@GWhiteley scan buddies! That’s good! Mines at 1:30… I just want it to be here now! I think we’re due the same day too aren’t we? September 3rd… all that could be out the window now with GD! 🤦🏻‍♀️

Definitely one day at a time, it’s the best and only thing we can do isn’t it.

@Kirky658 I’ve had to buy all new and the smallest I’ve got is up to one month. I’ve heard they just grow out of new born so so quick! I guess if I end up having him a little early then someone can do an emergency shop for me and get a few smaller ones to keep me going 😊

CherLW · 19/06/2021 09:23

@KHR1 regarding hospital bag… I’m hoping to finalise some sort of list and have it packed by early august. I’m due early September but with GD who knows.
There are just so many lists about that suggest things and it seems very overwhelming!
Hospital bag sounds like a nice neat hold-all or something but I feel like I’ll need a full size case!!

Scotti84 · 19/06/2021 09:29

Anybody having stomach aches? Im not sure if its just because everything is stretching, or if its wind or if i need to go to the loo. Doesnt hurt as such but is deffo uncomfortable, a bit period painy but cant really put my finger on what it might be.

Kirky658 · 19/06/2021 10:28

@scotti84 I've just said to DH this morning funnily enough that I've been having like achy crampy belly pains in my bump the last few days. Perhaps it is growing again! I feel huge already, not sure I will cope with getting a lot bigger!

GWhiteley · 19/06/2021 11:35

@CherLW mines at 3.20 so it's going to be a looong day! Yes we're date buddies as well.
I really don't want to have the baby any earlier than the 3rd if I can help it...got this weird thing about baby being one of the youngest in her year if she comes earlier than due date. Stupid really

AdventuresAwait · 19/06/2021 12:37

@GWhiteley, we feel exactly the same about dates! I have been told I'll need to have baby early but I'm hoping for after 1st Sep.

GWhiteley · 19/06/2021 12:43

@AdventuresAwait I'm so glad I'm not the only one! Unless she starts to arrive naturally early then I'll do everything I can to have her after the 1st. My husband thinks I'm a bit demented over it, but I was one of the oldest in my year & I really do think it makes a difference

Kirky658 · 19/06/2021 13:02

Got my GTT appt through at last, it's wednesday at 0910, so have to sit there all alone on my own as no one will be able to come with me 🙄

SillyBry · 19/06/2021 13:04

I was determined not to have an august baby... mainly because hubby, hubby’s brother, sister in law, nephew and 2 cousins all have august birthdays... 🤦🏼‍♀️🤣
Plus, I thought that being the eldest in the year was an advantage... but as a friend of mine with a September baby said, when last years intake went up to school, her daughter was as ready as they were, but had another year in nursery! And all those extra months to pay for! 🤣
But yes, as a 7th September due date, I would like to hang on past the end of august!

AdventuresAwait · 19/06/2021 13:26

@GWhiteley and @SillyBry, that's exactly how I feel. I'd rather have a c-section than their proposed induction but for either, I'll be pushing for 1st at the earliest! Obviously it's not the end of the world but definitely our preference x

@Kirky658, I found that the time actually passed really quickly. Just took a book and suddenly she was calling me back in for the second blood test! Plus there were others there to chat to.

GWhiteley · 19/06/2021 13:31

I found the time went quite fast too, read my book & sipped chilled water...it was bliss. There were other people there, mostly couples where the mum to be was coming in for their jab

CherLW · 19/06/2021 13:45

@Kirky658 in a weird way I found the 2 hour wait quite relaxing… nothing to do and I had a book, definitely went quicker than I expected. Hope it all goes ok for you, we’re all here to help if you get any worry x

@GWhiteley @AdventuresAwait oh you’re definitely not the only ones… I’m going a bit crazy how I want him to stay in until at least the 1st September… been having thoughts of him being born close to midnight and things. I really want him to be the older year if I have any choice.. (I get safety etc always comes first) but if I can it will always be September 🤞🏼🤞🏼

Noodles4Me · 19/06/2021 14:33

There's nothing wrong with an August baby!!

I'm seeing consultant on 30th to get a date for the ELCS and it will deffo be in August.

