@unicornpower, I'm hardly sleeping either. Not sure what I can do to help myself sleep...

Kirky658 · 25/06/2021 09:12

@sp2bx omg that's so cute I love winnie the pooh. We also need a unisex one that DH is happy to carry around! Mind you he often carries my Radley backpack around now without complaint 🤣

Exciting day for me today. I'm announcing my pregnancy to my accounts as I'll be finishing in 6 weeks!

leftitlate37 · 25/06/2021 09:41

hey all! ah my gosh @Kirky658 thats such a shock for your friend, hope they r all doing ok!
u guys r doing well on the names front! we r REALLY struggling! got 2 middle names sorted (family names so was easy), but had no boys names really, although lots of girls! my nephew nicknamed him, and hes become known as this name, and its sticking - but problem is its not really the kind of name u can call someone without him growing up to be a cool rockstar or something. gonna have to see what happens when he is born!
ugh feel your struggles those of you who cant sleep. i never got the whoe pregnancy glow thing but defo not wrong that the 2nd trimester is a lot easier. hit 28 weeks and ive just been so uncomfortable! nearly 30...so least they r ticking by, although not sure can do another 10 weeks my stomach feels like its fit to burst!
getting so much movement, does anyone else find it really weird the places u get pokes and jabs!? some are so far round the side or up high, i cant get my head round the fact that baby extends that far!!
most people at work dont know am pregnant but pretty sure as ive been off a week that itll be obvious now, bump defo noticeable ... no hiding it under tops i dont think!
@SillyBry did u have your anti D in the end? i was dreading mine, as people had made out like needle was massive and was surprised it went in bum or thigh but it was so NOT bad! flinched more with the whooping cough one!!! and least it didnt hurt after like your arm does!!

Kirky658 · 25/06/2021 16:00

Well ladies not heard about my GTT results today and was told I'd get a call if it was positive so keeping everything crossed ✌️

SillyBry · 25/06/2021 17:14

I had a phone appointment with my GP today and I asked her to check my records whilst I was there, my bloods all came back fine so no GD concerns, here thank goodness!

I had a bit of a stress moment as I get coldsore outbreaks on my thigh/buttocks occasionally. I usually take anti viral meds for an outbreak. During pregnancy, they say to avoid the tablets until your 3rd trimester, when they would rather give you the drugs as they don't want any risk of you passing it to the baby. So I rang the Dr to ask if I could have some, at which point she was like "you ought to be consultant led. You will need a caesarian. You can't deliver vaginally as you are high risk". Talk about causing me to panic! She then rang the consultant obstetrician at the hospital before ringing me back to say that actually that was all wrong. If I had genital herpes, they would give me the anti virals, but actually on my buttocks, there is no risk to baby, even if I had an outbreak, so I just need to suffer and not be allowed the tablets. But no panic over consultants or c sections either. Honestly, talk about a drama over nothing!

@leftitlate37 No Anti D required for me! Was it @Sillysocks998? (Too many Sillies! ;-) )

crobo87 · 25/06/2021 18:18

@SillyBry I also normally take anti vitals for the cold sore virus but I get it in my eye. So far I've been ok, hoping I'll be ok until baby is here now 🤞🏻
Hope yours clears up soon xx

AdventuresAwait · 25/06/2021 18:32

Since turning 29 weeks yesterday, my bump is pretty uncomfortable and crampy. Anyone else?

Kirky658 · 25/06/2021 19:15

@adventuresawait yep deffo me yesterday in 28+2 now. Bit better today have just tried to take it easy.

AdventuresAwait · 25/06/2021 19:18

Ok thanks @Kirky658. It just seems to have come on quite quickly! Bending etc is difficult now.

Kirky658 · 25/06/2021 19:21

@adventuresawait yep likewise. 😆 All of a sudden I feel like an elephant. Struggling to pick stuff up off the floor already... Dreading getting much bigger!

SillyBry · 25/06/2021 19:28

@crobo87 Ouch, that sounds uncomfortable!
It's a bit of a funny one... I felt like I was the one telling the Dr how it needed to be treated! So I was glad that the obstetrician agreed with me, not her.
But I would feel more comfortable knowing I could take anti virals towards the end if I needed to. Mine takes so much longer to clear up without the tablets, so I'll just be sitting on a pack of peas to numb the itch tonight! ;-)

Hope everyone is doing ok! Another week ticked off. I hit 30 weeks after the weekend... eek!

Had a friend come round today - she is newly qualified as a post natal doula, so she used me as her guinea pig to do a 2 hour planning session. It was good - lots of reminding myself to be kind to myself and finding 5 or 10 minutes to be mindful and quiet, even in the chaos! She also talked about writing my birthing wishes/plan and what's important to include... plus remembering to actually include the husband in these plans, so he can be my advocate.

If anyone is worrying they don't have support from family after birth, a post natal doula might be your answer - she's like I can do anything from coming and holding the baby whilst you have a bath or putting washing and cooking on whilst you manage the baby etc... as well as advise/support feeding/sleep/wellbeing etc. Not something I'd considered, but it's nice to have someone to talk it all through :-)

Mamabearwhere · 25/06/2021 19:47

@Kirky658 @AdventuresAwait I’m with you on feeling huge and uncomfortable. My bump is super crampy too.

My 6 year old keeps telling me pack my hospital bag in case baby comes early. I don’t know if she’s getting a premonition or just trying to prep me but either way I’m stressing now I’m case she’s sensing something. I plan on washing all the baby stuff and packing my bags just in case!!

