@Waitingforbabypage @Nesski super thank you ladies , I feel like I've packed nearly all her clothes and I'll have no clean clothes for when we arrive home haha so definitely need to stock up on a few more bits and there I was thinking I had plenty 🤣🙈

pookypup · 30/04/2021 16:43

@Waitingforbabypage that’s about identical to my list! Have left a second set of baby clothes / nightie, mat pads and pants in a very obvious place at home where DH can scoop them up and bring them over if we are in for longer than 2 nights.

I’ve added lansinoh cream too, as I found with my second baby that slathering it on after feeding in the early days really helped prevent cracked and sore nipples. Oh and a couple of muslins.

Bella678 · 30/04/2021 16:58

There's a new thread. I didn't realise and its so active too. Going to try catching up 🥰

Waitingforbabypage · 30/04/2021 17:05

@pookypup ah yes I have nipple cream and some cloths too.
I've separated things into two bags, all the baby stuff (except the milk) fits in to her changing bag and everything for me fits in a weekend bag.

Ooh I chucked a dark coloured towel in too for me. My hospital does provide them, I just feel better if I'm using my own.

AlRRRR · 30/04/2021 17:16

I’ve packed 2 outfits for baby, 1 for me alongside a nighty to give birth in although i ended up naked last 4 hours hahaah.

5 reusable nappies/ reusable wipes, which I’ll wet as needed. The nipple cream is a good shout as I forgot this first time and due to incorrect latching and stress, got a very sore nipple!

Also the spare phone charger, which me and my partner both forgot 1st time round so we had dead phones till we got home 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Nesski · 30/04/2021 18:40

@Waitingforbabypage must remember o ask about the premade formula bottles, someone told me my hospital provides if breastfeeding doesn't happen! And thanks for the list, going to nab it for when packing time comes Grin. Bought massive knickers this weekend too, gonna look so sexy.

@pookypup does the cream work?it's expensive but so many people swear by it. I'll pack at least two sets of nighties as I have a tendency of bleeding through things Blush

pookypup · 30/04/2021 19:54

@Nesski yes, it is quite expensive but worth using in the early days. Once your nips get sore and the skin breaks it’s really painful and takes such a long time to heal. I found prevention is better than cure. You probably will not finish the tube, so should only need to buy one.

ChasingARainbow · 30/04/2021 20:06

@AlRRRR @Sitchervice thanks for the link to this thread, I thought the old one had gone very quiet 🙈
Will have a catch up on this one tonight x

AlRRRR · 30/04/2021 20:09

@pookypup Yes, I found that too, always put on straight after a feed, every feed, even if baby was cluster feeding and on a milk bender 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

PurpleishDahlia · 30/04/2021 22:13

Hello all :)
I've been having some brown discharge for the last couple of days along with lower back cramps, so triage suggested I go in for a check. It looks like this is all caused by thrush 🤦‍♀️ who would have thought? Good news all in all, no indication of actual contractions or pre term labour, just irritation due to thrush.
I'm sharing this in case it helps anyone reading in the future :)

I've been preparing my hospital bag too, very exciting! I'm also taking a wide hairband, lip balm and cereal bars. Also our car seat, which has an integrated isofix base and it weighs a ton (we're taking a taxi to the hospital).

MelissaAnn92 · 30/04/2021 22:19

I forgot how hard the 3rd trimester is, or maybe I was fine 1st time around, I'm feeling so sickly on a night time, headachy and my coccyx is killing me.
I'm doing phone call reviews and think the position is causing me too much pain but I don't want to start maternity yet or likewise go off sick. Eeeeh god, but will have to look after myself first I suppose.

I hope everyone else is feeling relatively ok.
I've had a few tears tonight 😓 maybe just extra hormonal! Xxx

Nesski · 30/04/2021 22:50

@MelissaAnn92 I'm just dreading hitting weeks 36+. I'm knackered all the time and cannot sit comfortably, on top of that I feel sick too, think it's the indigestion so I try and eat really early (7pm latest).

