I am exactly the same as you @CherylLW & @RaeRae84. There is some movement - I feel "flutters" or "bubbles" a lot more often now and for prolonged periods at a time. However, nowhere near kicks. Trying not to worry and keep reminding myself it can happen anytime between 21-24 weeks. Plus anterior placenta is not helping. The other day I had a glass of Coke with ice - he obviously didn't like it and started moving around. Now I am constantly thinking what can I eat/drink to get him moving again!

As for the weight gain, I have no idea how much I've already put on but must be quite a bit. I have fought body image issues for as long as I remember and finally reached a good place around 4 years ago. Not letting extra pounds get to me by wearing nicely fitting maternity clothes which highlight the bump. But what actually makes me happy is .... the boobs! It's like a free boob job on NHS 😂 Love the look and size of them (DH not complaining either haha)

Bubbles1st · 27/04/2021 20:51

@AdventuresAwait not yet which is what I think doesn't help, I have to wait for a letter but it has to be before 23 weeks, so within 2 hopefully.

I know it's an extra sneak peak and it will be great just wish the weight was lifted today.

@Kirky658 hope your scan goes well 🥰. What time is it? I’ve personally never bothered with the NCT classes but have read about people making friends etc. Zoom would put me off all the more!

deedeebythesea · 27/04/2021 21:26

@Bubbles1st not an ideal situation to be in but hope you keep focusing on the positives! I know it is easier said than done. Did you find the sonographer helpful and reassuring? Everything she did manage to measure looked good? Thinking of you and keeping fingers crossed the letter will arrive in no time ❤️

AdventuresAwait · 27/04/2021 21:42

@Bubbles1st, yes I'm sure - there's a big build up to the day emotionally, isn't there? So it is disappointing. Sending hugs to you and hoping the letter will come quickly so you know the date soon xx

2021mumma · 27/04/2021 21:52

@Kirky658 my nct class just moved to zoom also (I had already booked) don’t think it will be as good but my friend who had her baby 6 months ago did all hers by zoom and said it was good, they set up WhatsApp and have met a few times now restrictions have lifted. I just want an amazing maternity leave year with lots of friends like last time I hope this doesn’t disappoint x

Bubbles1st · 27/04/2021 21:57

@deedeebythesea yes the sonographer was lovely, said it was really common for second scans to be needed. Said everything she could check was normal. I guess the being sent to another hospital for a clearer image is what is most unsettling but I fully understand that my bmi is making it harder to see as at 12 weeks it was also mentioned

deedeebythesea · 27/04/2021 22:41

@2021mumma when is your NCT booked for? Mine is in July but I haven’t heard anything about it being moved online (yet)

Kirky658 · 28/04/2021 06:17

@deedeebythesea i read last night they're hoping to keep all July ones online. I guess they're waiting for all restrictions to lift end of June - ours is due to start 21st June. We are mainly doing them to meet new parents like us but bit worried they'll be a lot older than us and it would have been a waste of money! But at least we'd hopefully learn a lot more than we know now...

RaeRae84 · 28/04/2021 07:52

@deedeebythesea I've been trying to concentrate on the movements whenever I eat/drink something just to see if he reacts! Nothing that I've noticed as yet. Also totally agree about the boobs! I've had to give in and get new bras as my others were so uncomfortable. DH keeps saying I can have a boob job after breastfeeding is done 😂

I hope my NCT classes don't get moved online, I really would benefit more from in person. I've had to book a late class as I couldn't make the dates of the earlier ones so hoping that works in my favour. Who knows with the covid situation though 😩

SP2Bx · 28/04/2021 07:59

Good luck for your scan today @Kirky658 !

We're not bothering with NCT classes. I'm just hoping to join some mother and baby groups once baby is here to meet new people, I've started to see them get up and running again now.

