I'm not having heaps of discharge... but I'm definitely in the sweaty pants brigade now.
I mean, it's just all so bloody glamorous isn't it?!

SP2Bx · 02/06/2021 22:27

I'm very dischargey at the moment, almost posted about it myself the other day - it's great we have each other to share these things with 😅 but it's mostly as I wipe, pants aren't getting noticeably "wet" per se, just end up with more marks in them than usual! 🙄

MrsTD88 · 02/06/2021 22:28

@unicornpower thank you! I thought it was later down the line. It seems to be happening so early this time round for me too @KHR1

Having to wear panty liners here too!

SillyBry · 02/06/2021 22:39

I feel like everything is happening earlier the second time around 🤦🏼‍♀️🤣
So my weirdest/grossest thing that I only really noticed last week... my labia are puffy/swollen and then I noticed they actually look a bit of a purpley colour as I was hopping around the shower trying to inspect myself down there with a bump in the way. (Looking great I must say... 🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️🤣)
A quick google says that’s normal. But WTF! Baby growing just destroys us ladies 🤣🤣

Mamabearwhere · 02/06/2021 23:05

Hi ladies. Hope you’re all doing well. Is anyone else suffering with leg pains? I get the very odd pains from knee up my thighs, difficult to explain but they’re almost like a cramp / sore muscles. They’re really painful and especially in evening when I’m trying to sleep. Never had this with previous pregnancies so finding it difficult to deal with. Seeing my midwife tomorrow for my check up so will mention it but thought I’d ask here too.

Taybz · 02/06/2021 23:20

Another dischargy lady here and been wearing pantyliners for weeks😅 pretty sure I have thrush again for the umpteenth time and GP is being pretty useless. Is anyone else also a bit sore down there?

I can't believe there's not that much longer to go now!!

unicornpower · 03/06/2021 09:16

I'm super duper dischargey too! I have also been wearing liners most days too-So glamorous isn't it haha

So we bought Ewan the sheep and have been playing him through my stomach and baby LOVES it. She starts moving and can feel her nudging and kicking me (she could hate it and its a protest but I'm going with love).

AdventuresAwait · 03/06/2021 11:18

I'm with you @SillyBry! I've noticed puffiness/swollen labia too recently and my sister reassured me she had the same in her pregnancies.

@unicornpower, I have been wondering whether to buy a Ewan the Sheep! Maybe I will now! How lovely that your baby responds to it xx

Taybz · 03/06/2021 15:25

Is anyone planning to shield from 28 weeks? I ask because my midwife asked me this and personally I thought shielding was over based on government guidelines. I haven't found any further updates on this however my midwife suggested that I speak to HR. I'm in the education sector.

D0nut · 03/06/2021 15:39

Hi @Taybz I haven’t heard of this either until you mentioned it. I just found this www.gov.uk/government/publications/coronavirus-covid-19-advice-for-pregnant-employees/coronavirus-covid-19-advice-for-pregnant-employees
Seems very vague though.

bewitchingnight · 03/06/2021 16:26

I'm going to be cautious from 28 weeks but shielding seems unrealistic and tbh I want to see my family!

Am thinking the last couple of weeks before my due date I'll not be going anywhere just in case. Mainly because I worry that my husband will Sod's law pick it up somewhere and I'd have to give birth in my own!

bewitchingnight · 03/06/2021 16:27

Oh workwise I've been told to work from home from 28 weeks following that government guidance. Work in retail so can't socially distance from anyone. That's different from shielding though I think?

Taybz · 03/06/2021 16:38

@D0nut yes that the one I've read and I also find it vague.

@bewitchingnight I think that's perhaps what she may have meant rather than shielding. Will you be on suspended leave with pay from 28 weeks then since being in retail?

Any other teachers on this thread? Just wondering what advice you've been given?

Kirky658 · 03/06/2021 18:15

@taybz I'm genuinely considering getting the vaccine now. My DH had his first yesterday. Done loads of reading on the increased risks of premature birth, stillbirth and pre eclampsia, and I just don't want to take the risk if I don't have the jab. X

bewitchingnight · 03/06/2021 18:31

@Taybz am quite lucky as half my job is more office based and they have found me an extra role to make up the difference at home. Otherwise yes I'd have been suspended.

@Kirky658 I don't know if you've seen the Stella creasy webinar about the vaccine but one of the points that made a difference to me when deciding was that there are known risks to catching it in 3rd trimester & known risks to babies being premature but there are no proven risks to the vaccine on the baby's future health. One of the epidemiologists on the panel has since done a study that showed the vaccine doesn't cross the placenta.

D0nut · 03/06/2021 18:41

I saw the webinar too and opted to have the vaccine. I had it two weeks ago and feel really relieved. My second jab is august 2.

FTEngineerM · 03/06/2021 18:46

@bewitchingnight yeah that’s something that swayed me too, the risks in 3rd trimester, I think it was @SillyBry that told me about a huge percentage I’ve forgotten the actual figure of c-sections that happen if you catch covid 28+ weeks.

Kirky658 · 03/06/2021 18:48

Thanks ladies for the support, it is so difficult to know you're doing the right thing isn't it!

Allicit · 03/06/2021 19:08

Bit late but thank you all for the advice!! ❤️

Noodles4Me · 03/06/2021 19:18

I am 28 weeks today. I'm not shielding, nor am I vaccinated but I'm still going to be sensible etc

I mainly WFH but am going into office twice in next few weeks, but only for a few hours and can avoid peak commute times. I'm still going out for tea and to seaside next month.

Anyone getting hip pain? Mine is bad and I feel like my muscles in my butt are over compensating so everything is sore, walking is really painful Sad

SillyBry · 03/06/2021 19:34

@Kirky658 I had my vaccine today. If it's any reassurance - the process was really smooth. I was pulled out of the queue and taken straight inside... but I had to talk to a Dr before they would let me have the vaccine. She wanted to outline the risks of Covid, the benefits of vaccination - but also talk quite honestly about the unknowns facing us. If she wasn't satisfied that I had made an independent decision I was happy about, she wouldn't have signed the form... and likewise, she told me, after the discussion, I could change my mind, go outside to think and come back etc. It felt comforting to know that she was there and it felt very open :-)

RaeRae84 · 03/06/2021 19:36

@Noodles4Me I'm of the same mind as you. 27 weeks, no vaccine and not shielding. I finish work in 4 weeks anyway so didn't see the point. Plus I've had covid this year.

Noodles4Me · 03/06/2021 19:50

@RaeRae84 yes - same. I might think differently if I hadn't had Covid but I'm just carrying on as normal but sensibly.

I did get my Whooping cough jab yesterday. All good, slightly sore arm but easy enough. Just need non-painful hips and a break from UTIs now

RaeRae84 · 03/06/2021 19:56

@Noodles4Me glad I'm not the only one!
Sorry to hear you're having issues. I'm not having hip pain but I have to say I've found the last 2 weeks really tough. Drained, sicky and just feel crap. I haven't done any exercise for nearly 2 weeks and it's making me feel really down.
I kind of assumed most of this would happen more 30 weeks+ 😩

SillyBry · 03/06/2021 20:07

@Noodles4Me my hips are awful too! I wake up in the night to wee and I hobble to the bathroom! 🤦🏼‍♀️🤣
I had a pregnancy deep tissue massage early last week and that helped a bit for sure. But I can see it’s only going to get worse over the coming weeks!!
