Thanks so much @SillyBry I better get onto it.
Argh I feel that with the running, feels like a leadweight in there. Hubby was trying to understand how I found it hard but couldn't really explain just how weird and uncomfortable it has got! Best i could do is imagining eating 3 roast dinners, 3 bags of cement not having a poo for a week and then trying to run!!! Thanks for tips re kt tape ill try that. Tempted to look for bump bands as well...have u ever tried one?
I read some of that blog...is her amazing body bounce back just after birth totally unrealistic?!

SillyBry · 06/05/2021 11:31

@leftitlate37 Last time, the guy at my running club said "it's a bit like wearing a bum bag that's not designed for running... and each week, you add another rock in and try to run with it!" I felt that was quite an apt description for the hubby!!! I also find that waiting to run in the evening, my pelvic floor is nowhere near as strong/capable of holding up to running!
I'd like to say I bounced back last time, but I just used breastfeeding and sleep deprivation as an excuse to eat ALL the food after having my daughter!! Everyone said don't put too much pressure on yourself and be kind to yourself... well, I was too kind! I think at about 12 weeks post partum, I weighed about 9lbs more than I had when I conceived... but I just struggled to lose that... in fact, I put on another 1/2 a stone from being lazy and eating!
But, plenty of people don't do that!! ;-)

Kirky658 · 06/05/2021 15:03

Anyone else constantly starving?! Feel like I can't stop eating I'm so hungry, when I try not to snack I get all grumpy and emotional! Trying to watch my weight and not eat for two but I feel like my little lady wants me to constantly eat!

RaeRae84 · 06/05/2021 15:21

@leftitlate37 massively struggling with the running but for me it's still mainly the breathing. I did manage 6 miles on Saturday which is the most I've managed since January so was happy but since then I've been so shattered I've done no exercise at all. Have a PT session tonight and running with a friend tomorrow so hoping it kick starts me. I'm just so bloody tired.
I got my form at my 20 week scan. I feel like my midwife/maternity team are super on everything. Not chased for anything, everything just seems to get booked and sorted straight away and I get a notification in my app to say I have a new appointment. Good job really as I don't have a clue.
I'm going on early maternity from the start of July. After a really tough year at work with most staff being off for months, I wanted a bit of a summer and me time before the baby. Have told them I'm taking a year off but I'm not really planning on returning if possible!

Rach921 · 06/05/2021 16:07

I didn’t know anything about the mat1b form! I better look into that 🙈

I had my 20 week scan this morning and all was perfect. He was having such a wiggle and kick. He has such long legs! Scan was over half an hour which was amazing as I loved seeing him. When they showed me his fingers and toes, it made me so emotional!

leftitlate37 · 06/05/2021 16:14

haha @SillyBry thts not far off the mark! a rock that increasingly presses on your bladder! im dreading the lack of sleep thing when baby arrives, as i know itll make me wanna eat! I usually sleep really well, but on the rare times i wake in the night im always starving! dreading being up and about and just wanting to scoff, argh! saving grace might be not wanting to disturb the dogs downstairs so maybe that will stop me fridge raiding?!
@Kirky658 i had been! IM finding food not quite as enjoyable now as defo less room for it so dinner time im having to eat smaller portion as otherwise just feel uncomfortable! Defo have waves where some days starving adn others not so bad! trying to behave and eat well (well,....weekdays at least!)
good on you @RaeRae84 thats amazing! 6 miles is great :) id love to do that now, might take me 2 goes and id add my miles together ;)
so strange how it affects us differently as my breathing is the one thing that feels ok - not sure i can now get up enough leg pace to actually breath really hard! good luck with PT and running tomorrow - dont overdo it eh. defo think my 12 miler the otherweek just wiped me out all last week. not such a machine as my brain likes to think!!!
your midwife team sound gr8! an app as well?! im under some continuity of care team, but seen diff person for booking in, week 12 and then week 16! first bit of continuity will be week 25!!! glad u r gonna get early leave - sounds needed and well deserved. u want to enjoy a bit of life and time to prepare etc esp after a tough year. Do u have to go back to work for certain amount of time after mat leave? think we have 3 months else u have to return enhanced mat pay!
congrats @Rach921! so glad u got to see him lots and he was wiggly! can u feel lots of movement? i think we were shocked at his little spine and seeing all that visible, just cant believe what they grow from eh, amazing!

Rach921 · 06/05/2021 16:25

@leftitlate37 I can feel lots of movement now which is nice but also odd! The little spine was amazing. I couldn’t believe how much you could see

RaeRae84 · 06/05/2021 16:32

@leftitlate37 when I was looking at the bump bands, they said it might help the pressure on your bladder. I don't know if this helps you as I remember you saying your baby was on yours!

I haven't got one yet, still debating.
12 miles feels like a long way off for me! I dread to think how long it's going to take to get back up to some decent distance. I'm going to book races for 2022 to encourage me next year!
Yes all my notes are on an app so they just update it when I go in or if they book any of my appointments for jabs etc. If I have concerns, they can add leaflets onto it to read through about anything as well. They seem to be pretty good for a little hospital! Blimey, that's a lot of different people! I don't understand how everyone has it so different. I just assumed everyone followed the same sort of thing. Being pregnant has definitely opened my eyes to that!
No, my company don't offer any maternity package (they try not to employ many women of baby age, think they wrote me off 😆) it's a male dominated place. So just the crap pay but means I don't have to go back. Just going to enjoy a few years with the baby and decide what to do with my life 😊

RaeRae84 · 06/05/2021 16:35

@Rach921the spine was amazing wasn't it! I'm not great at working out what's what so that was at least an easy one!!
I'm jealous of all the movements. I think I felt more weeks ago but now it's really sporadic. I'm 23 weeks so was expecting by now to have quite a bit.

