@AnxiousAnnie86 and @Firsttimeconcerns Out of curiosity, how do they discover you have a blood clot, is it through getting symptoms? x

AnxiousAnnie86 · 27/04/2021 07:29

@AlRRRR yes, mine was discovered after I had my daughter last time, only a few hours later, I kept going really really dizzy when I stood up, and when I spoke I felt like my breath was going. Was horrible xx

PurpleishDahlia · 27/04/2021 14:44

@Nesski @Waitingfornormality I hope cramps are a normal feeling at this stage. It's my first pregnancy so I have no reference.

I saw the midwife today and I feel a bit let down. It was the 5th different midwife, I've never seen the same twice. For my pelvic pain she said to ask physio, for the cramps to ask triage and for the thrush to ask GP. It felt like all she did was clerical work with no real interest in providing care. I guess I'm a bit more sensitive than usual too.

Our house is still a construction site and I'm trying to manage my expectations. The amount of work that still needs doing is overwhelming 🛠️ 😞 🛠️

BabyBumpIncoming · 27/04/2021 16:20

@PurpleishDahlia I've had a few period like cramps too but not been for a long period of time, I didn't really think it was anything to worry about as have had them on and off for a while. Also had a bit of a nightmare with the midwives as my one left for another practice a few months ago and since then it's just been who ever is on duty. Not great for us 1st time mums 😕.

On a positive note we are so close to saying we can meet our babies next month 🥰

Nesski · 27/04/2021 19:11

@PurpleishDahlia yeah I have no idea either.

@BabyBumpIncoming needing the positivity right now, my husband pointed at my bump and said it looks like a melon strapped in.. and I did that to you followed by a haha in Nelson's voice

pookypup · 27/04/2021 22:12

So came away from my 34 week appointment today a bit worried- fundal height has not gone up from 31 week measurements and I’ve been referred for a growth scan within 72 hours. This baby was small at 20 weeks anyway, so curious as to what will happen next.

Has anyone had similar experiences?

bubblebath62636 · 27/04/2021 22:27

Anyone requested an elective c section?

I have a consultant appointment at 34 weeks but im worried it's too late to request one!

Waitingforbabypage · 28/04/2021 07:20

We got the house, we're moving in about 3 weeks 😱😱😱 absolute madness!!

My midwife doesn't seem too helpful either, I thought it was because this is my third baby she's assuming I know what's what but from reading it just seems like the community midwives simply aren't massively interested in being helpful these days. Mine hasn't even touched my bump, she's not measured me or anything simply checks my bp and urine and sends me on my way.

I have a consultants appt in a few weeks I'll be 36+4 by then and I'm hoping they'll take pity on all my pgp pain and induce me a little earlier- although I like the thought of a elective c-sec, knowing the actual date etc would be amazing....I just think the recovery on the other side would be quite tough.

Sleep is a thing of the past, apparently I don't need any. My OH wishes he could help more and I've told him his part is coming soon!! He can take her for a nice long walk and let me sleeeeeeeeep!!!!

Nesski · 28/04/2021 09:12

@bubblebath62636 from my understanding it's not too late to request but just make sure you have your reasons why and push hard if you decide you want one. Maybe good to put your birthplan together with him/her so you have an agreed outcome

@Waitingforbabypage woo so exciting! If you can afford it, pay for a company to do all the packing and unpacking for you!!

WaitingForNormality · 28/04/2021 09:17

Anyone requested an elective c section?

I have and it's all booked for 39+1 :-) This is my second baby and I requested a section due to a minor ongoing medical issue I've had since having my first. The hospital told me this was not a recognised medical reason to have a section, so I had to request a section via the 'maternal request' process.

I don't think it's too late at 34 weeks, but just to warn you I had to go through a series of different appointments before it got signed off. I needed two separate consultant's agreement, plus I had to see 2 registrars for a discussion about risks. It was massive overkill IMO, but I got it signed off eventually!

Opticabbage · 28/04/2021 09:56

@pookypup Fundal measurements are notoriously unreliable, so there's a good chance everything is fine. Opposite end of the scale.. last time I had growth scans because my measurements were too high, but baby was growing well with no problems. Fingers crossed you find the same.

pookypup · 28/04/2021 10:11

Thank you @Opticabbage, that is reassuring.

I have an appointment for this afternoon, so at least I don’t need to wait long!

I weighed myself and have actually lost weight in the last too weeks, but again I’m just hoping that this can be normal.

PinkPlantCase · 28/04/2021 11:12

@pookypup I’ve lost weight in the last 2 weeks aswell, only about 1kg, fundal height has continued to follow the line for me though.

It’s odd, I haven’t eaten any differently, though I’ve tried to cut down on sugar by eating things that are fattier/protein heavy instead which anything I thought would make me gain more weight!

Penny2020 · 28/04/2021 14:22

@pookypup I had the same at 31 weeks, no growth so asked for scan but everything was completely fine (bang on 50th percentile according to the sonographer) and measured back on track at my 34w scan. As @Opticabbage has said it seems the measuring tape method is completely arbitrary and very unreliable! I’ve had a different midwife for every check-up I’ve had so likelihood of them all using exact same start and end point seems very unlikely!

Good luck but try not to worry for now.

MimiDaisy11 · 28/04/2021 15:01

I don't think you should worry about how much you weigh. I think there's a reason they don't weigh us as your weight can fluctuate and isn't necessarily related to anything being wrong or right.

pookypup · 28/04/2021 15:13

Thank you all for you reassurance. @Penny2020 glad you had a positive outcome after yours.

@MimiDaisy11 my midwife told me to stop weighing myself too - you are so right 😊

Just sat in waiting room now for appointment!

northerngal20 · 28/04/2021 15:17

hope the growth scan goes ok @pookypup, keep us posted! as PP have said I don't think fundal height measurement is that reliable, at my 28w appointment I was alarmingly measuring large at three weeks ahead, but now i'm back on track. fingers crossed baby will be measuring fine at the scan!

Santatizer · 28/04/2021 15:29

Due 14 June, girl, hoping for a VBAC with epidural...

pookypup · 28/04/2021 17:44

Thank you all. Scan did go well, baby measuring just below 50th, which is well up from where we were at 20 weeks.

Going back in 2 weeks to be re-scanned as part of my section booking.

Will try to relax and enjoy the last few weeks now!

TerryRose · 28/04/2021 18:37

@Santatizer I'm due the 14th as well 😊

Firsttimeconcerns · 28/04/2021 19:45

@AIRRRR my feet have been feeling strange for a while in terms of sensitivity but then my left ankle became swollen. I mentioned it to my midwife 2 weeks ago who said she didn't think it was connected to pregnancy and if it persisted to contact gp. Last week GP said it was the baby pressing on nerve and it would go after birth. A couple of relatives had planted some seeds of doubt in my mind though about it being one foot and not both which made me follow it up again this weekend. I went to a&e and they referred me for a scan the next day and they found the clot in my left thigh. When I read online the symptoms of dvt I definitely had them all but as it's my first I didn't realise what was normal swelling.

northerngal20 · 28/04/2021 20:42

yay @pookypup glad it went well!

Opticabbage · 28/04/2021 20:55

@pookypup that's great!

pookypup · 28/04/2021 21:12

@northerngal20 and @Opticabbage thank you 😊

AlRRRR · 29/04/2021 11:36

@Firsttimeconcerns Oh wow, good that you went to a n e then! x
