@AdventuresAwait Thank you so much, we are very excited!

AdventuresAwait · 10/04/2021 10:22

@sarahlw5, we are having a girl too! Is it your first?

Mamabearwhere · 10/04/2021 10:23

I’m really breathless but weirdly even when I’m sitting down, it feels like the breathlessness you feel when lying on your back towards the later part of pregnancy. It’s very strange and I’m annoyed I forgot to ask the midwife about it yesterday.

Kirky658 · 10/04/2021 11:19

@sarahlw5 congrats! I'm hoping for a girl but DH doesn't mind ♥️

Kirky658 · 10/04/2021 11:22

Are these breathing function tests a normal part of the midwife led care? I've got asthma so just curious. I told her I was still running and exercising regularly so perhaps that's why she didn't bother?

sarahlw5 · 10/04/2021 11:23

@AdventuresAwait Yes this is our first, is this yours?

sarahlw5 · 10/04/2021 11:24

@Kirky658 Thank you! We were hoping for a girl so very excited. Are you going to find out what you are having?

Squibble84 · 10/04/2021 11:44

Hope everyone is feeling ok today! DD1 was up from 12-4am last night, I feel wrecked and still suffering from sickness, it was gone this time with my last pregnancy! 😭

@Kirky658 they start doing the breath tests at the 20 week appointment here, it probably varies by area.

@sarahlw5 welcome and congratulations on finding out you’re having a girl, very exciting!

We’ve had a few more people pop up recently so if anyone wants to join the Facebook group as well, just let me know!

CherylLW · 10/04/2021 12:00

Does anyone go online and look at lots of clothes and things for the baby and then get too overwhelmed by it all and end up buying nothing!! That’s me all the time! I’m hoping it’ll be more decisive when the shops open!

Also I see something really cute so think oh I’ll get that for an up to one month size and then I feel sad that he will grow out of it and the outfit is so cute 🙈

AdventuresAwait · 10/04/2021 12:22

@Kirky658, yes the carbon monoxide tests are routine here. 16 weeks appointment and then at following appointments. My midwife said it has picked up faulty boilers etc.

@sarahlw5, yes my first too! Exciting. I'm 39 and got married last year. Wasn't sure I'd ever be a Mum so I'm thrilled. How many weeks are you? I'm 18+2. I'll be 21+1 at my 20 week scan so still 3 weeks away.

Mamabearwhere · 10/04/2021 12:34

@Kirky658 yes they’ve done it at every appointment so far including my booking appointment. I don’t remember ever doing it with previous two pregnancies though so not sure if it’s a new thing.

@CherylLW omg yes this is me all the time. I keep adding loads of cute stuff to my basket and then abandon ship because it gets so overwhelming. I’m also trying to be practical with not buying too much because I still have my baby girl clothes that hardly got worn. They end up living in basics

CherylLW · 10/04/2021 13:06

@Mamabearwhere I’m glad I’m not the only one! I have al the shops websites open on my phone with things in the baskets but I never buy it 😂. I think what stops me is the ages I’ll need for clothes.... it confuses me as there is first size and then up to one month... I’m thinking maybe a few first size and then a few more up to one month 🤷🏻‍♀️.
This is my first baby so I have nothing, 20 week scan is Friday tho so maybe that will give me the boost I need!

Kirky658 · 10/04/2021 13:10

@sarahlw5 yes we are so excited to find our, 2 weeks on Wednesday 😆

Ps we have finally finished the nursery ladies!

Interesting on the breath samples, I wonder if my area has different rules perhaps.

Very cute @Kirky658 😍

I had the breath thing at my 12 week scan and 16 week appointment. One was 0 and one was 1. I’m in the south

AdventuresAwait · 10/04/2021 14:25

@Kirky658 - Wow, your nursery is so lovely! It looks great xx

Re. The carbon monoxide test, I'm in the south too so maybe it is regional. My result was 2. Not sure why it was 2 (and not 0) but she said below 4 was fine.

FTEngineerM · 10/04/2021 14:41

Love the nursery decor @Kirky658

I have had one CO2 check once this preg not sure if I’ll have anymore though most appointments are on the phone.

Anyone getting braxton hicks already?! It’s totally take me by surprise, after some Googling it can happen any time but you feel it more later on Shock I’m only 17+6.

FTEngineerM · 10/04/2021 14:43

Congratulations on finding out you’re having a girl @sarahlw5 🥳

CherylLW · 10/04/2021 17:46

@RadDarwazeh sharing bump pics could be a good idea on here... in one of the earlier threads a few ladies put there’s on and it was good to see any similarities 😊

KHR1 · 10/04/2021 18:02

Your nursery looks so cute @Kirky658!

We do the carbon monoxide tests here but not sure when they start doing it

sarahlw5 · 10/04/2021 18:08

@Squibble84 Thank you!

@AdventuresAwait Oh that's exciting and congrats! I'm 28 and the husband is 25 but we got married 3 years ago and left it up to fate to see if it would happen...turns out it did and we didn't find out until I was already 13 weeks! Oh not far behind you I'm 17+6 today

@Kirky658 Not long to wait now, how exciting...oh and the nursery looks adorable by the way!

Sceptre86 · 10/04/2021 20:03

@sarahlw5 congratulations on your baby girl! So exciting for you.
@Kirky658 the nursery look gorgeous, we had an animal theme with our dd and when she got a bit bigger she would babble to the animals.
Your scan is on the same day as mine, is it a gender scan or 20 week scan? Have you got an inkling as to the baby's sex?
@RadDarwazeh I think that would be nice. I always think it is amazing how we all carry so differently.
@CherylLW I am the same. We had a small age gap between our older two children and the big purchases are well used. I would like to buy a new high chair as the old ones seat is tatty and torn but dh thinks we should just try to find a cover for it (they aren't all a universal size) so this is easier said than done. I need to go through everything and see what can be reused or what needs to be bought.

On another note for those of you who have had a consultant appointment was it in person or over those phone. My midwife mentioned that mne might be over the phone but haven't heard from the hospital. I will probably try to contact them next week to find out.

Kirky658 · 10/04/2021 20:15

@sceptre86 aww scan twinnies! It's the 20 week scan and hopefully find out the gender that day too. Ps I have a consultant appt 27th May that is at the hospital. So cute about your little one babbling at the animals too 😍 I'm certain I'm having a girl for some reason!
I've just had the teeniest tiniest bit of pink discharge, scared me to death. We did the deed earlier so wondering if it was that - and perhaps too soon after the thrush incident!

AdventuresAwait · 10/04/2021 20:24

@Sceptre86, my consultant appointment was in person at the hospital. Had my appointment at 13 weeks and have another appointment arranged for 36 weeks which is when I see her next (unless there's any reason to see her again beforehand).

Mamabearwhere · 10/04/2021 21:02

Thought I’d share a funny conversation with my kids just now. My 6 and 4 year old wanted to know how the baby will come out of my tummy, I asked them how they thought he will come out and my 4 year old said through mummy’s mouth Grin (logically makes sense since that’s how things get into your tummy) - I then told them how babies really come out and they were in disbelief haha and asked if that’s how they both came out too and when I said yes they were both so disgusted it was hilarious. Grin oh to be an innocent child again haha

Maybe I shouldn’t have told them the truth given their age but they’ve been asking for so long I didn’t want to keep dodging the question.

Squibble84 · 10/04/2021 21:37

Haha that’s cute that they’re asking about the baby though! I asked my 18 month old a few days ago where the baby was and she pointed to my belly and gave it a kiss!