GWhiteley · 25/06/2021 20:15

Yep with you all on the suddenly huge bump & struggling to bend down! 30 weeks today & starting to get tired a lot quicker.

Definitely getting braxton hicks in the evening when I go to bed & think I've been having them for a while. I thought it was the baby moving around or kicking but as I've got further along I can tell they're not the same feeling.

Had a sore throat today & felt extra tired, plus (and sorry for tmi) but a lot of hard snot building up in my nose throughout the day. Took a lateral flow test & it's negative but not sure whether I should wait & see what develops or go & see a pharmacist.

AdventuresAwait · 25/06/2021 20:18

@Kirky658 and @Mamabearwhere that's exactly how I'm feeling! I also thought about packing my bag just in case!

But yes, cramps and so uncomfortable but happened so suddenly... it is good to share and know it isn't just me.

Mamabearwhere · 25/06/2021 20:32

Ladies I know this might sound daft as a mum of two kids (you’d think I know) but my minds gone super blank. Apart from the big items such as pram, cot, bouncers plus clothes, what else have you bought ? I really feel like I’m forgetting some important things. I gave away everything after my 2 and now really struggling to think what I need. I know I bought everything on the market last two times and don’t want to do that again unless essential.

GWhiteley · 25/06/2021 21:07

@Mamabearwhere sounds like more the small stuff now. Baby bath, muslins, baby sling, towels, hat, mittens, bedding for cot/mosses basket, bottles & sterilising unit if not breastfeeding (or even if you are), baby monitor, nail clippers & such like

SP2Bx · 25/06/2021 21:37

Oh I'm with you all on the suddenly feeling enormous but I'm a few weeks behind you at 27+2!
Everyone who's asked how I am this weekend has had the same response "suddenly very pregnant"! I'm grateful that I've had nothing to complain about so far really, but all of a sudden I've got back ache, can't bend over, everything is that bit more difficult and the kicks can be quite uncomfortable at times as lovely as they are 🙈
I've even admitted defeat and told DP no more hosting duties for us now 🙅🏼‍♀️ (he's always inviting family over for BBQs/roast dinners etc. yet we never get offered in return 🙄) Time to slow down I think!

AdventuresAwait · 25/06/2021 21:48

Totally get it @SP2Bx, everything is suddenly more difficult and yes to feeling "suddenly very pregnant"... definitely time to slow down!

Kirky658 · 25/06/2021 21:49

@sp2bx yeah I am deffo feeling its time to start slowing down. I've been walking 5-6 miles a day since I stopped running and some days (like today) I just felt meh.

I've been asked by two random people we don't know the last 2 days 'bet it's not long till baby is due, how long have you got' and them being shocked when I say 12 weeks to go! Think next time I'm asked I'm going to say 'what baby?' hahahaha

MrsTD88 · 25/06/2021 22:12

@Mamabearwhere I just pulled out all our old stuff today and found a few things I forgot we had. One being a bath seat that was fab so I'm glad we kept that. Also have pram, car seat, swing, baby gym, jumperoo, baby carrier, steriliser and bottle warmer (for breast milk stored in the fridge). Lots of little toys too that will do the early stages. I need to buy new monitors, bottles, breast pump and clothes mainly plus muslins, mittens, hats and bibs. Also need some new cellular blankets for swaddling. Got new crib sheets as we bought a next to me crib this time and will get some new pram sheets too. I really need to stock up on Nappies and Toiletries for baby now. Also considering a new changing bag. I also need a new rain cover as discovered our old one has a rip and will definitely be needing that in the autumn / winter months.

SP2Bx · 25/06/2021 22:26

@Kirky658 Hahaha please do! That would be priceless! I've only ever had one random comment on me being pregnant, maybe I just look like I could've eaten too much flapjack (which is also true) 😂

@Mamabearwhere I'm just down to the small stuff now too and I think I'm almost there then the list keeps growing! Don't forget the bits for you as well like breast pads, maternity pads, lotions and potions - you know, all that glamorous stuff!!!

FTEngineerM · 25/06/2021 23:09

Ladies I’m so jel of you buying all new baby things; my DP stiiiiiilllllllll hasn’t got them down from the attic, I’m envisioning him doing it whilst we’re in hospital before we come home at this rate ☹️.

@Kirky658 that’s exciting you finish in 6 weeks!! That’s starting to sound more and more appealing.

Had my GTT and I haven’t heard anything, I can’t remember when they said they’d call, how long did you all wait?

Sophieandtiger · 26/06/2021 00:16

@GWhiteley I also took a test today (thankfully negative) with similar symptoms as well as nausea and aches. DC1 also came home from nursery with a 39.5 temperature. I've also been wondering at what point I need to get advice from midwife/GP or let it run its course. Fingerd crossed everyone is better tomorrow and we can forget about it!

Hope you feel better soon!

CherLW · 26/06/2021 01:23

Ladies, on the subject of buying things… I have bought some breast pads ( thrilling) but I also need to get the maternity pads but not sure what ones to get… does anyone have any recommendations? I’ve been told not to use Normal sanitary towels.
Also do we need to get maternity pads and throw away pants? Old pants? I’ve seen those mesh type pants?

AdventuresAwait · 26/06/2021 02:39

@FTEngineerM, with the GTT, I heard my result within 6 hours of leaving hospital. They said I would be contacted the same or next day if positive for GD and if I hadn't heard anything by the end of the following day, it was all fine x
