Congratulations on finding out @CobleCloud! So glad your scan went well. I've got mine this week and starting to feel some nerves xx

Kirky658 · 26/04/2021 16:08

@coblecloud yayyyy congrats! I've got mine on Wednesday 😬

Can I ask a very personal question to you all. Have you been weighing yourself and, if so, how much have you put on so far? I'm 20 weeks on weds and weighed myself today and I've put about 11lb on so far and feel enormous. It's making me feel a bit sad as I was so trim, muscly and skinny before pregnancy I feel like I won't ever get my figure back! Don't get me wrong though I'm loving my bump just finding body image a bit difficult as I just feel like I look like I've eaten far too much x

Bubbles1st · 26/04/2021 16:41

@CobleCloud congrats and I will add you when I next update; maybe tomorrow if I get a chance.

@Kirky658 I'm 20+3 and I've put on 8lbs. I however am bigger and really can't afford to put to much. So whilst I'm trying not to worry about it as I just want a healthy baby, I am very conscious that it may be more in the second half and that makes me feel uncomfortable. Trying to avoid unnecessary snacks is proving near on impossible.

If you were a healthy weight to start with I really wouldn't worry, it seems well within the guidelines I've seen online.

Congrats @CobleCloud
@Kirky658 I'm 19 weeks tomorrow and have put on a stone. I've always been quite athletic with a slim build. I never really considered this part of pregnancy, where you don't have a big obvious bump, you just look bigger than usual. I'm also finding the body changes challenging. I think it'll actually get easier as weeks go by as bump will be more pronounced. Try to not think about getting your figure back, when you're good and ready I'm sure you'll be able to, and who knows, it may not feel as important to you then as it might do now. It's all such a mind field, we're all just working our way through the best we can ☺️ x

CobleCloud · 26/04/2021 17:26

Thanks everyone! And no problem @Bubbles1st

I haven't weighed myself at all.. Ive struggle with my weight and body image prior to pregnancy so have in my notes the midwife and hospital can weigh me but I never need to know. It is hard I am struggling as my body changes and just trying to be sensible.. x

Jay3004 · 26/04/2021 18:11

@Kirky658 I’m usually a fairly slim build and I’ve put on a stone so far (19 weeks). It’s reassuring to see that most of you are the same as I thought I was way out from looking online!

KHR1 · 26/04/2021 18:17

@SP2Bx I've had a lot of on and off lower back pain from quite early on. I've found propping up on a few cushions helps a bit if I'm sat down a long time but nothing seems to help long term.

Squibble84 · 26/04/2021 18:22

@CobleCloud congrats on the scan! Another boy! 💙

@Kirky658 I’ve put on over a stone. I never lost lots of my baby weight from DD1 either as we started ttc again when I was 6 months post partum I’m so I’m 2 stone over my pre baby weight! I don’t recognise my body anymore!

Kirky658 · 26/04/2021 18:27

@bubbles1st @bluemagicalsky @coblecloud @jay3004 @squibble84 thanks ladies that's really helped, seems we are all in a similar position such is great 😊 xx

SP2Bx · 26/04/2021 19:32

I just weighed myself out of interest - haven't really bothered to so far as I don't want to worry about it - and since my booking appointment have LOST a kg 😳 A few people have said to me that despite my growing bump my face etc look like they've slimmed down, but because I feel myself getting bigger I thought they were just being polite!

I don't know how I feel about that :/ Seems great on the surface but, I hope baby is growing/putting on the weight it needs to?! Anyone else in the same situation or have been before?

To everyone else I don't think anyone's weight gain sounds out of what's expected! @Kirky658 with your activity levels and by the sounds of it physique going into this pregnancy, I have no doubt you'll snap back in no time! Also, the smaller you are to begin with the more weight you're expected to gain from everything I've seen online (while desperately googling my situation!), so just try to stay off those scales ❤️

Moominmiss · 26/04/2021 20:01

Oooh can I be added!

I’m due 20th September (but will be earlier due to a c section).

We’re having a boy 💙

Noodles4Me · 26/04/2021 20:02

@Kirky658 I don't weigh myself generally as weight isn't a good measure.. for instance (tmi) once did a pee and was 2lbs lighter!

