@KCat82 congratulations glad all went well and your back home relaxing! X

Mufflette · 05/08/2022 13:36

Congratulations @Unknown6 @squatternutbosh12 @KCat82 ! Hope you're all feeling ok.

Another one to add here, baby boy arrived at half 2 this morning, just sneaking in to 38 weeks. 6lb 3 and all doing well, just waiting to go home within the next few hours!

ToCaden · 05/08/2022 13:37

Wow. Lots more babies. I finally got home from hospital yesterday evening. I really enjoyed pregnancy on the whole, but postnatal ward was a horrible experience.

Still haven't gotten into the habit of actually sleeping (couldn't at all at hospital due to severe pain and setting, not really due to baby). But now I'm able to distribute my own painkillers, and thus actually get them I think I'm starting to feel a little better. Was a wreck this morning as pain meds had been delayed by hours again (paracetamol and ibuprofen) and had to walk clear across the hospital to leave.

Think they might hopefully be doing their job, fingers crossed.

Currently waiting to see if midwife shows up today as told she would. Did anyone else get the midwife visit day after discharge?

mamaof2girls · 05/08/2022 13:48

@Mufflette congratulations so many having baby's now. Hopefully the rest off us don't have to much off a long wait 🙈🙈 x

mamaof2girls · 05/08/2022 13:50

@Mufflette with both my kids I have had the midwife out the next day after being discharged don't know if where you are normally they are midwife led for 10 days then moves on to a health visitor x

PopGoesBang · 05/08/2022 13:59

Wow, congratulations @squatternutbosh12 @Mufflette @KCat82 @Unknown6 and @ToCaden

@CoalCraft I hope maybe it's a combination of the two and you soon get to meet baby.

@ToCaden I didn't get a midwife visit the day after I was told I'd have a phone call by 1pm the day after discharge and then had an appt made to go in and see a midwife yesterday, so day 3. They weighed baby to check how she's doing and then made another appt for day 5 for another weigh and heel prick test.

I'm not sure I've hit 5 hours sleep since Monday. We've certainly had the feeding over night to help the breast milk come in. Apparently that's when your prolactin levels are at their highest and so baby is programmed to feed more to help encourage supply. And every time I've tried to nap during the day there's been a phone call to follow something up and I end up just pushing through. I did manage a good 90 minutes this morning so feel pretty good after that.

I hope everyone is doing ok. Ladies waiting still, it will soon be your turn, make the most of the bump and do what ever you enjoy for a bit of you time before baby arrives.

New mumma's be kind to your self and don't over do things, keep pain relief up if you need it and even if you aren't getting sleep make sure you aren't all go go go. Enjoy the snuggles.

Sending love to all x

Unknown6 · 05/08/2022 14:34

@mamaof2girls, yes they let my husband in, but if he had of been positive then he would not have been allowed in, I was pretty scared for a bit there, but he tested negative 2 days before.

SantiagoSister · 05/08/2022 14:57

Congratulations to all you new mamas! How amazing, it must feel absolutely wonderful to have your babies in your arms ❤️

Still waiting here, feeling terribly impatient, just want to meet my little boy and get him here safely now. I’ve tried everything in the book to try and bring labour on, nothings worked, he’s just too comfortable 😓

CoalCraft · 05/08/2022 15:05

Welp, in triage now waiting to be assessed. Definitely lost my mucus plug and having regular, albeit not very strong contractions. They also seemed to think the episode of vomiting and diarrhoea was likely also a sign. Feel generally "off".

Could just be a false start though as I don't have the back/upper leg ache I did last time and last time I had a tummy bug it triggered contractions for a while. DD has had a touch of the runs so could be that, and "off" could just be due to tiredness. Will be embarrassing if it is a false start as we've had to mobilise a lot of people for childcare!

PopGoesBang · 05/08/2022 15:13

Good luck @CoalCraft hope it's early doors and things get going for you - if nothing else you know everyone is in place and your plan for childcare works!

@SantiagoSister hopefully something will do the trick and baby will get the memo.

mamaof2girls · 05/08/2022 15:23

@CoalCraft good luck! X

Celyn22 · 05/08/2022 15:49

Ah wow I can't believe so many babies have arrived now! Yesterday I was bouncing around full of energy and today I'm dragging myself around and trying to keep up commitments. Taking it easy though with lots of lying down in between things.

