@Isonthecase me! I'm not due till the end of August and have a suspicion I'll have a September baby, so happy to keep you company! 😂

ToCaden · 26/07/2022 09:51

Newest complaint: sneezing while he's under my ribs. Absolute agony.

Also I'm really getting fed up of peeing so many times at night.

Phew, if everyone else has 38 weekers I'm going to be very grumpy once overdue again, especially if there's another heatwave 😂

Don't jinx it! No more heatwaves allowed.

Well, I hope I turn out to be one of those 38 weekers😂 knowing my luck tho, he will stay put this week

SantiagoSister · 26/07/2022 11:33

Sorry to hear about those suffering with covid, such bad luck this close to the end as well 😩 hoping you all feel better soon and the hospitals can sort out new plans that don’t alter things too much for you.

Good luck to all those with babies on their way imminently too! It’s so exciting and I can’t wait to read your updates.

I'm starting to feel really impatient now. I’m 38+5 today, but I’m feeling like this little one is super comfortable in there at the moment as I’ve had zero signs of anything approaching. I just want him here safe and well now, it’s been such an anxious pregnancy and I think because everyone says they could turn up from 37 weeks, I’d sort of subconsciously pinned my hopes on that happening. And because it hasn’t, it’s made me feel like I’m about 10 weeks overdue at the moment 😂

mamaof2girls · 26/07/2022 15:40

@Isonthecase I ain't due till the 26th august but I am hoping this wee one comes around 38 weeks 🙈🙈 am scotland so kids go back to school around 15th august so not looking forward doing nursery runs etc at 38/39 weeks pregnant! X

Beth262 · 26/07/2022 15:54

Growth scan for me today. Baby has dropped from 10th centile to 3rd. They're not too concerned at the moment as blood flow is good and fluid is normal but because I've had a few instances of reduced movements they may look to induce me before I hit 40 weeks if he's quiet again between now (38+1) and my final consultant appointment (39+4).

Also had midwife appointment this morning to go through my birth plan. It's fair to say I was feeling alright about things until we started going through the detail and I'm a little bit scared now! Also have decided my midwife is absolute 🦇💩 She told me that semen is absorbed better through the stomach wall rather than the vaginal wall and that if I want to hurry things up, ditch the sex and just swallow. Just straight out with it like that and then carried on normal conversation 😳 Sorry if that's turned anyone a bit queasy and you're having a biscuit with your cuppa reading this!

Forgot to add, currently estimated at 6lb x

@Beth262 aww that's a pretty decent weight tbh. My second was born at 38 weeks 4 days and she was 6.2 and all healthy we even left the hospital 6 hours after having her! X

mamaof2girls · 26/07/2022 17:08

I have actually been kinda put off having any intercourse right now 😂😂 I have always got to that point in pregnancy though and tbh I think my partner is the same the more bigger I get and the more he feels the baby move then less he wants it 😂😂😂 x

Cakecakecheese · 26/07/2022 17:29

I will not be informing my partner about the semen swallowing advice 🤣

6lb is a good weight, even if centile has dropped a bit.. I’m glad they’re not too concerned and are keeping a close eye :)

Not sure how much I believe midwife’s blowjob theory - I’m pretty sure it’s the direct action of the prostaglandins in semen on the cervix that softens it and can help move things along with labour, i.e. the semen has to be in contact with the cervix.. Pretty difficult to achieve that through the stomach I would have thought, regardless of how well it might be ‘absorbed’.. 🤨🤔

PopGoesBang · 26/07/2022 18:33

@Beth262 my dd was 6lb3oz at 40+1, and we too were out of hospital within 6 hours. So baby is doing ok weight wise. And once again it's great they are keeping an eye on things.

Your midwife does certainly sound crazy!
I'm not sure dp wants to come near me now I've had a couple of sweeps, he just pulls faces when he asks how it went.
Second sweep done today, 3cm dilated and baby is more engaged than Friday so apparently thumbs up all round. Midwife asked if I'd been nesting, I asked if the fact I've cleaned the sofas with the vax machine counted. Apparently that is good news too!
I'd rather crazy ideas like that than the other midwife mind you 🤣

mamaof2girls · 26/07/2022 19:50

@PopGoesBang just a wee bit of warning there is a stage am sure you shouldn't have intercourse as it can cause infection and I can't really remember if it's after you loose rhe mucas plug or after the water went but I know it's something like that just incase anyone decided to use that method to try hurry things along 🙈🙈 x

PopGoesBang · 26/07/2022 19:56

@mamaof2girls I think it's when the waters go. I think we're safe - currently want no one near me in any form! It's all his fault anyways 🤣

mamaof2girls · 26/07/2022 19:58

@PopGoesBang yeah I was too sure just with you mentioned being dilated and baby low etc. oh defo their faults that's what i always say 😂😂 my partner always goes aye you trapped me am like this is our 3rd defo no trapping 😂😂😂 x

PopGoesBang · 26/07/2022 20:02

@mamaof2girls there's always a smart come back!
Dp started to mention how he's looking forward to some time off and chilling a bit... I didn't say anything. Channeling my inner thumper 🤐

ToCaden · 26/07/2022 20:18

Wow. Seems like we're going to have more babies in this thread soon. So many edging close to the end point.

I finished my last day of work today, and I am so relieved. Those last couple days were irritating. Nothing like a baby kicking your ribs and punching your cervix all day to just make you want to nope everything.

mamaof2girls · 26/07/2022 20:20

@PopGoesBang aww their defo does like haha
Take it this is your first yeah 🙈🙈 how long is your partner able to take off? Just make sure you let him do a lot while he's there since you will be the one doing most the work once he's back to work haha! X

PopGoesBang · 26/07/2022 20:25

@mamaof2girls it's both our second! He seems to have rose tinted glasses on the baby days for his son. I definitely remember how hard the early days were with dd. But I was on my own then, so having a partner around will be strange (even if he thinks it's going to be a nice couple of weeks off 🤣)
He's taking 2 weeks, there might be room for more. I think he'll be happy to go back especially with dd on school holidays (she's 9, and will be a mini expert in no time - can't wait!)

I experienced the rib-cracker-baby sneeze this evening. A whole new world of pain fun, I hope the pollen count doesn’t rise 😬 🤧

CoalCraft · 27/07/2022 05:58

Thankfully I finally tested covid negative yesterday and was able to have my consultant appointment where the Dr helpfully agreed to do the growth scan I missed the day before. Trouble was baby was in such an awkward position that she couldn't find the landmarks and the measurements are all over the place. Abdomen measured 41 weeks and head measured 31 - I'm 36 weeks! Dr was unconcerned and said it was faulty measurements with everything actually looking fine so I'm trying to take no notice but a obviously a small part of me started panicking that something was wrong 😅

The problem apparently was that baby's so low on pelvis already that the Dr could hardly see her head at all - guess baby is in launch position? Cervix still tightly closed for now though, thankfully.

As for new aches and pains, mine is a tendon or something in my train that randomly hurts like hell when I make certain movements and I have to resist the urge to grab my crotch and yell every time 🤦

Unknown6 · 27/07/2022 11:52

Sorry for lack of response, felt very rough the last couple of days. Think I'm through the worst of it now though fingers crossed.

Mufflette · 27/07/2022 12:04

My stitch is out, with no complications and I have a chance of at least a few days of being a low risk pregnancy! 37 weeks on Friday so hoping to hold on til then as a minimum.

1.5 days left at work, I think my colleagues will be relieved to see me back online this afternoon to finish a few pieces off 😁
