@squatternutbosh12 totally behind your definition of essentials! 😉

Talking of essentials, just how ready is everyone? Have you got most things ready or are you still a long way from where you want to be? x

I think we've got most things. We're very lucky that we've had a lot of stuff given to us which helps. In laws bought our travel system for us last week.

Unknown6 · 03/07/2022 10:45

@SantiagoSister , so good to see your name pop up! Hope things are going well! We are nearly there! 36 weeks on Thursday, then 1 week until we are considered full term. #sameduedate.

ToCaden · 03/07/2022 11:00

@squatternutbosh12 cute bunny. I had the same idea of getting a toy bunny for my little boy. I just have this image of him entering a room dragging the rabbit by one of its floppy ears.

I'm possibly fairly ready. Hospital bag not done (aiming to get it done at 36 weeks depending on what they decide tues over whether I need a c section), and I still need some basic things like more nappies and maternity pads, but they're easy to pick up at short notice.

It's the baby's room I'm struggling with. Was busy with another important room which is almost finished, so still need to do some major stuff to his room before it's done.

34 weeks as of yesterday. Both scary and exciting how close it's getting!!!

CoalCraft · 03/07/2022 11:13

Welp, today's the day, as of 9:04 this morning I'm officially the most pregnant I've ever been! Feels great to have reached this point. Everything seems fine at the moment, but if I do somehow end up delivering today I'll be a bit cross!

I have literally everything for new baby already (overprepared lol), though granted we had almost everything already from DD1. Just needed a few more vests and things since quite a few of DD's ended up in the "not worth saving" pile after nappy blowouts 😬

@SantiagoSister Great to have you back xx

Unknown6 · 03/07/2022 11:14

@ToCaden , I just did alot of research on nappies. Everyone saying pampers is the same as Aldi. I went to Aldi and the newborn nappies are 79p for 24.....I was in shock and thought the price might be wrong!

Mufflette · 03/07/2022 11:34

@CoalCraft that's brilliant news, counting down from that date now rather than to it is a big win!

I've just got an eBay bargain for the pram which I'll go to pick up later on, then we're ordering the car seat this eve when DP arrives home with the carrier his friend is passing on to us so as of this evening I think we're just about sorted, save a few 'nice to have' items that won't be essential for the first month or so.

Good to know, thank you.

SantiagoSister · 04/07/2022 08:05

@Unknown6 hello due date twin! 😁 so nice to chat with you again. Things are going well so far thank you, how have you been? I can’t believe we are officially full term as of next week, seems so surreal! 😱

@CoalCraft thank you 😊 really glad to hear you are the most pregnant you’ve ever been now, that must be a great milestone to get past and a big relief for you. Hopefully baby is pretty cosy in there and intends to stay put for you for a good while yet!

Sounds like many of us are quite prepared for baby’s arrival now, I’m in a similar position and think we have all the essentials. We got all the large items down from the loft yesterday (pram, next to me, bouncer etc), I was wondering when would be a good time to get everything set up? I’m 35+4 today, when roughly will you all be thinking of setting up the big items?

It’s my last week of work this week before I take a few weeks holiday prior to my Mat leave starting. I cannot wait to be finished! I feel like I’ve been run over this morning after a busy weekend of hosting/BBQing, every little thing just knackers me out at the moment 😅

ToCaden · 04/07/2022 08:35

@SantiagoSister really looking forward to maternity leave now. Still four work weeks left for me now. Work is dragging and full of back aches and I'm only 34 weeks.

Anyone else started getting mild period type pains?

CoalCraft · 04/07/2022 09:53

Also really looking forward to maternity leave, but have four more weeks to go. Feels like ages!

I'm thinking 36 weeks for setting up the hardware. Need to do things like set up the next-to-me, get out the Moses basket and whatnot. Am looking forward to bossing DH around while he gets it all done 😁

I know some ladies were talking about numb bums, but has anyone else been getting a numb groin?? If I sit with my legs crossed for more than half an hour or so then stand up I realise that I have a numb / pins-and-needles type feeling in my fanny! Sure I've never had it there before this pregnancy.

PopGoesBang · 04/07/2022 10:18

Last week of work for me (and clearly really focused), 2 weeks annual leave and then starting mat leave. I can't wait, I'll still have the school run to do so still an element of having to get up and start the day, but I quite like that, but after that I'm looking forward to a bit of faffing with no pressure.

@CoalCraft no numb fanny but it definitely feels swollen, and occasionally a touch of the old lightening crotch.

