@Crumpetloveliness thank you so much for sharing your story about your husband missing the birth when he popped to the loo! My husband said he feels really bad for thinking he had enough time to drop our son off at school. He's really been beating himself up about it, although I keep telling him how no-one knew she would arrive so quickly and he could have ended up stuck in traffic on the way there at that time anyway. I'm hoping he will learn to make a joke out of it eventually. Xx

H0peing · 06/05/2022 09:04

@YfenniChristie Wishing you all the best for your induction xxxxx

H0peing · 06/05/2022 09:07

@GinnyBee Not long now! I'm excited for you! Xx

Crumpetloveliness · 06/05/2022 09:12

@H0peing ah bless him my husband was the same for a while. Gentle rubbing helped after a while 😅 But you’re completely right there could have been any number of reasons. Little one was impatient! Will be a great story for her in years to come :)

Crumpetloveliness · 06/05/2022 09:56

*ribbing!!!!! 🙈

WildButterfly · 06/05/2022 10:30

@BabyOnBoard90 the same thing happened to me in my dating scan, added 5 days to what my fertility app and previous private scan had suggested. It’s hard to know what to trust, especially when the NHS dating scan lasted all but 5 mins! I hope things get moving for you.

MissM94 · 06/05/2022 11:15

Congratulations new mamas! I'm beyond jealous 😂😂 due a week tomorrow and I really need him in my arms now 😩

Bubbasmama2017 · 06/05/2022 11:27

Has anyone tried nipple stimulation with a breast pump?
I'm not doing well with getting colustrum off but tried stimulation earlier with my pump for 10 mins each side and felt some twinges so going to try twice a day and see if it brings anything on over the weekend

TunaJacket · 06/05/2022 12:31

Congrats to all those that have their babies! Quite a few now and not that far into May!

Growth scan yesterday showed baby was small so have been booked for an induction next week.
Disappointed because it’s not what we wanted but also very excited to meet our baby now!

Been so hectic back at home with my newborn that I haven't had time to come back to this thread! I can't believe I have a 9 day old baby already. Thanks for all the good wishes and I hope your babies all arrive soon.

Congratulations @EastMidsGem @MarmaladeToastAndAMarmaladeCat @fejkalove @Kittycaz @H0peing ! So lovely to see all the new baby photos.

What a shame your DH missed the birth @H0peing! We were worried that would happen with DH, as he had to do the nursery run, but the anaesthetist took a while so that gave DH the chance to get here.

Welcome @icf90 @WildButterfly @rainbowplease @Crumpetloveliness !

I find it interesting that others have commented about cannulas, it's not something I've given a second thought to! Just accepted that I needed it as part of the op.

@EastMidsGem My baby keeps falling asleep when feeding as well. I've had three home visits from midwives as her weight dropped below 10% and we've had to give her formula top-ups too. I feel a lot of pressure from them for her to put on weight, which has added a lot of stress to the early days. She does have tongue-tie and we have an appointment next week to get it looked at - one of the midwives said that feeding was tiring her out as it's more effort with tongue-tie.

EastMidsGem · 06/05/2022 22:35

@morphe ours has just dropped below 10% too, another weigh in tomorrow. I hate having to force the feeds down him but I have to say the last midwife that came out was lovely and what she said seems to be coming true. We have had to feed him 70ml every 3 hours and she said although it will seem really hard to begin with, he will start to become more alert and show signs of being hungry before his feed times soon. Surprise surprise, today it seems to have finally happened. This afternoon he was much more alert, wide eyed and looking around everywhere and really examining us. Then finally this evening, he has become hungry before his feed times and we're topping him up with extra so I've got my fingers crossed he will have gained tomorrow.

Thought you might like a drunk on milk pic to lighten up your evenings! Xx

Phew- my waiting’s done! I was getting so grumpy…
Baby girl born at half 10 last night about an hour after I got to delivery suite so not too bad.

She’s a snuggly chatterbox and wonderful and hang on in there everyone waiting!!!

