@KizboBaggins with our first we didn't buy the isofix base thinking it'd be fine... I think we Amazon primed it about 3 days post birth ๐Ÿ˜‚

annie1994 · 13/06/2022 13:54

Can I ask for your opinions pleaseโ€ฆ

So up till just after 36 weeks my baby was transverse/ breech. Then he went head down (scan confirmed this). But today Iโ€™m 37+5 and I feel like he may be transverse again!! It felt like it did before - hard lump on either side of my belly, kicks are belly button height etc.

Transverse lie can be dangerous and increased risks if my waters break at home.

I rung up the non urgent number and they said theyโ€™d get my midwife to call me to let me know if I need to be seen now or can wait till my appointment on Wednesday. I still havenโ€™t heard from her, I donโ€™t know whether I should call again or just wait till Wednesday? What would you all do? I donโ€™t want to be a nuisance (especially if it turns out heโ€™s not even changed positions!!)

Mattieandmummy · 13/06/2022 14:10

@Lianna93 Be careful with hand knitted stuff, I totally ruined a few things accidentally. If you can, ask what the wool is that has been used if it's acrylic you can use a 30 degree cycle. If it's super wash wool then 30 degrees is also fine, if it's 100% actual wool with no super wash then hand wash cycle.

strawberrysummer19 · 13/06/2022 15:08

@annie1994 personally I would call again and wouldn't wait until Wednesday
I think that if you have any worries - and just need reassurance they won't mind you calling again
When I had covid I called the non emergency number as I had to collect my injections
They said someone would call when they was ready but they didn't call...
I left it until 430 to get told it was too late and had to call collect them the next day and sorry as they had forgot as they were busy
So they probably don't think it's an urgent thing hence why they haven't called but that doesn't stop you worrying x

Lianna93 · 13/06/2022 15:56

@Mattieandmummy The stuff we've been given by my DH's granny she said could be tumble dried. I'm not sure about the stuff I received from my work though. My plan had been maybe just stick it all on a cold wash with a very gentle spin cycle & hope for the best ๐Ÿ™ˆ๐Ÿ˜‚

@strawberrysummer19 thank you for replying! Not long after I posted that, she called me. I had to then talk to triage and the plan is appointment brought forward to tomorrow morning to check his position. Any sign of labour at all over night (even just mild period pains) I have to go straight to hospital! I feel like I have a right pickle on my handsโ€ฆ just like his older brother!! ๐Ÿ˜‚

strawberrysummer19 · 13/06/2022 17:10

@annie1994 I'm glad they got back to you and you have a plan x

KizboBaggins · 13/06/2022 18:57

@MollyRover that's interesting that they don't know availability. The nursery we're looking at is fully booked until January, I'm looking to start him there in March so they've put him on the list. But they won't secure his place until we pay a ยฃ100 deposit ๐Ÿ™„ but on the application they want to know his name, his date of birth, days of the week he'll be there, his GP - all things I do not know yet lol so I'm reluctant to fork over yet.

Can't believe I'm worrying about all this before he's even here ๐Ÿ˜…

Good to hear the consensus on Isofix! You've convinced me it's a necessity. I'm gonna get one in the next few weeks.

@ShellUK09 how adorable having a dog seat! We've got a bloody labrador so no chance he's gonna fit in the back with baby. He's relegated to the boot. He's gonna be fuming.

MollyRover · 13/06/2022 19:41

@KizboBaggins I'm sure they could if they wanted to, they know their capacity. They're very flaky since COVID, but the other daycare was on the road to closure since long before Covid- and it's not as if they weren't full even then so it's really a question of poor management and prioritizing profit. Just have to keep our fingers crossed and keep on top of them.

KizboBaggins · 13/06/2022 19:43

@MollyRover urgh they sound like they could be a bit of a nightmare! Hope they come through for you. Not something you want to have to be worrying about is it

Mattieandmummy · 13/06/2022 19:53

@Lianna93 oh great the tumble dry stuff will be superwash or acrylic, it's pretty handy stuff. We got some really beautiful things that had to be hand washed and I basically stopped using them because they such a pain to get any stains out of ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

CaptainCarp · 13/06/2022 20:40

So 37 weeks today & officially term!
Had backache & stomach ache since about lunchtime today.
Feeling pretty uncomfortable.

@annie1994 hopefully all goes well tomorrow & baby isn't transverse.

KizboBaggins · 13/06/2022 20:43

Congrats @CaptainCarp ! On hitting term, not on the stomach and back ache ๐Ÿ˜ฌ Have you finished work now?

I have 14 working days left... ๐Ÿ˜ณ

CaptainCarp · 13/06/2022 21:04

@KizboBaggins thanks it still hasn't really hit me that baby could arrive any time now.
Not finishing work until 24th June! Although will have to keep an eye & if needs be finish a little earlier.

It probably serves me right for being a bit smug about not being uncomfortable in the 3rd trimester! ๐Ÿ˜‚ Finally hitting me!

KizboBaggins · 13/06/2022 21:17

@CaptainCarp wow you're much braver than I am ๐Ÿ˜… definitely make sure you keep an eye on how you're feeling! I think my boss would be in constant fear of me going into labour in the office if I didn't stop at 37 weeks lol

I've been feeling pretty good in the third trimester so far too, but I'm only just 34 weeks today so I feel like I'm basically just waiting for the discomfort to start...

