I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.
There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.
MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk
If you need help in obtaining medication, phone them on:
024 7638 2020
Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/topics/nausea-vomiting-in-pregnancy
I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.
It has been suggested that I add some practical tooth cleaning advice: a lot of sufferers find using a child's small toothbrush and strawberry toothpaste far less nauseating.
On my image of a pink castle: that is an image I use because when I was little, my family had a Snakes and Ladders board with an image on the last square of a pink castle in the clouds. As Hyperemesis is so like a grotesque version of Snakes and Ladders - eat a meal, go up a ladder, first thing in the morning bile run, down a snake - I have used the image of that pink castle on the last square of that Snakes and Ladders board as a metaphor for the happy end of Hyperemesis.
Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

@ChloeHel it’s absolutely hell how stressful it is, I have 9 days left and I return to work in 7 days after 3 months too sick to go.
I’ve tried all pharmacies and was getting some online but even they don’t have any left now so just feel stuck. I’ve ordered some sleepaid which is Doxylamine and going to take vitamin b6 see if I can substitute them.
I ran out 10 days ago and went three days without and was so so sick again so it’s stressing me out!

I am in the exact same boat! I am due to go back in work in 3 weeks time after being off for 3 months too! Im worried that I’ll end up being really ill again and have to be off yet again!

Thats a really good idea with the sleep aid, I may try that if it comes to it!!! How long has your area been short for? I only found out about it today :(

like I said I’ll try and update you tomorrow about manufacturing supply dates as I’ll be able to find out roughly when they are due back!

ChloeHel · 28/04/2022 20:20

@Sicksmellymess which sleep aid have you managed to get? Is it the American one? I just checked and the British one is diphenhydramine! So no good 😭

LucindaE · 28/04/2022 20:27

Goodness, it's got busy suddenly.
Welcome to Meadspud and Curbsideprophet. Sorry you are both suffering. You've already had great advice, and as you've read through the thread and seen my normal spiel, I haven't much to add, except don't rush back to work before you are ready. You will only have to go off again if you overdo it.
rainbowzebra Ouch! About childbirth and those stools. Glad there's a way
to relieve that with Senna, my goodness.
ajb22 never worry about timi. Great advice from you, from ChloeHel Melleebacca and from everyone.
Much sympathy to SickSmellyMess ChloeHel and all those anxious about Xolnvea shortage.
Melleebacca Packing your hospital bag! That's such an exciting landmark. Glad OH is due back soon.
Weathergirl That's sweet about the two year old. That's a real nuisance about anti-acids, and as you say,Ranitidine was withdrawn a little while ago.
PopGoesBang I couldn't help laughing about baby's having a rave, though no joke for you.
Cheering you all on. 'This Too Must Pass'. Apologies to anyone rudely overlooked.

Sorry - that's not Meadspud - that's Meandspud! I had a vision of somone consuming mead and potatoes, but nobody wants to hear about that on a Hyperemesis thread.

@ChloeHel at least 3 weeks now, I’ve heard people are being told no stock until end of May!
yes it was from America website called biovea uk

Well that’s a bloody worry! I’ll have to reduce my dose to try and make them last. Do let me know how you get on with the sleep aid if you have to use them before Xonvea comes back into stock!

rainbowzebra05 · 28/04/2022 22:29

@Melleebacca I said to dh it was like I'd missed that transitional hormone thing where you start to moo and stop giving a toss, but skipped straight to the praying for death instead. It was bad enough that we now have a stockpile of rubber gloves in the bathroom permanently. I'd def take labour over ondansetron constipation! Will keep in mind about timing the lactulose, I hadn't considered a middle of the night dash!

If anyone else is reading this and struggling, anusol soothing suppositories are absolutely magic to ease the piles it leaves behind and help the swelling ease off. Today's find and it so grateful the pharmacist was willing to work around the rules to help instead of saying the standard line of "you're pregnant so I can't help"!

Melleebacca · 29/04/2022 05:24

@rainbowzebra05 oh that’s great to know. I will see if I can source them here. Although hopefully with just a few weeks left, I can stay on top of the constipation/piles. They tend to get bad if I have to stand for too long, mostly because my bump is small (in comparison to other people), and all the weight of the baby sits directly in pelvis. And he is not a small baby!

ChloeHel · 29/04/2022 11:24

@Sicksmellymess The supplier has a date of 21st May! But as I know that isn’t always definite with pharmaceutical supplies. So now I’m having a massive panic!

