@HotToddyColdSauvignon I'm sorry it ended a bit stressful but i hope everything is OK now. Fingers crossed for you. 🤞 Congratulations too! 🎉

Coco9910 · 05/07/2022 17:57

@HotToddyColdSauvignon congratulations 💕 wishing your little one a quick recovery and sending you lots of love 💕

DrPrincessFluffyToYou · 05/07/2022 18:55

So lovely to hear of everyone’s babies arriving! @HotToddyColdSauvignon i hope your little one is released from NICU soon!

I’m being induced tomorrow for pre-eclampsia - they’ve been monitoring my urine for protein and have now decided that it’s high enough and my baby is big enough to get her out ASAP! I’ll be 38 weeks exactly. Shock still hasn’t sunk in fully! Had a growth scan on Friday and she’s already 8lbs. Cannot wait to meet her but absolutely terrified of giving birth tomorrow!

beetree1 · 05/07/2022 19:13

@DrPrincessFluffyToYou good luck tomorrow with your induction! How exciting you get to meet your little girl so soon! I hope everything goes as you wish x

SamanthaVimes · 05/07/2022 19:15

@DrPrincessFluffyToYou hope it all goes well tomorrow! Good luck!

strawberrysummer19 · 05/07/2022 19:18

@HotToddyColdSauvignon congratulations
Take the time to heal and recover and spend time with LO and we are here for you when you are ready to chat

@DrPrincessFluffyToYou all the best for tomorrow
Looking forward to your update

I'm being induced on 20th but am quite ready now! X

Gaily82 · 05/07/2022 20:07

@Junebaby22 Ah it's no fun sleeping upright is it. I can't remember the last time I slept right through the night and it's unlikely to be happening anytime soon! I definitely hear you about having had about enough of the physical strains of late pregnancy, and it will be interesting to see what your consultant advises tomorrow. Good luck with your appointment! Realistically I probably won't be up for going much past 41 weeks if things don't start naturally/spontaneously, as the physical effects and lack of sleep are starting to take their toll...and I need to do what's best for the baby, and me aswell. I won't miss waking up every hour in bed feeling like I need a double hip replacement! 😄 Yes maybe the baby's head is pushing down on your cervix and the nerves are causing those sharp pains...fingers crossed tomorrow you get more information about what baby boy is doing and your options. I've had the odd sharp pain down there aswell but it seemed to only last a few seconds at a time and hasn't happened for a few days so I'm not convinced she's far enough down yet. She's wriggling around again now so maybe still trying, although there isn't really much room to manoeuvre at this stage! Time will tell 🙂

@DrPrincessFluffyToYou Good luck for your induction tomorrow, I hope all goes smoothly and you must be so excited to meet your daughter very soon! ☺️

ShellUK09 · 05/07/2022 20:13

@HotToddyColdSauvignon congratulations! 💕☺️ hope you are both recovering well

@DrPrincessFluffyToYou I've literally just been through the same thing. For me the labour was a good experience, I think due to the blood pressure issues they wanted the baby to arrive quickly so everything happened very fast and the whole labour was about 6 hours. I would say though be prepared to spend around 5 days in hospital afterwards, they wouldn't discharge me until my blood pressure had stabilised again and their cut off point it needs to be under is 150/100, so have things you need in your hospital bag for a longer stay just in case. They may give you different doses of medication before finding one that works and discharging you. Wishing you well for tomorrow 🙂 try a tens machine if you can for your back in early labour as that was a godsend for me, they will probably also recommend an epidural early as that lowers your blood pressure. Calming music in my ear and breathing exercises of in for 4 out for 8 helped to keep me calm. You can do it and it will be okay

DrPrincessFluffyToYou · 05/07/2022 20:17

Thank you everyone for the well wishes! It feels like the strangest mix of the night before Christmas and the night before a big exam!

@ShellUK09 that’s very useful re: blood pressure targets for discharge! Do you know how long you’ll be keeping on the blood pressure tablets for post birth?

also with everyone on not sleeping much these days. Have really found that sleeping with a pregnancy pillow between my knees + a blanket rather than duvet has helped my sleep!

ChinChilly · 05/07/2022 20:44

@DrPrincessFluffyToYou oh wow, good luck for tomorrow!!

I’ve had a few tightenings today but I’m not reading into any of these things anymore 🙄 I think OH might be getting abit nervous about baby arriving any day he seems to be getting abit stressed about silly little things 🤔

NamelessBaby1 · 05/07/2022 21:03

@ChinChilly hah my OH is still in complete denial about the fact there will be a baby here soon never mind the labour part of it 🤣 I was on the phone to my sister and talking about the birth pool and could just see him stressing out beside me lol.

@DrPrincessFluffyToYou all the best for tomorrow, and fingers crossed you aren't kept in too long after!

