@RaeRae84 I’m not sure who mentioned it on here but when I looked at it I liked the way it could also be flattened out so it’s a bit more of a natural position for the baby to be in.

I struggled with a boys name as myself or the dad don’t have common names so I wanted him to have a name that was a bit different but also not too crazy and not too traditional. I have a middle name set as it was my grandads name but I would ideally like another option for the first name...

RaeRae84 · 07/05/2021 12:19

@CherLW it seemed a good one and we were discussing it for ages with the lady and we did a lot of research so hopefully it's good.

We are the same, have a middle name set,it's actually the surname of my late step dad but can get away with it being a middle name. Every list I find online are just the same names every time. Girls are so much easier!

CherLW · 07/05/2021 12:23

@RaeRae84 it also had really good safety reviews and that’s the main thing really. I was told you couldn’t really go wrong with brands like Joie, Maxi-cosi etc.

Soon a name will just jump out at you and it will be perfect! Annoyingly girls names keep jumping out at me 😂

RaeRae84 · 07/05/2021 12:45

Yes absolutely!
I hope so, this is why I wanted to find out the gender as I knew if it was a boy I would struggle for a name. Currently calling the bump BoJo as everyone keeps asking if we have a name and it was getting annoying so we said yes, calling him Boris after him getting us through the pandemic 😂 they have stopped asking now!

unicornpower · 07/05/2021 12:47

@Kirky658 hope everything is okay love, it may just be a bit of bladder control? i am already struggling with that and don't feel an 'urge'. hopefully its just some watery discharge (only in pregnancy do you wish for that!)

@CherLW I know right, looks a bit grand for me but hes dead set on it and he loves his tech so I'm leaving him to it! He is determined she is going to be an astronaut, he wants a space theme for her room but im overuling with baby animals first haha. What do you think of the Snuz bedside crib? I was looking at the Chicco but i want to go and see them i think. We are struggling with names as both have very different tastes but we've go two front runners atm but they will probably change.

@SP2Bx Thats a good idea about the pump, I hadnt really thought about it before- My friends mum is a lactation consultant and she keeps talking about harvesting milk and it freaks me out lol

SP2Bx · 07/05/2021 13:21

For me I just find girls names too... "sweet" 🙈 I'm not an overly girly girl myself and my partners surname is very short and some names just do not go at all.

We also have a middle name for a boy, so the full name is completely sorted, that's what it is, the end.

But with no middle name for a girl either it's just so difficult! I like the name we have in mind I'm just not completely sold so would like more options... thankfully we have similar taste in nothing too "out there" but not overly traditional either, so that makes it a bit easier.

It's a big responsibility naming a human!

SP2Bx · 07/05/2021 13:22

Sorry @Kirky658 I meant to say hope everything is ok, certainly better to get checked out though I'm sure everything is fine xx

CherLW · 07/05/2021 13:30

@unicornpower I haven’t built the Snuz crib yet but I love the look of it and I know a couple of people who have one and said it’s great! I went for the natural wood one. I’m so fussy when it comes to furniture and that seems to have passed on to picking baby furniture also!

RaeRae84 · 07/05/2021 13:41

@SP2Bx agreed. Huge responsibility!!

leftitlate37 · 07/05/2021 13:57

thanks for the tip @CherLW ill look at that, love some boots points to spend!!
@RaeRae84 yeah think band might be way to go! let me know if u find any decent looking ones with rave reviews! hate spending money on stuff only to find its rubbish! Thats good you have a treadmill :) we bought one of our neighbour who never used it! so its defo handy as u say when u dont want to be miles from home. good luck 2nite, hope it goes well and u enjoy!
haha to all you scanning the credits, we KEEP doing that! but im always like no, no, no, no! we have middle names sorted from family names....how is the first name so hard!!! defo agree girls are easier ;) love your nickname @RaeRae84!!! brilliant!
@unicornpower my friend recommended the tutti bambini crib - v much like the chicco. we got one on FB martetplace at weekend - i mean granted by time we get a new mattress the saving will be less - but feel bad buying new for just 6 months!!

SillyBry · 07/05/2021 14:44

@unicornpower Don't panic too much if you try and harvest colostrom prior to birth... I never had any success with my first (until I went into labour, when I woke up with a wet top!!) But then I managed to breastfeed (and express) very succesfully until I weaned my daughter at 1.

I bought a fairly expensive breast pump - and felt like it was really worthwhile as I did express once a day for a year. I didn't want to waste time getting no milk - but don't panic getting a pump before baby comes, just in case you don't breastfeed. They generally say not to pump until 6 weeks, unless medically necessary, so as to allow your milk to stabilise/not get an oversupply. I had a Medela Swing pump, but lots of people spoke really highly about Hakkaa pumps, which are just a silicone pump that you pop on your spare boob when you are feeding to catch any leakage/letdown. They are really cheap and I think I'll get one this time round :-)

bewitchingnight · 07/05/2021 15:30

Hope everything is ok @Kirky658

I think we've probably chosen her name but will wait and see if it suits her (?!) when she's here. We've got one clear favourite and a second choice and tbh they aren't very similar so hopefully she'll suit one or the other! I definitely found that my husband likes more out there names than I do, I liked his suggestions but I'm not brave enough for some of them!

