Hi all, I thought I might start a new thread in the pregnancy pages to see how you guys are getting on? @littlemiss41andfabulous you must be due fairly soon? Hope everyone is well…

I’m now 13 weeks - had my NIPT results back last week and all was low probability, which was a relief for me. Also found out I am having a little girl! Which will be new for me as I have boys so far… allowing myself to relax a little bit now with some major hurdles out of the way.

Hello to anyone other 40+ ladies out there and anyone I missed from our TTC thread… drop a note to say hi and let’s share how our journeys are going 😊

What a lovely idea, I'm shattered so need to go to bed before I drop but I'll pop back x

Littlemiss41andfabulous · 29/11/2021 23:23

Aw good idea @Honey2!

Yes I'm on the homeward stretch now as am 32 weeks on Thursday and huge! Can definitely feel baby's limbs now and she's very active.

Great news about your NIPT results- glad you can relax somewhat now.

Will be lovely to hear updates from everyone xx

burtle4 · 30/11/2021 08:04

Hello! I turned 40 this year and am currently 37 weeks pregnant with our third (and final!) child. Other two are 9 and 7 and incredibly excited about the arrival of their new brother - hopefully before Christmas!! Am a bit worried about going back to the no sleep days, especially being almost 10 years older than when I started in motherhood but just have to keep reminding myself that the early days pass so quickly. It took us 2.5 years to finally fall pregnant with this one so it feels like a long road to get here but so excited that we're almost there!

Honey2 · 30/11/2021 08:19

@burtle4 congratulations! What a lovely Xmas present for you all…. TTC over 40 is a whole new ball game isn’t it?! But I’m glad you now have your 3rd gorgeous baby - it takes patience but we are very lucky to have got there. 😀

Has the consultant recommended to go into labour naturally or have they spoken of induction at all?

OP posts:
burtle4 · 30/11/2021 09:53

@Honey2 yes, completely different! It only took us around 5 months to conceive our DS and then didn't even have to try for our DD so I just couldn't understand why it wasn't happening third time around! In the end I started taking progesterone pessaries and was pregnant within 2 months. Took a lot of research to get there though! Congratulations on your pregnancy and getting through the first trimester with low NIPT results, that's a big hurdle over! Do you have any other children?
My consultant has recommended induction because I'm now 40, normally I would probably prefer to just be closely monitored and go into labour naturally, but I've been having growth scans and baby is measuring off the scale big! He was estimated at 8lbs last week at 36 weeks so feel like I need to get him out sooner rather than later. It will also mean his birthday will be further away from Christmas. Actually have a consultant appointment in about an hour where i'm hoping I'll be given a date 🤞

Geriatrixia · 30/11/2021 13:49

Hi folks! I’m 41 and just 5w+1 with my second child - DD is 9 so we’ll be looking at a big age gap 🙈 I know my age brings bigger risks etc so it’s lovely to read about lots of over 40+ pregnancies going well.

So far it’s just me and my partner who know - I have a feeling there’s going to be some shocked faces when we start telling folk!

Pamparam · 30/11/2021 14:30

👋 hello, 40 and early 2nd trimester with #2 here! I am feeling really good and happy, but must admit to being slightly worried about my recent Downs results which were 1:540, I know this is low risk but it feels high! Curious what others had on the NHS tests if you had it? I would really love an NIPT but can’t afford it.

TheLovleyChebbyMcGee · 30/11/2021 14:36

Hello! I've missed out on this thread, but can I join in? I'm 40, and currently 35+3 weeks pregnant. Already got a 3 year old DS, and looking forward to baby brother or sister for him! EDD is Jan 1st, but they want to induce me early as baby is measuring very big, or maybe it'll be an ELCS and its currently breech.

Not sure if that'll be before or after Christmas day, I'd be 39 weeks exactly then, so who knows!

burtle4 · 30/11/2021 15:51

@Geriatrixia congratulations! We got a few shocked faces when we told people, especially with it being our third, but most people have been really lovely and happy for us. I think people just assume you're done when you have a big age gap so we got a lot of people thinking it wasn't planned!
@Pamparam mine was something like 1:18000 but I think as long as you're above 150 they're happy so I wouldn't worry.
@TheLovleyChebbyMcGee I'm also being induced because of a big baby and they've just given me the date of 11th December so will be exactly 39 weeks - although I'm guessing in your case they'll do it before or after so it's not on Christmas day!

Lastyearttc · 30/11/2021 22:58

Hi all! Thanks @Honey2 for setting this thread up! I had my 20 week scan today and very relieved to know baby is perfect. Didn't find out the sex as happy either way and like the surprise. Am 43 with a 6yo girl and hardly told anyone as was waiting for today to know all is well.

Honey2 · 30/11/2021 23:16

@lastyearttc ah what fabulous news. The 20 week scan is a real milestone… you must be feeling some good movement now too?

