@KHR1 thank you, that's good to know they answered all of your questions.

@Bubbles1st it sounds as if they are taking very good care of you. I feel clueless as I had none of this the first time round so it is quite daunting at the moment but hoping after Monday I'll feel a lot of more positive.

@Kirky658 sorry to hear you are having a tough time. I think it is really important we normalise feeling overwhelmed im pregnancy that's why I love Mumsnet. Feeding etc is such a personal choice and you may change your mind throughout. I honestly think there is no right or wrong. I breastfed for a little while and it just didn't work out so moved on to formula. I am considering trying breastfeeding again but I won't be so devastated this time if it doesn't work out.

@crobo87 have they discussed labour options with you yet? My appointment is face to face, I feel over the phone would save so much time though as it is just a discussion at this point as far as I know.

@Maybebaby29 how did you find your elective section? It sounds like they are taking great care of you. How exciting baby and hubby could share a birthday! I'm not totally against VBAC I'm just a bit daunted by it at the moment but I think chatting it through with the consultant may change my mind. I'm terrified of having to be induced again so hoping that is off the table.

@CherylLW that must have been so scary for you, glad everything is okay with you and baby. I'd love a home birth if I could, it seems to relaxed.

MrsTD88 · 09/04/2021 14:51

@Mammabearwhere that is so strange isn't it! I've never heard of this before, could it maybe be a faulty test? Was the midwife concerned?

crobo87 · 09/04/2021 14:52

@MrsTD88 not yet no. I haven't heard anything

CherylLW · 09/04/2021 15:01

Thank you for the message @MrsTD88 It’s hard as we naturally just think the worst but my mind is at rest now after seeing them.
I’ve said no to a home birth, mainly as I live in a flat and would feel sorry for the neighbours! I’m definitely considering the maternity centre tho, it was lovely and relaxing when I was there today!

Mamabearwhere · 09/04/2021 15:36

@MrsTD88 she told me it’s strange and that I should check for a gas leak at home but offered no more information when I asked what if I don’t have a gas leak. She didn’t seem to know. She’s referred me to the “stop smoking” team which is ridiculous.

Maybebaby29 · 09/04/2021 15:46

@MrsTD88 apparently they said to me if you’ve had a previous section they won’t induce you because there’s more risk of rupturing if they do, I’m not sure why!
I found it really good! I had to go in at 7:30 in the morning on a ward with other ladies waiting for an elective. We had to wait around for our turn to come along, they don’t give you an initial time when you turn up as they obviously prioritise the emergencies first. My hubby was allowed to stay with me all day, they gave me a time an hour or so before it was my time. I was wheeled down in my bed, got changed into surgery gowns, it was really relaxed! The anethatist (however you spell it) was sat in the corner eating a yoghurt while I was in surgery. 🙈 he came out perfect and we was wheeled into the recovery room, where me and hubby both had skin to skin with him. Then after a while I was wheeled back onto the ward. As soon as my epidural wore off i was up and about, jo where near as sore as I was with my emcs. I stayed in for the night then went home the next day. It was a totally different experience to my emcs

AdventuresAwait · 09/04/2021 16:22

@Mamabearwhere, I had that test at my appointment too. Could the midwife maybe do it again to see if it was a false reading? I don't know much about it but just a thought.

Mamabearwhere · 09/04/2021 16:26

@AdventuresAwait yes I did think that too so asked her to do it again and same result. I might call on Monday and ask if I can go in again and do another one because I’d be really concerned if it’s still high.

Geegee20 · 09/04/2021 16:32

Hey ladies!
Does anyone else think they had a obvious bump after the first month but doesnt seem like it's gotten much bigger. Well its.me, am 16+ 2 today- my partner thinks am going rounder now. Butni think am staying the same as I have been past few weeks x

AdventuresAwait · 09/04/2021 16:32

@Mamabearwhere, yes good idea. Strange isn't it? Sorry I have no other advice. But would do like you said & ask her to repeat it once more. Hard to know who else to ask for advice as usually it is the midwife...

MrsTD88 · 09/04/2021 18:04

@CherylLW I am glad your mind is ar rest. Haha that would be an experience for them! The maternity centre sounds fab as it is less clinical.

@Mamabearwhere that's terrible, I can't believe she would send you there when you are a non-smoker that's ridiculous! I think you're right to request a re-test, it could have been a faulty test.

@Maybebaby29 that sounds incredibly relaxed. What a lovely experience, I love that your anaesthetist was so chilled too. Thank you so much for sharing ❤

Squibble84 · 09/04/2021 18:37

@Mamabearwhere this exact thing happened to me with my last pregnancy! I’d had 2 previous breath tests where I’d scored a 1 and a 2 and then randomly I had one where it came out as a 6! I did everything you did, got the boiler and my car checked, bought a C02 alarm and just generally panicked!

I went back the next week to retest and it came out as a 2, the midwife wasn’t concerned, in fact her first question was had I been painting, as apparently that can raise your levels, especially if you’re using a high voc paint. The air pollution where you live can affect it, I even read somewhere that if you’re anxious and have been shallow breathing, that can raise levels as well (something to do with oxygen saturation levels I think, I can’t remember exactly why now) The midwife also said she’d seen levels well into double figures so 6 isn’t massively high compared to what it would be if you were smoking.

