Good luck to all those who are in labour!

Congratulations @leftitlate37

Had my growth scan yesterday and baby is measuring 9lb 12oz (40 weeks)

Joey86 · 02/09/2021 15:28

Had my 5th stretch and sweep today. Not gonna bother having any more now. There's been zero effect. My bishop score is still 5. No point continuing with my induction with a score that low, I've been told anything under 8 is unfavorable, and unlikely to result in a vaginal birth. So I'm glad we didn't let them break my waters last week when my score was only 3!
We're gonna ask for a second pessary when I'm 41weeks. Our hospital doesn't use the prostaglandin gel, annoyingly, as apparently it is much better.

Feeling crap, still full of a cold, still have a trapped nerve in my back, my neck is really tense, and I have mosquito bites on my bump which are driving me insane.

Baby is being pretty quiet today, didn't mention it to the mw as I don't fancy having to go for monitoring. He is moving, just not lots. And his heart rate was fine when she listened in today.

FTEngineerM · 02/09/2021 15:58

Congratulations @leftitlate37🥳🥳

@KHR1 are they going to let you go much over if they’re that size atm?

KHR1 · 02/09/2021 17:33

@FTEngineerM I'm getting induced on Saturday but tbh the consultant I saw on Tuesday didn't seem too concerned at all about the size - his words were that I could get induced 'early' if I wanted because of my BP (the date he offered isn't early and I don't think he even looked at my growth chart as he seemed surprised when I said my normal consultant wanted to induce fairly soon after term due to size).

JasVL · 02/09/2021 17:41

Congratulations to everyone who have had their babies in the last few days!

We're home with Amelia now and getting settled. I feel so emotional, but recovering so well.

Really surprised at how well I feel, my scar looks great and I'm able to do pretty much everything around the house. The advice was to not lift anything heavier than baby, which hasn't been a problem.

The newborn bubble is real! We have to take her for her heel prick test tomorrow and I'm really not ready to go out with her just - we've only just got home!

I just want all the snuggles in the world💖

SP2Bx · 02/09/2021 17:44

@bluemagicalsky Well we're going for it! And I was super pleased to learn they bring a pool with them - I just have to go online and buy a hose and liner kit! Can't believe we're doing it, but I actually feel so excited!

Sceptre86 · 02/09/2021 18:26

Hi all, our baby girl was born on the 1st of September at 12.12pm. She weighed 9lb 4oz and is a big bundle of love.

I did end up getting checked over on Tuesday and was told to attend daybed on Wednesday. The consultant discussed my desire for a vbac2 and we weighed it up against the dangers to myself and baby due to the obstetric cholestasis.I decided to go to for the section and it was the most positive out of all of mine. The surgery itself was carried out by a consultant, I had a consultant anaesthetist and it was all very calm, not rushed like my previous experiences. I felt very much cared for and listened to. Hoping to be discharged tomorrow as am very much missing my older two children. Best of luck for everyone still waiting for their lots x

unicornpower · 02/09/2021 18:47

We had a growth scan today and baby is still measuring small so I’m being induced next Thursday, I’m a bit overwhelmed at the moment (never wanted a glass of wine more!)

I’m repacking my bags as they’ve told me to pack for at least 4-5 days, aside from snacks and extra clothes is there anything else I should take? I’ve got my kindle, iPad and I’m going to take a notebook and pen etc, my own pillows and blanket. any other suggestions? My husband can be there 9-9 until labour starts and then he can stay indefinitely.

I’m treating myself to a pamper and getting my nails and a facial done on Monday (small things!)

KHR1 · 02/09/2021 19:16

Congratulations @Sceptre86 hope you are both doing well

Jary6 · 02/09/2021 19:56

@Joey86 sounds like you've been through it all but baby isn't ready yet. I feel for you there as I'm 37 weeks tomorrow and have had enough.

I've also had a cold for over 6 weeks now, had so many PCR tests that are negative and the GP today decided to give me antibiotics today so hoping that clears me up before labour.

SillyBry · 02/09/2021 20:10

@unicornpower Enjoy the nails and facial... my mum treated me to a pedicure and quick manicure yesterday... apart from the fact I felt a bit squished in the chair, it was SOOOO nice! Enjoy the down time and being pampered pre-hospital stay!

CherLW · 02/09/2021 22:35

I’m so excited to hear about all the babies arriving or on their way!! ❤️

My Jesse is a week old today and I’ve basically cried almost all of the day 😭 so much love! Xx

FTEngineerM · 02/09/2021 22:45

Congratulations @Sceptre86

So many babies now, not going to lie Im soooo wishing he makes an appearance soon.

