Ah that makes me feel much better! I find it hard enough to sleep now anyway that any sleep is good haha.

You def need a bit of laughter in labour! My midwives commented that I was laughing and joking in the middle of contractions last time haha. You need all the oxytocin you can get so funny conversations with h (and probably dd this time!) are the way to go !

TurquoiseDreamCatcher · 02/07/2022 17:46

We went for a 4D scan this morning. Our little lady refused to turn and face the scanner! I jumped about, I wiggled, I drank cold water but she refused to budge.

The scan company have offered us a free rescan on Tuesday evening.

madeleine85 · 02/07/2022 19:03

@TurquoiseDreamCatcher that’s nice they’re doing that, and a good idea for bonding tbh. We had one with our dd at this stage, and it was so bad. She covered her face the whole time, and looked like a gloopy alien 😂. I’ll stick to the normal ultrasounds this time lol

Celyn22 · 03/07/2022 05:12

@madeleine85 I am glad your contractions stopped and that your son is staying put a while longer! My due date is the day after yours so it made reality kick in again for both my partner and I! Keep looking after yourself - and being looked after by your partner :)

My pregnancy symptoms 31+4 are now getting more uncomfortable...

  • I'm either sleeping loads, or unable to sleep at all... 4 hours last night.
  • Waking up to pee once an hour and struggling to get back to sleep!!
  • Awful heartburn as soon as evening kicks in - even if I had an early dinner.
  • Waking up hungry and unsure of whether to go and eat to help me get back to sleep.
  • Constipation again! Yesterday I was so so happy to do my first poo in 3 days!
  • Physically I only get achy after gardening or physical work which I guess is to be expected, but it makes turning over in bed such hard work!

In my few hours sleep last night my dreams were all about labour... first one was weird (like a birthing farm where we all queued up to give birth) second one was me going into labour at home and what I'd like to do when the time comes.

Thinking of you all and feeling grateful for all your posts each day.

@Butterflytulip I am so pleased too it's a consultant midwife contacting me and she will be in touch in a couple of weeks I honestly don't no what to do as a c section might be too late as it will be done at 39 weeks my babies have a jab it of coming early finish was 38 weeks after a sweep due to placenta insufficiency and then my second was 38 weeks 5 days he just wanted out 😂 I got my results from my gtt yesterday all negative like they have been the last 2 pregnancies I just blame my brother on that one as he is type 1 so have to have it done.. how are you lovely?? Xx

Butterflytulip · 03/07/2022 12:20

@Sweetbabydust1989 oh flip sounds like your little one will arrive early then!!! Shame they can't plan the steroid injections earlier giving your history and then do c section maybe at 37 weeks.

Oh my gosh @madeleine85 that sounds stressful! I suppose it's not unheard off to go into labour early. My mum doesn't remember lol but I think I was born few weeks early.

We are bringing down the boxes from the attic today!! Really want to unpack and see what's in them! It's only been 1-2years but can barely remember !!

Im having an afternoon nap, bliss! My toddler still sleeps during the day!!

This baby in my belly is moving so much I'll not sleep until they settle 😂😂😂

Anyone in UK get Covid jab?? Iv had 3 all done in 2021 with the last in Dec.. got Covid in Feb. Haven't bothered with another jab. I wasn't too bad with Covid when I had it but guess I'm totally unprotected now it's been 6 months from last jab. Not sure whether just to wait it out, 8 weeks to go !!!

Sweetbabydust1989 · 03/07/2022 12:25

@Butterflytulip I don't no what they will do 🙈 I don't think they like bringing labour on too early unless it's down to a medical reason.. this I am guessing will all be discussed i would like a date as I can sort out my child with disabilities but I will be packing him a little bag just incase it happens quickly and he needs to go to nannies.. never knew about steroid injections xx

Butterflytulip · 03/07/2022 12:30

@Sweetbabydust1989 yep they are to help mature the lungs in case baby early xx

Belle2210 · 04/07/2022 09:53

Oh wow glad your contractions stopped @mamadeleine85!

