@Taybz I'm not buying yet. Way too early. I've not even parted with my old clothes in a charity bag! I feel like I should be going on these antenatal classes and organising my house and buying things. But I won't until after 20 week scan. I work in education so maybe may half term where I'll do a lot of my sorting out.

I like the glass bottles, no smells, hygiene, look cleaner and there are some advantages apparently about vitamins and vaccum. Check Dr browns bottles out. They have this straw in to reduce gas bubbles. Not sure how it works. But I was looking at glass bottles. I'm going to wait until nearer May half term to actually purchase anything and only sticking with the basics of what I actually need.

Poppins2016 · 05/04/2021 20:56

@Sillysocks998 I'm certain that one of my (three) cats knows. She is much more of a lap cat when I'm pregnant (the other two, both male, don't seem to be bothered). She was with me throughout labour (until I went to hospital) last time, only popping out for a short loo break. It was amazing! Can't wait to see what she does this time...
Your cat might still surprise you!

@Kirky658 I really like Aldi Mamia nappies, I only buy other brands in emergencies (and then wince at the prices)! I also really like their wipes.

@taybz to be honest we won't be buying anything else yet. We got the stuff today as it was cheap! We will be waiting till 20 weeks now unless we see any really amazing deals.

Scotti84 · 05/04/2021 21:43

Congrats on the boys!

I've cleaned out my wardrobe today, packed a few things away that wont fit over summer and put it in storage. Got a few maternity bits, but not gone overboard, already nicked my other halves trackies for around the house. We've bought a few bits, but mainly cos there was a huge sale on so thought it made sense to get stuff that had the most discount, ended up saving a fair bit.

Sillysocks998 · 05/04/2021 21:45

@Poppins2016
Awww that's cute. I hope she does realise lol. She is pretty affectionate and I sung to her yesterday and she was really feeling the love from me whilst on my lap. Totally made up song about the day lol. But good tune, she fell asleep 🎶😂.

I asked my husband, were first time parents, about values. What were his most important values to give to our child. Are these realistically implemented if done so with a plan? How have mums already got on with this? What are everyone's top 3 values?

Mamabearwhere · 05/04/2021 22:04

@Taybz I haven’t bought anything either even though I really want to. But like you I just find boys clothes so difficult to buy. I need to dig up all my baby girl clothes as I’m sure I probably have enough white basics for the first few months. Ever time I go online to order some stuff I just get bit overwhelmed yet equally underwhelmed (if that even makes sense) and end up buying nothing.

On the glass bottle front, I’m considering buying them this time round but I’m still not sure if that’s going to cause some unwanted broken bottle accidents. I seem to remember bottles falling a lot and I have ceramic floors downstairs so I’m undecided.

Taybz · 05/04/2021 22:50

Aah I'm so relieved I'm not the only one 😅 my 20 wk scan is at the end of the month so it's a little while until then. I've noticed there are some Easter sales so will have a look at clothes. Girls, any ideas for prams? I'm thinking of the lightest one possible but I do love the iCandy although it's quite heavy.

Noodles4Me · 05/04/2021 23:00

Can anyone tell me why NCT classes? What will they give me that the Internet doesn't (since all online)?

Lots of lovely boy clothes in Tesco btw but I have resisted...

Squibble84 · 06/04/2021 06:41

@Noodles4Me I didn’t find the Nct classes taught me anything I couldn’t have read in a book but my reason for going to them was to meet other mums. There was 8 of us in the group in total and 7 of us still meet up (or did pre-lockdown!) and one has become one of my closest friends. The course is expensive but if you want to meet other mums, it’s worth it.

Mamabearwhere · 06/04/2021 07:59

What @Squibble84 said. With my first baby I thought nah no need will just read books and online and not too fussed about making new mum friends as I had a very good close set of friends but little did I know life will change once baby comes and unless you have mum friends in your local area it can be very lonely times especially if your normal friends don’t have kids. So I’d say it’s definitely worth it for meeting other mums in your area. I’m definitely doing it this time round.

Noodles4Me · 06/04/2021 08:31

Cheers ladies, as I thought. As it's all online currently I'll not bother as it's no different to being here. Hopefully when the baby goes to nursery when I'm back at work there'll be other parents there to chat with...who knows?

I've got mum friends and my neighbour is due a few weeks before me so we've started bonding.

Of course, may change my mind if some face-to-face classes ever become available Smile

Kirky658 · 06/04/2021 08:33

@Noodles4Me same for me, my neighbour is due in May so will be nice to have someone with a slightly older baby so I can copy her haha 🤣

Squibble84 · 06/04/2021 08:44

You can always go to local mum and baby groups as well to meet mums - I made another good friend at the baby massage group I went to when DD1 was tiny x

RaeRae84 · 06/04/2021 09:07

I'm still waiting for my 20 week scan before I buy anything! It's next Thursday and I can't wait. Although I feel like it's going to be a boy as it seems like the trend! The only thing I have purchased is a book and classes.
I am booking an NCT one and it's saying it will be in person. It's not until august as I couldn't make all the July dates so I'm hopeful it won't be changed to an online class. I know it's not super cheap but I feel like it will be good for me and DH.
I didn't even realise there were glass bottles so that great! Anything to reduce plastic is good!

I'm stuck on prams too but I've booked a slot at mamas and papas for next month and got some recommendations of other places to go to. I hate online shopping for this stuff!

Clouless · 06/04/2021 09:40

Congratulations to everyone finding out the gender. So many gorgeous boys! 💙 We are planning to keep it a surprise. Not bought anything yet- still worried I will somehow jinx it. Always exciting on a Tuesday as I go up a week! 16 weeks today.

bluemagicalsky · 06/04/2021 10:24

@Clouless I'm 16 weeks today too!

FTEngineerM · 06/04/2021 11:06

There’s a September 21 group on peanut too for those looking to meets mams in your area/chat, I think the app has gone wild during the pandemic. Could always join it now whilst you prep for September.

bluemagicalsky · 06/04/2021 12:01

Thanks @FTEngineerM I've downloaded ☺️

Noodles4Me · 06/04/2021 12:02

@Squibble84 I'd definitely be up for some baby massage classes if they have them. Good idea Smile

Clouless · 06/04/2021 12:34
@Clouless I'm 16 weeks today too!
Oh yay! Congratulations! How are you feeling?

bluemagicalsky · 06/04/2021 13:03

@Clouless Feeling soo much better these days, still have random bouts of feeling a bit sick but actually feeling myself most of the time which is a relief! How about you? Got my 16 week appointment on Thursday

Clouless · 06/04/2021 13:23

@bluemagicalsky
Glad you're feeling better. I still feel sick sometimes too- usually after meals. Still have a horrible taste in my mouth most of the time though. It's my 16 week appointment on Thursday too!

bluemagicalsky · 06/04/2021 13:30

@Clouless ah can't imagine the horrible taste, feeling very lucky to have not had that symptom! Hope it goes for you soon and hope we both get to hear the heartbeat Thursday! 🤞🏼

Clouless · 06/04/2021 13:55

@bluemagicalsky thank you. I just keep a massive tub of chewing gum with me at all times! Oh it would be lovely to hear the heartbeat although on my Bounty app this morning I'm sure it said that hearing it isn't standard practise anymore :( .
