It is really hard @InkyPaper but your body is doing an amazing thing of growing life, don't forget that 🙌🏼 I'd say if it makes you feel better, don't scrimp on the maternity wear and buy what makes you feel comfortable

That's amazing @DKDK123 wahooo to your boobies (.)(.)! It's taken me about 10 days to get to a stage where I've got 2 full syringes so I've had to throw away little bits in between and it's frustrating but it does seem to be getting better as time goes on! It might have been a bit bloody this morning so may leave that one for a couple of days!

@paintfairy hopefully your DH might have a nice paternity pay out in his 🤞🏼I very much doubt you're unprepared. Me and @Minster2012 were saying and we think it's just more self doubt and you're probably over prepared!

As you can tell I'm not doing much on my last day at work, tied up most things yesterday so just hanging about waiting for my manager to come to my house and collect my work phone 🙈

kaylsd · 29/04/2022 12:34

I'll check in later but I'm just posting to rant about my midwife appointment

My usual normal one I've seen from start is off on annual leave so I had a young girl step in, wasn't really interested in conversation or checked my 20 week scan over or mentioned anything to do with my placenta issue.. also I feel gave me wrong information saying that baby should have a movement pattern at 24 weeks which I think is a load of codswollop because no two days are the same baby's movement is frequent but deffo no pattern yet! So yeah BP fine, HB of bubs 134, and urine fine but I just think bring back my usual one please for next time 🤣🥺

kaylsd · 29/04/2022 12:36

Oh and it took them 2 mins to find bubs heartbeat then I went to see the girls from my old team who have dopplers and we found it in 3 seconds 🤣 and one of the girls is due in July and gave me this book to read 🥰

Minster's 8th Side Car - Best not let the men see our post-partum bodies eh?!
larrythelizard · 29/04/2022 12:46

I'm a big fan of that book @kaylsd because I like to know why I'm being told not to do stuff! Doesn't sound like the best Mw appt, hopefully your normal one will be back next time.

It's just a shame someone isn't taking you out for lunch @bez91!

Can't help you with the house stuff @paintfairy but you really don't need that much baby stuff, and you'll work it all out.

Whoop that is some seriously good liquid gold @DKDK123!!

I've always been the same @InkyPaper and yo-yo'ed with my weight. Last summer I felt really good and then went off the rails with my new job and then got pregnant. I find it hardest that I can't do anything about it for a good while (I very much subscribe to no pressure after birth!) I have what I've seen on insta as a 'B' shaped bump which is because my tummy is still quite podgy on top of my bump which makes me feel quite self-conscious. But am trying to focus on other things!

OP posts:
Minster2012 · 29/04/2022 13:59

I d read bits of that book too @kaylsd @larrythelizard & think it makes sense

@kaylsd sorry on the rubbish midwife appointment let's hope it's your normal one next time 🤞🏻

@larrythelizard I see NO flab whatsoever! I'm also going no pressure after birth too. DH jokingly said yesterday "so 3 months after birth back into shape yeah?" And I said "I think that's realistic for you bearing in mind how many ice creams you are eating currently!" He was laughing all the time do I know he's joking @InkyPaper don't you worry about it

So my section has now been changed to morning of 17th which is fine, sooner!
MIL has said she'll have the dogs & my parents will look after X when we are in. MIL also raised the thought of have they asked about sterilisation during section? I said no & id thought about it and wasn't sure so gonna leave it. It's a difficult one. I don't WANT more kids but as this one was so hard to come by I don't know if I can draw that complete line for me. But we will look into vasectomy. Is that hypocritical?

I'm literally lying around today until my mum comes over for me to set her new phone up 🙄

Minster2012 · 29/04/2022 14:09

@DKDK123 that's so good on the colostrum well done!!!

Minster2012 · 29/04/2022 14:15

Btw there's something to see on the other thread 🥰and I got these handmade trousers for 50p!

Minster2012 · 29/04/2022 14:15

Of course it won't let me post them ffs

larrythelizard · 29/04/2022 15:07

Those leggings are nice thick maternity ones @Minster2012 and the over bump bit goes all the way to the bottom of my bra so are flattering on the tummy!

Our plan is also a vasectomy for DH but not immediately, I may get the copper coil for a few years whilst we deal with the general mayhem of having tiny children before doing it @Minster2012 - I'm pretty sure (right now I'd say 100% sure) I don't want more kids but you just never know!