YfenniChristie · 07/05/2022 02:12

Hi guys, an update brought to you by a very tired me. Our son was delivered by emergency c-section at 3am. Was very stressful, DH almost missed it and I'm still processing everything.

We're being kept in for observation and I really hope I'll be able to go home soon. Our son is absolutely perfect and I'm head over heels.

EastMidsGem · 07/05/2022 02:54

Congratulations @YfenniChristie and @Mummyingetc xx

I hope you all get to go home as soon as you're well enough with your little ones

Honeymint · 07/05/2022 06:06

@Mummyingetc @YfenniChristie
Wow congratulations!! They really are coming thick and fast now, it’s so exciting!
I hope you’re all doing well, with any luck you’ll both be home with your little ones soon.

Bubbasmama2017 · 07/05/2022 06:53

@Mummyingetc & @YfenniChristie congratulations!!

Crumpetloveliness · 07/05/2022 07:29

@Mummyingetc congratulations! Minimal time in labour suite is never a bad thing!

@YfenniChristie Firstly congratulations, I’m sorry to hear you had a stressful time of it though. If you’re feeling up for it you can request a debrief of your birth which can be helpful to help process everything. Please rest up as much as you can and make sure you ask for help.

@EastMidsGem so glad to hear you’ve had some great support, there is nothing quite like the pressure of feeding.

JMill13 · 07/05/2022 12:31

Congrats @Mummyingetc

Congrats @YfenniChristie sorry it all ended up so stressful. Hope you and the little get home soon and you can mental debrief from it all 💜

H0peing · 07/05/2022 17:03

@Mummyingetc @YfenniChristie Congratulations!!!🙂xxxx

rainbowplease · 07/05/2022 18:19

Congratulations to all those with new babies since I last checked here. I can't believe how many babies have been born considering it's only the 7th May!

@EastMidsGem @morphe my third baby lost more than the 'allowed' 10% weight, I topped her up a few days but then managed to bf for 18 months. I'd say don't put any pressure on yourself though!

Had my final doppler scan last week and my iron infusion, I'm finally starting to feel like the end is in sight.

EastMidsGem · 07/05/2022 18:33

@rainbowplease thank you, it's comforting to know. I really want to be able to go back to breastfeeding but I'm expressing every 3 or so hours at the moment so it's awkward to figure out when to do it. Trying to get my supply to boost a bit. I'm getting about 50-80ml for every expressing session x

EastMidsGem · 07/05/2022 18:59

Although great news today as when midwife came for weigh in, he gained a whopping 80 grams in 2 days! I was so relieved it's all working x

YfenniChristie · 08/05/2022 06:10

Thank you everyone. Yesterday was a bad day - baby blues kicked in so I sobbed at everyone and everything. We're being kept for a little longer as DS is on the 2nd centile - a big drop from what the growth scans indicated, so we need to collect a urine sample from him and I'm having panics about breastfeeding and his weight gain.

DS is gorgeous and particularly enjoys sleeping with his legs straight up in the air. I really looking forward to and wanting my own bed.

GinnyBee · 08/05/2022 15:21

Congrats to all babies born since I was last on here! I had to take my laptop in for repairs and I don’t really like this site on my phone so haven’t been actively checking.

I had my pre op yesterday, I’m on the morning list for Tuesday so should be done nice and early! First one expected to start around 9 and last one finished by 1. So a good chance I’ll be able to go home the next day as well as I still get most of the day and overnight to recover.

Been sorting out some last bits. Brought the pram in from storage, put the car seat base in the car, ordered Ocado for Thursday with lots of easy meals and snacks, trying to get all washing done by tomorrow so I can start filling the laundry baskets again with poopy baby clothes and breastmilky mum clothes 😂 I also made some lactation energy bites, and I honestly don’t care if they even work, they’re so yummy!

Jowd92 · 09/05/2022 06:05

Congratulations to all on the arrivals of your little ones I had my final scan on Friday and have induction booked in for Wednesday also having a sweep tomorrow all seems very real now can’t wait to hold my little girl in my arms altho the nerves have definitely kicked in and I’m so stressed and nervous about what’s to come specially after I had such a bad time last time fingers crossed all goes well this time
