@leftitlate37 so jealous that you're still running, I stopped after my mau scare and am walking about 6 miles a day now. Just doesn't feel the same! I am aching off today though so planning to take a rest.

SillyBry · 11/06/2021 12:39

@GWhiteley I'm an EA too, so I feel your pain! Thankfully (I think!) my boss is based in the US now, so I at least get mornings before he wakes up! ;-) ;-)
They've been good to me - but it is like spinning plates and herding kittens!!

@leftitlate37 Massive well done on the running - slowly, slowly is the way to go. I've fast realised that it's better not to look at my times and just walk when I need to because if I push myself too hard, I'm sore for days. Taking it easier means I can still walk the next day!
I did 4 miles on Tuesday and went out for 3 miles today. Tuesday felt good. Today was HORRENDOUS! Super muggy. I had to divert to the loos at the park 15 minutes in and I just felt like I had a kettle bell bouncing on my bladder. The only positive was I bumped into a friend's sister who is 25 weeks walking back from the school run and she looked absolutely horrified and amazed all at once to see me bumbling down the pavement towards her. Made me realise I'm quite good for even trying! ;-)

RaeRae84 · 11/06/2021 12:50

@SillyBry you are doing amazingly well keeping it up. I'm definitely going to invest in a band and see if it helps. I'm not worried about pace/walking breaks. I just want to still do something that's part of me. So I will use both of you as inspiration this weekend!

leftitlate37 · 11/06/2021 13:18

Defo worth getting one @RaeRae84, although I havent been wearing mine lately it definitely was useful for walking and trying to run a few weeks back. yeah defo know what u mean about wanting to do some running so u feel like it is you! I barely did anything for about 4 weeks run wise as just couldnt so just taking each week as it comes and this one seems a bonus!
hahaha @SillyBry thats the best analogy - a kettle bell on your bladder! nailed it! thats gr8 u felt good on tues, annoying then today wasnt as good. do u always go in the morning? i never used too, but finding if i want to run it has 2 be morning when havent had any food. by the evening it just wont happen!need to pee constantly! u defo are awesome for trying!!! would love the look of amazement and awe :) its really weird how hard running feels, like i know obvs there is a baby growing in there, but i literally have one gear and could not go faster if mylife depended on it - my strides are really short now and just feel like my hips dont have much movement in them! already looking forward to october when might be able to try again and it feels different!
@Kirky658 good on u for walking that far! youve got a dog right? lucky pooch getting lots of miles! where do u go, have u got nice parks and stuff? dont sweat it on the run front, i really dont blame u - there are more important things and doing any activity is beneficial! do u swim or anything?

SillyBry · 11/06/2021 13:45

@RaeRae84 @leftitlate37 Some support is massively helpful.
I've not used a band this time as my mum bought me an "ultimate support vest" from fitta mama for my birthday, which was extortionate, but does a good job of holding everything in!
A few people recommended a "fit splint" to me - but I've not got one, so couldn't tell you if it's worth the heftier price tag than a cheaper version off Amazon.
I suspect anything is better than nothing!

And man, this morning, I felt like I couldn't lift my legs any higher or faster if my life depended on it... I was genuinely like if someone was chasing me, it would be game over! ;-)
I've been preferring to run off road as I feel like it matters less that I walk and go slowly... when pavement plodding like this morning, I judge myself more for it... not that I should!

Last pregnancy, my running coach described it as chucking another rock in the bum bag every week, which also seemed fairly apt!
I tend to run in the mornings as I need to pee less (not the case today!) and also, if I run in the evening, I come in and sit down and stiffen right up... then my hips feel like an old lady for days!

SP2Bx · 11/06/2021 13:56

You're all super women to me! I walk 5k with the dog every other day or so (DP has really upped his dog walking game lately!) and as soon as I'm home my hips and back are in bits so... fair play! 👏🏼

Kirky658 · 11/06/2021 14:43

@leftitlate37 yep doggo is getting so many walks he doesn't know what's hit him 🤣 I'm trying to at least do hilly walks to get my heart rate up so I get some decent exercise out of it. I'm swimming once a week too which is good xx

RaeRae84 · 11/06/2021 14:56

@leftitlate37 you're doing so well. Especially if you had a bit of a break, that makes me feel a bit more confident I can start again.
I think I need to swap to mornings like you guys but I just struggle to get up early and fit it in before work. No excuse tomorrow though!!
@SillyBry thank you for the suggestions. I've got a boring afternoon at work now (the only bad thing about passing your work to someone else means I'm sooo bored by the afternoon) so I'm going to have a look at it all. If they are a lot of money I will tell the hubby it's needed 😆 he's just ordered a watt bike so I think I'm entitled to something helpful 😊 definitely agree with the rock in the bum bag. Although just a normal work out seems easier- although i guess it's actually tailored for pregnancy so maybe it's not quite the same!

SillyBry · 11/06/2021 15:01

@RaeRae84 I'm feeling ZERO Friday motivation either. I'm literally sat here scouring the internet for distractions. I mean, the house also needs cleaning... but I'm not that desperate yet! ;-)

I think the Watt bike definitely means you can get away with quite a lot of "necessary" purchases in that case!!

RaeRae84 · 11/06/2021 15:15

@SillyBry he keeps saying it's for both of us! I agree with you though, I definitely need some purchases!! I'm just about to look for the vest and fit splint. I hope this keeps me occupied until at least 4.
😆 My office needs sorting too but like you I'm definitely not that desperate!

