@Prema112 @rathernotshare @beansprout55 @RoseValleyRambles @InvisibleDragon thank you ladies for the bra recommendations! Looks like I need to ditch the wire idea then so will get on this today and try some of your suggestions, any excuse for some shopping at the moment 🙊

@alittlebitofsparkle35 these have become my saviour since my last post!!! Them and just ice packs in general. The coolness definitely seems to help over the heat. Hopefully the headaches calm down soon for us both xx

pregnancydiaries · 01/12/2021 08:01

@PeeAche I hear ya, next week can’t come soon enough. I’m very impatiently waiting for this bloody HG to go away, I’m sure you’re the same…

PeeAche · 01/12/2021 09:28

@pregnancydiaries my HG has calmed slightly. I think most people here would still describe it as horrendous but I've noticed a difference. I'm very very sick in the mornings but by about 8pm I am able to both eat and drink. This is a big deal as I have lost 17kg of my pre pregnancy weight and been hospitalised twice! 😂🎉

My DH: what do you want for dinner?
Me: go to M&S and buy ALL the Christmas party food. Make sure to get the pork belly bites. Don't come back unless you have the pork belly bites.

And lo, she feasted. And it was GOOD.

@PeeAche SO glad to hear your getting even the tiniest bit of relief now, keeping everything crossed it keeps up. I think yesterday was probably one of the worst days I’ve had so far but waiting for this HCG to start dropping…does that scare you? It terrifies me even though it’s totally normal!

M&S ANYTHING has been my saviour, Xmas party food it is now…you’ve got me craving xx

PeeAche · 01/12/2021 09:34

Oh, can we talk about puffy nipples? Anyone else got this?

Mine look and feel like a couple of Flumps that have been through the towel setting on the tumble drier. They seem to be slightly elongated too. It's quite literally disgusting to me. I am not finding "joy in the changes to my body" as per the Tommys website. (Was it written by a man?)

Also, and as a result of their distendation (not a real word) I keep catching them on things. 🤢

OP posts:
hellointhere · 01/12/2021 09:39

@peeache yes! I'm not sure what to make of the changes to my nipples. They look bigger and puffy. And they are more sensitive too!

I am feeling excited and scared today, my scan is this afternoon! My letter never arrived so I called up on Monday and they let me know when. @unaroses I am not great at keeping track of names but I think yours is today too so good luck! Apologies if I have mixed names up.

PeeAche · 01/12/2021 09:41

@pregnancydiaries I have found HG quite scary. I've learned some freaky things about how far my body can expel vomit, without warning, for one thing. But also, the weight loss has been terrifying. I started out quite overweight (and wasn't at risk of wasting away,) but it's been the speed of it. I've been losing weight faster than my replacement clothes can arrive.
Also, the way I haven't been hungry. I used to be the kind of person that would have to have a sit down if I missed a meal. Now I don't consume for 8 consecutive days and not so much as a grumble. I think I could die before I felt a hunger pang now, and that's not even an exaggeration.

The other day I wondered if this is what it is like for the little black babies with the distended bellies in Africa - they're starving but do they even feel it? Then I cried because literally everything makes me cry now.

It's the thirst that is the worst though. The hunger goes away but the thirst never ever ever stops. I think the thirst could drive me insane.

.... bet you wish you hadn't asked. 😜

Good luck with your scan @hellointhere xxx

@PeeAche flumps 😂😂 that has me howling. Mine are definitley bigger, if I get cold they are sooooo sore!!

PeeAche · 01/12/2021 09:45

I've re-read your post @pregnancydiaries and I see that you're actually scared about your hCG dropping - good news is, it doesn't! It's just that the placenta takes it all over. So my midwife says anyway.

I'm feeling comforted by the knowledge that my levels will start to drop around the time of my scan and then I'll get to see baby again and know they're alright.

Sorry for all the ranting. The server is offline at work so.... 🤷🏻‍♀️

Fun question for you all. What do you feel like you're having? In my mind, mine is a boy.

HopefulJ2018 · 01/12/2021 10:20

@PeeAche and @pregnancydiaries I'm 12 weeks today and my HG has started to ease abit in the last few days. I can eat abit more but like you @PeeAche still so so thirsty.
Before the hungry didn't bother me like you @PeeAche now I'm starving and feel more exhausted from lack of food.
Threw up bile this morning as I didn't eat quick enough damn that's painful.
My midwife said you keep taking it easy when you feel a bit better as if you do too much it can make you feel worse
Smile

Pandamama88 · 01/12/2021 10:24

@PeeAche I'm so glad you are able to get some food and drink down you! X

Prema112 · 01/12/2021 10:28

@pregnancydiaries & @PeeAche gosh your HG sounds awful Sad So sorry you've suffered so much. I'm 14 weeks now and still just feeling nauseous almost all the time and generally rubbish.

@PeeAche I'm almost certain mines a girl. For one thing they have always been small at every scan (which I'm trying not to freak out about Hmm) and I've just got a feeling...

pregnancydiaries · 01/12/2021 10:31

Thanks @Prema112, honestly I think the nausea is worse than the sickness so I feel for you!!

I’m convinced I’m having a boy because only a boy could give you this much grief and make you this sick 😂 @PeeAche

Vimto1991 · 01/12/2021 11:01

@peeache Nub theory (see my post with scan at the top) makes me think girl on my ultrasound! I could be wrong, though. I don’t mind what I have. DH wants a boy but wouldn’t mind a girl.

destiEos · 01/12/2021 11:24

@Journeylikenomother Thanks for asking, I did finally get to see the doctor, and she did a scan although not a thorough one - I'll go back Thursday morning for that.

