@mamabearwhere mood swings here are vile. Work is definitely causing me a lot of stress at the moment and I'm stressing again about not knowing anything and being underprepared which doesnt help. I could cry or get angry at the drop of a hat.

Noodles4Me · 10/06/2021 08:27

My moods have been fine but they've never been affected by hormones really thankfully, plus I'm on Sertraline for my anxiety so that probably helps!

I don't weigh myself, I don't think it is healthy mentally. I do know my boobs now weigh 2kg - yes, I weighed my boobs! So they will account for a lot! Shock

SP2Bx · 10/06/2021 09:38

How does one go about weighing their boobs @Noodles4Me ?? Asking for a friend 😂 (the friend is me... it's always intrigued me!)

Noodles4Me · 10/06/2021 10:19

@SP2Bx I've got this small round digital scale (essentially for baking!) so used that! Grin

Newmum110 · 10/06/2021 11:23

@SP2Bx you put them in a container full of water (one at a time :-)) and measure the overspill!!!!

Bubbles1st · 10/06/2021 11:23

Anyone else trying to nest but so indecisive so not actually doing anything 😭

SillyBry · 10/06/2021 11:27

@Noodles4Me I don't know if you ever watched the sitcom Green Wing? There is a girl who weighs her boobs on the postage scales in the office... I'm absolutely cracking up at the image of you doing that right now!!!!

I think my boobs must weigh a tonne right now... they are huge and seem to be weighing me down!!

I desperately need to buy some nicer maternity bras, but I'm trying to hold out til I'm 32 weeks or more to get a better idea of size.

Mood swings aren't too bad here, but I cry at most TV programmes at the moment!

bewitchingnight · 10/06/2021 11:56

Had my glucose test yesterday and just got a call about going in to see the dietician this afternoon, I feel a bit upset!

Kat1112025 · 10/06/2021 12:30

@bewitchingnight oh no that sucks!
I had mine this morning too, not heard back yet.
It's good they've got back to you so soon, trying to see the positives 💐

Bubbles1st · 10/06/2021 13:12

@bewitchingnight sorry to hear but you are in good company. I'm pleased you got quickly seen though, my test was last Wednesday, midwife mentioned results at normal appointment Thursday and I don't have an appointment to pick up blood monitoring kit until tomorrow, so feel like I've been thrown in at the Deep end in regards to taking responsibility for myself.

Few of of us have now been diagnosed so we can support each other through it. X

haha @FTEngineerM are u and me competing for the nutella eating contest! i LOVE IT! had banana and nutella on crumpets for brek today!! @RaeRae84 same as u - i have no desire to be stepping on scales! Looked at booking appt and will defo be averting my eyes if anyone does want to weigh me. bad enough with clothes that dont fit, i dont wanna know what the actual damage is. ive got vest stops that used to be baggy and are now close fitting, and struggling to find anything that fits for work without hitting the shops!
i havent worn my rings for a while as my fingers always get puffy in the heat but think worse now and dont want them stuck on, i'd proper panic!
Been chuckling at the thought of u lot weighing boobs! Mine have grown but still not at a size where i could put them on some scales haha - lets see what the last 12 weeks hold!!
cant believe 28w appt next week, where is the time going?! hope eveyrone coping in the heat...swollen and puffy limbs aside....

SillyBry · 10/06/2021 13:32

@leftitlate37 I was wearing a big thick jumper and boots when they weighed me at my booking appointment... I was like "wait, please let me take some clothes off first...!!!" Then I remembered that I was only going to get heavier, so just climbed on the scales and accepted it!
It's just so disappointing as I had FINALLY shed the stone I was too lazy to lose after my daughter and was at my slimmest when I fell pregnant and I didn't even get to enjoy it... literally, weighed myself at 10 stone 5, thought that was incredible and exciting that I'd finally hit my milestone and then had a positive pregnancy test. D'oh!!

FTEngineerM · 10/06/2021 13:50

Yes I love a good move around/clean/decorate @Bubbles1st we’re going through the house again because I’ve got a decorating it’s i want to scratch😂. DP was like noooo not again and I reminded him IM MAKING A HUMAN, so easy you can do is move the fucking armchair.

RaeRae84 · 10/06/2021 13:57

@leftitlate37 totally understand the clothes! I think it's all out of my wardrobe now though so I don't cry about that anymore. I don't really want to buy anymore maternity clothes though so hoping what I have left will just about see me through. Thankfully I finish work 3 weeks tomorrow so looking forward to wearing joggers or PJ's if I can't fit in anything else 😂 I do have a wedding in August which I'm slightly dreading. Going to look like a beast.
@SillyBry you always have the best comments 😂 I did the same at my first weigh in! At least you know you did lose it so you can do it again. Definitely frustrating though!! After my MC last year I thought I need to get back in my pre lockdown shape, just started to get going again and new year brings me a baby! I'm the same as you though, whatever will be and do something about it afterwards!

