I went to my 20 week scan with a full bladder but as she was laying face down was told to go empty it and jump about to get her to move.

On pushchairs, we've just bought a Bergsteiger Milano, not sure if they are just in europe or in England too, but it comes with interchangeable seats, for the different ages and the seat comes out to fit in the car too.

On a different note, and maybe a daft question, what do I dress her in on a night? We have sleep sacks, but is that and a vest enough or should i put her in long armed tops? Or with a blanket? And does she need a pillow or just lay flat? I feel like these are things that should be obvious, but it was my 2am cant sleep thoughts this morning 🙈

RaeRae84 · 02/05/2021 16:36

I think last year when I had my MC, I had a lot of scans done vaginally because I never filled my bladder enough that I've gone the opposite this time round. Has made it uncomfortable in scans because I'm so desperate for a wee 🙈
Thanks @SillyBry when I went this morning I picked up the baby carrier. I wanted something pretty heavy duty that would last as plan on using it a lot for walking. Can't cope with the wrap ones as I would get it wrong. Tried it out with a doll in the shop and it felt nice. Will look into the running buggy too.
Got our car seat today so feel like that's the hardest choice made!
@Scotti84 I watched the free mamas and papas online course/chat on sleep. I do recommend it as I have no clue about anything and did have loads of advice from 3 different experts. They definitely said nothing in the cot, no pillows/bumpers. It depends on the temperature in the room as to how many layers from memory. I did write it all down because I am terrible at remembering anything at the moment but the info was great I thought.

showmorekindness · 02/05/2021 17:50

Thanks everyone, I always drink too much water before scans and end up bursting! @AdventuresAwait my scan is this Friday, can't wait to see her again!

SP2Bx · 02/05/2021 17:59

@Scotti84 Look up the Baby Academy UK on Facebook (or even just online as wasn't a FB thing!), they run a free 2hr course online which covers soooo many things I thought I knew/should be straight forward like first baths, and changing nappies/clothes, and sleeping! But I learnt loads of little tips and tricks.

Definitely nothing in the cot, completely flat just on a fitted sheet, in a sleeping bag or with a blanket, feet right to the bottom of the cot so they can't wriggle down under blankets or anything. Layers they said general rule of thumb is one more layer than you need in any situation.

Really recommend the course though, I think a few on here have done it now :)

SillyBry · 02/05/2021 18:23

@RaeRae84 this website is a great resource for all this things buggy running: www.runningbuggies.com/
Wendy doesn’t sell them anymore, but has loads of info about running etc/what makes a good buggy!
The original buggy runners/active with kids Facebook group is also great for like minded parents and help!

showmorekindness · 02/05/2021 18:43

Thanks for the recommendation @SP2Bx I've just signed up to the free breastfeeding and baby safety workshops, they sound great

RaeRae84 · 02/05/2021 19:10

Thank you @SillyBry just signed up to the group 😊

Scotti84 · 02/05/2021 20:01

@RaeRae84 @SP2Bx thanks for the tips guys, i'll deffo look into them! Just kind of realised theres things i think should be obvious but i actually have no clue! Love how much stuff is available online, its just knowing where to find them!

CherLW · 02/05/2021 20:16

@Scotti84 I did the feee Baby Academy UK course and I also did the breast feeding one... both free and both so good! I enjoyed them so much I’ve paid abs signed up to the full courses.

I understand what you mean when it comes to babies and sleeping! I was stuck knowing what tog to get for the baby sleeping bags! There are also so many to choose from but I went for Snuz and Grobag are also good I’ve heard x

RaeRae84 · 02/05/2021 20:23

@Scotti84 I literally know nothing about kids so nothing is obvious to me! I did the baby academy one as well. I literally have been joining all the free courses so understand as much as poss. I'm doing the NCT classes in the summer as well. I know you learn a lot as you go but would rather be armed with some knowledge at least. DH hasn't a clue either so at least we are learning together!

SillyBry · 02/05/2021 20:56

If it helps, you’d think I’d know what I was doing as I already have a 4 year old... but it all seems such a distant memory! 🤣🤣

CherLW · 02/05/2021 21:04

Has anyone got any suggestions on places to go or pages online to look at for hypnobirthing?
Thanks in advance 😊

Bubbles1st · 02/05/2021 21:28

@CherLW I think quite a few of us signed up to the positive birth company, I personally haven't started it yet but I did join the group and enjoying reading all the birth stories.

