Hi all, I thought I might start a new thread in the pregnancy pages to see how you guys are getting on? @littlemiss41andfabulous you must be due fairly soon? Hope everyone is well…

I’m now 13 weeks - had my NIPT results back last week and all was low probability, which was a relief for me. Also found out I am having a little girl! Which will be new for me as I have boys so far… allowing myself to relax a little bit now with some major hurdles out of the way.

Hello to anyone other 40+ ladies out there and anyone I missed from our TTC thread… drop a note to say hi and let’s share how our journeys are going 😊

@TheLovleyChebbyMcGee how are you getting on? Have you gad yours yet?

Clueless22 · 31/12/2021 09:57

Hi all, I hope you don't mind me joining.
I'm 17 weeks with first baby, will be 41 when baby comes in June.
It's really reassuring to read so many positive journeys of mummy's and mummy's to be over 40 x

Cakecakecheese · 31/12/2021 11:01

I'm 41, IVF, first baby, due in August.

Honey2 · 31/12/2021 23:01

@headspin10 wow we sound like we are almost identical pregnancy twins! I am 41, 17+6 with my fourth baby who is due 4 weeks after my 42nd bday! Spooky! Do you know if you are having a boy or girl? I have 3 boys and I’m preg with a little girl - not sure what I’m going to do with a girl lol 😂

@honey2 wow!!! That's so similar! Also, I actually realised I'm 18 weeks, think I said 17.
That's really exciting! We have 3 girls but don't know yet about this one. (Though the pregnancy has felt different so I don't know..) planning to wait till the 20 week scan in a couple of weeks.

Hope you're feeling well! (My birthday is end of may/ due date is day after....)

annlee3817 · 01/01/2022 13:07

Hello, I'm 40 and just 5+3, just wondered if anyone has had the harmony test, is it just a blood test or blood test and scan? Want to pay to get this done, have friends that have had it, but don't want to tell anyone yet, booking it in for around ten weeks

Honey2 · 01/01/2022 15:01

@annlee3817 hi, I had the harmony test with ultrasound direct and had a scan and blood test. I think it depends where you go as to if they offer the blood test without a scan… most like to do the scan first to be sure you are at least 10 weeks gestation. It’s expensive but at 40+ I really felt it was the reassurance I needed. with the NHS tests they class a score of 1:150 low risk and that wasn’t enough clarity for me.

Thanks @Honey2, good to know, happy to pay the money for the reassurance. There is an ultrasound direct near me I think, wasn't sure who would be good :)

Wildrobin · 01/01/2022 23:20

What a lovely thread especially the gorgeous baby photos! Congratulations!

I am 43 and 22 weeks pregnant with our 3rd, older DC are 15 and 10 and we’ve all got used to our shock and so excited.

I love feeling baby kicking and have just ordered a pregnancy pillow as feel so uncomfy at night now. I don’t remember having a sore back at this stage before.

TheLovleyChebbyMcGee · 01/01/2022 23:39

@burtle4 hello, yes I have!! Today is actually my due date, the scans I had around 34, 36 and another at about 37 weeks confirmed still breech and also measuring above the 97th centile, so they booked me in for an ELSC on the 31st, which got rescheduled almost immediately for the 2nd.

However, He wasn't for waiting till 2022 and and my waters broke on the 22nd at 38+4, so I had an emergency section, which was actually super chilled out and calm, 10lb 7, thats in the top 99th centile too!