3 of our close neighbours had their babies last week and this week - all boys. There'll be four boys in 5 houses round here, all same age! Carnage!

Kirky658 · 19/06/2021 15:00

Thanks all, good tips for the test! Kindle time me thinks.

It's funny because I actually would love it if ours came in August because DH is a teacher so we'd have more time off together when she's born lol x

AdventuresAwait · 19/06/2021 15:12

That's true @Kirky658! We're both teachers so I understand that perspective too.

@Noodles4Me - No, nothing wrong with August of course! Just different reasons for wanting different times. And also, baby will come when baby needs to come!

SillyBry · 19/06/2021 15:25

No there is nothing wrong with an august baby... as I say, my husband and half his family are august babies! That’s the main reason I wanted to avoid an august baby - it’s an expensive time of the year! 🤣
He’s a maths teacher and his brother works in a very high level in building internet systems for banks and secure networks. So neither of them were held back from being august babies!

And as I say, you have a whole years less childcare to pay at nursery 🤣🤣

bewitchingnight · 19/06/2021 17:52

I thought about September vs august and then realised about one year less childcare so now I think positives either way!

I also found the two hour wait went really quickly, take a little fan if you've got one though because it was horrendously hot!

For those talking about stomach aches, I'm getting a pain a bit like a stitch (but not a stitch) when walking, I don't know if maybe I should get a belly band or similar?

Squibble84 · 19/06/2021 19:11

As a teacher, I’d like a September baby but I’m trying to be philosophical about it and think the baby will come when they come, and they’ll be fine whichever! It is a weird time of year though as it’s the only month where a week early or late can make a difference to whom their classmates and friends will be for the next 18 years!

Been trying to catch up as I’ve missed a fair bit on here, sorry to all those who’ve got GD but it sounds like you’ve got a good little support network going on! Xx

unicornpower · 19/06/2021 19:29

I've been getting some aches in my tummy today and almost like my skin is stretching so my bump must be growing a bit! I also feel completely wiped out today, my limbs feel heavy and I just want to nap at any point Hmm

KHR1 · 20/06/2021 11:54

I've had some period pain like aches in my stomach over the last few days. Had a really bad bout of braxton hicks the other night too, made me sick it was so uncomfortable.

My DD is an end of August baby, 26th. Think there are pluses and minuses to both September/August. As a teacher a holiday baby is handy as I'll never be working on their birthday and it's a year less of nursery fees, but September babies have had a whole extra year of learning before school which is great.

FTEngineerM · 20/06/2021 13:35

@Squibble84 @KHR1 do you notice the difference in a sept/august born baby in school? I know there’s not much I can do about it but I’m interested I suppose.

Been thinking about mat leave again today; I’m so uncomfortable, my stomach feels huge and I think he’s sticking his back into my ribs because it feels huge round and hard. I was thinking of going earlier now I just don’t know if I can do it until sept if I feel like this now.

Sorry to hear about the added worry of you ladies with GD, did you feel or notice any difference before finding out or was it complete surprise? I’ve got mine Tuesday and I’m starting to worry (obvz, as if we ever stop).

bewitchingnight · 20/06/2021 15:17

No symptoms here @FTEngineerM felt fine (by pregnancy standards anyway!) and still do. Try not to worry, you literally can't have done anything to get it and if you do have it you'll be able to deal with it x

Squibble84 · 20/06/2021 16:10

@FTEngineerM I don’t know how much of a difference it makes in the long run as kids tend to catch up over time and I’ve taught some extremely bright summer babies and not so bright Autumn babies!

The main thing for me is that even though I’m a teacher, I disagree with how academically focused school is from such a young age and I’d quite like them to have an extra year of play based learning before formal school starts. Although a year less of nursery fees would also be nice! 😅

Bubbles1st · 20/06/2021 16:55

@FTEngineerM I want to say I had no
Symptoms however, since I've changed my eating I think ive had more energy and been less thirsty. Lethargic and thirsty are symptoms.
Interestingly I have also had nearly no heartburn since ditching the excess sugar

Kirky658 · 20/06/2021 17:32

@bubbles1st i would give anything to be rid of heartburn, bananas really seem to trigger me! It's driving me mad
