@CherLW I'm currently trying to wade through the pram finding stage before I move onto things like monitors & pumps. But you're right, there's just so much choice it's hard to know what's right. I think I am going to keep it simple monitor wise, and not get one with a camera etc

mumof23188 · 06/05/2021 22:17

Good luck for scans tomorrow 🥰

@Kirky658 my arm was so painful after my jab. Lasted a good few days 😩

RaeRae84 · 06/05/2021 22:22

@GWhiteley it is great but I was fully expecting paper which I would prefer as I'm not the greatest with technology 😂 at least I don't have to remember to take notes anytime as it's all on my phone.
@cherLW yes DH has picked one I think, I'm not 100% sure which one but know it's a BT one. We signed up to Which for a couple of months to help us decide on a few things

Kirky658 · 07/05/2021 06:14

@crobo87 @gummybear91 good luck today x

Ladies who are runners (and anyone else this might apply to!) sorry this is a very tmi question but I don't know who to ask. I've always got very ahem damp while running even before pregnancy. But it is excessively so now whilst running. I'm concerned it isn't just discharge or sweaty yuck but amniotic fluid, can I ask if any of you have this while running? X

Kirky658 · 07/05/2021 08:55

Forgot to add the reason I'm asking is because I'm having a major freak out and for some reason I'm convinced my fluid is leaking 😢

Mamabearwhere · 07/05/2021 09:07

@Kirky658 I would ring the midwife if you’re worried about fluid leaking, definitely don’t leave it to chance. It’s likely nothing and excess discharge due to body changes etc but always best to get these things checked. X

unicornpower · 07/05/2021 10:08

@CherLW My husband has tasked himself with baby monitor research haha He wants to get the Nanit, It's very all signing, all dancing but its got good reviews! Breast pumps i have ZERO idea about what I'm looking for etc so any tips would be amazing.

Good luck to all the ladies having scans today!

I keep waking up so early now its really annoying as i'm exhausted in the day then :( so irritating! I did feel my first proper kick last night though, my husband felt it too which was really exciting!

CherLW · 07/05/2021 10:33

@unicornpower I’ve seen the Nanit, it looks very fancy! I think I would like one with a camera and I’ve seen ones which have the app to your phone!

@GWhiteley I am thankfully through the pram stage and got that ordered up last week! I feel like each stage gets more tricky with choices!!

@RaeRae84 I think I’ve seen a BT one advertised, I’ll have to look at that also.

I was wondering what the best time to even get a monitor would be as I expect for the first few months he will always be with me or someone when he’s sleeping.

I’ve mainly been looking and the Medela and Elvie breast pumps. They have some good reviews but also quite pricey. I’m really really hoping to breast feed but I also want to give others the opportunity to feed too.

GWhiteley · 07/05/2021 10:40

Ooh @CherLW which pram did you go for in the end? There's a shop not far from my house that sells them so going to go with hubby next week to have a look.

@unicornpower I too wake up early most days now, it's ridiculous as the bags under my eyes now have bags of their own!

leftitlate37 · 07/05/2021 10:41

good luck for scans today!!
Exciting re the kicks @unicornpower and gr8 your husband felt it too :)
@Kirky658 agree, defo ring midwife is concerned. Id say generally defo more stuff down there right now! I do find sometimes a bit damper when running but probably a crap pelvic floor already and related to the fact i have about 3 wees per run! well...i was having :(
really struggled last 10 days, went out last night with the club and was a jog/walk for 4 miles and found it so hard. my back, hips, front of my tummy, argh!!! hoping itll get better but resigning myself to the fact this could be the start of the end of the running for me :(
hope everyone who had whooping cough jab have less sore arms now! guessing mine will be at my 25wk appt, something to not look forward too haha.
sounds like you are all whizzing through the shopping choices - we really need to knuckle down and get some things ordered in case they take time to arrive etc. feel better that at least have the bedside crib so its a start! albeit a v small start!
anyone else still really struggling with names???

GWhiteley · 07/05/2021 10:42

@Kirky658 I can understand you being worried, I'd definitely call the midwife as better to be safe than sorry. Let us know what they say

SillyBry · 07/05/2021 10:44

@Kirky658 I would definitely call your midwife and check.
I will be 100% honest with you... I have quite a lot of leakage when running now... especially in the evenings. I did 5km this morning, straight out of bed and was fine... but by the evening, my pelvic floor is much weaker and I find I leak a fair bit... I am trying to organise seeing a women's physio to see if I can do anything to help it, rather than wait til after birth, but I've not gotten an appointment yet!
I would say, that even without feeling little pee leakages, I am REALLY damp down there... I keep chafing because I'm so blinking damp, which is really uncomfortable... don't know if it's just tiny leaking that I don't know about or if I'm just much sweatier down there... don't know, but I would say, I finish most 4+ mile runs feeling like I need to change my leggings!!

