@FTEngineerM that sounds absolutely bloody terrifying haha

@Shably welcome not just the thread but awake in the middle of the night club!

I will add you in the next updated list

@RaeRae84 this is exactly why I mean..free reign to say whatever without thinking how it affects us! What makes pregnancy ok to do this?! At size 10 I've been called overweight, can you believe it?!

@SillyBry I'm also feeling all those constant aches and pains especially back pain which doesn't go away. 3 more months to go, hang in there!

Taybz · 26/05/2021 16:13

Re: maternity leave, our HR is absolutely awful at communication but they've said that apparently mat B and formal letter has to be provided to them by week 24. I haven't even had my week 25 appointment so I'm not sure how they expect me to do this.

SillyBry · 26/05/2021 16:18

@Taybz it’s that never ending second trimester right now! I feel like the end is still so far off... although I know when I get to 30 weeks, it’ll all get a lot more real and seem a lot sooner!
If I were you, I’d contact your midwife/GP to request your MatB1 ahead of your appointment as if you’re late to submit it, it might delay your maternity pay. I rang my drs surgery and picked up the letter a couple of days later :-)

CherLW · 26/05/2021 16:25

@GWhiteley it’s so good feeling a bit more prepared isn’t it! What baby monitor did you go for? I’m not very ‘techs’ and there are just so many to choose from. I think I want to go for one with a camera but it’s another minefield!

unicornpower · 26/05/2021 16:26

@Taybz my midwife sent it through the post so that should be what yours do too? But I agree with what @SillyBry said, call your DRS and you should be able to pick it up

Shably · 26/05/2021 16:45

Thanks @Bubbles1st ;)

Shably · 26/05/2021 16:49

@Taybz I was told by my midwife today that it should be given at your 28 week appointment that should give work enough time to sort out maternity leave. Good luck. Work are great at stressing out new mums. Mine are not any better with anything. I am sure it will work out talk to your midwife and maybe ask your Dr for a note to explain they do that too. Remember you are more than within your rights to receive maternity pay HR should know this x

unicornpower · 26/05/2021 17:29

@Shably I think legally you have to tell your employer about your pregnancy 15 weeks before your due date though for maternity leave purposes (that's what I read on gov.uk anyway!) And my employer won't put in the maternity leave request until they have your MATB1. I guess it depends on the employer as to what they accept? I just wouldn't want anyone to get caught out with not submitting it in time!

Taybz · 26/05/2021 17:35

Thanks ladies, will give my midwife a call tomorrow. It's a maternity minefield out there with all sorts of information!
Has anyone found any good sales? I'm planning to get a few bits and bobs with bank holiday coming up but I haven't spotted any good deals.

GWhiteley · 26/05/2021 17:44

@CherLW I don't want a camera or anything that connects to wifi or the like so going for this one https://shop.bt.com/products/bt-audio-baby-monitor-450-lightshow-087430-CLWP.html?utmsource=google&utmmmedium=product%20search&utmcontent=RR00&ReferrerID=RR00&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI4pnX9-Tn8AIVDt1RCh3kXg0wEAQYASABEgIhIfDDBwE
It has a night light, 18 different sounds/lulabys & has a 2 way talk. It's had mixed reviews about the temperature but I'm not going to use that function. Just depends on what you're looking for!

RaeRae84 · 26/05/2021 18:05

@Taybz I wish I could answer that question. I've had it again in the office today. I barely have slept since Friday and my tolerance is hanging on by a thread. I know they think they are being funny and harmless but it's really not the point.
It's madness isn't it. Most of them are bigger than me and not pregnant. Even happier I took early maternity now, 5 weeks Friday and I don't have to listen to it. Least we can rant on here!! Plus I rant when I get home on a daily basis 😂

CherLW · 26/05/2021 18:13

Thanks @GWhiteley I’ll look at that one... I like the idea of the 2 way talk and the extra functions. I just wish there were less to choose from to make the decision easier 🤦🏻‍♀️

SillyBry · 26/05/2021 22:11

@GWhiteley @CherLW I’ve just gotten my second one of these monitors. My four year old’s finally died and I’ve replaced it ready for baby.
I felt like I never needed video as I can hear everything and frankly, can tell if they are climbing all over the place. I would’ve gone without the monitor by now, but my 4 year old asked me to get it back in her room so she can talk to us on the monitor 🤣🤣

Sceptre86 · 26/05/2021 22:23

@Taybz check out mamas and papas (they have an event on) and boots. If you join the boots baby club you get 8 points per pound on baby products so it is sometimes worthwhile to get baby stuff from there so you can use your points to treat yourself.

