I keep getting the feeling of my chest / lungs feeling heavy / like someoneโ€™s sat on them. Iโ€™m gonna assume itโ€™s the baby pushing my organs up against the lungs and itโ€™s not causing any problems other that feeling uncomfortable, but very strange!

I had my baby shower today and baby has been very spoilt! I know understand why people say donโ€™t buy anything until after your baby shower ๐Ÿ˜…

missv556 · 12/06/2022 08:14

I stood up from the sofa a few nights ago and heard the biggest click. I was sure my pelvis had cracked or something so happy to hear its normal and others have had the same thing

strawberrysummer19 · 12/06/2022 08:33

@Coco9910 I get that,it's where all our organs are getting squished (I believe)
I've been pretty breathless throughout my pregnancy

On another note I was feeling lots of movements to my right hand side last night
Early hours. So strong they kept me awake.
The movement was always only ever to my left ( have high anterior placenta) and movement for me was later on and some days feels muffled and have been worried and posted on here about it - always ok when I go in
Anyway I've felt her move down and have discomfort in my pelvic area last 2 weeks and scan shows head down
But I'm worried she may have turned transverse due to this movement last night

Luckily have growth scan Wednesday xx

@Gaily82 So sorry to hear about your hip pain. It sounds like it could be sciatica. Definitely worth raising that with your doc/midwife if you haven't already as there might be something they can prescribe that will help and at least let you get a good night's rest. As for Covid, what a worry! I'm sorry your mum and dad caught this wretched thing, and I hope you managed to escape it. That said, if you're fully vaxxed and boosted, most preggo ladies I know have been able to cope with it okay. Not ideal, obviously, but they've managed.

My ECV was Friday thanks for asking! โค It was unsuccessful, sadly. I'm pretty disappointed in the outcome but glad I tried. The procedure was... medieval to be honest, pretty barbaric. I think it's very uncomfortable for most women but there were moments for me when it was agony, even with gas and air. The obstetrician tried for around 15 minutes and moved her about 30 degrees, but baby sprang back into place when they released pressure, and at one point her head got sort of caught in my ribs which was when it really hurt and made me feel sick. It also took a lot longer than I expected with the monitoring, and the fact I had to have bloods done and another anti-D injection after it. About six hours altogether and the ward was quiet - I didn't have to wait for the consultant or registrar at all. An odd experience. I wouldn't actively discourage other women from doing it though, if the conditions are right, because sometimes it is very easy and quick. FTMs have a harder time of it because everything is tighter. The success rate there is actually only 40%, not 50% which is often quoted but lumps in mums who have birthed before. The muscle relaxant they gave me made me a shake a little, and I've learned that my ridiculous brain can focus very acutely on pain through constant gas and air, so that pain relief option might next to useless if she does turn and I end up having a vaginal birth. Who knows?! They've said I can try again and I'm tempted because I'm stubborn, but I'm just not convinced it'll work. I have a c-section booked for 29th June now.

@annie1994Good luck! I really hope you get your c-section. Hopefully if you notify everyone asap that you're losing your plug, they'll be better prepared to support you with the birth you want. I'll keep my fingers crossed!

@missv556 We're using reusables and have a good stash, but for hospital and the first week, I've got a back of Bambo Naturals, and two packs of Aldi Mamia ones, which I've been told are pretty good. As I may be in a couple of days with the c-section, I'm taking two packs with me.

@Lianna93 I had no idea baby could click! I'm pretty sure all my clicking is me though. Every time I get out of bed, CLICK! It's stiff and uncomfortable but not painful. I feel like I might fall apart. ๐Ÿ˜‚In other news, I managed to sit on the sofa uninterrupted for quite a while yesterday, so I feel like something must've changed because that killed my hips and back last week.

MollyRover · 12/06/2022 09:48

@Coco9910 having my baby shower today, hoping to get that pregnancy massage I've been dropping hints about ๐Ÿ˜…. Looking forward to a nice afternoon tea with the girls, maybe my last real outing before the big event. Very exciting!!

laurenGame · 12/06/2022 18:23

@kiwi17 I'm booked for induction on Tuesday in two weeks, and we are 'checking in' into the hospital the afternoon before that. With my DP. I think a birthing partner should be allowed to be with you?

In other news, does anyone have any areas on the stomach where they feel numbness? Top of my belly is very itchy and when I itch it feels numbs - I presume it's my muscles splitting Sad expecting loads of stretch marks to appear any day because of that.
37 weeks tomorrow. Oiling up several times a day now. I know most of it is genetic. Sigh

Coco9910 · 12/06/2022 21:18

@strawberrysummer19 ahh thatโ€™s what I thought it might be! Iโ€™m going to mention it to my midwife just in case, but I guess everythingโ€™s getting quite squashed in there now ๐Ÿ˜…

@MollyRover i hope you had a nice baby shower and the massage hints were received ๐Ÿ˜‚

MollyRover · 12/06/2022 21:49

@laurenGame looked in the mirror this morning and I am destroyed with stretch marks, which must have only popped up since Friday. I keep trying to remind myself how amazing my body is but right now it's hard to really feel that.

Thanks @Coco9910!!! Was a lovely afternoon, the hints were received loud and clear so I've mailed the massage practice to book in for 90 minutes of bliss asap. Also booked pedi and hair appointments so I'm in for plenty of treats for the coming week or so. Making the most of my leave ๐Ÿคฉ.

Anyone have any pointers on baby clothes and other bits washing? Like, do they have to be done on 90 degrees? What about my bedsheets, clothes, bouncy chair cover, stuff from the maxi-cosi? Cuddly toys? Very simple thing to Google I know but I prefer coming here ๐Ÿ˜…. Can't remember for the life of me what I did last time!

