How big was your baby actually vs predicted size?

I know fundal height charts/growth scans aren't known to be very accurate but I was just wondering how right/wrong they were for people.

39+2 and due to be induced next week on my due date (if baby doesn't come before then) Not had any growth scans but baby has had steady growth (was on 50th line but now in-between 50th and 90th) according to fundal height. Chart is predicting he will be around 4kg (8lb 13) but my bump is really small so I am dubious 🤣

Dd1 they said around 4lb induced due to slow growth 3 days later and she was 6lb 7 so far out.

Dd2 they said 7lb2, induced again 4 days later Coz she was over due and she was 7lb3 so that one was accurate

ladygindiva · 03/06/2021 14:46

my twins were predicted from regular growth scans; twin 1 approx 4.5lb and twin2 approx 7lb but they were 6lb 2 and 6lb 9, so closish with one but pretty far out with the other to my relief.

Emimummy · 03/06/2021 14:47

Had an extra scan and was told yep definitely on 50th centile completely average size. Ending up having a forcep delivery because my baby was actually over 10 pounds so got stuck.

Gemmaemilyx · 03/06/2021 14:47

Predicated weight was hed be at LEAST 10lb... 2 days late and was 7.11 haha!! X

Quail15 · 03/06/2021 14:51

DD was predicted to be around 8lbs - I was induced at 39 weeks due to complications and she was 9lbs 12. I didn't have a big bump.

I was again induced at 39 weeks with my Ds due to him being 'large for dates'. He was predicted to be 10lbs - he was 9lbs 3.

YumLemonCheesecake · 03/06/2021 14:54

The midwives were guessing, big 6lb - small 7lb-er moments before emergency c-section.... baby was 8lb 8oz with head over the centime chart!
I am only 5ft2 and small build and DH isn't very big either, we were both small babies. I am currently only 15 weeks pregnant and I already look at least 6 months pregnant so I'm guessing I have another big one on the way!

Thesearmsofmine · 03/06/2021 14:55

Ds3 was predicted to be around 10lb, he was 8 days late and 8lb 9.

MindyStClaire · 03/06/2021 15:00

I'd trust a scan more than fundal height.

I was scanned the day I was induced, estimate was 10lbs. She was born at 9lb 7oz, so within about 5%.

StevieNix · 03/06/2021 15:04

Ds was estimated to be just over 6lbs (which they said was small) at a growth scan at 40 weeks. I was due to be induced 3 days after the scan as they were concerned with his size, but started Labour naturally. He was 7lbs 7oz!
My husband is 6'7 and I'm small-boned and short but overweight, so I don't know if they were basing there judgement on our size? but we were both small babies (5lbs) so we were confused as to why they said 6lbs was small- to us it sounded normal.

yellowstoneranch · 03/06/2021 15:05

I was scanned by consultant day before DS arrived, they predicted 8.5lb, he was 6lb 4!

Anon9990 · 03/06/2021 15:05

Predicted 8lb 14oz, 8lb 4oz

AnneLovesGilbert · 03/06/2021 15:07

Predicted 8lb8oz, 4 days late and she was 7lb2oz.

RuthTopp · 03/06/2021 15:07

Went 10 days over , was told to expect a big baby - 7lb 12oz .

CuriousandReady · 03/06/2021 15:09

Predicted 9lb and was 7lb 4 at 39 weeks

bigbeatmanifesto · 03/06/2021 15:09

First baby predicted 8 to 8-1/2 pound he was 9.10 pound.
Second baby predicted 9.5 pound he was 8.3 pound.
Current baby predicted upto now 4.10, I guess we will see she's not due for another 3 weeks.
Very varying sizes all have been monitored with growth scans throughout.

FJ459 · 03/06/2021 15:10

I had a scan at 37+5 to diagnose polyhydramnios and was told baby was 8lb13oz so would be over 10lb at due date and was booked for induction at 40w!
Ended up needed an elective section due to the polyhydramnios at 40 weeks on the dot and he was only 8lb8oz HmmGrin

Mmr224 · 03/06/2021 15:11

I was predicted 7, 5, she was 7,7.5 so pretty close.

Bear2014 · 03/06/2021 15:16

The scans can be 20% out, which I find baffling as they are so advanced now. DS was predicted to be 9lb3 at 40 weeks and was actually 11lb1 at 39 weeks.

Worriesome · 03/06/2021 16:23

I had a midwife tell me I’m having an 8 pounder and baby was only 5.12lbs

Chanel05 · 03/06/2021 16:27

Predicted at 7lb 7oz and was born at 40+2 at 7lb 11oz

Needingsupportplease · 03/06/2021 16:28

Predicted 6.8 actually 8.6 4 days over due!

Chelyanne · 03/06/2021 16:39

Never been given estimated birth weights for any of ours.
They did give me an estimated current weight for our twins at 32+5wk, 5lb each at the scan. They were born bang on 38wk weighing 8lb 5oz & 8lb 11oz. I was only 2oz out with my predictions of their birth weights too. We've had singletons at 7lb 7oz (39+6), 10lb 12oz (40+5) & 9lb 10oz (40+2). I have growth scan booked for this baby just before 32wk so will see how big she is compared to the others.

im2sad · 03/06/2021 16:43

Predicted 8.6 on scan day before she was born. She was 8.12 - my bump measured weeks behind.

Lockdownlifting12344555 · 03/06/2021 16:47

Growth scans throughout both my pregnancies, 2nd~9th centile,DS prediction no more than 6lb. He was bang on 6lb (6 years ago so not as advanced).
DD was 5lb 9 a week before I had her…. She was born 5lb 10 so spot on.

In 2nd pregnancy the predicted weight and my chart was based on first pregnancy, my weight height etc so many factors Tom create the chart.

Londonmummy66 · 03/06/2021 16:48

DD2 hospital said she was about 9lbs and they would leave her another couple of weeks. She was actually 7lbs. I was concerned as I knew the dates they were using were wrong as I knew to within 30 minutes when she had to be conceived. At that point she was already 2 weeks over
