Hey @Rach921 6 days overdue here and also introducing to myself that I could have an October baby! Always thought I'd be early!
How was the chat with your midwife? I also intend to refuse induction, but am worried about the reaction I will get from my midwife, especially as DH can't attend the appointment and I really don't like conflict.
I'm meant to be maid of honour at my best friends wedding this Saturday. That's looking more unlikely by the day!

Rach921 · 27/09/2021 08:49

Hi @bluemagicalsky it’s so frustrating isn’t it? I was adamant baby would be early so this feels so odd to me.

It was actually the midwife who suggested it to me! I’m set up for a home birth and she said to me that she assumed I would refuse an induction. I asked if it was allowed and her response was of course it was and that unless your body is ready, induction won’t work and it’s highly likely you’ll end up with a c section so why put yourself through it. She said baby will come when they’re ready and “you can’t stay pregnant forever” It was actually really refreshing to have someone speak like that rather than push intervention as they usually do! If there’s a medical reason for induction then of course I’d take it but not just because he’s late. They just offer extra monitoring until baby arrives.

Oh gosh, you were brave agreeing to that! I’m meant to be a bridesmaid on 7th October but I’d said even if baby was on time, and uncomplicated birth, it would be highly unlikely I’d be there x

Peachee · 27/09/2021 12:21

Heyy ! I’m having my c section tomorrow. Nerves are setting in a bit.. it’s all becoming a bit real.. I also feel so glad because I’m so big and heavy now and seeing about 15-20 times a night.. not sure my belly can stretch much more!!

MissMarion · 27/09/2021 12:39

@Rach921 thanks for checking in on us!
I'm not technically overdue yet (39+4) but trying to accept the idea that I will most likely be and have an October baby... (why was I so convinced I'd be early??)
My midwife attempted a sweep this morning but I'm barely 1 cm dilated so it looks like I'm going to have to wait another couple of weeks!! Hard to imagine atm as I'm so fed up (have been for weeks) and really not keen on getting induced. The waiting game continues I guess...

Rach921 · 27/09/2021 12:42

@MissMarion 1cm dilated sounds promising! It can all change so quickly, that’s what I keep thinking. Hopefully it’ll happen quickly for you. I know what you mean about being fed up. It’s so hard isn’t it? All the girls in my nct group have had their babies and I’m starting to feel like mine is never going to arrive!

steph246 · 27/09/2021 13:13

🙋🏻‍♀️ still pregnant over here too! 40+1
Got my first sweep tomorrow so praying that kick starts things 🙏🏼

We got this! Our babies our obviously very comfy! ❤️

marshmallowmode · 27/09/2021 13:31

Also still very much pregnant 😆
Due date is today so baby doesn't have long if he wants to be punctual haha.

I had loads of cramps and mild contractions all of last week so really thought he'd be here by now. But it's now totally died off and I feel normal (other than feeling like a whale of course 😉). Suspect I'll be having an October baby after all too!

I've got my first sweep booked in for Sunday as they don't do it earlier than about 41 weeks here. I'd like to avoid induction but I can have an outpatient induction at 40+10 or an inpatient at 40+12 and I'd definitely rather go home in between so I'm not without my partner in early labour. So I'm likely to go for that if nothing happens before then.

Suma2021 · 27/09/2021 14:49

Hi @Rach921 and @bluemagicalsky
6 days "overdue" here and convinced he would be early too! Coming to terms with him being an October baby now. Easier said that done but try not to feel disheartened, remember that due dates aren't set in stone - I've been telling myself "due FROM" my date instead which helps a bit.

I've been having some dull periody aches, but few and far between. His movements are verging on painful now, they feel so low down and as if they are directly on my cervix...Bleugh Sad

Rach921 · 27/09/2021 15:38

My sweep was successful today. Only 1cm dilated but my cervix has shortened and softened. His head is super low to the point she could easily feel it and he kept kicking me when she did the sweep as she was touching his head 🤣 got another one booked for Friday but hoping this will kick start things

MrsTD88 · 27/09/2021 16:07

@Peachee good luck for tomorrow! I hope all goes smoothly.

I hope all you ladies that are overdue get to meet your precious babies really soon. I went 2 weeks over with my first so can sympathise with the waiting.

bluemagicalsky · 27/09/2021 16:44

@Rach921 oh wow thanks for sharing that, definitely makes me feel more positive and confident if I do make it to my 41+2 midwife appointment. How fantastic to have such an understanding supportive midwife.

I think she has planned for me not to be there. The reception is 5 minutes up the road from me, so I hope to make it at some point, even if it's just for an hour.

@Suma2021 sounds like we all thought we'd be early 😂 Sorry to hear you are in pain, but that sounds so positive for birth! Got some lower back pain today, but I swear when I sleep he just loves moving back up into my ribs!

All the best for tomorrow @Peachee Very exciting

Sounds like we're all moving in the right direction. We've got this ladies!

SP2Bx · 27/09/2021 19:21

I'm with you as well ladies! 40+5 today, first sweep attempt tomorrow and reeeally hoping that by waiting until now it pays off and she can do me a real good one! 🤞🏼

I'll be avoiding induction at all costs too @Rach921 but prepared for the conversation tomorrow so that I can prepare myself at least... also preparing myself for an October baby at this rate too!