LauEli · 02/09/2021 22:52

Congratulations @Sceptre86 hope your doing well 💐😁

CherLW · 02/09/2021 23:43

Ladies who’ve babies have arrived already….

Anyone breast feeding? I’m one week in and milk is pretty much pouring out of me! It soaks whatever it rests on. Is this where I should use one of those plastic suction pumps like a Hakka pump?

GWhiteley · 03/09/2021 01:06

Those that now have had babies arrive - we could us this thread that was set up a while ago...

Babies due September 2021 www.mumsnet.com/Talk/postnatal_clubs/4326386-Babies-due-September-2021

GWhiteley · 03/09/2021 01:13

@unicornpower take plenty of pants & pads & also if you're going to be there for more than 3 days then I'd suggest some breast pads as well.

I wasn't induced in the end, had natural contractions that started the night before I was due to come in, but ended up needed a spinal tap & forceps as I had severe back pain & couldn't push & she was on her side anyway.

What people don't always warn you about is how much blood you actually lose after the birth & beyond for anything up to 2 weeks. Or that you can lose control of your bladder & basically pee yourself no matter how hard you try to keep it in.

Good luck to those that are coming up, the skin on skin cuddles are worth anything that happens xx

SillyBry · 03/09/2021 06:11

@CherLW I would definitely pick up a silicone/suction milk catcher thing. Might as well start a milk stash whilst you have oodles of milk!
You can buy milk storage bags, which I used to label and freeze. Top tip… don’t fill them all to capacity as especially in the early days, you won’t need all the at much for a full feed, but once you defrost it, you’ve got a limited time to use it.
From about 6 weeks, my husband gave Expressed milk once a day at our bedtime and I would say it saved my sanity/breastfeeding journey!!

Scotti84 · 03/09/2021 08:18

Morning all, so our little Lilly arrived yesterday evening after a somewhat dramatic end to an induction.

Went in on Wed morning to be induced due to GD and a guessed weight of around 9lb. Had a tablet then another 2 hrs later, nothing happened until 2am when my waters broke. What no one tells you there is how much fluid there is! And that it doesn't stop! And it stinks! So glad i was in hospital n didnt have to clean that up at home! Anyway, then contractions started, they were ok, then was checked next morning and given an enema as they said that would also speed things up, well it did, i was contracting pretty much without a break and they were really painful. Went in the birthing pool which did nothing to help so got out and asked for an epidural. Took a while as they kept telling me to relax, while one dr was pressing on my shoulders to keep me still and i was still having awful contractions, anyway they got that in and it was immediate relief! I managed to sleep a bit and then they hooked me up to an induction drip to get things going. Thats when it got a bit scary, i got to 10cm dilated but after 3 hrs pushing she wasnt making progress and was getting distressed. They ramped up the drip but still no movement. Called the dr over and he said it looked like a section would be needed. I wasnt prepared for that and really didnt want to go that route unless of course baby needed it. He said we could try suction cups so he would hold her head and guide her as i pushed. Well i have never pushed and screamed so loud in my life, im normally calm but it just didnt feel possible to get her out, had a word with myself and decided to try n ignore everything and just bloody do it and about half hour later she was there. The reason she couldnt move down on her own was the cord was wrapped round her neck twice so she was getting strangled. I cant even think about what the outcome could have been, but the team were fantastic and in the end the huge 9lb baby with a big head was 7lb 2!

I tore a fair bit, i think mostly from the metal suction cup so have a few stitches and completely agree with @GWhiteley about the blood, woke up to what looked like a murder scene this morning!

Sorry for the long post, but all you ladies still waiting, what will be will be, try not to plan too much because these little ones make their own rules, and while yesterday was the most pain ive ever known and i already told hubby not to even think about having another one for a good while, it is so worth it when they are here.

SP2Bx · 03/09/2021 08:20

@CherLW Haven't given birth myself yet but I have one of those at the ready! I went for the Nature Bond one (same thing really but pretty and pink) - defo don't want to be wasting any of precious milk while it's flowing so freely!!!

SP2Bx · 03/09/2021 08:24

Congratulations on the arrival of Lilly, @Scotti84 💕 They don't like to make it easy for us do they, but you did it! Now rest up, enjoy aaaaall the cuddles, and hopefully you'll be home soon x

KHR1 · 03/09/2021 08:33

congratulations @Scotti84!

bluemagicalsky · 03/09/2021 09:03

@SP2Bx Ah that is fantastic news!! And so great they bring a pool with them! Ah I feel the same, so happy for you x

Mamabearwhere · 03/09/2021 09:04

Congratulations @Scotti84 well done for getting through that and enjoy all the baby cuddles! I wrote a very loose “birth preference” last night but totally expecting it to go however it wants to go.