Carrying on from the movements and high anterior placenta chat from the other day, I'm 22+2 and they feel so much stronger than even a few days ago. But every time my husband comes to put his hand where I can feel her she stops! Can't wait until he can feel as well.

crobo87 · 07/05/2021 15:52

Had my 20 week scan today. Still definitely a boy. 💙
All measurements within normal range except the thigh bone which was below the 5th centile, approx 18 weeks instead of 20.
Could be because of my low Papp-a, or because I’m only 4ft 11
I have another scan on 24th May to check my placenta because of the low Papp & they’ll recheck the length.

Worried but also just hoping he will be small like me.

Bubbles1st · 07/05/2021 16:46

I had my rescan today at 22 weeks and he had turned over so the rest of the measurements could be checked, she said all looked good with him.

However my placenta is still lying to low, so will need to be checked at my growth scans to see if moved.

@crobo87 pleased all seems well with yours and hoping he is just a bit dinky like you!

No one has mentioned any percentiles to us and I'm not sure if the information is there or not in my notes 🤔

OP posts:
crobo87 · 07/05/2021 17:25

@Bubbles1st I had a report and then a growth chart at the back of my notes.

I've had a call from the consultant and I have to go in for a scan on Monday with the fetal medicine team. Anxiety is sky high now 🥺

Bubbles1st · 07/05/2021 17:47

@crobo87 did they offer any additional info on the phone or just book you in. Such a shame to fill you will worry; I hope the weekend so really quickly for you and all Is well

OP posts:
crobo87 · 07/05/2021 17:50

@Bubbles1st they just said it's to do a more in-depth scan. Could be nothing and just has little legs but they want to have a better look at everything x

Mamabearwhere · 07/05/2021 18:01

@Kirky658 I hope everything is okay, let us know how it goes xx

SP2Bx · 07/05/2021 18:23

@crobo87 Sending hugs, what a worry! But I'm sure it's just a precaution and at least it's soon 💙

@Bubbles1st I found out I have an anterior low placenta yesterday too, so another scan at 32 weeks for me to check it's moved!

@SillyBry A friend just told me about the haakaa silicone pumps today, before that I'd been recommended a nature bond one (which is very very similar) but haakaa also do a silicone cup that just sits in your bra and catches your leaks hands free which sounds super handy!

showmorekindness · 07/05/2021 18:29

I also had my 20 week scan today, everything went well and they managed to get all the measurements despite her constantly moving around apparently!

The sonographer said all the measurements are normal. Looking at the percentiles at home she seems to be around 25th for HC and FL but 85th for AC - has anyone else had this, where one of the percentile measurements seems out of keeping with the others?

I'm trying to remind myself they had no concerns at all and I know I'm being overly cautious even thinking about it!

Kirky658 · 07/05/2021 19:05

Hi ladies thank you all for your kind wishes. After 7 hours waiting in MAU they finally deduced that my cervix was firmly closed, I had a lot of discharge so they've swabbed that, but put the wetness down to sweat and excess discharge. Lovely. And the pains I've been having were normal. Heartbeat was 158bpm so very strong. DH had to wait downstairs in the unit, wouldn't let him in, so he's been waiting there all day for me. X

KHR1 · 07/05/2021 19:54

@SP2Bx the haakaa Cup sounds handy!

I keep looking at pumps as I couldn't get my DD to latch at all last time so used a hand pump to express but I never got enough to keep it up. Hoping to try BF again and then get a proper electric pump if not but don't even know where to start

@Kirky658 Glad you've managed to get checked out

GWhiteley · 07/05/2021 20:05

Is anyone just going to have a Moses basket on a stand instead of a bedside crib? We've spent quite a lot of money on the main crib bed, so wanted to keep costs down for when she's first born as she'll only be in it for about 6 months

Kirky658 · 07/05/2021 20:11

@gwhiteley yep moses basket over here. Haven't bought one yet but it will work better in our room than one of the next 2 me cribs x

SillyBry · 07/05/2021 20:15

@KHR1 I didn't buy a pump until baby was 4-5 weeks old last time as I didn't want to waste money on something I wasn't going to need. I had a Medela Swing and it was worth every penny. I used it every day for a year, so it earned it's keep.

I would say it's worth researching open and closed system pumps if you plan to have more than one child... open systems should never be re-used... but you can buy filters on amazon to convert most open systems to closed. Something I wished I'd known the first time round!
