Oh god really? I'm already awake for yonks after getting back into bed!

AdventuresAwait · 05/05/2021 22:26

@GWhiteley, I don't know, it's my first, but I wondered!

Poppysmile · 06/05/2021 06:10

Hi guys haven’t been in here in a while but I woke up with morning to such bad hip pain!!!!, but it goes across my bum to is that right?, I didn’t have a fall yesterday and slid into my bum so I don’t think that helped by hips are just killing me the most anyone been having similar?xxx

Kirky658 · 06/05/2021 06:47

@poppysmile snap. I get this every now and again and woke up in agony this morning. It's like a stabbing pain in my bum cheek x

Poppysmile · 06/05/2021 06:50

Aw it’s just horrible isn’t I couldn’t get back to sleep this morning seems to of eased off slightly now but I hope we don’t get this every morning!!, it’s nice to know I’m not alone, hope your eases up soon xxx

SillyBry · 06/05/2021 06:52

I went running last night, so my hips are screaming this morning! I just got out of bed like an old woman!
I did experiment with using physio tape on my bump for support, which helped a bit. The joys of pregnancy!
I definitely need to wee once in the night already as well - although I wake so many times as I’ve kicked my pillow away and I’m on my back or I’m just uncomfortable. I’m sure pregnancy is designed to prepare us for the broken sleep of having a newborn!

GWhiteley · 06/05/2021 07:12

The whole not being able to sleep on your back thing has driven me a bit nuts. I have a pillow wedged behind me but I still wake up through the night & im half on my side half on my pillow. I also fall asleep best on my right, so although my mid wife was anti right side I split my night half on my right & half on my left

SillyBry · 06/05/2021 07:29

I think it’s generally ok if you wake up on your back, they say just to move back to your side... but it still wakes me up! And I don’t usually snore, but pregnancy makes me snore. So I wake myself up stuck on my back with the noise of me snoring!!! 🤦🏼‍♀️🤣

SP2Bx · 06/05/2021 08:12

@GWhiteley Out of interest why was your midwife so against right side? I know left side is best but I thought any side was better than your back? I'm so much more comfortable on my right, that's where I sleep, although I am a roller too. But again, even if you're at the slightest angle, as long as you aren't completely flat on your back, I heard that's OK. For example you can sleep on your back propped up. So my dreamgenii pillow often saves me as it has a little back support but which stops me going completely flat! Still panics me though everytime I wake up, which is a lot! 🙈

GWhiteley · 06/05/2021 08:39

@SP2Bx she just kept saying left is best. Although she's a nice woman & thorough, she's very opinionated & doesn't seem to venture away from the rules if that makes sense? Plus I read online that the main artery that runs down you spine & is the reason they don't recommend sleeping on your back runs down the right side of the spine, hence the left side sleeping.
She also mentions every time I see her about where I want the baby to be born as she wants me to have a home birth, I've told her several times I want it in the hospital with every drug available but each time she says, well I'll ask you again next time. I'm not going to change my mind!!! I'm 38 & although there's every chance it will all be fine I'm not prepared to risk it & wish she'd respect my decision! Does anyone else have a pushy midwife?

leftitlate37 · 06/05/2021 09:09

hey all! been a good few days since been on here! nice to catch up with posts! Ugh feel the sleeping on the back paranoia! Hubby got me a kally pillow - massive U shaped thing, absolute dream! I LOVE it! can hug it and put my legs over it which helps the hips and backs, started having low back pain this week grrr. SO far avoiding the middle of the night wees but daytime is a diff matter!
oooo when r u meant to get Mat1B form, was it 20 week scan? I havent got anything, maybe i should chase them up...altho seeing them at 25wk i think it is so guess could wait until then but seems a bit late! weve still made NO decision about our leave - has anyone else?!
The only thing i feel we've made progress with is buying a second hand next to me crib, just need to get new mattress sorted now! otherwise i feel we r SO BEHIND!
hows everyones bumps doing? I think minehad a rapid growth spurt at 21 weeks, now looks like a rugby ball on my lower tummy, it's not helping my digestive system at all :S
still finding the movement totally weird and feel bad for not loving it, hes now proper moving i think as had some kicks higher than my belly button which feels so bizarre! Nice to know hes wiggling around in there though although i have to distract myself when hes really active!
Congrats on everyone elses scans and good luck for upcoming ones!
@Kirky658 hope the gender reveal went well, the cake looks ACE! How r u runners finding running? taken a massive downer with me, really struggling now :( hope its temporary. just find it hugely uncomfortable.

Kirky658 · 06/05/2021 09:30

@leftitlate37 running is going OK, slow now and constantly need to pee but getting there! I'm a bit worried bump looks smaller today on this photo than last weeks but it might be because I was constipated last week?! MatB1 form ring your midwife I'm picking mine up today when I have my whooping cough vaccine. I've pretty much made the decision to take a year off. We can afford 9 months so and are very fortunate to have savings so I thought a year might be easier for work to get cover if they decide to do so! Cake was dead yummy hehe x

@gwhiteley my midwife hasn't even discussed birth plans etc with me yet, got my next appt at 23 weeks 2 weeks today. She was against me running to begin with like yours she's quite old school. She's alps a btit dozy and forgets stuff but she's alright.

Scotti84 · 06/05/2021 09:35

@GWhiteley met my midwife yesterday, very nice woman, will only see her one time before the birth, as every normal appt is done by drs here. She said she will lead the birth and the dr just comes in at the end for the last 15 mins. She said nothing is fixed, i can change my mind as i go, but also said she wont offer me an epidural unless she sees that it would help things on, if the baby is big or something but if i cant cope with the pain i can ask for it. I'm leaning towards a water birth now, heard good things from my friends and i feel i can prepare myself enough to do it, being that all goes well. I would not let anyone talk me into a home birth, is this your first? Id be too worried something would happen and the baby wouldnt get the care she needed quick enough.

