@AdventuresAwait it's definitely worth the money I got mine for about £15 on amazon

crobo87 · 30/05/2021 11:54

@AdventuresAwait yes it's fine. I was on lanzoprazole pre pregnancy but that's not recommended in pregnancy so I was switched it omeprazole.

AdventuresAwait · 30/05/2021 13:47

Great thanks @Hopefulmummie and @crobo87! Xx

KH512 · 30/05/2021 21:14

@Newmum110 I'm on cyclizine but a friend of mine needed to take 2 different meds a day to control her sickness - not sure if that would be possible for you?

@CherLW let me know what you think of the other courses by the honest midwife, as I'm considering paying for more!

CherLW · 30/05/2021 21:47

@KH512 I will do, I am looking forward to them and they aren’t too pricy either! Everyone thinks I’m mad doing the complex Labour and Birth one but I would rather know what could happen so I’m a little more prepared.

I also found another free workshop on the Baby Accedemy UK called ‘Baby Safety’... they didn’t have many spaces left but might be worth a look... it’s 1.5 hours.

AdventuresAwait · 30/05/2021 22:00

Is anyone regularly doing pelvic floor exercises? If so, how do you get into a routine? I only remember very occasionally but know I need to do them regularly, just not sure how to start getting into a routine!

Kirky658 · 31/05/2021 07:43

@adventuresawait I'm trying to do them when I remember and that's not very often 😅

AdventuresAwait · 31/05/2021 08:24

@Kirky658, glad it isn't just me 🤣. I just don't want to think afterwards that I wished I had done it more so trying to remember but just not sure how. Maybe I need to set a reminder on my phone!

FTEngineerM · 31/05/2021 08:43

@AdventuresAwait I was hoping to do it in the next few weeks so super pleased Noodles had a good one at 27 weeks, I think I’ll have a look this evening what appointments they’ve got. Can’t wait to see his little face. September seems so far away.

On the pelvic floor front, there’s an app called squeazy or something. The midwives recommend it because it pings up a notification on your phone.

AdventuresAwait · 31/05/2021 09:00

@FTEngineerM, I booked a scan! I'll be 28+4. Cannot wait!

I will look up the app... thanks!

GWhiteley · 31/05/2021 10:44

I've just signed up next Saturday for a free baby care workshop that my baby academy are doing. Looks really good & I love anything free! Would like to do a breastfeeding one as well, I think there's a free one online somewhere.
My midwife said she used to do 4 x 2 hr antenatal classes before the nhs stopped them, and they would have covered all the things I'm worrying about! Seems so unfair that we'll miss out on those

MrsTD88 · 31/05/2021 12:38

@KHR1 I find the forearm OK but hate having it taken from my hand. It isn't really painful but it's more sensitive so stings a bit.

@Noodles4Me amazing, we had a 4D sneak peak at our gender scan and it was so detailed. Hoping we can book one for later down the line so our daughter can come. Hoping by then she'll be allowed in.

SP2Bx · 31/05/2021 13:22

PSA - Tommee Tippee have 50% off today :)

Kirky658 · 31/05/2021 15:04

Anyone else really struggling with the heat 😩🌞 I love the sunshine but man I'm so bloody hot

GWhiteley · 31/05/2021 16:30

Luckily it's cooled down a bit here - but yes I did struggle a bit earlier. And this is only the beginning!

SP2Bx · 31/05/2021 17:50

I'm usually a sun worshipper but am very conscious of overheating so keep nipping in and out/just pottering about in the shade! One thing I have noticed in this warmer weather is how dehydrated I am... had cramp in my calf the past 2 nights so have made a conscious effort to drink a lot more water today!!!

KH512 · 31/05/2021 20:37

@CherLW thanks will take a look at that one! I think I would like to do the complex one too as I'd rather be aware of what can happen!

Kirky658 · 31/05/2021 20:54

I'm very stressed about the covid vaccine ladies. It's really worrying me as I've no idea what to do for the best. I know there are no safety concerns during pregnancy but it's how it could affect the baby in later life which worries me. My hubby is 30 in 3 weeks and he's booked his first jab for Wednesday. I'm 27 so I know it won't be long for me. I'm worried that the cases are rising fast again and just don't know what to do for the best as I know getting covid in the third trimester is dangerous. I just want to do right by our baby girl. X

crobo87 · 31/05/2021 20:59

@Kirky658 I have been the same today. I had decided not to have it till after baby but now I'm questioning if that's the right thing.

Kirky658 · 31/05/2021 21:05

@crobo87 likewise that was my initial decision but now I'm questioning it. I have asthma as well so I have a chance I'd be more severely ill if I did catch covid. And I don't want to spend my last trimester stuck at home too scared to go anywhere. Its a real head. Xx

crobo87 · 31/05/2021 21:10

@Kirky658 I'm asthmatic too.
I will probably chat with my midwife but I've heard a lot are just saying to do what you think is best which wouldn't help me make a decision 🙈

I work from home and my partner has had his vaccine but I have 2 children at school.
Mind is boggled lol x

SillyBry · 31/05/2021 21:13

@Kirky658 I was fairly adamant I wouldn’t have the jab, but when the invite came through, I did lots of research and have decided to go ahead with it.
I’d highly recommend watching the Stella Creasy webinar. It really reassured me - and then I googled the safety data for the Pfizer jab in pregnant women in the US, which made me feel somewhat better.
I was concerned about the possibility of rising numbers - and quite selfishly, if I were unvaccinated, having to isolate most of the summer and then how terrible I’d feel if I were to do that and then basically go into lockdown again in the winter.
But most importantly for me, two friends of mine have contracted Covid in their third trimester. Both worked from home and followed the rules. One was on oxygen, had a c section and her and baby had a further 7 days in hospital. The dad didn’t meet his daughter for 7 days. But they are all ok.
The other was 34 weeks and is on blood thinners now until birth... but her boyfriend caught it at work - and despite working from home/not going out, she was still ill... and managed to pass it to a colleague who came to collect something. Who then passed it to someone in the office.
It just really hit home for me that this isn’t over - and despite my best efforts to isolate/avoid risk, hubby and daughter still go out to work/nursery, so it can still come home to me!

Kirky658 · 31/05/2021 21:18

@crobo87 yep. I talked to my midwife and she said It sounded like i had taken a measured approach to looking at the risk vs benefits and offered me to chat to one of the gps if I wanted to ask more questions.

@sillybry absolutely it definitely isn't over despite what some people think. I'm sorry to hear about your friends and hope they are are both OK now. X

Newmum110 · 31/05/2021 22:19

I did a lot (and I mean a lot of research) before I had mine & spoke to specialists who had no vested interest as to whether I got it now. I have to say now that it's over & done with I feel relief that Covid is one less thing to worry about & I say that as someone who is reluctant to take a paracetamol just in case. Everyone needs to decide what is right for them but if you do your research then you can make an informed decision & whatever you decide is best for you & baby.

Newmum110 · 31/05/2021 22:23

@KH512 thanks so much, 25 weeks in & think (hope) I might have turned a corner. Best of luck with the rest of your pregnancy Flowers
