Congratulations to all the new Mums - I don't read it for a few days and there are so many more! All gorgeous

@Kittycaz yes I had/have total elephant feet! Mine are improving slightly after nearly 2 weeks which I think is from plenty of fluid and I mean like 8-10 large glasses of water a day. I try to elevate them when I'm sitting too but have to say I don't elevate them above my heart level often because it's just awkward x

JMill13 · 10/05/2022 21:49

@rainbowplease I know. I'm
On my 3 set of tea & toast of the day at least. Can't wait to get home (whenever that may be. Hopefully tomorrow) so I can maul all the food that I actually want

Kittycaz · 11/05/2022 00:38

Wow such beautiful babies congratulations it's been a baby boom day 💕

On hospital food mine was really bad they gave me cold toast and frozen butter but I was so hungry I made like a butter sandwhich. When I left hospital I asked my mum to take me through McDonald's drive thru 😅

Leo is being weighed later today and having his tongue tie assessed. I'm really hoping they say it's looking more promising or I may need to think about combination feeding x

Our baby is now 8 days overdue.

But based on the last period, today is technically 40weeks. We had 8 days added to gestation at 12week scan.

Potentially getting a membrane sweep in the PM. Let's see

Bubbasmama2017 · 11/05/2022 05:20

@BabyOnBoard90 let us know how it goes! I've got the midwife tomorrow and have done a total 180 on having a sweep, I had decided early on I didn't want one but now I'm going to ask her to do it as I'm too intrigued not to find out how my cervix is!

WildButterfly · 11/05/2022 06:56

I know I sound like a little pig, but I’d be so disappointed with those hospital meals!

One of my post pregnancy goals is having a full meal and actually enjoying it. After first trimester MS and bad heartburn ever since, I’m just tired of the constant grazing, little and often, eating.

@BabyOnBoard90 fingers crossed the sweep works for you! That was one of my reservations when the consultant suggested a sweep earlier this week, since I’m still 38weeks. I was tracking fertility and know exactly when we DTD, but NHS dates are around 5 days ahead.

Sarah239 · 11/05/2022 09:38

Congratulations everyone! Thinking of everyone who's got new babies or waiting on babies!

I'm in the latter category, now 39+2. No signs, I don't think she is imminent!

I keep trying to collect colostrum antenatally, but I'm not getting any. Well, once a few days ago, I got one TINY drop on each side, but that was it and nothing since. I'm trying not to stress as I have read that some people just can't get any before birth and it doesn't have any bearing on supply after birth 🤞 Would really have liked to have a stockpile but maybe it's not meant to be!

JMill13 · 11/05/2022 12:18

@WildButterfly oh believe me I'm right there with you. I'm completely gutted by the crap food.

Today's lunch...

I've told the OH hes getting me a large McDonald's on the way home whenever that may be.

@Sarah239 I never collected colostrum with my DD (20 years ago), she was born after EMCS at 34 weeks and had to stay in NICU on antibiotics for 11 days. I had so much milk, I kept expressing and donated some of it to the hospital’s milk bank. I’m hoping for the same thing with this one. My nipples are so sore and sensitive, I can’t bare the thought of squeezing them willingly for the life of me.

@JMill13 That’s appalling! I hope you can get released soon and get your MacDonald’s treat!

YfenniChristie · 11/05/2022 16:35

Hey ladies, congratulations to everyone on their new arrivals!

It's been a tough couple of days here. Was finally discharged from the hospital late on Monday. DS had lost nearly 10% of his birth weight so we were put on a feeding plan of every 3hrs (30min feed with each breast, plus expressing milk after each feed and giving it to him.)

We've just had a midwife here today to tell us he's dropped more weight - he's now at nearly 12%, so now we have to feed every 2hrs and give him as much formula as he wants once a day. I'm trying (and failing) to not take it all personally and a reflection of my abilities as a mother.

On the subject of hospital dinners, mine were carb heavy. The one that really sticks in my head was Mac and cheese for dinner, which came with four roast potatoes, a scoop of mash and three baby carrots. Dessert was always a yoghurt, ice cream or some sort of cake.

BabyOnBoard90 · 11/05/2022 16:44

We saw midwives today and decided not to go for the membrane sweep.

Didn't feel comfortable to proceed, midwife professional not very assuring. In fact was a bit of scaremongering by asserting leaving too late would increase risk of fetal death.

When I asked how much is the risk increased by, she said she didn't know. Lol

The induction is scheduled for Sunday. May opt for a sweep instead and go from there.

Bubbasmama2017 · 11/05/2022 17:23

@BabyOnBoard90 wow it does sound like they were trying to scare you into it!
My midwife has luckily never been pushy it's me that's changed my mind on it. Will see how I feel tomorrow when I see her, I know it doesn't do anything 50% of the time!

Yes it wasn't a great appointment, and I've left feeling very unsure.

I'll try and speak to be designated midwife tomorrow if she's in.

Sarah239 · 11/05/2022 19:35

@BabyOnBoard90 I think that's despicable tbh...!

Sarah239 · 11/05/2022 19:40

@BabyOnBoard90 sorry I can't remember, how many weeks/days are you and why are you being induced?

Sarah239 · 11/05/2022 19:41

Ignore me, I've just read your earlier post, sorry for the multiple messages! 🤦🏻‍♀️

BabyOnBoard90 · 11/05/2022 19:49

I'm 41+1weeks. They want to induce to avoid me going into 42weeks I suppose.

Technically I'm 40weeks today from my last period but 8days was added at 12week scan.

rainbowplease · 11/05/2022 20:26

@BabyOnBoard90 that sounds like a really tough appointment! If you're certain on your dates it's certainly worth exploring waiting a little longer for induction- you can always opt for daily monitoring for reassurance. That said I had a very positive induction with DC1.

I'v finally started buying things for my hospital bag because it was the task set by my therapist. Will be making a start on the baby washing tomorrow too.

BabyOnBoard90 · 11/05/2022 21:47

Thank you 🙏🏿@rainbowplease

Bubbasmama2017 · 12/05/2022 08:41

Anyone else fed up of the messages from friends/family now? Lol Asking if baby is here yet. It's adding to the pressure and getting on my last nerve!

MissM94 · 12/05/2022 08:47

@Bubbasmama2017

MissM94 · 12/05/2022 08:49

@Bubbasmama2017 ignore that empty message 🙈 but omg yes! Due date in 2 days, get daily messages and I literally just snap at them now and say you'll know about it if I was, stop pissing harassing me! It's too much, very irritable and moody atm so I don't have the patience for shit like that 😂😂

Bubbasmama2017 · 12/05/2022 08:51

@MissM94 I know people are excited and mean well but it's really not what we need right now!

MissM94 · 12/05/2022 10:19

@Bubbasmama2017 it's really not is it! I've had 2 today already and it's not even fucking dinner time 🥲🥲

Kittycaz · 13/05/2022 07:28

@YfenniChristie im dreading Leo's weigh in later. It does make u feel like a failure. I sat here in tears couple of days ago as he just wasn't latching and my milk was going all over his face and I just kept saying sorry to him. 3 midwives came over none of em could sort him he's really fussy and has a tongue tie. They had to ring a breasfeeding specialist who helped quite a bit and told me I've been doing everything right just some babies are like this. Last night he cluster fed so bad 6pm til just now every 20 mins he'd scream for breast so u would assume he's getting enough milk but still those feeding cues continued. My left nipple is bleeding really bad from it. I've been really considering combination feeding now just to calm him so I can get a little sleep as well.

I'm moving home today so I'm hoping as my new house is more sound proofed and no nightmare neighbours (touch wood) he may settle more x