Has anyone else put on pjs only to discover the top no longer covers bump? I suggested to my dh that my pjs have shrunk and he politely responded that I have grown.🤦‍♀️Have any of you invested in maternity pjs , if so recommendations would be appreciated. I'm not sure if I should just go up a size.

MrsTD88 · 26/05/2021 22:26

Had my 20 week re-scan today and all is perfect, feel like I can finally relax a little!

@Kirky658 hope all goes well tomorrow.

@SillyBry I agree totally exhausting! I love that she's assertive but my goodness she can test my patience at times.

@D0nut I think that's all you need to put in your intentions for finishing up and using annual leave. My work have asked if I want to stop my Pension contributions for the time I'm off and I've said yes as it will give us some more money to play with every month. I need to write a letter with my Pension reference etc on it just asking for it to be suspended while I'm on maternity leave. I work in a law office so they're a bit more on the ball with what my rights are and have been approaching me before I have to. We had a call to discuss my intentions yesterday and I've been sent a memo with all that as discussed. They're looking to advertise for my maternity cover which makes things very real all of a sudden!

crobo87 · 26/05/2021 23:01

@Sceptre86 all of my normal tops/T-shirt's are now getting too small and showing my stomach 🙈. I've bought some bigger sizes in vest tops as they are my go to for the evening.
I really need to get some maternity stuff though as I'm very lacking on the clothes front lol x

D0nut · 26/05/2021 23:24

Thanks @MrsTD88 this is useful to know that’s an option. I submitted my intention for maternity leave form today along with my Matb1. It was still silent at the end of the day but hopefully this will get the ball rolling. My work are very disorganized for recruitment. It would be so useful to have a handover but I won’t hold my breath!

Shably · 27/05/2021 02:27

@unicornpower I see I didn't realise this, thanks for sharing. I wonder why the midwifes are leaving it later than uausl. All about getting on to the midwifes then. Maybe the Dr's will speed it up as suggested in another post. Good luck @taybz 🤞🏽

Scotti84 · 27/05/2021 05:36

@crobo87 im with you on that, i bought a couple of bits thinking itd do but my god i have nothing to wear! My old shirts dont really cover, jeans have no hope n everything is so uncomfy! Excuse to shop!!!

Had first day back at work yesterday n already been told im pregnant not sick, that the rules about lifting are more a matter of whether i have a weak mind or not, the rule here is pregnant women dont work sundays but 'its only 6 weeks, ill manage'. It also went from me being solely Office based (work in a hotel) so doing check out n in etc to being put in breakfast service as we are short staffed but only when theres just a few guests, to now 'and when we are full then someone will have to help you' wtf?! I'm not weak or work shy but its my first baby, im unsure of my limits and i dont want to push them. Unsure whether its worth speaking to my Dr about it or if they'll just say talk it through with the boss again. She said all this. Plus i need Sundays off as its now the only day OH has free and we have a fair bit of stuff to do! I hate being put in these situations where I feel i have to be the bitch to get what's supposed to be the general rule!

Kirky658 · 27/05/2021 06:41

@sceptre86 yep my pj's hang over my belly now it's so attractive 🤣 I suppose luckily I dont buy clothes that often so my old t shirts are a size bigger so still fit well so it's tshirts and Leggings for me atm!

Bubbles1st · 27/05/2021 07:19

@Sceptre86 I just bought a couple of string strap nighties in the next size up, not only ate they quite roomies but will be super easy to breastfeed wearing them but just pulling a strap down a little.

Sceptre86 · 27/05/2021 07:38

@crobo87, @Bubbles1st, @Kirky658 Glad it is not just me! I think I need a shopping trip, will just steal dh's tshirts to wear to bed for now.

Bubbles1st · 27/05/2021 07:41

Wow look at my spelling mistakes... I'm so tired 🙈