I would push for a retest for your piece of mind and I’m sure you’ll have a normal level when you retest. I’d also be questioning them on why they were referring you to the stop smoking team if you’re a non-smoker, that seems a bit strange!

Over the course of my pregnancy I scored 1,2,3,4 and 6 so it was so varied and I dreaded taking them! I now have a scarily smart 18 month old who is bright as a button so I really wouldn’t worry about a one-off high score!

Taybz · 09/04/2021 18:42

Wow I feel like I've missed so much here after a few days!

@Kirky658 I'm sorry to hear you're struggling hun. I think when you're a ftm there's so much to be overwhelmed by. Like you, I've wanted this for so long yet I wonder if we're truly ready and constantly worry. Please remember we're all here for a chat though if and when you need it 💜

@Mamabearwhere I've had the exact same experience as you. Despite Dh and I never having smoked and not being in any smoking environments, my reading came back as triple the normal amount! We panicked, got National Grid to check carbon monoxide and they said it was at 0. We were still so worried and got a carbon monoxide alarm and checker for the house. Nothing put my mind at ease except my recent appointment with my consultant. She did the reading and it was 0. I told her my experience and she said it must have been a faulty reading as there are quite a few faulty readers at health centres and GPs. Shocking! This is probably the case with you too. Can you get another reading elsewhere perhaps in a hospital? I can't believe you were referred to a Stop Smoking service. 🙄

FTEngineerM · 09/04/2021 18:48

@Mamabearwhere did she refer you to the stop smoking team even though you don’t smoke? Hmm

Mamabearwhere · 09/04/2021 19:00

@Squibble84 and @Taybz I’m so glad to hear similar stories as haven’t stopped worrying today. I think you’re right it might have been a faulty machine. I don’t think it’s anything to do with me as I’ve been at home for the last few days and only trip has been to the midwife appointment in my own car which was 10 minute drive. To be honest the midwife generally had a very laissez-faire attitude and was unhelpful when I asked further questions about why I need to be referred to the stop smoking team. She just said they’d be able to answer my questions better than she can...bizarre. I’ll definitely call around tomorrow to see where I can go to get another test. I should have asked her to do a test on herself to check the machine.

Mamabearwhere · 09/04/2021 19:01

@FTEngineerM yes! I told her but I have never smoked neither does any partner but she reckons they’d answer my questions on why/how I got a 6 reading.

FTEngineerM · 09/04/2021 19:21

Maybe my brain has broken @Mamabearwhere but I can’t see why she did that so illogical 🤦🏽‍♀️. Deffo get a retest if it’s worrying you, as if we haven’t got enough to think about whilst preg!

AdventuresAwait · 09/04/2021 19:53

I have been getting little pains here and there today. I'm sure they're OK but have the occasional little worry. Also, I think I might be feeling some little movements but I'm not sure... just want to know for definite.
Have got a cold so maybe I'm just feeling a bit rough and thinking things through too much while I'm resting. I'm sure I'll feel reassured when I know it's movements I'm feeling... xx

Kirky658 · 09/04/2021 20:08

Thanks for your support ladies it means a lot.
I've just been very silly and laid on my bump very very briefly while I was applying the transfer stickers to the nursery walls and now I'm panicking because I feel a bit sore on my tummy 😭

RadDarwazeh · 09/04/2021 22:11

@Geegee20 I feel the same. But it just looks like I've had a big dinner now.

Anyone happy to share bump pics on here? Just for fun I know we will all be different.

@kirky658 where did you get the decals from? Don't worry the bump has lots of fluid and support around the baby remember

Kirky658 · 10/04/2021 07:27

@raddarwazeh all seems OK this morning so I will just be more careful now! We got them off etsy 😊

sarahlw5 · 10/04/2021 08:45

Hi everyone!
Hope you don't mind me jumping in the group, seen all that chat about how many boys are in this group...we had a private scan on Tuesday when I was 17+2 and after about 20 minutes of me having to flip around the bed and dance around the room our little one finally revealed itself to be a little girl! Can already tell she is going to be a little princess!
We have our 20 week scan booked in 3 weeks but we are so impatient and couldn't wait to find out!

unicornpower · 10/04/2021 09:07

Hey ladies, sorry I've been quiet, I'm back at work so it's completely taking it out of me!

Is anyone else a bit uncomfortable when they walk? I'm fine when im resting or pottering about but when I walk the dog I get like a discomfort/wind type cramp like around my pubic bone? It eases off if I walk really slow and its not there at all any other time- is this happening to anyone else?

I've got my midwife on Tuesday so I'll ask her but just thought id see if anyone else is having the same xxx

Sillysocks998 · 10/04/2021 09:13

@unicornpower hey 👋
No pain on waking but definately breathlessness and I'm just generally walking around like an old woman. Lol. I don't walk as much as I use to. I'm waiting for it to get warmer. I've been extra cold since pregnancy.
Also the pain I had when I'm trying to pass a number 2, it must be similar to labour as I'm shouting ouch. 😂😂😂 TMI. But it's true 🤪. I feel that pain everywhere in pelvic area and sides. Hope that helps lol

AdventuresAwait · 10/04/2021 09:47

@sarahlw5, yay! Congratulations on your scan and finding out you're having a girl xx