Ive just found out that you can buy Cariban from Spain, which is the same drug, my grandparents are going there next week, I’m going to have to ask if they can try and get me some! They are going to look at my 80 year old Nan and think…morning sickness tablets for you? haha!

Sicksmellymess · 29/04/2022 12:55

@ChloeHel 21st may 😭 yes I heard cariban is the same I checked to see if you can order it online but unfortunately not, fingers crossed you get it from Spain!

Sicksmellymess · 29/04/2022 13:07

@ChloeHel someone has just been told by a pharmacy that it’s due to the company dealing over to a Jewish company and usually when they have problems like this with a new company it means they’ll eventually stop supplying the medication 😭

Sicksmellymess · 29/04/2022 13:10

Someone else has just shared this response from the company they got in an email @ChloeHel why tell you different? It’s so confusing I don’t think they even know

ChloeHel · 29/04/2022 13:55

@Sicksmellymess so Alliance Healthcare are saying 21/5 and other suppliers are saying 6 weeks.

Usually Alliance is quite reliable with dates as they are one of the biggest suppliers to UK pharmacies.

Any idea when that email was sent? If it was early April the situation has probably changed since then which is why it’s not end of May. Ugh so bloody stressful.

Do you know anyone in Ireland? They can get Cariban there! I don’t have relations that go that far :(

Sicksmellymess · 29/04/2022 14:06

@ChloeHel the lady said that’s from the new company taking over, but not too sure!! She said she got that email yesterday!

Nobody in Ireland 😔

Oh what lady? Are you on another group that has regular updates? I’ve just emailed Alliance Pharma myself to try and see what they say!

Sicksmellymess · 29/04/2022 14:43

@ChloeHel I’m on the hyperemesis support group uk! There’s a good few of us on there struggling without Xonvea!
I can see on the bottom of that email it was Exeltis healthcare she emailed! Not sure if that’s the new company or not!

ChloeHel · 29/04/2022 16:24

@Sicksmellymess oh I can’t seem to find the actual group. Could you send me a link please? Would like to see updates :)

ChloeHel · 29/04/2022 16:38

@Sicksmellymess it seems you are correct. Alliance Pharma have given all final stock to Alliance Healthcare who have now sold out. The new manufacturer Exeltis has a short term stock out, so basically haven’t prepared themselves and haven’t manufactured Xonvea in time for their take over. Shows how much they care about womens health.

Well I am in a right pickle over this.

Sicksmellymess · 29/04/2022 17:26

@ChloeHel I’ve emailed them, have you? Be interesting to see if we get redirected to who’s taken over like she did and what their response is. If they reply the same then surely they’ll take note that more women are asking so they need it!

Sicksmellymess · 29/04/2022 17:29

Also @ChloeHel i forgot to say the group is on Facebook x

Yes I emailed Exeltis! I have their email it’s [email protected]

Ohh on Facebook! Thank you, I’ve just joined :)

Sicksmellymess · 29/04/2022 18:31

@ChloeHel ive just sent an email to them too, I hope they realise people actually need this and rely on it to function!

LucindaE · 29/04/2022 18:54

SickSmellymess ChloeHel and others: that's awful about the companies
being so careless with the the supply of Xonvea. I wonder if Pregnancy Sickness Support on 0204 7638 2020 might have some advice about how to get Xonvea outside the UK too, as I remember they helped a sufferer posting on here who was from the Netherands, and certainly at that time, they don't favour prescribing any anti emetics there, and they advised her of a way.
Rainbowzebra05 That's interesting about anusol. And fancy finding a helpful pharmacist, that's so good.
Waves to Melleebacca and everyone.

Hey everyone,
just wanted to quickly jump on as I used to read this board all the time back in 2020 when I was suffering from HG with my first baby.
i’m currently 10 weeks pregnant with my second and as I was so fearful about getting ill again, I did loads of research into hopefully preventing it being a severe. For the last few months I’ve been spraying magnesium spray on my body as there is evidence to suggest HG can be because of a deficiency and just wanted to let you know that I think it has given me some relief. The days where I haven’t sprayed myself I’ve been absolutely horrific, can’t leave the bedroom, slightest smell has me vomiting and throwing up 10+ times a day (and night) and can’t eat a thing no matter how much I’m desperate. I don’t think it’s a coincidence so I thought I’d share in case anyone else might find it helps x

ChloeHel · 29/04/2022 19:09

@LucindaE thank you for that advice! I will actually give them a call! It seems the only other alternative place is Spain or Ireland!