CherLW · 11/06/2021 20:36

Is anyone having strange aches near the bottom of their bump? It kind of feels bruised… when I stand up it feels tight and I have to straighten up slowly at times.

I have my GTT this morning… the drink was awful but it’s done now. I didn’t see a midwife which I thought I would but have an appointment next week.

Kirky658 · 11/06/2021 20:52

@cherlw yes!!!! My bump feels achy most days now. I think I've just been doing too much x

FTEngineerM · 11/06/2021 20:53

Tightenings are Braxton hicks @CherLW, they’ll get more intense as your jump grows.

I get them all the time at the minute, tired stressed and dehydrated though and those things make it happen more 🙄😬.

Mamabearwhere · 11/06/2021 20:58

Yes!! @CherLW I’ve been having this odd pain on my bump, kinda feels like I’ve hit it somewhere and feels bruised but it’s not and looks ok. Just hurts. I wonder if it’s just the skin/muscle stretching

SillyBry · 11/06/2021 21:01

It’s funny, I don’t remember having any braxton hicks in my first pregnancy. But this time, I get tightenings all the time. My tummy goes like a rock for 10-20 seconds and then goes again!

Mamabearwhere · 11/06/2021 21:01

@FTEngineerM I get braxton hicks multiple times a day now, they’re a different sensation to the “bruise” I feel. The braxton hicks are quite sudden tummy tensing up into a rock hard ball, and usually I feel like I’m about to pee myself (assume baby is pushing on my bladder). I def don’t remember getting them this early last two times. Hopefully it’s not an indicator of having the baby earlier than expected!

CherLW · 11/06/2021 21:14

Thanks ladies @Kirky658 @Mamabearwhere @FTEngineerM for the replies ❤️

I feel like its more of a bruise than anything else… like If I’ve been sat down or laying and get up suddenly it’s tender.
It’s just all along the bottom of the bump… baby is jumping about all the time so hoping he’s ok. I can imagine it’s just all the muscles and ligaments etc stretching out.

I don’t think I’ve had braxton hicks yet.. well nothing obvious if I have. 🤷🏻‍♀️

KHR1 · 11/06/2021 21:17

I've had some pains at the bottom, usually if I stand up too quickly it feels like I've pulled something. Don't think I've had any braxton hicks yet.

Think I'm going to try getting a bump band as I keep getting pelvic pain, does anyone know if they are supposed to help with that? I know they are supposed to be used for standing but most of the pain is after I've been sat down for a while and get up or in bed so don't know if it will be a waste.

Mamabearwhere · 11/06/2021 21:25

Whilst on the topic of pain, anyone have a pain their back side (lol) ? I have this huge pressure like I’m about to do a number 2 and feels so uncomfortable to walk. It comes and goes so not always there

Kirky658 · 11/06/2021 21:26

@cherlw I don't think I've had any braxton hicks either yet. I was reading about them yesterday and apparently it's quite common not to feel them as they are not meant to be painful like the real thing. I think you're right, it's everything getting a bit cramped in there now I reckon. I'm constantly up and down for a wee, feels like she's squashing my bladder sometimes.

@khr1 likewise, I have to be careful to roll out of bed now!

FTEngineerM · 11/06/2021 21:26

That sounds painful @CherLW 🤕 I’m so glad you both said that @SillyBry and @Mamabearwhere I’ve had it so much more this time, lasts ages sometimes too. Midwife was like like ‘meh is it a contraction?!, then dont worry if not’ but I can’t remember it being like this.

Also; return of the sciatica 🤒 tried the exercises with a band and not really helping. Hope this doesn’t last.

SillyBry · 11/06/2021 21:39

@FTEngineerM funny isn’t it? I was walking round asda yesterday and had to stop because everything was suddenly massively tight snd tense. Then it was all good. I’m like I know my first child was a while ago, but I genuinely don’t think I ever had anything like it!! Funny how the pregnancy can feel different!

@Mamabearwhere I get quite a lot of pain in my bum or right in my groin... just feels like I would feel better if I had a poo, but I never need one! 🤣

@Kirky658 I think I’ve hit a new record tonight. Feel like I’ve wee’d about every 30 minutes this evening 🤦🏼‍♀️🤣🤣

SP2Bx · 12/06/2021 07:57

@FTEngineerM Good advice from your midwife 😂 I don't think I've had braxton hicks yet, but the other day baby must have been right at the front cause bump felt soooo stretched and tight it was not the most comfortable but lasted ages!

Then this morning @CherLW I woke up with similar to what you described, all lower bump was really painful like I couldn't even sit up to get out of bed I sort of had to roll, but I knew going for a wee would make it feel better (even though I didn't feel busting) which it did!

Ah the joys!

AdventuresAwait · 12/06/2021 08:07

Yes @CherLW, I've also had those bruised feelings across the bottom of my bump. I guessed it was the stretching but am not sure.

CherLW · 12/06/2021 08:30

@AdventuresAwait @Kirky658 @SP2Bx I’m seeing the midwife Wednesday so I’ll chat to her about it then. Pretty sure it’s probably just everything stretching and the baby getting bigger pushing everything out the way.

I need a wee sooo much a lot of the time!

I was looking at the maternity support bands instead of a belt to hopefully help the uncomfortable feeling. I’m not sure I want to add another layer tho as it’s getting warmer!