I've spent all afternoon batch cooking and I'm absolutely knackered now, definitely not as able to do things as I think anymore!

annie1994 · 05/07/2022 21:10

@HotToddyColdSauvignon sorry to hear about the complications but congrats on the birth of your little one! Hope you both have a speedy recovery 💕

Good luck @DrPrincessFluffyToYou for your induction tomorrow!

My baby is 2 weeks old tomorrow! Also my partner goes back to work 😭😭😭

Coco9910 · 05/07/2022 21:38

@DrPrincessFluffyToYou good luck tomorrow!! How exciting 🥰

ShellUK09 · 05/07/2022 22:39

@DrPrincessFluffyToYou I have to take the blood pressure medication for at least 2 weeks and then go to the GP who will review this. The midwife said I will need to be weaned off the medication so I'm wondering if they just reduce it gradually and keep monitoring it.

Lianna93 · 06/07/2022 07:11

@DrPrincessFluffyToYou Good luck for today 🥰

@DrPrincessFluffyToYou good luck today, lovely!!! Hoping you get speedy and straightforward labour and birth, cannot wait to hear from you with an update on the little bubba! xx

DrPrincessFluffyToYou · 06/07/2022 10:13

@ShellUK09 thank you for the information! I’m on labetalol at the moment, wonder if they’ll continue that after…

Thank you so much for the well wishes 🥰 I’m supposed to be getting a call before lunch to let me know when to head in…don’t know what to do with myself before then!

ShellUK09 · 06/07/2022 11:23

@DrPrincessFluffyToYou yes they will likely keep you on that for a little while after the birth. I'm on that as well but they also had to add in another medication Coracten for me as my blood pressure wouldn't stabilise enough so I take a combination of the two. They may trial you on different doses after the birth. Try not to worry, the first few hours in hospital will be quite chilled as they just put the gel in and wait for it to work. Wishing you well today x

ChinChilly · 06/07/2022 13:00

Another growth scan today…EFW 8lb 1 at 38+4! I’m feeling extra hormonal today and fed up after 4 hours sleep last night

Peters27 · 06/07/2022 13:39

Had a sweep today- at 39+4 incase anyone is worried it wasn't painful at all!! I think I've had worse smears to be honest!did bleed a bit immediately though-husband nearly keeled over lol

MollyRover · 06/07/2022 14:26

Good to know @Peters27, think I'll be looking at that next week if nothing starts by itself.

No updates to report from me unfortunately, just even more fed up than last week. We've decided we will stay at home for as long as possible, maybe even for the birth, to put my mind at rest about DC1. I'm really flapping about it so feel this is the best thing to do. Then I'll know for sure that she's being cared for properly.

My mother offered to come over but that would cause even more hassle. Airport delays, having to travel 2 hours to collect her because she won't navigate the (simple!!) public transport system, trying to sort accommodation for her when we've just moved, her being no help whatsoever when she gets here anyway!! It took a lot of pelvic floor strength not to wet myself laughing at the suggestion Grin

Lianna93 · 06/07/2022 14:50

@Peters27 I'm due my sweep tomorrow (if I make it) Pretty sure I'm in the early stages of labour 🤞🏻🤞🏻
DH & I decided to try getting this baby out the old fashioned way.... Needless to say I started getting crazy pains an hour or so after it & they were just getting more intense - However, all primarily seems to be in my back. Triage told us to stay home, so went for a shower, took some paracetamol & made up a hot water bottle. Took the edge off but it was like the back of 1 before I managed to get myself to sleep.
Woke up feeling brand new but after a wee walk round the shops, that's the pain started back up so hoping this is all good signs 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

Peters27 · 06/07/2022 14:56

@Lianna93 oh good to know, that is definitely the next port of call if nothing starting with me soon!fingers and toes crossed that your going yourself it sounds like it to be honest!Maybe there is some logic to the irish old wives tale of swollen lips🤣hope all goes smoothly for you!

Lianna93 · 06/07/2022 15:06

@Peters27 Lips are definitely still swollen! It's funny because I was literally thinking about what you had said about that this morning as well 😂

Apparently if you've got a purple line going up from your bum to back, you're dilating... I definitely have a purple line 🤞🏻😂

My friend said a lot of her labour pain was in her back too so really hoping this is it & it won't be too much longer 🤞🏻

Hope your sweep works but I'd definitely recommend getting DH involved in the process & some nipple stimulation too! 😂😂

Congratulations @HotToddyColdSauvignon i hope your little girl is out of the NICU soon!

@annie1994 I can't believe your little one is 2 weeks already.

@DrPrincessFluffyToYou good luck for today! If you stay in hospital for longer make sure to ask any questions of the midwives you may have.
If you are breastfeeding ask them to check latch etc.

I did want to get out of hospital asap but actually being in for a few days was quite useful.

@Lianna93 ooh hopefully it's happening for you!
