@RaeRae84 I think that's the same with me - I've not exercised since last Tuesday due to having headaches and shoulder ache and I think it effects me so much!

@MrsTD88 Goodness, I didn't realise that turning 4 turned them into quite such know alls that can't possibly listen to a blinking word you say! She has an answer for everything at the moment! I just feel like I'm spending my whole time saying things like "if you're not listening to mummy, no stories on your Yoto speaker tonight..." and all the bribery. It's just a bit exhausting!

JasVL · 25/05/2021 11:04

Hey all! Can I be added please? Due 12th September and keeping the gender a surprise until the big day.

Has anyone been having awful backache? I’m 24 weeks and really suffering the last few days. Not sure if I’ve pulled something whilst cleaning the bathrooms at the weekend or if it’s baby related but it’s so painful!

leftitlate37 · 25/05/2021 11:12

Hey all! Ah @bewitchingnight just back from my 25w appt too! So glad u got 2 hear HB!
Same as u guys with some comments about size of bump or lack there of. However midwife said all fine and felt normal and they'd start measuring fundal height at 28w and any concerns would be sent for scan, so feel reassured at least! Didnt have whooping cough jab as she agreed to wait til next time as not even been 2w since my covid jab.
All felt remarkably straightforward i feel like I should have more questions but I just feel a bit clueless!
@RaeRae84 and @SillyBry lack of exercise am sure does not help the emotions and mental state! My lack of running is really bothering me but managing to swim so I feel like its something I can do for a bit of head space, but frustrating if busy whereas with running can always find a quiet place where u can not see anyone!

Noodles4Me · 25/05/2021 13:20

Afternoon all. Thankfully no hormones over running here but, physically, anyone else's boobs STILL growing? Mine are ridiculous. Also baby has discovered kicking downwards alternatively to my bladder or cervix. Yay!

Work have mentioned going to office but as am nearly 27 weeks and unvaccinated I am reluctant. My role does not require me to be in, so will talk to consultant next week.

D0nut · 25/05/2021 14:30

Hi all. I’m planning to submit my Mat1b form this week and tell my employer when I want to start maternity leave. Do I do anything else? I hope I have worked things out right, I plan to reduce my 52 weeks by 13 weeks for my partner to take some shared leave with me. And I’ll also take some paid holiday before and after. But how to I submit all this? Do I just tell HR in an email? I feel like there might be something I’m missing? HR have been so vague so far. I feel very in the dark!

Also with you all on the feeling up and down. I felt so reassured to hear I’m not the only one. Also had a nosebleed in the night. My first ever I’m my life! And I fear I have the start of hemorrhoids too :-(

unicornpower · 25/05/2021 14:45

@D0nut I don't know how it works at your job but ours is all online as we have a big centralised HR. but i think unless you're directed to a proper procedure then an email to HR is more than sufficient? I told my manager i want to take holiday prior to mat leave and he was fine with that. i hate the vagueness with HR it is really stressful isn't it! I was having sleepless nights about the whole thing! I keep having nosebleeds too, I've had 3 so far in this pregnancy and I've never had one before!

@Noodles4Me mine are also still growing! they are sooooooo itchy now!

We bought our travel system yesterday! we got a Silver Cross Pioneer. We got it second hand off a lovely lady who's daughter has barely used it as they used a sling most of the time. It was such a bargain! We are getting a 360 Car seat for my car but will use the one that came with the pram for when we leave hospital and leave it in my husbands car. I was so excited and we had a great time setting it all up and playing with it last night!

SP2Bx · 25/05/2021 14:52

@D0nut I submitted my MATB1 yesterday and at the same time asked how much holiday I will have accrued to help me decide when to finish/start mat leave.

When I first told them they just said "cool send your matb1 when you have it and that was literally it" I've heard once they have the form the discussions start and everything picks up a bit but... nothing yet! I want to use all my accrued holiday right before my due date to finish at the end of August and start Mat leave on my actual due date, but would be nice to know if that leaves me any days spare!

@RaeRae84 I can only imagine you did! All my male colleagues are being surprisingly supportive and saying things like "you'll want to take the whole time off you're going to be so busy" or when I suggested about keeping in touch they were like "you won't have time for that" so I've been pleasantly surprised!!! Now if only my DP would get the memo 😂

RaeRae84 · 25/05/2021 15:07

@SillyBry I really hope you feel better soon and can manage to get outside. I am going to try my treadmill tomorrow and see how I go.
@leftitlate37 the swimming by us is so pointless, we only have one pool at the moment as my regular place went bust during covid. I can't cope with the hassle of other people as they were so rude last year, don't follow any of the rules. Plus my costumes were tight enough before 😂 will never get them on. I hope it helps you a bit at least. I do have loads of YouTube workouts for pregnancy if you want me to share a link to them, let me know. They are nice and easy and don't have to use any equipment if you don't have it.
@SP2Bx your colleagues are clearly more with it!! Unfortunately these are the type that would probably have a nanny so would never understand! My DH is amazing I have to say, I'm not sure I could cope if it was work and home!

D0nut · 25/05/2021 15:21

Thank you @unicornpower and @SP2Bx that’s really helpful. Im glad I’ve not missed something! I’ll also ask how much holiday I will accrue. I’m hoping with holiday I can take 10 months altogether despite reducing for shared leave.

Scotti84 · 25/05/2021 16:39

Just had my 25 week appt, im about 27 weeks now. Had the glucose test and an internal scan, baby is now head down so right way up this time!