Onehotmessiah · 01/01/2022 23:42

@burtle4

Hello! I turned 40 this year and am currently 37 weeks pregnant with our third (and final!) child. Other two are 9 and 7 and incredibly excited about the arrival of their new brother - hopefully before Christmas!! Am a bit worried about going back to the no sleep days, especially being almost 10 years older than when I started in motherhood but just have to keep reminding myself that the early days pass so quickly. It took us 2.5 years to finally fall pregnant with this one so it feels like a long road to get here but so excited that we're almost there!
We are very similar! Turned 40 3 weeks ago, currently 37 weeks, I have DS 10 and DD7! I’m being induced at 39 weeks, if she doesn’t make her own way out! X
burtle4 · 02/01/2022 01:35

@TheLovleyChebbyMcGee congratulations! Wow, what a weight for 38 weeks! I bet your glad that you didn't have to have him naturally 😅 Lovely to have him in time for Christmas too x
@Onehotmessiah so lovely to hear from people in a similar situation to me! Really hope your two love the new arrival as much as my two do, there's nothing like seeing them dote on their younger sibling 🥰

🥰 they are both really excited so I hope that carries on! Your lo was born on my 40th! 😂 congratulations xxx

@headspin10 how exciting, when is your 20 week scan? Mine is 13th Jan so not too long to wait. I also will have regular scans to check placenta blood flow after my late loss which is nice to see baby often. Starting to feel a few movements to now which is lovely.

@Onehotmessiah how funny! What's it like having a birthday on 11th December?! I feel really bad for him but I guess it could have been a lot worse!

TheLovleyChebbyMcGee · 02/01/2022 18:55

Thanks! Yes I was torn when I was told he was breech. I really wanted to have a vaginal birth, but also, ouch!!!

My older son was 10lb 11, he was forceps, but had 20 more days inside to grow than his little brother.

skeletonbones · 02/01/2022 19:06

Hello!,
Just found this thread while googling being over 40 and pregnant. I am 41 next month and nearly 8 weeks pregnant, wasn't planned but now I'm used to the idea am very looking forward to having another little one. I have 2 grown up children and two little ones, my youngest is 18 months so I was an older mum last time, but being 6 months under 40 seemed to make a big difference worry wise for me as much more worried this time about risks ect- maybe I've done too much googling?! I'm not having the NIPT as I can't afford it, I'll probaly not have the triple test either as I've heard it just comes back high anyway if you are over 40 so wont tell me much?

Honey2 · 02/01/2022 20:21

@skeletonbones congratulations! I guess it depends what you’d decide to do if you got a high risk result on the NHS test… age does play a part in the risk rating but if the other factors are low (ie NT measurement and hormones) then you can still get a low risk reading - mine was 1:1005 for Down’s syndrome and I’m 41

Littlemiss41andfabulous · 02/01/2022 23:24

Welcome to all the new mum's to be on this thread!

Quick update from me - 36 weeks and 3 days here and just put my 'out of office' on my work emails for the whole of 2022!!! Such a strange but fab feeling! I have 2 weeks annual leave before maternity leave starts and the countdown to delivery day has well and truly begun 😊

@skeletonbones not sure where you live but in Wales, they offer the NIPT test on the NHS if the 12 week bloods/USS calculation comes back high risk. I fully expected to be high risk aged 41 but actually my risk results were very low so I didn't end up needing it.

SerendipitySunshine · 02/01/2022 23:38

Thanks so much. I'm 22 weeks with an IVF pregnancy and it's finally starting to feel real!

Onehotmessiah · 03/01/2022 02:10

😂😂 I really like it, people tend to be in festive type moods. When I was younger I’d get annoyed having birthday presents wrapped in Christmas paper but I now cringe that I was so ungrateful! X

burtle4 · 03/01/2022 05:17

@Onehotmessiah that's so good to know! It was such a magical time of year for him to be born and I'm hoping that it's far enough from the actual day that he'll still manage to feel that his birthday is a separate occasion 🤞 Just need to remind people not to always give him joint Christmas and birthday presents - and not to wrap his birthday present in Christmas paper 😂

Honey2 · 04/01/2022 21:52

@Littlemiss41andfabulous that’s wonderful, how exciting! Do you have a date for induction? Is it spot on 39 weeks?

OP posts:
Littlemiss41andfabulous · 04/01/2022 23:31

@Honey2 no definite date yet but due date is 27th and my next growth scan is on 17th so I think I'll likely be booked for induction about 20th if nothing's happened by then.