Genuinely didn't think I was an overdue person 😩

MissMarion · 27/09/2021 20:28

Ladies... how do you tell people who keep asking for updates to bugger off without telling them to bugger off? Like, why are you even asking? if baby was here I would have told you!
I'm frustrated enough without having to answer all the questions.. Angry I reached a point in my pregnancy where I just want to crawl into a hole and not be bothered by anybody until baby comes haha

Suma2021 · 27/09/2021 21:47

Haha @MissMarion , I think everyone is in the same boat for sure! I know people mean well but as if we wouldn't tell them if we had a baby 😅
I've politely told them I'll let them know as soon as we have news and that I'm just trying to chill and not put pressure on myself for going over my due date or dwell on it too much...hoping they get the hint! Grin
My husband's family are actually calling him every day! He's Romanian and their culture is a bit different with that sort of thing - normal for everyone to get super involved ! He's very good though and tries to sneak off to update them without me realising.

Suma2021 · 27/09/2021 21:51

@SP2Bx Same here, I am literally such an early bird in every aspect - my ultimate life stress is being late for anything so I was so convinced baby would be like me and come early 😂

Taybz · 27/09/2021 22:04

Ladies, our baby boy was born last night with an emergency caesarean and over 24hours of horrendous labour which involved induction, reduced contractions, drip, epidural and lack of dilation.Everything I didn't envision in my birth plan happened and it was very traumatic but our baby boy is lush and just being able to enjoy him has made it all worth it.
If you're overdue and anti-induction, I'd say hang in there for as long as safely possible because these are just estimates dates which can be totally off by a good week. In retrospect, I feel I was induced too soon, based on the information I was given I felt it was the right choice at the time but ultimately my body just wasn't ready. It is what it is and can't go back.
Good luck to all those waiting! Xx

Jary6 · 27/09/2021 23:04

@Taybz congratulations on your little boy, I'm sorry it sounds like such an ordeal for you and know how you feel as that's exactly what happened with my first. Now that he's here you can focus on him and put that experience behind you.

I'm so pleased that part is over for you now x

Suma2021 · 27/09/2021 23:46

Hi @Taybz thanks for sharing your experience and sorry it wasn't the experience you envisaged in the end. Congratulations on the birth of your baby boy FlowersSmileSmile. Hope your recovery goes smoothly 💙

marshmallowmode · 28/09/2021 10:01

Congrats @Taybz. Sorry you had such a rough time but at least he's here now!

I haven't had too many people asking if he's here yet but it makes me laugh when people do, especially close friends/family members. Like I wouldn't let you know if I popped out a baby 😂.

I'm bored of maternity leave now though without a baby to keep me busy. Had two weeks off now so I've done all my pre-baby chores and nesting stuff. House is the cleanest it will ever be. Now just rolling around the house drinking tea and eating brownies and getting grumpy haha.

MissMarion · 28/09/2021 10:31

@Taybz so sorry you went through all this, but happy for you he's here and healthy! Your experience does not make me feel better about inductions... it feels like they all end up in instrumental delivery or C-section.

@marshmallowmode I feel you, I'm so bored too! Hoping your sweep is successful on Sunday!

@Suma2021 surely him feeling so low means things are moving in the right direction, hang in there!

@Rach921 that's great news, baby should be here soon!

@SP2Bx hope your sweep is successful, good luck!

For those overdue, was your due date brought forward at the 12 week scan compared to that based on your last period? Mine was by 5 days, and I was quite surprised cause I know exactly when my last period was and when I ovulated (was tracking). I thought instead of telling me I ovulated 5 days earlier than I thought, maybe baby was just 5 days bigger than she should be? And maybe my EDD is wrong then... I'd be interested to know your experience.

Squibble84 · 28/09/2021 11:02

@Taybz congratulations!! Sorry you had a tough time, your labour sounds identical to my first one and I’ve always pinned it to the fact that I was induced when I wasn’t ready. Hope you and baby are both doing well xx

SP2Bx · 28/09/2021 12:27

@MissMarion My EDD was brought forward by a day I think but I had a scan at what I thought was 6 weeks only to be told I was 9 weeks along because I had "periods" for the first 5 months!! Anyway the first day of last period thing by their calculations actually is the last day of my last period (because I was logging periods) and so that tracker put my EDD back by 2 days...

Either way I'm overdue now anyway but my dates are definitely all over the place!!!

GummyBear91 · 28/09/2021 21:55

Hi all!

I'm 40+3 now. I had a sweep on Friday which showed I was 2cm with my cervix soft and stretchy. Midwife was able to perform the sweep bit sadly it's not done the trick. I have another booked on Friday at 40+6 and really hope that works. Baby is very low (2/5 engaged on Friday) so I feel like she's making moves. I have loads of lightening pains and Braxton Hicks including 12 hours of regular mild contractions on Sunday night but sadly they stopped.

I am booked in for an induction at 41+5 with the hope that I won't be needing it. I know it will be starting with the Foley Balloon so really hoping I need nothing more after that. Might refuse much intervention further but very aware of not wanting to put baby at risk past 42 weeks either. Catch 22!

I am feeling positive one moment and completely despairing the next. I really want to meet our baby now!!

Taybz · 28/09/2021 23:38

Thanks everyone for your well wishes. It's been quite the whirlwind. Finally out of hospital and am struggling with the pains of the C-section. Going in and off the bed and finding a comfortable position is absolute agony. Manoeuvrability is also very difficult. Does anyone who has had a C-section have any good tips/tricks? Please tell me when the pain gets better!

bluemagicalsky · 29/09/2021 02:25

Sending so many good vibes to everyone overdue and still waiting!
My little one was born at 41 weeks yesterday and was an at home water birth. And wow does he have a set of lungs on him, never heard a newborn scream so loud! How do you get sleep with a newborn?? First night, and me and DH are having to do shifts!