@MollyRover I washed all my baby clothes/bedding on a 30ยฐC with a gentle spin cycle but all the tags recommended a 40ยฐC. Washed everything in non bio as well, then tumble dried anything that could be done in the drier - had hoped to hang it all outside but as per usual, Scotland has rain ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜‚
I made sure to check all my tags on stuff though because there were a few items that couldn't be done in the machine like some of the comforters & soft teddies we've been gifted.
My next lot to wash is sleeping bags & then things that have been knitted for us - I'm not entirely sure if knitted things can be machine washed though ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

@MollyRover I washed mine at 40! 90 that's almost boiling water haha I'm too tight to spend that much on washing ๐Ÿ˜‚
Well I do tumble dry everything though- and managed to shrink a lot of baby clothes! Even though it's all cotton/linen. Maybe I need to reduce the heat but all clothes look tiny now, maybe I'm imagining it

MollyRover · 13/06/2022 07:30

@laurenGame I've stopped at work now so I left my brain there too. That's why I come here, so I don't have to think ๐Ÿคฃ. Thanks for setting me straight, I'll get everything done between today and tomorrow and straighten up the room for before the cleaner gets here on Friday.

When do you think is a good time to put the maxi cosi in the car? I was thinking 37 weeks....

missv556 · 13/06/2022 08:20

Woken up with a horrendous cough that hurts and I've lost my voice pretty much ๐Ÿ˜• has anyone lost their voice before? How long does it typically go for?

SamanthaVimes · 13/06/2022 08:43

@MollyRover I think 37 weeks is a good time to get the car seat in the car. Make sure you and your DP have a practice putting it in and out, you donโ€™t want to be figuring it out for the first time when thereโ€™s a teeny newborn in there!

ShellUK09 · 13/06/2022 08:54

I washed the baby clothes in non bio at 30 degrees. Wasn't entirely sure whether to use fabric conditioner or not as there's differing views online about it (as there is with everything) although NHS website says it is fine to do so. I didn't use fabric conditioner this time even though we use a sensitive one anyway so it would probably have been fine. I loved hanging the little clothes on the line ๐Ÿฅฐ

MollyRover · 13/06/2022 09:10

@SamanthaVimes not our first rodeo so we're versed in car seat tomfoolery, luckily ๐Ÿ˜. Isofix base is a must, bonus points for swivel function!!

KizboBaggins · 13/06/2022 10:00

@MollyRover please help me convince DH that an Isofix base is a must! He reckons it'll be fine just using the seat belt but when he's back at work and it's just me trying to wrangle a newborn and a dog into the car I can see myself losing my temper with a seatbelt very quickly ๐Ÿ˜…

NamelessBaby1 · 13/06/2022 10:39

@KizboBaggins I didn't even give DH an option, haha. Reckon it will be me doing most of the baby wrangling so I got whatever I thought would make my life easier!

KizboBaggins · 13/06/2022 10:43

@NamelessBaby1 haha yeah I think I'm just going to buy one. He'll love it when we've got it. We've been trying not to buy stuff unnecessarily but I think it's a good investment.

We rather stupidly looked at the cost of nurseries/childminders recently so we are trying to hold on to every penny ๐Ÿ˜‚

NamelessBaby1 · 13/06/2022 10:48

I'm in complete denial about childcare at the moment and keep hoping that between working from home and hopefully my mum retiring and moving closer we'll be fine, lol! Might be in for a big shock at some point- but I'll worry about that next year ๐Ÿคฃ

Yeah to me the travel system / car seat was the one thing I was willing to go full price on as I wanted it to be exactly what suited me, whereas I feel everything else isn't quite so important! It helps I had parents and grandparents who wanted to chip in towards it though!

I also have a completely numb top of bump. The midwife said she hadn't come across it before and my baby was below the numbness but wasn't concerned. My physio said it will take some weeks post birth for the nerves to recover and sensation to come back. It's driving me mad!

MollyRover · 13/06/2022 12:26

@KizboBaggins with DC1 we went a few weeks without the base and then caved ๐Ÿคฃ.

Yes daycare is causing me a bit of stress too. We've had the application in since January but they've told us they won't be able to check availability until 6 months before, which is my due date. Child in DC1s class has twin sisters who were both in different daycares due to lack of availability and the other one has now closed ๐Ÿ™„. We can manage on 2-3 days per week so hopefully they'll stretch to that but it's frustrating they can't tell us anything. I'll be knocking on the door on the due date!!!

Hope3821 · 13/06/2022 12:31

I agree you definitely need an isofix, we got ours with our pram. Just got to figure out how to fit baby, buggy and doggy into the car now! Poor pooch will be miffed to have to go in the boot since he's had all the back seats up to now ๐Ÿ˜‚

Making up lists for buying all the stuff as I'm 34+3 now. I think we'll need to start getting our breakfast, lunch & dinners from the MIL next door! So expensive, so many little bits and we've had hardly any hand-me-downs ๐Ÿ™ˆ

I'll mainly be at home mum apart from my small classes I run. But agreed to a short teaching job next January with no clue about childminding. Just jumping in head first! ๐Ÿ˜‚

ShellUK09 · 13/06/2022 12:42

@Hope3821 we will have an isofix base on one side of the car, and a dog car seat for our dachshund on the other side ๐Ÿ˜‚ think I might look for one of those mirrors you can fit in the back so I can see the baby as you have to have them rear facing initially. Hopefully our dog won't be too miffed!

SamanthaVimes · 13/06/2022 12:55

@MollyRover swivel base is a must for me! Donโ€™t know how Iโ€™d have coped without it ๐Ÿ˜… looks so awkward to get them in otherwise
