@Hope3821 these are all good reasons to be feeling awful! Sorry your husbands friend is such a d*! Him doing that puts pressure on you guys which is so unfair.. Making your husband choose between his heavily pregnant wife and his mate. Its quite a nasty thing to do. Has your husband tried speaking to him about it to see if he can find room in the numbers?

Sounds like youre extra vulnerable just now recovering from covid too. There are people who arent pregnant who struggle to revover so be extra kind to yourself and allow time. Dont worry what other people say. Ive actually found some of the most unhelpful people in late pregnancy are mothers! 'I painted the whole hoose at 38 weeks pregnant' aye thats great agnes, do you want a medal? ๐Ÿ˜‚ Its so personal and you have to listen to your own body and advocate for yourself when nobody else is making allowances. Its only about you and baba and this isnt forever! โค๏ธ Hope you have a better day today, do something nice just for you! โค๏ธโค๏ธ

JJ1992 · 11/06/2022 10:06

Also I really cannot wait to finish work so I can stop wearing pants and bras all day ๐Ÿ˜‚ literally my biggest gripe about working at the moment. And yesterday was sooo hot I could barely hold a conversation. 8 days to go! And i hopefully can skive a lot in the last couple ๐Ÿ˜‚

NamelessBaby1 · 11/06/2022 10:14

@JJ1992 "I painted the whole hoose at 38 weeks pregnant' aye thats great agnes, do you want a medal? " that really made me laugh, lol.

I'm the same about work but I still don't mind wearing clothes haha. Only 5 days left for me and a few of them are just doing handover meetings and skiving around saying bye to people so should be fairly easy going!

I am getting so hot at night though, waking up sweating buckets all the time! Poor wee baby must be getting boiled alive in there.

Even though some people are getting aches and pains and have some concerns, I feel like we are all doing pretty well on the whole! still surprised we haven't had any early arrivals yet though (at least not that we know about!)

HotToddyColdSauvignon · 11/06/2022 12:07

@JJ1992 not going to lie, I finished my last day at work yesterday and said to DH, โ€œthatโ€™s it, Iโ€™m not wearing a bra again now until the baby arrivesโ€

currently sat in the garden with an ice pop and boobs practically down to my knees but oh my goodness itโ€™s fab!

JJ1992 · 11/06/2022 13:12

@HotToddyColdSauvignon sounds absolutely bliss ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

Lianna93 · 11/06/2022 13:14

@HotToddyColdSauvignon Extremely jealous of you out in your garden ๐Ÿ˜ญ It's blowing a gail where I am ๐Ÿ˜ฉ Been like nonstop rain for days too - not how I pictured my maternity leave going ๐Ÿ˜‚ More fool me for thinking Scotland could produce more than 1 sunny day ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

Anyone just do the honest midwife labour class?! I genuinely think it's one of the best ones I've attended & I've just signed up for part 2!

OP posts:
strawberrysummer19 · 11/06/2022 13:59

Haha I'm feeling you on the bra situation!

Gave up on them weeks ago! I wear support tops instead- I'm not sure I'll go back to bras -after! Only when I go out maybe. For home/work luckily it's just baggy clothes so I can get away with it
I'm 32F so not attractive!!

On another note I've called triage and they've asked me to come in - I saw my friend and showed her my bump and she said by belly button looks sore and infected! After her listening to me moaning and crying out she said that's not right and has made me worry (even more) as I've not actually been seen my GP/midwife only sent pictures
Even when I called triage they said they are surprised no one has actually seen me in person
I've tried not to worry this week as I know that I am anxious and have been feeling more anxiety the last 2 weeks as think as time gets closer I'm anxious re the birth
So I'm very happy I'm here

Waiting to be seen....if I can come away with some reassurance that would be lovely

I googled infected belly button (know I shouldn't but that's what my friend said it looked like ) and didn't like what I read

Anyway glad to be here

Hate this feeling of trying not to be over anxious and think straight but then when to call for advice !!

Hope everyone is having a nice Saturday - weather is lovely xx

@strawberrysummer19 Hope you get some answers - keep us updated ๐Ÿฅฐ

strawberrysummer19 · 11/06/2022 14:46

@Lianna93 thank you
I was in and out
Midwife doesn't think there's any cause for
Concern - says no infection and doesn't even think it's a rash which was my concern that something was internal
But she think it's just my skin stretching ๐Ÿง
Oh well feel better for going in
Best to be on the safe side I think xx

Lianna93 · 11/06/2022 14:48

@strawberrysummer19 Aw definitely! Glad it's not anything serious ๐Ÿ˜ Hopefully it eases up for you soon ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿป

Hello everyone,

is there a difference between losing your mucus plug and having your bloody show? Because for my first son I had a sweep and then that night had a bloody show, gave birth like 5 days later.

For this baby, Iโ€™ve been losing bits of my mucus plug all week but itโ€™s been like phelgmy colour (TMI sorry ๐Ÿ˜‚) no blood or anything. I just donโ€™t know whether to think am I going into labour soonish or are these bits of mucus plug nothing really until I get my โ€˜bloody showโ€™??

I donโ€™t even know if this question makes sense ๐Ÿ˜‚ Iโ€™m 37+3.

Lianna93 · 11/06/2022 16:00

@annie1994 This was literally covered in the class I did this morning. The woman said that losing your mucus plug can either be bloody or it can be clear ๐Ÿ˜Š
How exciting!

