@Newmum110 sounds like me! I bugged all my vaguely medical friends for their 2 pennies worth and tried to decipher all the stats that came out of the US.
I think like you say, once you’ve made a decision (whichever way you go), it feels like a weight lifted as you know you’ve made a decision you back and you just have to go with the flow 😊

Kat1112025 · 01/06/2021 08:01

@Kirky658 I had my first one a couple of months ago and I'll have my next just before the third trimester. I found it a really tough decision especially as lots of healthcare providers say "it's up to you!"

It's worth reading the advice of the JVCI and the RCOG as well as the research coming from the US on Moderna and Pfizer in pregnancy.

The outcomes in the third trimester for pregnancy ladies and our babies is not good if you become severely unwell with covid. Sometimes doing nothing can feel safer than doing something, even when we logically balance up the risks and know this not to be the case.

Good luck making your decision, I'm very glad to be vaccinated but I definitely did mull it over for a bit.

MrsTD88 · 01/06/2021 08:19

I've decided to have the vaccine, it is booked in for next Thursday. Having had Covid in the early days and being so ill made my mind up for me. If I hadn't of had Covid maybe I'd have stuck it out until after birth but I was so, so careful at the time as I was on methotrexate for an ectopic pregnancy and still managed to catch it. It is such a personal decision and I genuinely believe there is no right or wrong. My husband is more worried about it than I am to be honest but I feel I've done enough reading and talking to healthcare professionals to support my decision. When I explained to him how dangerous it can be in the third trimester he could see where I was coming from.

GWhiteley · 01/06/2021 08:41

I'm slightly worried as haven't felt the baby move or kick as much as normal over the past 24 hrs, and trying to decide whether I should wait a bit or call the triage team as my midwife is off this week. It's not that she hasn't moved, more that it's less than normal & no kicks before bed as she normally would. The whole kicking & moving thing is quite stressful!

D0nut · 01/06/2021 08:54

Hi @GWhiteley. I contacted my midwife team last week about this same thing. I had felt movement but I hadn’t felt before bed or in the morning which I had done the week before, it felt different. The midwife I spoke to was super reassuring that before 25 weeks they can have days where you’d feel different or less or they might have shifted so you feel it differently. But she also said any time at all that you’re worried to head to the MAU and they’d be more than happy to have a listen. I would say to call/visit even if mainly to put your mind at ease.

GWhiteley · 01/06/2021 09:02

@D0nut I'm 26+4 & over the last few weeks at least things have been regular with when she would kick. Since posting she has been moving around, but you know when you get something in your head even feeling her move doesn't alleviate the slight worry?

Kirky658 · 01/06/2021 09:04

@gwhiteley I'd say better to be safe than sorry if you are concerned and a visit to them would put your mind at rest lovely. Xx

GWhiteley · 01/06/2021 09:19

I downloaded a kick counting app & I actually don't think that's helping me as it's the sort of thing I could get obsessive about so I've deleted it. She has moved around a bit this morning so am going to see how it is this afternoon & perhaps call a bit later if I'm still worried. Thanks for the support ladies xx

D0nut · 01/06/2021 09:23

@GWhiteley I also deleted my kicks counter!

MrsTD88 · 01/06/2021 10:47

@GWhiteley please don't hold off, phone as soon as you can. Don't ever worry you're wasting their time. My midwife cannot emphasise enough the importance of calling if you notice any changes.

Kirky658 · 01/06/2021 10:48

@gwhiteley @d0nut I have the kick counter app top and worried the same that it would make me panic more as I read that really its about movement patterns rather than particularly counting each kick, so have been monitoring each session she's active on there and tend to get 4 or 5 a day which is manageable.

FTEngineerM · 01/06/2021 12:12

It can be great indicator when something is wrong so always call, they’ll either tell you ways to get them moving or get you hooked up to the monitor. The midwife I spoke to last week (same one as I had with DS1 mosty too) said the outcome is so so tragic that it doesn’t really matter how many times or when, just call. The earlier they know there is a problem the better the outcomes are.

There was a thread on here for a woman who was experiencing lots more movement than usual, she went in and ended up having the baby early because it was in distress (iirc).

GWhiteley · 01/06/2021 15:04

I called & went in & the midwife listened to the heartbeat. She was happy that everything was ok & thinks perhaps baby has moved positions completely so now when she kicks it's going more internally than to my belly like it was before. She was very reassuring & said I could go in as many times as I needed to if it set my mind at rest

Kirky658 · 01/06/2021 15:12

@gwhiteley oh hun that's good news glad all is OK. As others have said I think they'd prefer you to go in if you were worried xx

AdventuresAwait · 01/06/2021 15:22

@GWhiteley, so glad everything is OK. I did the same a week or so ago and they said the same to me, they'd rather we call and get checked out. It reassured me to go in xx

Bubbles1st · 01/06/2021 18:36

Good news @GWhiteley happened me at the weekend so know it's a worry.

Has anyone else lost their little Pink nipples and can hardly recognise their boobs anymore!?

Do they ever come back? 🙈

FTEngineerM · 01/06/2021 21:04

Glad everything was fine @GWhiteley!

@Bubbles1st no.. sorry.. they’re long gone. Please welcome the burnt burgers.

KH512 · 01/06/2021 21:14

@Kirky658 I wasn't sure what to do about the vaccine but after a lot of research decided that at the moment the benefits outweigh any perceived risks. I joined this group in Facebook which helped me make my decision

Bubbles1st · 01/06/2021 21:18

@FTEngineerM oh noooo really 😭

OP posts:
Poppins2016 · 01/06/2021 21:42

@Bubbles1st I think everyone is different... my nipples went back to near normal colour and appearance before I'd even finished breastfeeding my first (we completely weaned off the breast at 2.5 years old/during the first half of this pregnancy). My nipples have definitely got darker again (and my breasts have gone up a couple of cup sizes!) as my pregnancy has progressed.
Having said that, my nipples are more pliable than they were before (only noticeable when touching), which is interesting... no idea whether that'll change or not, but it doesn't really bother me!

FTEngineerM · 01/06/2021 21:52

@Bubbles1st nah just kidding, it’s hormone related I think so should go back. Mine did, now they’re dark as heck again.

GWhiteley · 01/06/2021 22:30

Huh. My nipples haven't changed colour at all. They're a bit bigger, but then my boobs have slightly grown as well. None of this two cups up malarkey though!

CherLW · 02/06/2021 00:24

@GWhiteley glad all was ok when you went for a check. I’ve been 3 to MAU or the maternity centre 3 times now (I’m 26+4) and they are so reassuring every time. They say to call as that’s what they are there for.
Even at my last midwife appointment she said even if I had to come back the same day they would rather check me over than leave it.

MrsTD88 · 02/06/2021 08:04

@Bubbles1st yip lost mine too! They did go back to normal last time so hopefully will again. Also noticed last night I've started leaking, anyone planning on storing colostrum? Not sure when the best time to start is?