CherLW · 07/05/2021 10:45

@GWhiteley I went for the Cosatto Wow 2, I got a bundle in the ‘On the Prowl’ print. I’ve also decided to get the Joie I level car seat after someone mentioned it on here. 😊

SP2Bx · 07/05/2021 10:57

I've been recommended a basic Natures Bond manual "pump" (more just like leak catcher!) for the first week or so as apparently you leak so much there's no need to properly "pump" and then, if it's going well and I decide to stick with it I can get a proper one then. For this I've been recommended the Medela but it's so hard to know!

@CherLW I'm wanting to BF but have other people feed too (for various reasons!), so plan to express and combination feed breast and bottles all being well!

I haven't even looked at monitors yet but guess it's next on my list after a cot. I'd like a good clear video one. Have been advised to stay away from Bluetooth though!

@leftitlate37 We've got a boys name nailed but are struggling with girls... there's a name we agree on but I'm not completely sold yet, not as much as the boy, so would like us to keep thinking on that! DP doesn't seem interested though as he's convinced it's a boy anyway 🙈

CherLW · 07/05/2021 11:04

@SP2Bx that sounds like a good plan... just see how things go with the breastfeeding before spending out on a pump. I really hope I can breastfeed but if not that will be ok also.

I’ve bought a Snuz bedside crib but going to wait until he’s about 4 months old to look for his main cot.. spreads out the decisions and costs also 😊

Kirky658 · 07/05/2021 11:20

Rang the MAU, they want me to go in to be checked over. Hoping and praying all is OK xx

leftitlate37 · 07/05/2021 11:33

Youll be fine @Kirky658....its good to be sensible and call them to check. Good luck, let us know how u go.
@SP2Bx ha its the boys name we can't get!! Loads of girls...but unless they got it wrong at scan then we won't be needing them!!! Reckon we might know once we see them in the flesh least thats what am hoping!

CherLW · 07/05/2021 11:37

Hope all goes well @Kirky658, it’s always good to get checked over so they can put your mind at rest.

@leftitlate37 @SP2Bx sorry to butt in but I’m the same! I’m having a boy and only have 1 boy name but had sooo many girls names!!

I just bought my car seat 😬 online at boots! It was £250 but they have a parenting club where you get more points and a points offer on at the moment so I’ll get £50 in points back!! They will definitely come in handy down the line!

leftitlate37 · 07/05/2021 11:42

Oooo forgot about boots points, great idea @CherLW! We haven't got car seat yet...ill look!
R u both set on the boy name?! Guess we only need to agree on 1!! Its so hard isn't it!

Noodles4Me · 07/05/2021 11:47

I bought the perfect prep machine last night, Boots and £80 down from £125. And an anti-colic bottle!

Need a car seat that's compatible with iCandy pram and the car seat base thingy....we got those bits free from a friend.

CherLW · 07/05/2021 11:48

If you sign up to the parenting club on boots @leftitlate37 you get more points when you buy baby things.
Luckily me and the baby’s dad both like the name I chose but I would like to have a back up name just incase 😂 I spend ages looking online at boys names and even the credits for movies and things for ideas but still only have the one! Have you got any names? (Sorry if you’ve already mentioned) x

RaeRae84 · 07/05/2021 12:01

@CherLW I think that's the car seat we've just got as well. It looks so huge 😂
Those with boys names, how do you come up with them, I find it so hard!! I had my girls names but boys just seem impossible to find one I like.
I hadn't really thought about a pump just yet. I thought I would wait and see if I actually do manage to BF before getting one. You guys will have to let us know how you get on in September and see which is the best to go for.
@leftitlate37 sorry to hear you were struggling yesterday. I'm definitely going to look at bands over the weekend, I think I had a similar stomach issue before. It's only happened once but then you've probably done a lot more than me. I do think another month and I'm going to resign myself to the treadmill as at least I'm home should I want to stop at any point and not be ages from home. It's my first run since Saturday tonight so will see how that goes.
How on earth are you guys managing to go in a morning?? I can barely get myself up and to work for 9. I can only do it in the evenings.
@Kirky658 I hope everything is ok, I'm sure it is and you're doing the best thing. If I'm honest, I've not really noticed anything but I normally just strip and shower straight away. Maybe I need to be paying more attention to my body!

RaeRae84 · 07/05/2021 12:02

@cherLW I'm so glad I'm not the only one scanning the credits for names 😂
