@CherLW you can definitely have sugar free ice pops! Not quite as exciting but still win!

@Bubbles1st sugar free ice pops added to the essentials list 💪🏼

GWhiteley · 14/06/2021 17:22

@FTEngineerM my feet have swollen to a scary size today, only going down at lunchtime when I was sat in the shade for 40 mins with my shoes off in the grass. Then gone back up again. Currently sat with my feet raised & them throbbing when I should be cleaning the bathroom & weeding part of the garden!

Going to speak to h&s to see if they can provide something to lift my feet up under the desk. There's no way I can work form home, my back was so bad I was in agony all the time.

I think that's just a ruse for them to have you at home, people cough in our office all the time, it's natural to clear your throat sometimes!

Sillysocks998 · 14/06/2021 17:34

Hi Ladies,
Massive change of subject. But hope you're all OK. Xxx
I've finally bought something for the baby. I saw some lovely organic cotton rompers at the white company. Expensive but I loved the neutrality and cotton.
Hopefully I should hit the shops at some point. Xx

CobleCloud · 14/06/2021 18:22

Hi ladies, I know this has been spoken about numerous times before but I'm having second thoughts about the Covid vaccine.. I remember a link been posted somewhere about a good webinar to watch- does anyone happen to have the link they could share please! Smile

Kirky658 · 14/06/2021 18:47

@coblecloud I've been umming and ahhing and spoke to my gp last week. Who strongly said I should have it as I'm asthmatic. So mine is on weds! The webinar was Stella Creasey I think, she's an MP down south somewhere who's pregnant.

I've got my GTT appt, next Wednesday! Midwife called me today to say I should have the letter by the time she sees me on Monday. Which makes me think she'd forgotten about it 🤔🤣

CobleCloud · 14/06/2021 19:01

Thank you @Kirky658 yes I'm asthmatic too and have a higher BMI.. with cases going up etc I'm thinking I should have it. My midwife didn't help much and was on the fence saying it's my choice. I've ask for the GP to ring me tomorrow so I can chat through with them. I'll give the webinar a watch too. Thanks again and hope your GTT appt goes ok. Smile

Kirky658 · 14/06/2021 19:27

@coblecloud my midwife was exactly the same but the call with my gp really helped. Good luck lovely x

Squibble84 · 14/06/2021 20:21

@CobleCloud I’ve tried to link it below.

CobleCloud · 14/06/2021 20:43

Thank you @Squibble84 I found it on fb too and now having a watch. Smile

crobo87 · 14/06/2021 20:55

Hi all, just been catching up, been in the office today for the first time this year. Got home about 6 and I'm shattered now 😴😴

Was only for one day so back to home working tomorrow. Really enjoyed being out the house for a day though, I often forget what it's like to see actual people day to day apart from my OH & kids lol

Poppins2016 · 15/06/2021 01:47

For those wanting Covid vaccine info, as well as the webinar led by Stella Creasy (linked to above), check out this information from the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists.

My DS attends nursery (no social distancing with other children), so I decided to have the vaccine after doing some research and talking to my consultant. Took me a while to decide, though... I think it's worth taking your time and making sure you're comfortable with the decision.

GWhiteley · 15/06/2021 08:57

Sooo....didn't hear back about my glucose test so texted my midwife who checked & has advised it's likely I do have pregnancy diabetes. Great! The one thing that I could enjoy during a miserable pregnancy & now it's being taken away from me! Haven't heard officially from the hospital yet so waiting for them to get in touch.
It all seems very complicated about what you can & can't eat, but found a website dedicated to it www.gestationaldiabetes.co.uk for anyone that's interested & they break it down for you.
Thank god I've only got 11 1/2 weeks to go!

Kirky658 · 15/06/2021 09:18

@gwhiteley omg. Nice of them to let you know!!!! Seems a lot of people on here have GD, interesting. I will be very surprised if mine is negative next week tbh x

GWhiteley · 15/06/2021 09:22

@Kirky658 my midwife has emailed them asking to get in touch. Just been reading up on it & im literally going to have to change my whole diet. I don't even know where to begin!

