@CherLW, I still haven't got a date for the diabetic clinic!

@GWhiteley, I understand the frustration. I've completely changed my diet and my blood results do not correspond to what I've eaten. I was told it is literally what's happening on the inside and, of course, diet helps but sometimes it's out of our control. Some of mine are low but then I get a high. Already on the max dose of metformin so guessing I'll be on injections and am worried about that and of I can do it.
But I've got to do, what I've got to do.
They said its related to hormones and I've already been told my body has reacted strongly to the relaxin hormone so maybe it does to others too. Hoping things improve for you.

Just had my 28 week appointment. 28 week bloods all good and all other checks are good so at least that's something! Baby's heartbeat strong and good. So got to hold onto the positives!

CherLW · 18/06/2021 12:33

@SillyBry that’s a good shout! Oats, yogurt and sown fruit for breakfast… I’ll try that next week for work and see how that works with the sugars!

We all need a GD group or something so we can chat about things..

bewitchingnight · 18/06/2021 12:58

@GWhiteley you could try fruit and yogurt first thing and then something like oatcakes and peanut butter after you've done your blood sugars? It's worked for me but everyone will be different I suppose!

Bubbles1st · 18/06/2021 13:08

@GWhiteley unfortunately I can't tolerate any kind of carb product for breakfast. Which I miss terribly as toast is so convenient!

My go to is currently fruit and yogurt with pumpkin seeds, then a snack mid morning. I did have a really filling omelette with bacon and cheese, but eggs first thing did not agree with me despite a good reading and Very filling.

I tend to just reach for cheese and cooked meats for lunch maybe with a thin bread slice or oat cake. It is difficult.

I had my first shot of insulin last night and my highest fasting readings so far this morning and post breakfast was to high too! No idea what that means but have an appointment Monday so going to see what happens over the weekend. I see an increase in dose coming which the midwife said would happen as it will adjust all the way through.

Yes we do need a GD group @CherLW!

How are you finding taking the insulin @Bubbles1st?

Bubbles1st · 18/06/2021 13:23

@AdventuresAwait it was literally first dose last night but it's honestly fine and doesn't hurt like the finger pricks.

@AdventuresAwait and other GD ladies… shall we do another thread on here for GD? Or is everyone happy on here? Just thinking of all those other ladies without it xx
@AdventuresAwait and other GD ladies… shall we do another thread on here for GD? Or is everyone happy on here? Just thinking of all those other ladies without it xx
@CherLW I'm quite happy seeing all your updates 😊 my test isn't until 05 July but making lots of mental notes from all your chat in case it comes back that I do have GD.

AdventuresAwait · 18/06/2021 14:20

@Bubbles1st, that's good to know as I'm just not sure I could do it but the nurse assures me it's fine.

Funny but my results are all good today. So either the increased tablet dose is working or it is that I've been on my feet more as being active after meals is supposed to help. Or coincidence, who knows!

Finishing work next week (home based) so hoping to walk and swim more after that.

I'm happy to join a separate thread as I feel I have lots of questions or comments specific to GD and don't want it to take over this one...

@MrsTD88 you could join us 😊

CherLW · 18/06/2021 14:29

@AdventuresAwait I’ll start another thread and then we could post it in here for all those who want to join too x

AdventuresAwait · 18/06/2021 14:30

Sounds great @CherLW xx

SillyBry · 18/06/2021 14:33

I had my 28 week blood test today and I'm hopeful (in the nicest possible sense!!) that I won't be joining you on the GD thread... fingers crossed!!

bewitchingnight · 18/06/2021 14:36

I hope so too @SillyBry it's a right pain! Fingers crossed for everyone else. I read yesterday that it's something like 3-5% have GD which you wouldn't get that impression based on us unlucky ones so far.

Sounds good for the new thread @CherLW @AdventuresAwait there's loads to talk about!

Taybz · 18/06/2021 14:38

@Kat1112025 thank you for the helpful link. Much appreciated!

Good luck with your GD ladies, can't imagine how bloody tough it must be. You've got this though!

GWhiteley · 18/06/2021 14:40

@CherLW I think a new thread just for gd is perhaps a good idea as then we won't feel like we're monopolising the chat! Count me in please 😀

CherLW · 18/06/2021 14:40

@AdventuresAwait @GWhiteley @Bubbles1st @bewitchingnight I have created a group but I don’t know how to share the link 🙈 I guess it should be near the top of the pregnancy feed called ‘The GD thread for the GD ladies’ if anyone can find it and can share the link on here that would be ideal… x

AdventuresAwait · 18/06/2021 15:05

@bewitchingnight, the diabetic nurse gave me a booklet about GD and that says it's 16% of women who get it. So much different information! But I was still surprised to see there were a few of us on the thread who have it.

Bubbles1st · 18/06/2021 15:30

Is anyone else's nursery nearly ready or ready. I'm so excited but also super nervous. I feel like I've peaked to soon and terrified of heart ache. I know that's no way to feel but I still can't help but this it's all too good to be true. 28 week growth scan Monday and can feels it's going to be a long weekend.

OP posts:
AdventuresAwait · 18/06/2021 16:01

Our trust isn't doing 28 week growth scans due to covid so I have to wait until 32 weeks! I hope the weekend passes quickly for you @Bubbles1st & that all goes well on Monday x

MrsTD88 · 18/06/2021 17:18

@AdventuresAwait yes please! Would be good to have all of your advice and support to hand just in case. I'll follow the thread.

@Bubbles1st I feel so under prepared even though we have pretty much everything for the nursery but need to decorate first and swap rooms about. Such a stress just want it done now but our daughter turns 5 next week and is having a party tomorrow so the focus is on birthday celebrations just now and then getting her all organised for starting school! Trying to balance out buying school stuff and baby stuff 🙈🙈

Kirky658 · 18/06/2021 18:11

@bubbles1st our nursery is done bar the cot which I keep forgetting to order. I still need to buy mattress and bedding for the moses basket etc. I have to say I feel the same. I try and tell myself well if anything happens now and she's born, she could survive now! That's all I can do x

SillyBry · 18/06/2021 18:30

@MrsTD88 I know the feeling! I also have to order school uniform! Enjoy the birthday weekend.. I’m sure your daughter is SUPER excited for her birthday!
I got the suitcase of baby clothes down from the attic yesterday only to find that so many things that went away clean seem to have got gross yellow stains appeared on them... I was given bags of hand me downs up to 6 months, so I passed heaps on to a friend, which means I’ve got very little left in 0-3 and 3-6... and what I kept is very much for a summer baby!
But at least I know what I need to buy now!

When it gets to summer holidays, I’ll get hubby to get the crib and the various big bits down from the attic to start building. But I feel very disorganised!

Taybz · 18/06/2021 18:34

Our nursery is no way near ready but I'm calmer now and we've got most things ready and just need to order. Anyone got any recommendations for a cot mattress?

bewitchingnight · 18/06/2021 18:49

Our nursery (spare room really it's still got a spare bed and a wfh desk in it!) is all painted and we have a chest of drawers / changing table type thing so it's pretty much done for now I think as she won't be sleeping there for a while. Very fortunate to be able to borrow a bedside crib type thing from my brother as his youngest will be just growing out of it. Will just buy a new mattress I think, but I don't know what type it is!