Nausea - seems a bit better today.
Constipation - yep, isn't it wonderful, I try to wait until I NEED to go to avoid getting piles 😠
Headaches - very kindly alternates with nausea, so I can be upright feeling nauseous or horizontal with a headache!
M&S Christmas food - I am DREAMING of real food, my mouth is watering but my stomach still says toast only 😞
Maternity bras - My H&M order arrived yesterday. I foolishly ordered medium mama pants and bras: they just fit me, I should probably order the large versions now for next week 😂 The soft bras are heaven, I've been doing without for a couple of weeks, which is fine as I haven't been out of the flat!
H&M mama range: Tried on all the items I bought and I'm keeping the lot. - I now have maternity jeans!! They have pretend flies!! I love them, although to much bump material for me at the moment, but I'm sure I'll grow into them 😉**

  • Dungaree dress is very cute, and room to grow.
  • A couple of jumpers both with plenty of space for growth: woolly pink and grey sweatshirt; both are supersoft 💕
  • Stripy soft stretchy dress is very comfortable even if I look like a sausage 😊
  • Black floaty top, which hub says is so lovely I should wear it after pregnancy too!
  • Change bag, don't know husband thought it looked tacky and cheap before I bought it and I got it in black so might return. I thought I could use it for hospital bag too. Anyone have one/any suggestions?

Just realised I should have taken some photos, but I'll try and put them up as I wear them - it might be a while I am in PJ's on the sofa at the moment..

Scan - He wasn't moving at all for the first few seconds, and I was a bit worried, like "um, is he sleeping, or...", Doc said they don't move all the time and he was fine and she let us hear his tiny heart ❤️ Then he must have heard me and he started dancing about, waving and stretching out his tiny legs and he turned over and lay on the placenta all cosy-like 🥰

Sex - Nope, I'd probably throw up 😬. And baby's sex: have felt it's a boy since before the nausea but that confirmed it for me. What do I know though, could be either and it will probably change it's mind when it gets to teenage years anyway 😂

destiEos · 01/12/2021 11:25

It's a baby! 💕🥳

Hi. I've been lurking for a while and too nervous to post. But now 11+1 and had 2 scans, one at 7 weeks from the IVF clinic and 1 at 9 weeks for my own peace of mind. We have our 12 week scan in 2 weeks time and it feels like forever to wait.
Does anyone have awful reflux? I honestly don't know if my symptoms are pregnancy nausea or reflux, the GP thinks it might be both and I'm going to be switching from prochloperazine to cyclizine. I'm on the maximum dose of omeprazole and I've to take gaviscon after every meal now and before bed. I feel like a useless lump at the moment 😂 I can't seem to do anything. At one point my food aversions were so bad I couldn't open my fridge and I still retch whenever someone talks about certain foods.

Prema112 · 01/12/2021 11:42

@destiEos beautiful scan!! Mine didn't move much yesterday either but did give us a wave Smile

Unarosaes · 01/12/2021 11:42

@destiEos so great to hear a happy scan update!

@hellointhere I also have my scan today, but not until 6.15pm and it is driving me maaaad. I can't wait for the time to come. I have been super nervous all week and decided to take the afternoon off work to see if I can get a bit distracted and stop fretting. I also try to remind myself I've had two great early scans and no worrying signs, so all should be well...!!!! what time is yours? and how are you coping with the wait?

Turniptracker · 01/12/2021 11:43

Puffy elongated nipples has me howling @PeeAche
I dreamt a few times I had a girl and there are some myths about dairy cravings being a girl (also I kind of am hoping for a girl so I am biased!)
Has anyone else found a loss of cravings as the nausea reduces? I used to fixate on a particular food, like pickled beetroot, cheese or cucumber and I simply had to eat them asap. It made it much easier to decide what to eat. Now I'm just a bit meh about everything) although it goes down a lot easier now.

destiEos · 01/12/2021 11:58

@Kitkat247 sorry to hear it, you sound just like me. I forgot to mention the doc prescribed me Cyclizine and Omeprazole yesterday (as well as telling me to get back on aspirin as soon as I felt my stomach could handle it.)

Opening the fridge is the worst. Had my other half go through and throw everything even vaguely suspect out and put a plate of bicarbonate of soda in to soak up other smells.

I'm day 1 on the meds, wish I'd asked for them weeks ago, but I'll let you know if they do anything for me. I'm holding out hope that I'll be ok before Christmas 🤞🏻

Thanks @Prema112 and @Unarosaes - was quite pleased with how clear it came out. Didn't think I'd be so pleased but I was laughing with joy when he started moving! Also crying, because as someone else mentioned - that's just what I do now 😂

RossBaku · 01/12/2021 12:06

Hello,

First time poster so hello and congratulations to everyone!

We’ve just been for our 12-week scan today (first child) and the midwife went to get a second opinion about how flat the back of our baby’s head appears. The end result is we’ve got another scan in exactly two weeks as they want to see further development before saying if there is anything wrong or if all is fine…a worrying time to say the least!!

Just wondered if anyone had heard of or has experience with this kind of situation before? The positive note is that they are happy with brain development etc etc it’s just this flat section that they want to investigate further.

Thanks!

Kitkat247 · 01/12/2021 12:06

@destiEos I found the omeprazole really helped, I went from vomiting bile almost hourly to it being more around mealtimes and more just retching and burping than bringing up bile. Honestly it's so glamorous. So I hope they really help you as well.

DaimDillyDoo · 01/12/2021 12:18

Everyone has really clear scan pics... then there's mine which you can barely make out Grin