Allicit · 28/04/2021 08:13

@Squibble84 I feel like an old lady who can’t figure out how to pm you for the Facebook group! Did it work?? x

Kirky658 · 28/04/2021 08:47

@sp2bx thanks lovely. Not sure how I'm gonna manage working till 2:30 😂

unicornpower · 28/04/2021 08:49

good luck for your scan today @Kirky658 please keep us posted xxx

Noodles4Me · 28/04/2021 08:52

@SP2Bx same. Not spending a fortune to spend yet more time on bloody Zoom Confused

I'm definitely going to join some groups, hopefully face-to-face when the baby is here, I like idea of baby massage Smile

Mamabearwhere · 28/04/2021 09:25

Omg woken up with the biggest scanxiety for my 20 week scan next week (I’ll actually be 21 weeks). All of a sudden all of the worst negative thoughts running through my head. I even just called my hospital hoping for a last minute cancellation to try being my appointment to this week but obviously no luck. So hard to keep busy and distracted. Next 7 days going to drag!

AdventuresAwait · 28/04/2021 09:48

@Kirky658, all the best for today!

@SP2Bx, that's my plan too. Not going to sign up to NCT classes but will look for baby groups to join in my area.
@Noodles4Me, baby massage sounds great x

AdventuresAwait · 28/04/2021 09:52

I understand @Mamabearwhere! I'll be 21+1 for mine on Friday and it can't come quick enough. I have been a bit emotional the past 2 days and I'm sure it's probably underlying scanxiety.
Staying busy and distracted is good & I'm also trying to focus on our excitement of seeing baby again 😊

unicornpower · 28/04/2021 10:24

@Mamabearwhere and @AdventuresAwait I am the same, i was fine up until yesterday when my countdown said '7 days to go!' and now i'm convinced something is wrong. i keep analysing my bump, movements (or lack of!) and just playing through scan scenarios in my head ughhh.

I hope you both get on well though! i feel your pain!

Krista1991 · 28/04/2021 11:29

Hello.Can I join this September group?🥰🤰🏼

I am 20 weeks now and yesterday I’ve had my anomaly scan,it’s a girl and perfectly healthy baby 🙏😄😊

Just my placenta is very low and I was booked for another scan to check the placenta at 32 weeks,so hopefully it will move up a bit and doesn’t need to do a c-section.

Hope everyone is good here 🤰🏼

AdventuresAwait · 28/04/2021 11:31

Welcome and Congratulations @Krista1991!

Scotti84 · 28/04/2021 11:39

@Mamabearwhere @AdventuresAwait @unicornpower I was the same, freaking out like nothing. I sleep in most mornings as I'm still tired a lot, but the day of the scan I was awake at 6am. Fell asleep as we drove back home. I wish I could say something to reassure you, but I think its unfortunately just part of the journey. I still lay there on the scan table and freak out internally until i see her on the scan, I know she's not going to just disappear or anything like that, but it's the worry that does strange things to the brain. I just kept talking to her on the way there, and trusting that everything is ok. What I do find helpful is once you're there the sonographer isn't worried at all, it's so regular to them that nothing is wrong it does help ease the nerves. I always thought ok I will stop worrying after the 20 week scan, but i just find new things to worry about! I think it will be this way until she's born, and then ill start with a whole other load of worries. I can see why people with kids usually look older than people without, and I'm sure my gray hairs have multiplied!

Good look and positive thoughts to everyone with upcoming scans xxx

Sceptre86 · 28/04/2021 11:51

@Kirky658 hope it all goes well for you today x

Mamabearwhere · 28/04/2021 12:15

@Scotti84 so true, there’s always something to worry about. I know that fingers crossed it all goes well at the scan I will be ok for a short while before panicking about something else, about the what ifs. I still worry about my older kids, I think it’s the package that comes with motherhood title.

AdventuresAwait · 28/04/2021 12:30

Thanks @Scotti84, that's really reassuring. Really trying to hold onto my excitement and suppress the nerves but, like you said, it's probably quite normal to be nervous and part of the journey. It's a big thing as it's such a detailed scan x