AdventuresAwait · 10/06/2021 14:43

@bewitchingnight, I had that at the weekend. Was given a testing kit. Had to submit the results today and have just had a call to say I need to start the medication (tablets) this evening as some of my readings are slightly high. Bit disappointed but both the diabetic nurse and the dietitian said it is all linked to hormones and that many women don't have problems in pregnancy due to it & blood sugar levels usually return to normal after baby is born. Hoping the tablets and diet change will manage it xx

bluemagicalsky · 10/06/2021 15:31

Anyone else considering or had a home birth? Started hypnobirthing classes and I can really see the benefits but it's such a big decision to make, especially for first baby.

FTEngineerM · 10/06/2021 16:21

How far are you from hospital @bluemagicalsky?

Kirky658 · 10/06/2021 16:31

@bluemagicalsky I'd have loved a home birth but we live, on a good day, 25 mins from the hospital. Also I wouldn't trust my midwife as I'm not too keen on her, lol. Give me all the drugs!!! Also I've got to be on IV antibiotics for my strep b during labour so would need to be somewhere medical. X

bluemagicalsky · 10/06/2021 17:12

@FTEngineerM 15/20 minutes, give or take
@Kirky658 ah of course, that makes sense

FTEngineerM · 10/06/2021 17:33

You’ll get at least one midwife with you, maybe two. I’d not set anything in stone in your mind though because there isn’t a way of predicting how it’ll go and the last thing you’ll probably want is being worried about the ‘unknown’ when relaxing is key so I’d just say have a read about everything. MLU/Labour ward/home birth and what happens at each, your midwife will explain too, they did with me with DS1.

It’s good your close, the midwives check the heartbeat every 15 minutes along with other checks if you agree of course, when you’re at home/in the MLU.

Me personally; god I thought contractions felt like someone ripping my uterus out 🤒. I’ve already told them I’m going to along side MLU(across hall from labour ward for when I inevitably want an épi).

bluemagicalsky · 10/06/2021 17:49

Great advice. Thanks @FTEngineerM So undecided so agree that's it's probably best to prepare for all eventualities.
Ouch! That's a description I've not heard before 😂 x

Sceptre86 · 10/06/2021 18:45

I had my 28 week appointment today. I got to listen to the heartbeat today and the midwife started doing my fundal measurements. I had my gtt test too and will hopefully get the results tomorrow.
@bewitchingnight I can appreciate its upsetting but at least you got the results back quickly and can now start on medication to keep your blood sugars under control. After posters have been diagnosed now so lots of support available on here. x

I also had a scan to check whether my placenta had moved up and it has thankfully! There was concern that because my two children were born via section it might not move. I know a few of us on here had low lying placentas has anyone else had a scan to see if it has moved up yet?

Maybebaby29 · 10/06/2021 19:12

@Sceptre86 Hi!
I’ve not been on for ages now just thought I’d have a catch up on the thread! I also had a low lying placenta which was completely covering my cervix. I went for my follow up scan on Tuesday because like you, I’ve had 2 previous c sections so they were worried it had started growing into my uterine wall. Luckily it hasn’t started growing into there but it also hasn’t moved it’s still covering my cervix! They said if it hasn’t moved they normally will schedule me in for a section between 36-37 weeks! So an august baby. They aren’t confident that it will move completely from my cervix. At the minute they said there’s a small gap between my placenta and bladder they can cut through so get him out, that’s if it doesn’t move anywhere, but also they said they’ll measure my cervix at my 32 week scan and if it’s measuring short they’ll deliver him earlier so I don’t go into labour on my own.
It’s my last day at work tomorrow! They are signing me off sick until my maternity starts on the 30th of august.
Talking of baby weight, I’ve put 4lb on! Looks like a lot more tho!
A bit gross but I randomly squeezed my boob this morning & colostrum came out! Anyone else had that?

bewitchingnight · 10/06/2021 19:35

Thanks everyone for being kind, I feel a bit less emotional about it. Got my monitor and some diet info so we'll see how it goes. It's a bit overwhelming at the moment!

@Bubbles1st do you have an appointment booked? It must feel isolating to find out and not have the support straightaway.

@AdventuresAwait ah sorry to hear that, but as long as you and the baby are healthy I suppose it doesn't matter how you get there x

AdventuresAwait · 10/06/2021 19:43

@bewitchingnight, I just wanted to say that I was emotional about it at my appointment on Monday. It is overwhelming. I think it's partly the unknown for me as I was also nervous about doing the testing myself but finding it fine. And they were so supportive and reassuring. So just saying I empathise with the emotions. I felt the same and think it's a natural reaction. I felt a bit guilty too until they explained how it is in pregnancy. Now I'm determined to manage things the best I can.

Like @Bubbles1st said which encouraged me.. . we got this!