CaptainCarp · 13/06/2022 22:29

@KizboBaggins brave or stupid ๐Ÿค” ๐Ÿ˜‚
I have an office job so thought I'd be OK working up to my due date. Now they've brought it forward with the induction but not sure whether to take some extra days off.

Got quite a bit done last week in preparation though & I think that I was probably more productive than I will at 38 weeks.

DP decided to look up "what does a contraction feel like" & wondered if I was having them! Must admit think I might be having braxton hicks after reading it!

Hope3821 · 13/06/2022 22:33

@ShellUK09 aw your dachshund must be the perfect size for baby and dog together in the car. We have a wheatador (wheaton terrior x lab) but he's mostly wheaton. He's 1 year old, mental and super friendly so if we left him on the back he'd probably try to lick the baby's face the whole time! ๐Ÿ˜…

@annie1994 Keeping fingers crossed for you that your check goes well tomorrow, hope you get some rest tonight X

@CaptainCarp congrats on getting to full term! I can't believe I'll be the same in 3 weeks time, eeeks!

Well, today we found out we didn't get offer accepted on a house we were bidding on and then my mum phoned to say she's coming to visit next week for a whole week and she can be a very difficult guest! I think with those 2 bits of bad news in one day my husband might abandon me and go live on an exotic island!! ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜ฉ๐Ÿ˜†

CaptainCarp · 13/06/2022 22:34

That should say working up to the week before my due date! Which I'm now getting induced on what was meant to be my 1st day off.

NotAsOldAsIFeel · 14/06/2022 08:21

Hi all, I found out yesterday that I'm being induced on Tuesday next week instead of waiting for my due date of 4th July, as baby is apparently a bit of a giant. Is this the same date as you @annie1994 ? To say I was shocked would be an understatement!! I finished work a while ago and have been working hard every day to get baby things/the house/DH/DD/me ready and thought I'd have time to relax a bit as well. Phoned my mum and had a meltdown yesterday and she took the rest of my jobs away from me and told me in no uncertain terms to relax from now. Aren't mums WONDERFUL. I've no idea how some of you are planning to work so late - when are you doing all your prep? I'm also really struggling at this late stage now so everything is taking a lot more effort with little sleep at the end of it. You're heroes anyway! I think we all are :)

missv556 · 14/06/2022 08:55

@NotAsOldAsIFeel how big is your baby? I'm in a similar situation. Growth scan at 34+5 last Friday showing baby is still hovering between 90-97 centile weighing 6lbs 3ozs but no one is talking to me about what the plan is moving forward. I'm not in touch with a consultant or anything

MollyRover · 14/06/2022 09:44

@NotAsOldAsIFeel that's a great day (midsummer), and coincidentally my birthday!! I can understand how you feel- take your mother's advice and get your feet up now, you deserve it. Obviously you're just a super efficient baby grower ๐Ÿ˜. I'm a bit jealous, nice to get to the finish line a bit earlier!

NotAsOldAsIFeel · 14/06/2022 10:27

@missv556 first growth scan estimated he was 7lb 5oz at 36+2. I'd been reassured they'd want a second growth scan before deciding on induction but apparently his size is alarming enough to whip him out asap. My consultant appt was scheduled at the same time as the growth scan for 2 weeks later, maybe check with your MW about who you can talk to? Bit rubbish to be left in the dark about it tho!

@MollyRover I'm definitely taking her advice now and am still lounging around in bed atm haha, currently filling my online Tesco shop with yummy snacks to take with me. My bag is already full but my DH is one of those ppl who could squeeze an elephant into a shoebox just by rolling it the right way so I have faith. Happy birthday for next week, I hope you have plans to relax too?

Lianna93 · 14/06/2022 11:48

37 weeks today! Feels amazing that I'm almost at that finish line ๐Ÿ˜ Genuinely cannot wait to be done pregnant ๐Ÿ™ˆ I so wanted to love being pregnant but it's been quite the opposite unfortunately but I'm super excited (weirdly) for labour starting & birthing my baby ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜

@NotAsOldAsIFeel Ahh how exciting that the first of babies will be born next week! I'm convinced I'm going early - got 27th June stuck in my head ๐Ÿ™ˆ๐Ÿ˜‚

missv556 · 14/06/2022 11:59

@NotAsOldAsIFeel see I've had 3 growth scans now and he's been big at all of them. I have another next week at 36+4 and he'll defo be 7lbs+ by then if he's gaining half a pound a week. See my midwife tomorrow so I'll have a word then too. It's nice you have the end in sight and know when your baby is coming.

Mattieandmummy · 14/06/2022 12:04

@NotAsOldAsIFeel that's exciting or at least I hope it is!

I'll be working right to the end and haven't done any prep other than wash some baby clothes we kept from our first baby and buy some newborn nappies. My first was a week and a half overdue so I'm a bit gung ho second time around. Haven't even packed my hospital bag. Probably should get my arse in gear though as I'm having a C-section in three and a half weeks. ๐Ÿ˜‚