OP posts:
Franklydear · 29/04/2022 16:18

Vasectomy here too, my bit on pregnancy prevention is done, when dh gets his arse in gear really, in the meantime we leave in the danger zone

DKDK123 · 29/04/2022 16:54

I had to sign my consent for sterilisation papers at my last meeting, it was an emotional moment as in my heart I'm not finished I always wanted 3 but in my head I know I can't have any more, the doc has already made it crystal clear my uterus will really struggle to hold a 3rd without rupturing and it's just too risky. Plus i know how lucky I am just to have reached this point with a second one, I couldnt go through ttc rollercoaster and losses again 😔. However just to let you know the fail rate of female sterilisation in 1 in 200 with high risk of ectopic if you do fall pregnant! I thought that was shocking stats for something thats supposed to be permanent 🤔 so DH is also getting a vasectomy once I'm back on my feet from the section (bet he acts like his recovery is a million times worse than pregnancy and a section combined 😂)

Minster2012 · 29/04/2022 18:09

@larrythelizard the copper coil is an interesting one. Is that also hormonal too? It's that which makes me think yeah it's a good idea doing the sterilisation non hormonal but then it's like it seems like you are saying oh well that's fine then this baby's out & it's ok, sorted. What if something happens??? We think the same as @DKDK123 it's too much to go through again & we are older (I'm 38 in July, DH 38 already, 39 in nov) and if it stopped my periods then yeah I'd be all over it but it just seems like too much emotion to decide to finalise it atm

larrythelizard · 29/04/2022 18:17

As far as I know it's hormone free @Minster2012 which is why it appeals. Deffo don't want hormonal contraception and we've all learned I can't be relied on to use condoms!

OP posts:
Minster2012 · 29/04/2022 18:31

That's what I was thinking @larrythelizard
I had it once back in around 2013? And only lasted 6 weeks with it in as i bled constantly & hated it but they think it wasn't inserted properly as it was also awful to get out. Best contraception ever I wouldn't let him near me 😂

feliznavidad2 · 29/04/2022 19:16

Catching up as I've been rubbish this week...

I had awful cramping and heavy bleeding with the copper coil before I was diagnosed with endo, it felt like my body was trying to physically remove it - gynae said it can happen. @larrythelizard @Minster2012 equally you might be some of the lucky ones. Have heard good things about Korean but equally know it's hormonal...

Also considering vasectomy for OH 👀 he's surprisingly open to it.

So exciting you've got a C-section date @Minster2012 🙌🏻 the finishing line (ahem) is in sight!

Great work on the colostrum @DKDK123 👏🏻 really positive, glad you feel good about it! I remember harvesting last time after DS was born but in SCBU and being like 'whaaaat!' as he downed a syringe that had taken me 20 mins to fill! 😂

Congratulations on the last day at work @bez91 🎉 what are your plans now that you're a, ahem, lady of leisure? For the next couple of weeks anyway?! 😆 Love the chopstick comment too, ours loves a chopstick... for jabbing through one side and out the other of takeaway sweet and sour chicken balls. 🙈

Can't believe time is going so quickly @InkyPaper - 14 weeks has zoomed by!

Very impressed you're still going to the gym @larrythelizard what a hero.

The cereal love is real @kaylsd nothing like a bowl of Cheerios with freezing cold milk right now. Glad you're off nights lovely, I'm a nurse too and wouldn't manage them these days - stopped them about 6 years ago and never looked back. 🤫

Can't believe Katie is actually @Soph0105 - Larry had thankfully told me who @BellatrixK was 😂

Sending solidarity @paintfairy my heartburn is awful right now, and constipated again. Fuggs sake.

All alright here, glad it's the weekend. Getting hefty now and I feel like baby keeps getting something stuck near my rib; it's uncomfy, but can't feel a limb as such. DS used to do similar... Eating an ice lolly whilst OH does bed. The dream.

InkyPaper · 29/04/2022 19:19

@paintfairy yeah we got a taxi to the appointment on Monday - there wasn't an empty space near the maternity unit that I could see. Reeeeeally hoping the parking situation improves there

@DKDK123 @bez91 @Minster2012 thanks lovelies ❤️ hoping I'll feel better about it all once I actually look pregnant. I think you're right @bez91 I need to buy some maternity clothes or something and just embrace it
@DKDK123 nice one on the colostrum!! 🎉

@larrythelizard yeah, I'm fairly confident I'll have a B-shaped bump from how squodgy I am 🙈 from your photos on Insta you look lovely ❤️

@kaylsd urgh sorry your midwife appointment sucked!