BlondePotter · 01/05/2021 05:54

Anyone elses husband annoying them? Mine had a load of drinks on the sofa, came to bed at 4am waving his phone torch around and so of course I've been awake since whilst he snores away!
I can imagine my waters breaking st some point and he's drunk too much and misses the birth 🙈🙈

@BlondePotter the first trimester irritation has returned for me and I want to pummel my husband most days (obviously for things that I’m being completely irrational about).
I can definitely see your annoyance with your husband this morning though! Is he normally a drinker? Maybe just mention that you might have to have a plan B for a birth partner if you end up going into labour on one of the nights he’s been drinking and see if that makes him realise that he needs to reign it in a bit. I hope you can catch up on some sleep later!

Humpty11 · 01/05/2021 06:51

@Nesski I agree with @pookypup put it on as a preventative, it’s like magic cream! Breastfeeding was still uncomfortable but could have been so much worse. You also don’t have to wipe it off or anything before baby feeds again. Boots have a baby event at the moment and it’s a bit cheaper than it normally is.

ChasingARainbow · 01/05/2021 07:58

Just had a massive catch up of this thread, I've jotted down the things you've all suggested for the hospital bag as it's my plan this weekend to get packed. Think I'm going to take a suitcase in rather than a few bags but like the idea of putting the outfits for the baby in freezer bags so my husband can just grab them. One thing I'm also planning to take is ear plugs incase I end up staying in before labour- someone on our NCT mentioned them the other night and I thought that was a good idea.
I'm another one due 10th June and can't believe how quickly the time is going, I've only got three more weeks left at work if I get that far.

Waitingforbabypage · 01/05/2021 08:49

Can I just point out that we have our babies NEXT MONTH!! (Some of us could be THIS MONTH ) AAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!
I've woken up with pains in the sides of my bump and my lower back- which are different pains to normal. Hmmmm must have slept weirdly.

Noted the use of nipple cream, I've never used it before so I didn't realise it was one of those things you can use all the time as a preventative rather than waiting for the sore nips before cracking it out.

Ooh hairband/hair ties! Good shout @PurpleishDahlia

TerryRose · 01/05/2021 11:15

@Waitingforbabypage it's crazy isn't it !!! Can't believe it's so close .
Never thought of putting the nipple cream on prior either , makes so much sense!

I've attached the two checklists I've been working off for my bags if it helps anyone .

@TerryRose Masks! Thank you - a good reminder.

@Waitingforbabypage time seems to be going so fast now. Mad that we’ll be seeing our babies appear this month or next!!! Looking forwards to our first birth announcement appearing on this thread 🥰

Sitchervice · 01/05/2021 13:33

Any recommendations of nipple cream BTW from second/third time mums. I am a little worried about touching my nipples, makes me feel squeamish but it also hurts so hoping to find somthing a little more soothing and gentle on the skin.

Humpty11 · 01/05/2021 13:54

@Sitchervice I just used the lansinoh lanolin cream but I’m sure they’re all very similar. There’s not much difference in the price compared to own brands. It’s a bit like a creamy Vaseline so shouldn’t be uncomfortable but is a bit sticky from what I remember.

Sitchervice · 01/05/2021 17:37

@Humpty11 thanks I'll have a look at a few home brands as well as what you've recommended. Touching my nipples for me is like for some people touching their eyeball (which I ironically can do 🤔)

I think it will take practice.

lucieloos · 01/05/2021 21:04

Just hopping on the new thread

TerryRose · 01/05/2021 21:11

Anyone else using a pregnancy yoga ball and feeling like a right fool haha between trying to inflate it to the right level and then trying to do figure of 8s and just confusing myself so I just bounce up and down 🤣🤣🙈

Waitingforbabypage · 02/05/2021 04:20

Oh @Sitchervice that eyeball ref made me chuckle!!
Do you think the cream would work if you smudged some on a breast pad or a cotton pad and then placed that on your nipple in your bra? Or would it still make you uncomfortable/not work?
