ToCaden

Unknown6 · 07/07/2022 06:59

@ToCaden, I had my planned c-section appointment yesterday. I'm also going to get my confirmed date at week 39.
I asked about what happens if you go into labour sooner and was told it would be classed as emergency, it must happen quite a bit, but also alot of babies go past due date. I'm 36 weeks today so not much longer, I'll probably have a July bubba now

CoalCraft · 07/07/2022 08:58

I think you're all right re. not bringing bottles to the hospital - even if breastfeeding doesn't work, it's not like they're going to let my baby starve! I think I was thinking that IF I'm going to be using bottles anyway, I'd rather use the type we have at home so she's used to them, but changing teat types was never a problem with DD1 was never a problem, so hopefully not something to worry about.

How's everyone doing? I'm feeling a bit stressy this morning - little one is normally very quiet first thing in the morning then gets very wriggly from about 9 or 10 am, but even though this is her normal pattern I've still spent all morning frowning at my tummy like a numpty 🤦 She's starting to wake up now as usual, so I was fretting for nothing.

ToCaden · 07/07/2022 09:26

@Unknown6 wow. So only three weeks left for you. Hoping we both have nice lazy babies who don't want to come early.

Any thoughts about any extra things that might be useful after c section? I've sorted so I don't need to bend down so much to for example change him, but wondering whether a feeding pillow might make feeding easier in that first week or so.

@CoalCraft I'm finding sleep even more important to my mood than before. That and eating and not overloading my days. It's definately much easier to get stressed or overwhelmed than it was just a few weeks ago.

Unknown6 · 07/07/2022 09:45

Hi @ToCaden, I'm just making sure I have a raised changing unit so I don't have to bend down to the floor or bed with stitches. My Friend who had a natural birth suggested this.

Cakecakecheese · 07/07/2022 12:12

Had a growth scan yesterday. He hasn't grown very much since my last one 2 weeks ago and is now in 17th percentile. They've booked me in for monitoring on Sunday and got a doppler flow scan on Tuesday.

ToCaden · 07/07/2022 12:33

@Cakecakecheese fingers crossed for positive news on sunday.

Cakecakecheese · 07/07/2022 13:08

@ToCaden Thank you. Sunday will just be heartbeat and movement and I've not any problems regarding that it's Tuesday I'm hoping will provide some answers. At least if it is my placenta not working properly there's things they can do.

Isonthecase · 07/07/2022 14:37

@Cakecakecheese sorry to hear that. Maybe take a hospital bag just in case? We're well in to the better out than in stage.

madeleine85 · 07/07/2022 18:55

@Cakecakecheese sorry to hear he isn’t growing much, but very glad they’re monitoring your little guy!

Had a checkup today, got the same comment the 3rd visit running about bump measuring small, so now anxious for tomorrows scan. Nothing much I can do though except wait. I hate fundal measurements as they’re wrong so often. Just feeling a bit deflated (inside) very inflated outside 😂

PopGoesBang · 08/07/2022 16:55

How's everyone doing today? Hope everyone has gotten on ok with their various appts and final days of work.

Just back from my midwife appt, 35+5 and baby is still transverse, scan on Tuesday anyways so will know for sure then. But today she mentioned that if baby is still like it at 37 weeks I'll be admitted to hospital until she turns and they'll do daily scans to see what's happening.
I'm likely to be induced at 38/39 weeks because of the GD anyways - and I have an appt with the consultant on Tuesday after the scan. I almost feel now that it would be better to book a c section and know what's happening. I'll ask the consultant on Tuesday but it really threw me when baby has been transverse the whole way along and all that had been mentioned previously was the options of turning her.

Sorry, brain dump!

Gettissuesgotissues · 08/07/2022 21:18

Hope it's OK to join you all, it's quite a comfort that I'm not the only one who is ridiculously pregnant in this heat (in the south and it's been roasting today). I'm 35 weeks with my 3rd, 1 and 2 were both 2 weeks over, so I'm expecting to be suffering for a while longer yet!

madeleine85 · 08/07/2022 21:57

Well… I’ve been admitted for monitoring. Very low fluid and growth issues at 32 week scan. His head legs etc all ok, I think I saw he is 3.5lbs but his belly is measuring 3% for growth. A little frustrated as the fundal measurements have been bad enough to get doctors comments there last 3 visits so 6 weeks, but they didn’t move up the growth scan, so we’re just finding out how small he is now. Feeling a bit down as we had a date night and sitter planned for the first time in months, and I didn’t know I’d be admitted so my DD won’t understand why I’ve disappeared and not told her. Hope it’s just a night here, but really not sure what happens if growth is that under. Any experiences welcomed!

Gettissuesgotissues · 08/07/2022 22:14

Can't offer any advice on afraid, but that sucks. I hope they don't keep you in long and everything is OK with you both.

Isonthecase · 08/07/2022 22:18

Oh dear, hope you get some answers soon!

Cakecakecheese · 08/07/2022 22:28

@madeleine85 I hope it goes ok. This is similar to my situation, baby not grown much and abdomen measuring small. I'm going in for monitoring Sunday and have a scan on Tuesday to check my placenta in case he's not getting enough from that. I then have a growth scan booked in at 36 weeks but presumably they'll have to think of something before that if it seems something is wrong with my placenta? I know they will try and avoid inducing before 37 weeks if they can but like someone said earlier it may get to the better out than in stage.

madeleine85 · 08/07/2022 22:57

Thanks @Cakecakecheese 36 weeks seems so much better than 32, I’m so glad you’re almost there!! It feels a long way off rn, but hoping they can keep this guy in. They’re saying waters haven’t broken at least, so now checking preeclampsia and to give steroids etc given history with daughter. It seems like there really isn’t much they can do which just seems odd?