I came away with cream for my lovely haemmoroids, Rene for the heartburn and magnesium for the back and hip pain. Cleared out the pharmacy but at least im prepped! Back at work tomorrow, 7am start... lets see how that goes! No midday nap 😂😭

aj2boys · 25/05/2021 16:48

28th September with a boy

SillyBry · 25/05/2021 18:26

@Scotti84 oooh, is magnesium allowed? I think I might have to get some for my dodgy shoulder!!!

@D0nut @unicornpower @SP2Bx oh I sooooo feel your HR pain. I’m no longer allowed to email someone in HR... I have to submit a form to “people operations” and get a pretty automated response back. No one will tell me how much holiday I will accrue or acknowledge that I plan to put it on the end of my leave. I said but I can’t book it in the system as it goes into next year and they were like “don’t worry, sort it when you’re on leave!”
I’d just rather know before so I can plan when I’m actually returning rather than have to mess about in January with a new date!

Thanks @Bubbles1st - that's quite a list now!!

RaeRae84 · 25/05/2021 19:29

Wow thanks @Bubbles1st list looks immense!

Scotti84 · 25/05/2021 20:56

@SillyBry ive been prescribed 300mg, the soluble stuff to drink on an evening. From what the dr said low magnesium can be risky but supplements are ok up until the last month. I'm going to give it a go, but not daily, my back and hips are a nightmare atm, so if it helps thats brill, but ill just take it on days when its worse i think.

Shably · 26/05/2021 03:21

@Bubbles1st joining the September gang too baby no.2 due 28th September. Its a girl! 7 year age gap between my first. Such a different pregnancy from my first much harder, I have had 4 miscarroages in between too. Feeling massive, not sleeping already very uncomfortable and been a rather unwell post whooping cough vaccine. Anyone else had bad symptoms? Any tips?

Shably · 26/05/2021 03:42

This sounds like me right now. I am 22 weeks and feel like I have lost all control of my bladder during the day. I go and when I get up I am leaking again this only started this week. But cannot sleep now and having cramps too. Has anything helped you? with all my cushions and body.pillows not having much luck. Baby is having a rave in my belly tonight too lol. So reassuring feeling movements so not complaining about that one. But feeling a bit low about the rest. Pelvic hip pain is increasing too trying to do basic pregnancy yoga it's all I can take right now.

Shably · 26/05/2021 03:52

need to rember to tag Grin

GWhiteley · 26/05/2021 06:07

@KH512 thanks for the tip. I ended up getting a couple from Asda, although they're not proper maternity bras.

I noticed some saying they're up & down a bit at the moment, I can totally relate to that! My moods have been a bit all over the place over the last week & got extremely upset yesterday. Doesn't help when my husband tells me it's not good for the baby & I should try to control my emotions. Makes me cry more & want to punch him in the face at the same time! I don't think it's helping that my sleep is even worse than normal & im extremely busy at work at the moment. It's all piling on top of me!

Got back pain all the time so am back in the office with a proper chair which helps a bit, but now my hip is seriously starting to hurt more regularly so I'm going to mention it with my midwife at my app today.

Re maternity leave & holiday everyone was talking about, I guess I've been really lucky. Our department hr lady went through everything with me, several times as some of it I didn't understand, and we worked out together how much leave entitlement & bank holidays I'd have to tack to the end of my mat leave. She also went through with me my options for when I return to work. All our holiday is recorded on sap so I always know exactly how much leave I have left so I'm finishing on the 13th Aug & using 2 weeks holiday & my mat leave starts 2 days before my due date. When I submitted my matb1 to hr&payroll I then got a letter telling me how much I'd be earning & for how long. But feel for those that are struggling with their hr/management team over something this important.

On a plus note we've bought our pram (joie versatrax travel system), have picked the chest of drawers/changing table we're going to get soon, got given a mosses basket & stand for free & have picked a baby monitor. Feel slightly more in control of that side of things but still have soo many questions!

FTEngineerM · 26/05/2021 08:22

Sounds like they hooked you up @Scotti84 😂 hopefully you’ll be more comfortable now.

@GWhiteley my back was better in the office, I think it’s definitely position. I’ve been back home last two days we’re all unwell so don’t want to spread anything and yep… back to aching like hell. Tell your husband maybe him being pregnant would be better for the baby? Im sure he’d be happy to swap 😂

We definitely do accrue bank holidays as normal when off on maternity leave? I just left it after last Mat leave and I’m technically owed 2 I think. But looking ahead to the next one I think it’ll work out at about 5 bloody days so I want to make sure I get it all clear now ready for the next one.

unicornpower · 26/05/2021 08:27

Has anyone had colostrum leakage yet? It happened last night to me and really freaked me out! Feels like i'm so out of control of my body at the moment. Didn't help that my DH was away so i was all emotional anyway (such a wuss) and it really made me panic how everything is changing so fast!

FTEngineerM · 26/05/2021 09:02

No not yet @unicornpower but if you wanted you could start collecting with a syringe and keep it in the freezer if you planned of BFing.

GWhiteley · 26/05/2021 09:13

@FTEngineerM I'm telling you, he just doesn't get it! Either his ex had none of what I've been going through when she was pregnant or he's conveniently wiped it from his memory bank! 😂

As for bank holidays, all I can say is if you get bank holidays off as standard then yes you should accrue them while on mat leave - but I would definitely check & not assume just to be on the safe side

Kirky658 · 26/05/2021 09:24

@ftengineerm yeah as long as you usually get bank hols off because they're sorta part of your annual leave your entitled to them back when you return as leave days on full pay.

Anyone else suffering with what I think is round ligament pains? It's a vile pain low on my left side, quite uncomfortable unless I lie down. Just walked the dog and it felt like it was pulling, very unpleasant. However last night I had a nice relaxing bath, don't get to do that very often, and I watched my belly move as our baby girl kept kicking me! DH came to watch too and he was memorised it was so special 😍