On the contraception chat, our hope is to have 2 kids, so we'll be back for another round of IVF when this one is a year old. Then DH is getting a vasectomy - I didn't really see the point considering the odds of it happening naturally are infinitesimally small, but he pointed out it'd be just our luck for it to happen out of the blue after we thought we were done 😂

paintfairy · 29/04/2022 19:25

@kaylsd your midwife experience sounds like all I've ever had to be honest. I was saying this today only.
@Minster2012 aarrrghhh for the new date. Sterilisation seems very final.

I had my growth scan. I have a consultant phone call follow up on 9th but the sonographer got a midwife to speak to me to just review, with it being a while away. Midwife was lovely and the only one I've ever seen like that (maybe the hospital ones are all like that?). I only ever get miserable people and the sonographer wasn't much better. Just grumped at me about my belly bar and I had to take it out for the scan. No good photos either as she was head down but they did give me 2 (which were free @Inkypaper - love the consistency).

Although they were happy she said it is a petite baby and I dunno if I should be worried? Looking back I've consistently been between the 20th and 25th centile for head/belly. Legs seem to move from anything around 25th up to 40 odd and back again. 🤣 No idea why. They are still on a higher centile than everything else (I'm not tall). But the predicted weight one now only puts me on the 10th centile? 🤔 I suppose if they aren't worried then that's that but I'm hoping she catches up a little on the next one? (4 weeks).

feliznavidad2 · 29/04/2022 19:39

Not Korean, Mirena^^

bez91 · 29/04/2022 19:45

@Minster2012 good news on the section being moved to the morning, less time hanging around that day. Must feel so strange knowing her birthday 🤯 and good to be able to plan too for dogs and X.
Definitely not hypocritical on the sterilisation thing. It's a tough one. I always said I wanted 3, DH always wanted 2. After going through what we have to get here we've had a complete role reversal and I'd be quite happy with 2 whereas DH thinks life is too short and wants 3. Also want to avoid the hormonal contraceptives so we will just be sensible for a year or so with condoms then perhaps NTNP, if nothing happens within a certain amount of time then he'll be off for the snip ✂️
@DKDK123 definitely need to hear how your DH reacts after his 😆
@larrythelizard I always thought about the coil too, although my best friend had it after having her boy and she told me her OH can occasionally feel it when they DTD and the thought makes me squirm a bit 🙈

@feliznavidad2 plan is to chill as much as possible, I have a bit of stuff to finish for a course but literally only half a days worth 😬 never even thought of using chopsticks for chicken balls, you've got me fancying a Chinese now! I've had that with ribs, it's quite painful! Enjoy being off bedtime duty!

@paintfairy I'm sure it's nothing to worry about,my DD was born on the 20th centile and was just small and perfectly proportioned, I think sometimes the growth scans give you more to worry about as it's just a snapshot in time rather than end product if you like!

My boss had to call in to my house tonight to get my work phone, my cover is having it so no need to change number etc and he bought me a bottle of champagne for when the time comes which was lovely as he's only been around a couple of months 😀

bez91 · 29/04/2022 19:47

@feliznavidad2 I did wonder about this Korean coil 😂

InkyPaper · 29/04/2022 21:42

@paintfairy you watch I'll be bloody paying for those photos each time 🤣 shame the sonographer was grumpy - mine was lovely when I went

@bez91 aww that's sweet of your boss 😊 did your last day at work go OK?

DKDK123 · 30/04/2022 01:30

I don't know much about the coil except that my mum, my aunt and my friends sister all had surprise babies years after they thought they were finished having kids and all 3 had the coil in 🙈 So it was enough for me not to trust it after DS was born despite the fact that's the route the doctor was pushing me to go in! I'm sure to balance that there are a million people who haven't had surprise babies while on the coil but 3 people close to home was too many for me. Although I can't speak for the other two but my mum didn't know till she was told after she got pregnant that its your responsibility to periodically check that the coil is still in place, she didn't realise it could move in some cases (neither did I 🤷‍♀️). I suppose @bez91 your friends partner feeling it while DTD should be reasurring that it's still in the right place in a way 😂🤔

