Do you drink when pregnant?

So personally I don’t. But I know quite a lot of people who have a glass of wine a week.

Basically I’m just interested? Who drinks?

Not a drop.
And I was a big drinker right up until my BFP. I know for certain I conceived in the middle of a pre Christmas drinks 7 day drinks binge. But not a drop as soon as I knew at exactly 4 weeks.

ThatFlamingCandle · 05/06/2021 01:05

Had some gin and tonic once in second trimester

One mouthful made my legs tingle so. I took that as a sign not to drink again!

CricketsBats · 05/06/2021 01:09

Nope. It's a teratogen. No matter how you dress it up, it's poison to the baby. It's only 9 months. I can wait.

lakesummer · 05/06/2021 01:09

No.
And I like a drink.

Opinion4321 · 05/06/2021 05:26

No nothing. I’ve got three children and didn’t touch a drop with any of them

LittleRa · 05/06/2021 05:44

No

Thisyearcandoone · 05/06/2021 05:54

Nope not a drop, but I'm not a big drinker anyway

georgarina · 05/06/2021 08:07

No, not worth it to me. There are no benefits. Besides I'm not the type to enjoy alcohol in that way, it's a celebration thing to me, so if that's not the vibe I wouldn't want it anyway - I wouldn't get anything out of having half a glass with a meal.

HumunaHey · 05/06/2021 08:21

Same. It's no bother to me to go 9 months without drinking.

Desperatelytrying123 · 05/06/2021 09:39

I had one glass by accident - it was supposed to be non alcoholic. Other than that, none.

Moorelewis · 05/06/2021 09:52

No not once.

ArtfulScreamer · 05/06/2021 10:02

I wouldn't have as much as a glass a week but I have had the odd glass here and there.

Trinacham · 05/06/2021 10:31

No. I'm very newly pregnant but decided way before I got pregnant that I wouldn't drink. I would only drink very occasionally before we started trying and it is something I've never felt I needed to do, so is very easy for me to give up completely.

Chelyanne · 05/06/2021 10:55

Once I found out I was pregnant I stopped drinking in my other pregnancies. I would only drink if hubby was home before that, never when I was alone with the kids (he works away a lot).

I went teetotal 3.5 years ago though, one of the best things I've ever done. Hubby doesn't drink either.

TailFeatherz · 05/06/2021 10:59

Any that do won't tell you!

I didn't for the record

TheCheeseBadge · 05/06/2021 11:03

I had 2 alcoholic drinks in my first pregnancy - both around a big birthday. One was half a glass of prosecco and one was a can of pre-made Pimms. I was about 20 weeks and they were on separate days a few weeks apart. I drank them so slowly I wouldn't have even been over the limit for driving at any point, and I was comfortable with the risk level.

After baby was born I had a few drinks on the odd occasion and realised I hated it, and have been pretty much tee total since.

Thefaceofboe · 05/06/2021 11:36

I haven’t so far at 22 weeks, my friend suggested I have a small glass of Prosecco at a bbq last weekend but I said no as I knew it would be on my conscience Grin I think once a week is a bit much, but I wouldn’t see a problem with a glass when going out for a meal etc.

Ughmaybenot · 05/06/2021 11:38

Not drinking at all and altho I am only halfway, I can’t see it changing. There’s just not any benefits and obviously there are risks, ones I’m not willing to take.
I try not to judge if someone has a drink here and there but it isn’t something I will do.

Spanglebangle · 05/06/2021 11:41

One on my birthday and one at Christmas. Both were in third trimester.

Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 05/06/2021 11:42

No, not with any of them. Even when I was 18 and still going out with all my friends who were getting rat arsed 🤣. I eventually stopped going out though, because its really boring watching everyone else get drunk.
A couple is fine, but I was so ill with all of mine, the smell of alcohol gave me the boak. I also used to be a smoker but had no problem not smoking while pregnant with the first 2, again probably because I was so ill.

It's very personal isn't it! For me once a week might be a bit much for my comfort, but I will have a small glass of champagne at special occasions. Such as some weddings I have coming up

espressoontap · 05/06/2021 11:51

I had one or two glasses of Prosecco throughout my pregnancy with DS at weddings.

DD I didn't have a drop, just didn't fancy it.

SillyBry · 05/06/2021 11:53

I had a glass of champagne at around 25 weeks with my first. But I sipped it through the course of a wedding meal (ie. hours on end) and felt too guilty to enjoy it, so gave it to my husband after I’d sipped it for the toasts!!

I’m not a big drinker anyway, so I don’t really miss it. The only thing I miss is in this lovely sunny weather. A nice glass of white wine or a cold cider... sunshine makes me want alcohol... but I don’t want it enough to consider drinking it, if that makes sense 🤷🏻‍♀️🤣

SmidgenofaPigeon · 05/06/2021 12:12

Yes, I’m 25 weeks and will have the odd glass of wine if I fancy it. Drank slowly and with a meal. Going to our lovely local Italian tonight and yes I will have a glass of red.

Wanttocry · 05/06/2021 12:15

I had a very small glass of champagne when I got married at about 30 weeks pregnant. Other than that, no.