How many packs of Nappies are people starting off with? And which brand/shop? I've not brought any. My friend brought me one pack of aldi ones and I got a pack of pampers free from Emma's diary

annie1994 · 11/06/2022 16:08

@Lianna93 oh ok thanks! I think because I had such a definite โ€œbloody showโ€ first time I kinda expected that again. But saying that I had a sweep last time so that probably dislodged it properly.

I actually donโ€™t want to go into labour as Iโ€™m booked for a c section due to a traumatic first birth!! But thatโ€™s not for another week or 2. So this is my biggest fear but I guess we will just see ๐Ÿ˜–

Lianna93 · 11/06/2022 16:29

@missv556 I've got 4 packs of first size. 2 packs of pampers from Emma diary, 1 Lidl & 1 aldi so I can compare all of them. The class I did this morning recommended taking 24 in your hospital bag.

@annie1994 I'm sorry to hear that ๐Ÿ˜ž Surely with labour potentially starting early though, they'd still go ahead with your C-section since that's your preference & what you're already booked in for anyways? ๐Ÿค” I literally have no clue how all this works, this is my first & I'm only just getting round to doing classes ๐Ÿ˜ฌ๐Ÿ˜‚

OP posts:
Lianna93 · 11/06/2022 16:32

@missv556 I'm also considering trying out reusable for when I'm in the house as I'm conscious about how wasteful disposable nappies are and I like being able to save money wherever possible - even if it's just a small saving ๐Ÿ˜‚

OP posts:
annie1994 · 11/06/2022 16:50

@Lianna93 well I think that would be the case! I think, if they can, theyโ€™d still give me a c section. But the problem is, my first labour was quick so I have the real fear of not making it to the hospital in time!! Or by the time I do get there, Iโ€™ll be too far along but I guess if it gets to that point, Iโ€™ll just have to crack on ๐Ÿ˜ณ

kiwi17 · 11/06/2022 16:56

We used reusable nappies for our first - very much recommend. I got a big bundle off Facebook marketplace for about ยฃ70 and they lasted us inrol she potty trained. Are washed and stuffed ready to go again for number 2 ๐Ÿ˜ have got a pack of disposables for the first few days though just in case!

Lianna93 · 11/06/2022 17:47

@annie1994 Hopefully that won't be the case - but if it is, I truly hope it goes better this time around ๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿป

@kiwi17 My baby box came with a voucher for a free pair, so figured I'd get that & see how I find it ๐Ÿ˜Š

OP posts:
strawberrysummer19 · 11/06/2022 19:12

@missv556 I have one pack of nappies to take to hospital with me and one at home

I'm having a baby shower next weekend so will see what is bought after that as my friend had one last week and lots of people did hampers with nappies in.

My first I had a bloody show at 10pm, she was born the next day at 13:52

I'm not sure what to expect with this one....
@annie1994 hopefully you will get your c section
I too had a traumatic first birth
I've spoken to my midwife and consultant and have opted for an induction at 39wks with early induction as it was either that or a c section
I also have a birth call tomorrow to talk over my last birth and to prepare for this one so will see if I change my mind
I also have an birth talk on zoom tomorrow @Lianna93 which I think you put details on this post a while back xx

Hope3821 · 11/06/2022 19:22

Omg thank you so much @MollyRover @annie1994 @JJ1992 @Lianna93 I so appreciate your support and kind words ๐Ÿฅฐ and thanks to the whole thread, just being able to get it off my chest helped so much, thanks all for hearing me, I'm feeling a lot better today ๐Ÿ’– Covid is a right b*rd tho!!

@JJ1992 I'm actually Scottish but don't live there anymore so I LOVE your comment about painting the hoose, took me right back home to the craic!! ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ Aye mothers can be the worst with their inappropriateness! Am looking forward to becoming one ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ

@annie1994 do you have a dedicated (and supportive) midwife you can call and ask? First timer here so not even sure of labour signs yet, but I'd hope there's someone on call for you to guide you in any case, now you're term and wanting C-section. Hope you're OK and it all goes your way ๐Ÿ’•

Lianna93 · 11/06/2022 19:47

Bit of an odd one but does anyone else hear a clicking noise when baby is moving about? I can't identify if it's coming from my back, pelvis or hips but I definitely seem to click when she moves ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

OP posts:
NamelessBaby1 · 11/06/2022 21:17

@Lianna93 I can't remember if it was on here or Reddit, but I was talking about that previously and said I reckon it's either ligaments adjusting, or the baby is using echolocation to communicate with me, haha. I've been getting the clicking noise for a good few months now and again, seems to have slowed down a bit I guess as my stomach is already now so stretched, but still get it on occasion when baby is moving a lot!

I've also got some reusable nappies to try out, bought a couple of sample bundles at the baby show recently but also have a few big boxes of disposables too for the first few weeks and going out and about and whatnot. I do like how cute the reusable ones can be though, I got ones from Little Lambs that are so cute and fluffy lol, can't wait to see them up on the washing line as I'm sad like that ๐Ÿ˜†

KizboBaggins · 11/06/2022 21:49

@Lianna93 yes I have that too! I heard the biggest click/pop from my crotch last night I was scared to move as I was convinced my pelvis had cracked

Lianna93 · 11/06/2022 22:02

@NamelessBaby1 @KizboBaggins So I googled it & answered my own question ๐Ÿ˜‚ According to Google - it's the baby! It's her moving about & her limbs clicking... I fully expected it to be me! She's been so wriggly today as well!