My knickers are now tight so I know my arse has expanded....no bloody baby there though so god knows why! Blush

Moominmiss · 26/04/2021 20:03

Oh and I have my 20 week scan this week so keeping everything crossed that things are still looking ok.

We had a private nipt test at 13 weeks, then the nhs scan at 14 weeks, and most recently a private well-being scan at 16+6.

Kirky658 · 26/04/2021 20:08

@Noodles4Me my knickers are tight too and I feel like my ass is huge 😂
@sp2bx thanks hun, yeah I think with my running etc I'm hopeful I'll lose it quickly. I don't wanna buy more clothes haha 😂 if you're worried about your weight maybe have a chat with the midwife to see if they can reassure you.
@moominmiss When's your scan? Mine is Wednesday at 3:30 x

Mamabearwhere · 26/04/2021 20:12

@Kirky658 I’ve been weighing myself almost weekly since finding out. So far I’ve put on 8kg which sounds crazy. However I put on the bulk of my weight with both previous pregnancies in the first half of pregnancy and then slowed down a fair bit. I tend to put on about 13-15 kg. However I am only 5ft 1 and 50kg pre pregnancy so I suppose I do need to put something on. Although I did mostly eat crap carbs for the first 14 weeks until nausea passed.

Last week I started doing 25 mins of pregnancy Pilates workouts 3/4 times a week just to make sure my muscles aren’t getting lazy ( I tend to get really bad stomach muscle separation) so have been advised to do Pilates throughout pregnancy.

D0nut · 26/04/2021 20:17

@Mamabearwhere Pilates sounds good! What do you use? I’d love to start Pilates or yoga. Would love to check out anyone’s recommendations.

Mamabearwhere · 26/04/2021 20:22

I use this video/channel. I found the workout tough (in a good way) and felt like I had done something rather than yoga which I love but is more “relaxing”.

D0nut · 26/04/2021 20:54

Thanks so much @Mamabearwhere! I’ll give it a go!

SillyBry · 26/04/2021 21:19

I'm 21 weeks tomorrow and have put on a stone so far. I feel huge compared to pregnancy 1, but I'm running between 2 and 4 times a week and keeping active. Just starving hungry most of the time!!

MrsTD88 · 26/04/2021 21:20

@SP2Bx I have also lost weight since my booking appt. All in I've lost 3kg but I am on the heavier side so can afford to, the midwife didn't seem concerned at all and said it is probably because I had terrible nausea until 16 weeks and I've cut out my biggest guilty pleasure... wine! The same happened with my daughter, I lost up until about 20 weeks and then gained a few stone in the last 20 weeks. Try not to worry I'm sure baby is growing perfectly.

showmorekindness · 26/04/2021 21:34

@SP2Bx I am still about 3 pounds lighter than my pre-pregnancy weight (due to nausea in first trimester so not eating a lot) and I think I'm about the same as I was at my booking appointment.

I would also prefer to be gaining weight as a sign baby is growing but from what I've read not gaining weight is also normal at this stage. I definitely feel bigger, although I don't have a proper bump yet.

AdventuresAwait · 26/04/2021 21:52

@Moominmiss, I have my 20 week scan this week too! Excited but nervous. We also had a private scan a few weeks ago so hoping all is still OK xx

Allicit · 27/04/2021 07:41

I’ve also lost weight. A few kg since 12 weeks. And I’m lighter than pre pregnancy. I was also a little heavier (not massively) so no ones worried as I’m not underweight now and baby is growing as he should. Mine is due to gd diagnosis so I’m on a pretty strict diet.

SP2Bx · 27/04/2021 07:56

@Allicit @showmorekindness @MrsTD88 Thank you for showing me I'm not alone! I too have weight I could afford to lose and am nowhere near being underweight, so maybe that's the difference!

Good luck to those with scans this week!

Rach921 · 27/04/2021 08:10

@Kirky658 I’m 18+5 and I’ve put on 6lb. I’m like you that I’m struggling mentally with that as I was slim and very active pre pregnancy. I’m still keeping active (not running as much as you as I’d had a break before I fell pregnant) by walking lots, doing weights/yoga/hiit. I know it’s all part of the course but gaining weight does stress me out. I used to weigh myself daily pre pregnancy but I’m hiding the scales now so I don’t torture myself xx