Feel like crying if I'm honest.

Bubbles1st · 15/06/2021 09:27

@GWhiteley it is upsetting and overwhelming but that website will help. Join the FB group too if you are on there.

I've found my appetite completely change now I can't eat what I want or fancy. My DP and I are pretty much eating separate meals now too.

I'm grateful I wasn't diagnosed in the beginning and it's come on later for me.

Once you start testing and can keep an eye on your levels it will feel easier, it's the unknown in the beginning when you're not sure what's going on.

OP posts:
GWhiteley · 15/06/2021 09:42

@Bubbles1st I can feel that happening with me & my hubby if I'm honest. We have a high carbohydrate intake in our diet as we have rice or potatoes with every evening meal. I also have bread every day for sandwiches at lunchtime. Don't even get me started on breakfast 😩

I am going to join the fb group, I'm going to need all the support I can get I think.

Thanks for the kind words x

Noodles4Me · 15/06/2021 11:22

My GTT was negative and my diet is shite - now wondering if they did wrong.

Bubbles1st · 15/06/2021 11:47

@Noodles4Me probably not, it's not actually related to your diet until youve got it, it's about hormones in your placenta and you've probably got ones handling everything well :)

CherLW · 15/06/2021 12:19

Had my appointment with the diabetic midwife this morning… I have to take my sugars before and 2 hours after every meal (so 6 times a day). Keep track of my results and I’ll have a call with someone in 7-10 days to discuss.

She said I have to do then until the baby is born now and I’ll have to stay in hospital at least 24 hours after the birth so they can monitor the baby.

She said it’s good that I’m having my Covid jab for definite now as from 28 weeks it can be worse for pregnant ladies and the now added diabetes also don’t help. So that’s reassured me more regarding the vaccine!

I was just surprised at how quick the appointment was and they give you all this info, blood testing kit, sharps bin etc and a brief demonstration and then off you go!!

I do feel a little calmer now but I’m hoping in a few days I’ll get my head round it a bit more.

AdventuresAwait · 15/06/2021 12:44

@CherLW, glad you had your appointment and that you feel calmer. They didn't mention the diabetes being an additional reason for the covid vaccine at mine so now I'm concerned and will text her to ask. I had decided not to have it...

CherLW · 15/06/2021 12:47

@AdventuresAwait it’s strange how everywhere is different isn’t it! Maybe just call and chat to someone… the lady who I had just said she’s seen some people with diabetes have Covid during pregnancy and would advise people pregnant and diabetic to have it.

I had already decided I would have mine but it’s definitely not an easy decision, you just need to do what’s right for you x

Taybz · 15/06/2021 14:22

@Bubbles1st @D0nut thanks for your suggestions! It's so cute and practical but we've finally found a cot that we're both happy with.

@RaeRae84 After my full blown panic attack, I'm feeling better mentally and taking it day by day.

To those that have been diagnosed with GD, you have my absolute sympathy. We've got diabetes on both sides of the family and I was worried I'd have it too after my test. Does it go away after pregnancy?

Kat1112025 · 15/06/2021 14:28

Is anyone else getting an achy bump?

Mine feels all achy and unsupported when I walk, but the feeling is in my bump not my back, so I'm not sure if those support belts would help (they seem to be aimed at relieving lower back pain).

Not sure if it's round ligament pain, but I think not as it only occurs when I walk around, not when sat or lying down.

CherLW · 15/06/2021 14:41

@GWhiteley that’s terrible that you had to chase them up! Thank you for the link regarding gestational diabetes, I’m going to have a look for sure!

@Taybz it does go away after pregnancy, the midwife I spoke to today said it was like flicking a switch when the baby and placenta are out. Then I think you have a test 6 weeks after birth but could be more likely to get diabetes so you have yearly checks and any future pregnancies you will be tested earlier than 28weeks.

@Kat1112025 I asked the same thing a couple of days ago.. I have the same, like I feel like it aches when I walk and feels tender/bruised at times. It seems to be on and off for me so I’m assuming is things stretching/ babies position etc.