@geriatrixia congratulations! I am/was also expecting some shocked faces when we start to tell people.. I have 3 kids already (youngest 5) and I am sure some people will think we are mad, but to be honest I’ve now come round to the idea that it really doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks - we are over the moon and that’s what counts. It also help that my parents were also really pleased for us which put my mind at rest.

@burtle4 @thelovelycheebymcgee how exciting you’ll be meeting your babies so soon!

@pamparam I think my downs was 1:1400 ish but as burtle4 said 1:540 is still very low odds. I think age does have a big sway in how they calculate the number.

OP posts:
burtle4 · 01/12/2021 07:49

@Honey2 that's exactly how I feel. It got me a bit sad when anyone reacted with shock rather than congratulations, but in the end we just said that as long as we're happy it really doesn't matter what others think or hearing them tell you you must be crazy! It also was hugely important to me that my parents were over the moon for us. Made me feel so much better that we were doing the right thing.
@Lastyearttc, congratulations on the 20 week scan, you must be so relieved!

CherylPorter350 · 01/12/2021 08:35

I'm 41 and planning on TTC with a 12 year age gap...so happy to see so many 40+ success stories

Honey2 · 01/12/2021 19:53

@CherylPorter350 welcome, I’m glad you are inspired by our success… I can tell you it’s not an easy ride but worth it in the end!

OP posts:
Lastyearttc · 01/12/2021 23:27

Yes @Honey2 a few flutters and kicks which is very reassuring. Looks like this is really happening now! 😃

Littlemiss41andfabulous · 02/12/2021 06:19

Welcome @CherylPorter350 and wishing you all the best on your TTC journey. XxX

Honey2 · 29/12/2021 18:41

How is everyone doing? I’m now 17+3 and starting to feel the odd flutter… I have my 20 week scan in 2 weeks time and after that I am hoping to breath a bit more easily - this is tricky time for me after a loss at 20 weeks :(

Hope everyone else is doing well, @Littlemiss41andfabulous you must be due soon now!

OP posts:
Honey2 · 29/12/2021 18:44

@burtle4 I assume you’ve had your little boy? Hope all went well. Xx

OP posts:
burtle4 · 29/12/2021 19:22

@Honey2 yes! We had him on the 11th December at exactly 39 weeks, weighing 8lbs 13oz so very glad they induced me early!! We're all absolutely besotted with him and the kids are loving their new roles as big brother and sister - it's definitely made for a very magical Christmas ❤
So sorry to hear you had a loss at 20 weeks, it's so hard after loss to relax in pregnancy, especially at that late stage but I'm sure everything will be fine this time and then you can hopefully enjoy the last half of your pregnancy with the reassurance of regular movements x

burtle4 · 29/12/2021 19:23

Oh forgot to say, he's called Dexter William x

Honey2 · 29/12/2021 20:57

@burtle4 oh my goodness he is so gorgeous! Congratulations. What a wonderful
Xmas pressie! Can I ask - did they offer induction because of measuring large or because you were over 40? Just wondering if I’ll get offered induction at 39 weeks, 2 out of 3 of my current babies were induced and it’s always been an ok process for me and I like the predictability of it!

OP posts:
Littlemiss41andfabulous · 29/12/2021 20:59

Congratulations @burtle4 - he's gorgeous!

Thanks for asking @Honey2 - yes she's almost here- due 27th Jan but she's still measuring big so I expect they'll plan for induction after my 38 week growth scan on 17th Jan. Last week, at 34 weeks she was approx 7lb! The movements are quite vigorous now and I can feel her bum and foot quite easily.

Time is going so fast! Wow- almost 20 weeks @Honey2 - I'm sorry it comes with the memories and sadness of your previous loss. It will be lovely for you when you get past that milestone and can relax a little bit more xxx

burtle4 · 29/12/2021 22:02

@Honey2 yes they offered it to me originally because I was 40 and secondly because he started measuring big. I was actually quite pleased to be offered it because as you say, you can plan a bit more easily when you know when they're coming. For me pulling his birthday further away from Christmas was a big plus - especially since my due date when I initially found out I was pregnant was Christmas day so think I did quite well to have him on 11th in the end!! Induction was a completely different experience to having him come naturally but it was quick and did the job!

Littlemiss41andfabulous · 30/12/2021 09:05

@Honey2 I am due for induction at 39 weeks anyway because I'm over 40 but this may start a few days earlier now based on baby's weight too x

headspin10 · 30/12/2021 09:22

Hope you don't mind me joining this thread. I'm 41 and 18 weeks with our 4th baby. Baby due around my 42nd birthday.

Had low risk for the 12 week tests and all looking good luckily, but still worried about the 20 week scan. -must try to relax and enjoy it more! Very hard for you Honey after such a late loss. Incredibly tough. So sorry to hear that. ♥️

Hope everyone is doing ok, whatever stage you are at.