Anyway they have a special offer this weekend.

Anyone else suffering with cramp? I've had the worst calf cramp today and can't get rid of it. Tried having a bath, stretching & massaging it but it's still really painful

CherLW · 03/05/2021 10:01

Thank you @Bubbles1st I’ll definitely have a look into that, looks good from the image you posted 😊

Taybz · 03/05/2021 11:00

@SP2Bx I've just looked at the Venicci, it looks lovely - must add that that also to my list!

@RadDarwazeh I've been feeling small bubbly movements every morning now since the 20wk scan but as I have an anterior placenta, apparently I'll feel bigger movements later than those with non-anterior placenta.

@leftitlate37 oh no! Weight and manoeuvrability are very important for us, I hope the egg wasn't that bad. I've really been obsessing over it 😅

showmorekindness · 03/05/2021 16:18

@Taybz @leftitlate37 we've just got home from pram shopping today, mainly to compare iCandy and Egg2. I've also been obsessing over the Egg and was slightly disappointed that the iCandy felt easier to push. Overall though I think I still prefer the Egg... although heavier, it looks smaller and (in my opinion) nicer. One of the big pros for me is how easy it is to lift the carrycot off the Egg compared to the iCandy. Recommend giving it a try in person to see what you prefer though.

deedeebythesea · 03/05/2021 16:43

Hi ladies, hope you are having a lovely bank holiday monday! @showmorekindness we also went pram shopping today! It was a little overwhelming but I think we have found the one. We went to Mamas & Papas. There is only a small showroom near us and they stock a smaller selection of prams which meant I didn't get to try two out of four I had on my list. But the girl who was helping us choose was really quite good. She pointed a few things about our lifestyle that I didn't take into consideration whilst looking for prams online. All in all, it was super useful to have a proper taster and speak to someone who know about more than one model (most of my friends were like "Definitely THIS ONE! Because we have it and it's good" or "100% get THIS ONE, it's the best on the market".. obviously all of them are talking about completely different prams). Same goes for car seats!

Squibble84 · 03/05/2021 17:52

I ate parmiaggano regiano Parmesan today, I didn’t realise that that particular type of Parmesan isn’t pasteurised! I try and be so careful as well. A quick google seems to say it’s ok but I’m still annoyed at myself!

Hopefulmummie · 03/05/2021 18:12

Hey.. Not sure if anyone is similar but I don't like when people ask what they can buy you as don't like telling them something incase it's over what they wanted to spend.
So I found this wishlist website where you can list things you need/want with the price on it and send it to people and if they buy it they can tick it off. It's really handy

www.thingstogetme.com/

SP2Bx · 03/05/2021 18:14

@Squibble84 I wouldn't worry, I had to have a check myself as I was sure you could eat hard cheeses regardless...

September 2021 Thread 5 (half way there!)
CherLW · 03/05/2021 18:29

@Squibble84 I wouldn’t worry, I think it’s mainly as a precaution. I ate some pate about a week ago and completely forgot I couldn’t have it!! It’s just the worry isn’t it!

I’m having a little worry myself.... I’ve been having a weird feeling in my tummy since yesterday lunch time and it feels like it’s vibrations a little just near my belly button, just on me off but it feels like the baby is purring in a way! I’ve had it before but I keep thinking is this normal?? Anyone else had similar?
I’ve been feeling definite movements alongside this feeling also 🤷🏻‍♀️

CherLW · 03/05/2021 18:31

What an excellent idea @Hopefulmummie I’ll definitely look into that as I feel the same! Some of my family and friends have said ‘let me know what you want’ and I just say I want things from about £6-£250!! I think I’ll see if people want to give me money and I’ll get the things I need that way

Hopefulmummie · 03/05/2021 18:47

@CherLW yeah I was the same and I think people actually want to buy something as its nice to say they got that so thought it was really handy. I've put things on it from all different price ranges

Catkin7 · 03/05/2021 18:57

Hi @Bubbles1st we found out last week we are having a baby girl 💖
Everything went great at the scan, the lady said she had no worries at all.
However, when I went through the measurements at home I noticed that the head was a lot smaller 5th or 6th percentile. All other measurements were normal or above normal. Anyone else had this? Messaged my midwife and waiting for a reply, I shouldn’t worry because the sonographer Didn’t mention it...however the measurements seem weird. Sorry to ramble.