My rage episodes are ongoing depending on the day still 🙈. Think having so much going on is just not helping. Found out that my iron is a bit low so away to start on Iron tablets so wondering if that's been part of the shift in my moods as I know it can cause irritability.

Is anyone here watching One Born Every Minute and Formula feeding? 😂😂😂.... I'm completely the odd one out by today's standards it seems 😂.

GlitteryGreen · 04/07/2022 11:41

Just been for my first growth scan (30 weeks today) and baby is looking good, 3.7lbs :)

Currently laying in a frank breech position though with feet right up by their face! Hopefully it turns in the next few weeks🙈

Paprikapommes · 04/07/2022 13:35

Anyone else have a chronic sweet tooth? I was sure I'd have GD but just got my negative results back. I ate a whole pot of ice cream on saturday, I'm daydreaming about biscuits for this cup of tea I've just made and I could easily devour a watermelon every other day if I let myself. I think tiredness might also play a part.

Has anyone found a healthy-ish sweet treat that might help me not eat such rubbish?

Yes! I seem to daydream about galaxy caramels constantly!

madeleine85 · 04/07/2022 15:13

Thanks everyone. Very ready for my checkup on Thursday this week and scan on Friday to see how things really are. At this stage last time I’d already had one hospital stay and lost my mucus plug, so I’m just happy to be passing that “milestone” without the same thing happening. Must keep hydrating though 😂.

@Paprikapommes I love sweet food but it’s making me tired now (similar to first trimester). Finding that golden kiwis and peaches are helping. Not the same though! Says she who ate chocolate raisins for breakfast. Im literally packing malteasers and minstrels in my hospital bag!

TurquoiseDreamCatcher · 04/07/2022 15:34

@Paprikapommes I adore chocolate and cake but it's a big no for me at the moment because I have GD.

I have a scan on Friday under the diabetic team, I think they will be checking growth and checking my sugar levels. I'm not feeling well at all at the moment, I'm constantly lightheaded and dizzy.

Later, I'm off to a parents evening. My DD is starting school in September and I will be meeting her teacher. My heart isn't ready for this new stage 🥺

Sweetbabydust1989 · 04/07/2022 18:00

@GlitteryGreen my little one is the same position every time the midwife sees me she thinks she has moved I am like nah she is comfortable sucking her toes 😂 I have a pic of her with a foot in her face one for the memory book.. I have my growth scan on Saturday dreading it as they said last week my lady is on the small side I am high risk for small babies so not surprised xx

HaresHoping · 04/07/2022 20:11

How did parents evening go @TurquoiseDreamCatcher? What a milestone, must be a very emotional time!

@Paprikapommes I could happily eat cake all day every day. I'm trying to stick to yoghurts or cereal bars but failing often...

I had a surprise growth scan today, they rang in the morning to book me in and I was in for 3.30 same day! Baby is measuring on the 69th centile, is just under 4lbs at the mo.

So pleased after all the stress we had in the first half of the pregnancy when we didn't know if he'd make it. It was strange going back to the clinic, the last time I was there was for the amniocentesis which took three weeks of appointments to achieve so was a very stressful time. To go back and have such a bang average experience was lovely but surreal! ❤️

Aw lovely to have photos !

TurquoiseDreamCatcher · 04/07/2022 20:26

@HaresHoping the school and the teachers seem to be lovely. I think DD will enjoy it there. I'm now slightly panicking about the logistics of getting DD there after having a c-section!

HaresHoping · 04/07/2022 21:08

I know I was so pleased @legaltigger! I think the doc took pity because DH was stuck at home with covid. Was so nice of her! 🥰

Ahh that's great @TurquoiseDreamCatcher ❤️ god the logistics though... when do you find out the date you'll go in or do you have it already? Can your other half go with you and you all go as a family at first maybe so he can do the driving etc?

At the moment, the hospital have suggested a date of either 13th or 6th, all depending how the pregnancy develops with the GD. I just want to be there for the first day. I'm sure DH's paternity leave can be taken during those two weeks of school though 🤞🏻

MummyToBe2022 · 05/07/2022 06:40

Morning all.
Lovely to see how you are all progressing and that how things are becoming so real now.