GummyBear91 · 06/05/2021 17:54

My 20 week scan is tomorrow. I'm really excited to see little one again! Baby has been moving around quite a lot in recent weeks which has been so lovely.

Glad you see yours went well @RaeRae84 and @Rach921

For all of you running, you are superstars. I struggled to find any motivation to run before I was pregnant so there's no chance I'm going to take it up now!

SP2Bx · 06/05/2021 18:11

Scan today went great, still team yellow as we didn't want to know so the sonographer told us to look away at one point 💛 Proper little naughty bean, turning away and covering its face, but some bits were incredible 😍 Found out I've got an anterior low placenta which means another scan at 32 weeks to check it's moved out the way... and after moaning I couldn't feel anything earlier in the week, have felt loads of baby movement since coming home from the scan AND dp thinks he just felt it too! Seems so so real now!

Rach921 · 06/05/2021 18:12

@SP2Bx yay!! Love that it went well and that you’ve had some movement 🥰 x

GummyBear91 · 06/05/2021 18:40

@SP2Bx what lovely news. I'm even more excited for tomorrow now Smile

bewitchingnight · 06/05/2021 18:50

Lovely news about the scans, I agree it's amazing seeing how much they've developed! As if we can grow all of that without even having to think about doing it Grin

It's amazing hearing your running stories, I'm so impressed! I've never been good at exercising consistently but last week I went swimming for the first time in years and I loved it. I think because of the weightlessness it was the first time in a while I felt like my "normal" self. I'm going again tomorrow, thought I'd recommend it especially for those of us with sore backs.

RaeRae84 · 06/05/2021 19:03

@GummyBear91 hope all goes well for you tomorrow! 😊
@bewitchingnight glad swimming has helped and you enjoyed it. I planned to go but my pool isn't opening until mid June 😩 I can't fit in my wetsuit to go open water either, bump plus too much food 😂

bewitchingnight · 06/05/2021 19:27

Oh no, that's a shame! I did have to get a maternity swimming costume as my very old one did not cut it!

Kirky658 · 06/05/2021 19:34

@leftitlate37 I'm blaming it on the exercise. As I'm not running as much or as far now (about 4 times a week, 4 miles a time roughly) I'm walking at least 5 miles a day with the dog as well lol!

Went for my whooping cough jab earlier, arm is sore AF now 💪😣

AdventuresAwait · 06/05/2021 19:54

Glad your scans went well @Rach921 and @SP2Bx! Xx

SillyBry · 06/05/2021 21:04

@Kirky658 I felt awful after my whooping cough... only arm ache, but I couldn't sleep on that side for 2 nights!! I hope it gets better for you :-)

I ran 4 miles last night and still felt exhausted at the end... I'm running 3 times a week and 6 miles is my limit now... I expect I'll start jeffing in the next few weeks - and I might be pleasantly surprised that I can go a bit further by slowing right down. We'll see - I'd like to keep going as long as I can. I gave up at 30 weeks with my last pregnancy!

Amazing scan news - so lovely seeing that little baby in there, isn't it? :)

I've had some really violent kicking today - not sure what angle baby is at, but stabbing pains in the belly button and some "fanny daggers"... what a treat!!

SP2Bx · 06/05/2021 21:05

Agreed, runners you are super humans!

@Kirky658 omg I had mine today too and my arm hurts so bad 🙈

Good luck tomorrow @GummyBear91- it's amazing!

CherLW · 06/05/2021 21:17

Anyone at the stage of looking for and buying baby monitors? I am looking in to baby monitors and breast pumps at the moment and as normal with anything baby shopping related there are so many to choose from!!

Kirky658 · 06/05/2021 21:22

@sillybry I slowed right down a couple weeks ago. I noticed my heart rate was spiking to 180 at the end of the runs and it worried me a bit so I slowed it down to 11 mins a mile. Enjoying it more now and able to run up to 5 miles! @sp2bx I'm glad that I'm not just being a baby! Lol

I mentioned to the nurse who did my jab earlier that I keep getting sharp pains in my bum cheeks. She said it sounds like the start of SPD and I should mention it to my midwife. Yay!

crobo87 · 06/05/2021 21:56

@GummyBear91 I have my scan tomorrow too. Hope all goes well.

GummyBear91 · 06/05/2021 21:58

@crobo87 good luck!!!

GWhiteley · 06/05/2021 22:01

Wow @RaeRae84 your app sounds brilliant, we don't have anything like that here in Somerset, it's all paper based!

I'm mightily impressed with those of you that are still exercising I have to say, I try & do a walk round the block a few times a week & hubby is good at getting me out for a mile or two walk at the weekend but that's it! Walking round the supermarket tires me out at the moment!

Did someone say earlier about back pain? I'm right with you 🙋‍♀️ coupled with curvature of the spine & an uncomfortable dining room chair for work the last two days have been agony. Does anyone else feel like if they can get it they will through their pregnancy? 😂

@Rach921 & @SP2Bx so glad the scan went well, it really is amazing what you see while you're there! I found the whole thing quite emotional, but I was in a room full of men so just cried quietly!

@leftitlate37 what about crackers by your bedside? I've woken up so many times in the night starving since being pregnant that they've been my saving grace. We have creaky stairs & my husbands a very light sleeper so that was what I came up with!