paintfairy · 30/04/2022 09:06

@bez91 small is fine with me as long as everything is OK. I suppose there just isn't much room for drop off if that starts to happen.
@InkyPaper I really wasnt expecting to get any photos now they are back to charging. So it was a surprise. The maternity carpark rarely has spaces but the little one up from it did yesterday (just 1). The purple carpark had loads though and it's not that far to walk really. But in a morning usually that has none either but my scan was 3.40pm.
@feliznavidad2 I've been ok with the constipation but suddenly do have the opposite issue at times. I'm going to shit on the landing in a minute if DH doesn't hurry up and get out the bloody bathroom! 🤬 Why do men take an age in there? And never asks before if you are going to need it in the next 3 hours.
@DKDK123 mums friend had a baby on the coil too. 🤣

Watched the 2nd episode of Yorkshire midwifes last night. DH moaned at me because he hates seeing bad stuff and one lady it referenced her baby died in the womb at 28.5 weeks last time. Which is nearly now for me. Really does make you worry when you see things like that because it seems so real now? She did look about 55 mind?! 🤔 He does ahhh over the babies born though where as I sit pulling faces. 🤣 He gets angry at how good the midwifes are though compared to my experience so far. I'm sure it should be like that but no one here is interested!

Back to being awake in the middle of the night. And I'm irritable. My own hair, the duvet, everything annoys me and I just can't get comfortable! 🙈
Woke up to realise its the dogs birthday. Terrible parents we are going make. 😱🤣 Maybe I can pick him something up later. We are also going to investigate cars today.

kaylsd · 30/04/2022 09:12

@larrythelizard isn’t it crazy that we both have the same issue with the placenta but my recheck is at 32 week and yours is 36 🙈 I’m going to start the book today I like books that are relatable than just fact orientated - have you read the unmumsy mum?
@minster2012 there was next to nothing in our aldi :( so I may venture to the online website to see that way, I can imagine you want to freeze time at the moment with your little boy before his sister arrival to capture each moment 🥺 I’m sure it’ll all fall into place ❤️
@inkypaper wow your pregnancy is flying 😍 I know you must be feeling a range of emotions with your weight gain but just remember how amazing your body is right now growing a tiny human inside you 🥺❤️😘
@DKDK123 yay for the liquid gold girl!!!!!!
@paintfairy I absolutely adore Winnie the Pooh for little ones, our nursery theme is going to be Winnie so I may have to sneak to sainsburys to get these towels 😍❤️ sorry to hear you have constant shitty midwife experiences 🥺 hope they all up their game soon!
@feliznavidad2 glad you vibe there girl with the cereal you cannot genuinely beat it 🤣😍 I may try the cannot do night shifts when I return back to see if I could be lucky to sway them! It’s more the lack of pattern what annoys me with them as it sends everything all upside down!

my DH will also be going for a vasectomy in 2 years time, we’ve said we will “try” being the loose term for a second after a year with lil one (we don’t want the pressure of it all again) and if no luck then continue as a family of 3 as we was always told it wouldn’t happen due to his obstructing granuloma so his consultant said just ring his secretaries and he’ll be on a urgent list when he decides he’s ready because he wanted him to have one when we was in the infertility clinic but realised we didn’t have any children, he lives life in pain everyday with it so I don’t want to be waiting to long for something what may not happen🙈🥺

Happy Saturday everyone, consisting off house work ironing and dog walking nothing too exciting 😘🙈

bez91 · 30/04/2022 09:59

Wrote a reply and it's gone 😭

@InkyPaper last day was WFH, had nothing to do as I'd already tied everything up and couldn't start anything new so did some ironing come lunchtime 🙈 crap on the paying for photos, we've been lucky so far and not had to pay

@paintfairy small baby will just be kept a closer eye on. Mum always knows best though, one health visitor asked me if I was actually feeding DD. Great way to help a new mum with PND, looking back I should have slapped her. I'm also on the 2nd episode of Yorkshire midwives I watched it yesterday, that woman was 43 I think, both me and DH said she looked about 60 🤯 and that conversation about the lotus birth 😳 I knew about delayed cord clamping but didn't realise that some women liked to carry round the placenta for days after birth ! Happy car shopping, do you know what you're looking for?

@kaylsd good to have a plan going forward and your DHs wellbeing is obviously paramount. Your weekend sounds much like mine but got to be done!
