Hello!

I have noticed on quite a few of the threads I've been reading that the odd person will comment they are pregnant with twins, but I can't see a current twins thread.

I'm almost 28 weeks with dcda twins. Have a nearly 2 year old as well. Have so far found the pregnancy pretty straightforward but the aches and pains and tiredness are starting to hit me now. And I feel like I am getting quite large! Although I think relatively given there are 2 in there I'm probably not that big really.

Anyone at a similar stage and want to compare notes over the coming weeks?

@Betseyrov thank you. Finally was able to nip and grab a few girly bits as well at least they now have 3 baby grows each lol but got to start somewhere

Betseyrov · 25/05/2022 20:38

@Comz shopping for girls is so much fun! I'm having two boys, I've only got them 2 babygrows each so far, including these from matalan
www.matalan.co.uk/product/detail/s2872148_c359/unisex-2-pack-twin-baby-grows-tiny-baby-12mths-white
I've already got some boys stuff in the attic but want to buy matching clothes for them. I've always wanted to have twins and dress them the same. I'm so glad they're the same sex, it's a dream come true 🥰

Comz · 26/05/2022 05:44

@Betseyrov see I’m not very girly but my daughter is and as she’s 13, she’s now in her element.

I love matalan for baby/kids clothes they wash really well and there’s always a good collection of things. We picked out a couple of bits from sainsburys but there was a better boys section than girls lol so I have a feeling it’s going to be like when I had my daughter and I didn’t like the girls selection anywhere.

The other half isn’t happy but will get over it as he wanted boys (mainly because he’s a lads lad and has 3 sisters so knows now he will get ganged up on as it’s basically a house full of girls, including the animals lol).

I know they will be daddy’s girls and it won’t be long before he’s playing tea party’s and painting nails lol.

Hiya ladies,
I've only just stumbled across this thread, hope it's okay to join! I'm currently 25 weeks with dcda twins, confirmed boy/girl at a private scan at 16 weeks then our 20 week scan, so exciting but also terrifying.

How is everyone else coping? I already feel ready to pop! I had my first growth scan today and the babies are both measuring on the 90th percentile, she is estimated at 2lbs, and he is estimated at 2lbs2oz, guessing it's why I feel this way already 🙈 didn't come as a huge shock though as my first was born at 40+5 (c section) weighing 10lb4oz!

applecrumbler · 27/05/2022 19:16

Hey @Tabee88 of course ok to join!

How old is your first? Sounds like you make big babies, will you have another section?

You're definitely on the home straight now :-)

@Betseyrov They shared a cot in our bedroom. Just a normal cot, but was loads of room for them to share; they did that until they started rolling on top of each other at 5 months 😀🤣 before we moved them to the nursery. Lullaby Trust and Twins Trust have loads of sleep advice for twins.
In the day for naps as newborns we had a travel cot set up downstairs which was a godsend. Other times they’d have a long sleep in the pram so I’d just push the pram inside (hence - defo get a pram that fits your front door!) - then as soon as they were old enough I transferred them to naps in their cots in the nursery to get some space back!!

Betseyrov · 28/05/2022 08:05

@MrsEG thanks for the tips. I'm going to go for the mountain duet I think, will definitely fit through my door.
what feeding pillow did you have? Did you breastfeed your twins?

Welcome @Tabee88 my bump feels super tight and uncomfortable, but only in the evening after dinner so I just go to bed and feel better the next day. I hope I will be able to avoid stretch marks again.

Betseyrov · 28/05/2022 08:07

@applecrumbler how are you doing? Is it still easy to cope after 30 weeks?

applecrumbler · 29/05/2022 22:33

@Betseyrov still ok thank you! Nearly 32 weeks now. Walked quite a lot this weekend and I do get tired but I would say it feels like it did just a bit later in my first pregnancy. Trying to protect my abs as much as possible to avoid Diastasis and slathering on the stretch mark cream!!! Still pleasantly surprised not to feel like a complete whale and by able to look after my toddler without too much trouble. 5 and a bit weeks to go, can't believe how soon it now is!

@applecrumbler Our eldest has just turned 3 and I'm 100% going for another c section, I just like the idea of fully knowing what to expect, especially if they are large! How old is your toddler?