My baby is constantly on the move and I've had to pull over a couple of times when it nestles under my ribs.

I have my next growth scan next week to check on baby again. This pregnancy is so different to my last 2.
Especially with our we can't just contact our midwife now and that we have to go through the drs.

My community midwife is shocking this time and it's really starting to stress me out.
I saw my first one at 10 weeks and then heard nothing from her, I had to get in touch with her to book my 25 week appointment and found out that my midwife had changed. Got booked in at a weekend clinic so saw a totally different midwife. Then I had to contact my midwife again for my 28 week appointment.
Finally met my midwife who seemed lovely and I finally felt like things would run smoothly but she didn't have access to her bookings so said she will ring me to book my 31 week appointment.
She should of rung last Friday but I heard nothing.
I'm 31 weeks on Saturday.
I just feel like I'm chasing her all of the time when she should be the one ensuring I'm booked in.
As anyone else had this stress? I keep forgetting to call as I'm working full time (TA) I have to sort appointments for my epilepsy and blood tests every 4 weeks and I feel like I'm just constantly chasing 😩

If I don't hear from her today, I'm going to have to ring my drs again to get a message to her.

Sorry for the rant x

HaresHoping · 05/07/2022 07:15

Ah sorry to hear that @MummyToBe2022 that is stressful. My midwife isn't great either, I have had to book every appointment myself (but thought this was normal) aside from when she was away and I saw another midwife who was super lovely, able to take my blood in one go (not 4 attempts 😬) and made the effort to book me in there and then for the next appointment. Sadly I'm back to seeing the original midwife this week 🙄😂 it's frustrating isn't it, luck of the draw!

@MummyToBe2022 yes I'm having an experience like this with midwives... I saw one for my first allocated appointment, and sat in the waiting room for 2 hours whilst my partner sat in the car for the same waiting. I didn't have more than 15 minutes with her so I couldn't ask any questions I had. Then my car broke down so I couldn't make the next appointment, when I cancelled, I left a message asking to call me back at a convenient time for her to rebook. I didn't hear back, tried calling multiple times on 3 different days and it just kept ringing with no answerphone. Their phones are forwarded to each other's in case they are helping with a birth/away etc, and I could never reach anyone! I even sent texts just in case she'd respond to those. So I just left it and figured that all feels well for me so it's okay to miss the urine testing and belly measuring.

When I went to the hospital for the anti-D injection the nurse did the tests and luckily all was fine. But urged me to make the next appointments. I went away for work/pleasure for 12 days and have just got back and stuck in to work on our farm land, and I'm sure I'm due another appointment. There aren't often occasions between 9-5 I feel motivated to try calling. I feel unsupported and uncared for. I'm grateful for this forum and the internet to be able to answer my questions and queries!

I do not want a stranger delivering my first baby, as it's such an important day, and I feel so disheartened that I don't have any consistency or relationship with a midwife, and it would be a lucky dip on the day of who shows up, then they could have a shift change and the midwife could leave part way through labour... it all feels so inconducive to a safe and smooth birth. I am going to meet a doula this morning who I've met before and like, so if she's available, she will be the only person I rely on being there (other than my partner!)

MummyToBe2022 · 05/07/2022 07:34

@HaresHoping it's totally different from when I had my last 10 years ago.
That was so smooth. Had an appointment and my next one was booked there and then.
I just don't get why they are so laid back now.

@Celyn22 oh my it sounds like you have had it rough.
I have been under a consultant so was at the hospital every 2 weeks since 16 weeks until 24 weeks so I was being checked by them but my community midwife is shocking.
I'm not under our district hospital either so she don't have any of my notes.
It's so frustrating because they have a duty of care and for all she knows something could of happened to me and she would be non the wiser because she hasn't followed it up.

Hope your doula is available to put your mind at rest a little x

Is anyone experiencing braxton hicks?? It's like I have hit 29 weeks and bam it's all coming I just feel so odd today xx