Can I ask what happens on the post natal midwife visits? What are they checking?

mamaof2girls · 05/08/2022 15:53

@Celyn22 they check baby's weight gain and loss etc as they do tend to loose around 10% then gain it again. Make sure baby ain't got jaundice. Feeding okay having plenty wet and dirty nappies etc and if you have stitches etc they will offer to check that and see how you are generally are doing! X

AbiGoLucky · 05/08/2022 16:24

Ahh lots of little babies being born at the moment!
Got a feeling it won't be long until our girl arrives - I'm currently 37+3 and lost part of plug Monday before last and had a tiny bit more come away today. Started getting what a dull ache in lower belly that I usually get the day before a period and every time I stand or walk around there is so much pressure where her head is. And feels like I need the toilet when I don't. She's already engaged and was getting lots of braxton hicks before, but not had as many this week. Not really sure if I'm just looking into it too much as this is my first though? Does this sound like labour is close or am I being optimistic lol?

madeleine85 · 05/08/2022 16:52

@Mufflette @Unknown6 @KCat82 and @squatternutbosh12 congratulations!!! I hope you’re all enjoying your little baby snuggles ❤️❤️❤️. @ToCaden so glad you’re home.

@CoalCraft hope it’s progressing and all ok. I remember feeling “off” the day before labour with my DD and once the pink tinge appeared I had her within less than 24 hours. So exciting!!

@SantiagoSister you obviously made a very nice nest for your little one if they’re not budging 😂.

i think I lost at least part of my mucus plug yesterday. It was a very weird color though which reminded me of a thrush infection I had in the middle of the pregnancy. So I’m wondering if some of the disgustingness has been hiding this whole time. Within 30 mins back to normal though, so thankfully doesn’t seem to be thrush round 2000 of this pregnancy. No contractions/pink so hoping to stay that way till Monday mornings section. Hoping todays growth scan is ok, we’re so close now though. My DD decided that last night would be ideal to have a fever and vomit all night… so now just praying the rest of us don’t get it. @CoalCraft im there with you and the toddler plagues! 😂.

CoalCraft · 05/08/2022 18:01

Thanks for the well wishes everyone. Looks like I am in labour, though early stages; 3 cm dilated. Am just lingering around the hospital waiting for things to progress.

madeleine85 · 05/08/2022 19:13

@CoalCraft that’s so exciting!! Good luck!! ❤️

mamaof2girls · 05/08/2022 19:38

@CoalCraft oh good luck. Hope all goes well and your baby is here before you know it! X

AbiGoLucky · 05/08/2022 19:40

@CoalCraft Ah Good luck! Won't be long now for you and baby to have a cuddle 😀

Tacoboutit · 06/08/2022 02:37

Congratulations to all the new mummies! Enjoy the newborn bubble and take care of yourselves. I found the first week really tough with emotions but I can confirm it passes xx

Magik8ball · 06/08/2022 07:25

Good morning and congratulations to those who've had their baby in the past few days 😊 Hope you're all settling in well. I'm still waiting for the appearance of mine but each day that passed is one day less I guess!

Unknown6 · 06/08/2022 07:55

@Tacoboutit , I'm finding first week very tough. The c- section really took it out of me and I'm barely able to hold baby, but did enjoy laying down cuddles. Last night we barely got any sleep 😴. My hubby has been amazing though!

CoalCraft · 06/08/2022 07:57

Well, guess it was a false start for me. I had contractions for 15 hours but after a point they didn't really progress and they've slowed right down now. They're going to send me home unless anything dramatic happens between now and breakfast.

Feeling very deflated and also guilty for all the amazing help we got with childcare yesterday. Mum drove 1.5 hours to look after poorly toddler DD and while I know she'll do it again I feel so bad asking her to do it 😢

And also worried about not trusting the signs next time and not making it back to hospital in time... Ach!!

Sorry for the whinge, am just feeling a bit tired and emotional

Tacoboutit · 06/08/2022 08:09

@Unknown6 I had a c section also so understand how you feel. I also felt bad I couldn’t just get up super quickly and tend to my baby, I had to ask the midwives and my husband for lots of help the first week. Which added to my emotions. I felt a hell of a lot better physically around day 10/11 so hang in there and keep taking the pain relief. Also, maybe TMI but if you’re (or anyone here) are having any trouble with bowel movements, get some Laxido sachets. I made the mistake of taking Ducolease tablets and the cramps I experienced were extreme, never felt pain like it! But laxido are much gentler. You’re doing amazing mama and glad your husband is supportive too xx

AbiGoLucky · 06/08/2022 08:19

@CoalCraft Ah man! Try and stay positive and don't feel guilty for people wanting to help out - it's one of the biggest things you can go through in life so I'm sure your mum was just happy that you and baby are okay and still gets time to spend with your toddler. And you still did the right thing by getting checked out at the hospital either way. Sounds like it won't be too long for you though if you had 15hrs worth! X