@leftitlate37 i've been feeling more movement this week too. Sometimes its quite hard and takes me by surprise. Ive been grabbing my other halves hand everytime incase it does come through so he can feel it and yesterday morning she kicked hard enough he could feel it! So happy he can finally experience it with me!

GWhiteley · 06/05/2021 09:46

@Scotti84 As this is my first I'll actually see her a lot from 26 wks onwards (in 3 wks) but she won't be there at the birth as she's based at my drs surgery & not at the hospital. Weird how different trusts do things differently! I won't be letting her try to persuade me otherwise, and if she asks me in 3 weeks time I'll make a point of saying not to ask me again. I have an extremely low pain threshold so will be requesting an epidural as soon as I can have one!

SP2Bx · 06/05/2021 09:47

@GWhiteley Oh no your midwife sounds like a nightmare 🙈 Good on you for standing up to her, don't let her pressure you!

Mine seems alright, met her twice very briefly but she's nice and chatty and seems quite laid back. No serious conversations yet though so let's see how things are when I see her every 3 weeks from 25 weeks!

I have my scan this afternoon, I'm so excited 😁

GWhiteley · 06/05/2021 09:51

@SP2Bx she is nice, and reasonably thorough too as I texted her for my matb1 form this morning & she said I can collect it this afternoon. But the sleeping & birthing parts are gratings a bit.

Ooh fab! Enjoy it as it rushes past & could be your last chance to see them until the birth. Are you going to find out whether it's a boy or girl? I was there over an hr as she wasn't well positioned for them to be able to get some of the measurements 😂

Scotti84 · 06/05/2021 10:20

@GWhiteley im in Germany so they do things massively differently here. Its my first so I've got nothing to compare it to, but having to find my own midwife was unexpected. I get a scan every drs appt though which are now monthly so that's that's definite bonus to being here.

SP2Bx · 06/05/2021 10:30

@GWhiteley yes I've heard it's a longer and more detailed scan! I'd like baby to be still enough that they can check what they need to, but wriggly enough that it takes ages so we can see them for longer 🙊 haha! Not asking much but I have asked really nicely of them through the bump this morning hahaha.

We aren't finding out the gender no, so I need to tell the sonographer straight away as I heard a right horror story the other day where the sonographer let slip the gender by accident!!

@Scotti84 It certainly sounds very different over where you are, but that said, I can't believe how different it is just between different parts of England! Crazy.

GWhiteley · 06/05/2021 10:31

@Scotti84 wow that is totally different! You're so lucky having a scan every month, I'm green with envy!

unicornpower · 06/05/2021 10:51

@GWhiteley your midwife sounds very pushy! well done to you for sticking to your guns, i definitely would've found that hard. I've never been a back sleeper but i keep waking up and I've rolled onto my back! i haven't really been using my pregnancy pillow but think i need to start now.

I do wish my Midwife was a bit more 'on it' I've asked her twice for my MATB1 and i still haven't got it AND she doesn't respond to texts/calls. Can i get it from my GP? I don't want to be a pain but i have to put my maternity request in by 25 weeks and I'm 21 on Monday so time is running away.

good luck @SP2Bx so excited for you!

Me and the dogs are tagging along on DHs work trip next week, hes managed to get an air BNB on the beach so im looking forward to that!

unicornpower · 06/05/2021 10:55

oooo @Bubbles1st can you update the list with me as team pink when you can please? :D

GWhiteley · 06/05/2021 10:59

@SP2Bx we only found out as it made practical sense due to hubby having a daughter from a previous relationship & a tonne of her old stuff is in the loft! But only my step daughter & our parents know, so it'll be a surprise for everyone else when she gets here 😊

@unicornpower she is a bit, but I'm very clear about what I want & have been from the start so she's not going to change my mind!
Unfortunately I have a feeling only she can do it. However, my midwife is part of a team & I can speak to any of them if needs be, do you have that same thing where you are? Just thinking you could call & speak to one of them about it instead if you're getting nowhere with your midwife. You could send her a strongly worded message about your timescales as well?

GWhiteley · 06/05/2021 11:01

@Bubbles1st please can I be added too? I'm due on the 3rd sept & we're having a girl 💗

leftitlate37 · 06/05/2021 11:08

Oh my gosh good point @unicornpower! Totally forgot they needed telling 15 mins before and my next appt not due til 25 weeks! Argh I better ring mine and find out....so annoying as the hosp is like 25 mins away grrrr. Wish gp could do it!
Tagging onto dh work trip sounds good ;)
We are mean dog parents and are putting ours in kennels and having a weekend away....I hate leaving for them! But might be last kid and dog free night we have for next 20 year haha.

SillyBry · 06/05/2021 11:16

@leftitlate37 You need to submit your MatB1 before 25 weeks to work, so do get it before your next appointment. I just rang my GP and requested it - the midwife left it for me to pick up.
I've found running SO hard this week... it's all bouncing on my bladder and feels like baby is practically weighing down on me down there!
A friend told me she swears by KT tape and it made exercise SO much easier in pregnancy. I tried it last night and it definitely helped lift the weight and make it less painful, so I'd definitely recommend it!
Some great suggestions here:

@SP2Bx First time round, my midwife kept telling me I was low risk and perfect for a home birth or at the local birthing centre. I shut it down very quickly, by saying "I'm quite risk averse and seeing as noone can predict what will happen in labour, I'd rather have the reassurance of a labour ward up the corridor." That was the end of the conversation!
I birthed in the birthing centre attached to the main hospital still, with no need for the labour ward/monitoring etc, but I felt much happier knowing that if there were complications, I didn't have to get blue lighted 30 minutes to the hospital!!