Dp told me he doesn't think I'll make it the next 4 weeks - which did make me think I should really finish packing the hospital bag - a nightdress, pack of baby wipes and a lip balm probably isn't enough to get me thru 🤣

I think we have everything big now. We do need to try the car seat out in the car. But have been doing so many tip runs the back seat hasn't been up in forever. But as we are now in July there is a ban on diy and or projects that can not be completed in a day. Which of course means dp wants to paint the front room before the carpet is fitted at the end of the month and refresh the hallway...

squatternutbosh12 · 04/07/2022 10:20

@Unknown6 we’ve got our nappies from aldi too, such good value and they have been really well reviewed as well. Seemed crazy not to!

@ToCaden yes ive been getting this too, it can be a little concerning as have also been having near constant braxton hicks although haven’t felt the need to call triage yet as nothing changing or progressing. But yeah definitely with you on the low pelvic/lower back area period aches. Warm shower helps actually!

@CoalCraft i am also getting pins and needles and a weird type of vibrating feeling in my bits 😂😂 I can make it go away usually by switching position so I think it’s nerves being compressed, as I do think bump has dropped a bit in the last couple of days!! Weird and unnerving though!

RP90 · 04/07/2022 14:09

I'm not gonna lie sometimes my "lady garden" really hurts ha. So much so I said "I'm not sure why I want to try for a vaginal birth this time". I never had this in my last pregnancy but its such a lovely new symptom 😂😭

Unknown6 · 04/07/2022 17:40

@ToCaden , @squatternutbosh12, my pains in my back yesterday were so painful that I thought I might be in labour. I put a hot bean bag thing on my back and that gave some relief. I'm definitely getting BH I think. My belly keeps going very hard too! Does the pain mean we are going to actually go into labour soon?

@SantiagoSister, I can't believe we are so near! It's getting scary! Doing well my side, just getting ready for my next nct class and finishing work very soon! Im glad you are doing well too!

Unknown6 · 04/07/2022 17:46

When is everyone packing their hospital bag?

squatternutbosh12 · 04/07/2022 17:49

@Unknown6 I don’t think it does mean that necessarily - hope not anyway! I think it’s probably ligaments stretching more as baby drops and moves lower into pelvis. I noticed my bump being lower and this period pain starting around the same time. I think for me the thing that would tip me over into calling triage (aside from the obvious- waters breaking/non-BH contractions lol) would be if the pain was steadily worsening or not improving after a few hours as I’d start thinking that was less normal.

just a thought- sometimes you can get low down pains with a urine infection, even if you don’t have the classic burns-when-you-pee thing. Might be worth checking just in case? I check my wee at home and it’s fine but you could ask your midwife if this is out of the ordinary for you x

ToCaden · 04/07/2022 18:46

Likely the same for me. Bump has dropped and he's not drumming on my ribs quite as often, so he's hopefully now low and engaging for birth (rather than breech and trying to make himself one with my ribcage as he was doing a week ago).

@Unknown6 I'll be getting the hospital bag ready at 36 weeks.

PopGoesBang · 04/07/2022 20:19

I've just packed a few more bits in my hospital bag. Potentially if it needed grabbing I'd be ok initially and DP/parents could bring anything major. Do need to add phone charger and toothbrush and toothpaste - I might just buy spares of those.
I also need to take get snacks. Sadly sweets and the general 'energy' snacks aren't going to cut it with the gestational diabetes. Boiled eggs and babybels anyone?!

squatternutbosh12 · 04/07/2022 20:27

@PopGoesBang omg you’ve just given me a right hankering for a babybel

PopGoesBang · 04/07/2022 20:28

@squatternutbosh12 I was about to say how I'm not round... total lie, the bump is amazingly round 🤣
Sorry! I bet you don't have any in and that's just the worst!

CoalCraft · 04/07/2022 20:55

I had a little nephew born today! Am delighted for my brother and sil, and also happy to have reached this other little milestone. Sil's due date was six weeks ahead of mine so it wasn't outside the realms of possibility that I might beat her to it, and I'm so relieved that that didn't happen. Mum and baby are doing well!

My hospital bag has been packed for weeks 😳 There's two of them and they're just stacked in the bedroom, oops.

squatternutbosh12 · 04/07/2022 21:02

Eeeek my section is ONE MONTH TODAY!
we put together the Moses basket this evening, it has a little rocking stand too 😍 really cute and was on offer half price too so was proper chuffed with that

@PopGoesBang haha it’s fine, I raided the fridge and found some normal cheese to nibble which satisfied the hankering 😁

PopGoesBang · 04/07/2022 21:06

@CoalCraft Ah lovely! Congratulations. How lovely to have 2 close in age (and not as close as you had feared!) in the family.
My bags been in the bed for weeks. Figured just wet wipes in it, wasn't going to be helpful.

@squatternutbosh12 glad that hit the spot!

I've just had to scrub sharpie pen off of the arm and around her mouth of dd 🙈 she's 9. I thought we were safe from such antics.