@Betseyrov I feel you on the uncomfortable aspect, I keep saying to people that I have no idea how I'll make it through another 12-13 weeks, it already feels like they are trying to break me in half!

applecrumbler · 01/06/2022 10:29

@Tabee88 mine is almost 2, so we will have a normal sized gap in theory, but I think 3 of 2 and under is going to be a little bit wild 😂

According to the scan I just had I officially have more baby inside me than at the end of my singleton pregnancy! 🙌🥴

@applecrumbler I also found out today that the twins combined estimated weight today is heavier than my daughter at birth. Twin 1 is 4lb6oz and twin 2 4lb3oz. No wonder I am aching so much. I have decided to bring my mat leave a week earlier and to only work half days next week as I am struggling. How are you getting on?

applecrumbler · 03/06/2022 07:37

@Donimo I think you are one day ahead of me or something, and mine are measuring almost exactly the same.... there's a bit more difference between mine so the bigger one is 4.9 and other one 4.2. I don't feel like I've got that much baby on board though based on last time. I am achey but find that my daily baths with Epsom salts really help with that, have you tried that?

Donimo · 16/06/2022 14:50

Hi all. My twin girls were born at 33 weeks on Monday, after I had a uterine rupture. They are both doing well but in neonatal care. And due to me having an infection I'm not allowed to see them which is torture. So really feeling sorry for myself now

Glitterbug86 · 16/06/2022 15:07

Congrats @Donimo! Awh that can't be easy not getting to see them but hope you'll have that opportunity soon! And it will be magical ☺️ Hope you're able to get some rest in the meantime. How are you feeling?

Betseyrov · 16/06/2022 19:54

Congratulations @Donimo
How are you feeling? I'm sorry to hear you are not allowed to see them, must be so tough 😣 I hope you'll get to see them very soon

Tabee88 · 16/06/2022 20:52

Congratulations @Donimo! It must be so hard to be away from the babies though, how are they doing? More importantly, how are you? This must be so much to go through, sending a hug ❤️

Donimo · 16/06/2022 21:48

Thank you all. Today has been so hard as feeling ok but not allowed to see them. But should be able to in the morning and I can try to breastfeed them then too. So holding onto that tonight. I keep saying to myself in a few months I will be begging for a few hours to myself in peace and quiet so trying to make the most of some 'me time'. Hope everyone else is doing ok

Betseyrov · 17/06/2022 00:04

Aww @Donimo I've got everything crossed you'll see her in the morning. Are you ok yourself? Did you need surgery ? Is your partner with you? Sending you big hugs

Betseyrov · 17/06/2022 00:04

*See them

Glitterbug86 · 17/06/2022 08:20

Aw hope you get to see them this morning. 🤞🏻🤞🏻 Enjoy every second! Hope you are feeling ok physically as well yourself

woody87 · 17/06/2022 08:38

Congratulations @Donimo

Do you mind me asking specifically why you are not allowed to see them? It's extremely unusual for mothers to be separated from newborns, even when they are in NICU.

I hope you are feeling better and that the hospital is supporting you to express milk build supply 🤞

Donimo · 17/06/2022 09:27

@Betseyrov I had an emergency c section as I was rupturing. My partner has been into the hospital each day to visit the girls and then to see me. But once he sees me he has to go home and can't see the girls again. He is also trying to look after our 3 year old at home.... so a little bit of a logistical nightmare!

@woody87 I had norovirus (which I think the vomitting was the final straw in my previous c section scar tissue rupturing fully). I had to be 48 hours clear of that before I can see them... which will be at 10am! Literally counting the minutes now 😍

Betseyrov · 17/06/2022 18:28

Aww your poor thing @Donimo it sounds so painful. Norovirus is awful, rupturing on top of that must have been so tough. I hope you're doing ok now, and not in pain. I imagine you got to see your lovely girls today, enjoy every cuddle. I hope you manage to get some rest and please keep us updated

woody87 · 19/06/2022 20:40

@Donimo

Sorry you have had such a rough start. Hope you have now been able to see the twins and maybe even hold them 😍
