@CherylLW me too, I love the fact you can zoom to their actual size every week it surprises me how big they are.

It probably was @AdventuresAwait how exciting 😀.

Taybz · 01/04/2021 09:16

Ladies, on another note..does anyone else feel that private scans are too short? Went to Window to the Womb for my early scan and the experience was lovely but the scan felt rushed. 5 minutes literally. I wanted to see my little bubba for longer. My 12 week scan was at least a good 10 minutes and the sonographer explained everything on the screen so well, especially when I told her it was my first and totally clueless. I'm about to book Window to the Womb again for the gender scan and called them to ask if this would be longer but was told it'd be 5 minutes again with a longer time to choose pics, extras etc.

AdventuresAwait · 01/04/2021 09:25

@Taybz, I know what you mean, they are very quick however I found them better than my 12 week scan experience. 12 week scan felt very quick, pointed to spine and heart & that was it I think. In and out quickly. I didn't have the screening so maybe that's why. Literally just confirmed my due date & not much explanation. My private scans at 8 and 10 weeks were lovely. Explained everything and very friendly. But yes, about 5 to 10 mins max. But got pictures and some short video clips sent straight to my phone.
Got a gender scan tomorrow so will see how that is & maybe my 20 week anatomy scan will seem different and a bit longer. But this is my first so I don't know.

mumof23188 · 01/04/2021 09:31

@AdventuresAwait I agree with you there. My 12 week scan was so quick and I had the screening. Just showed me the heartbeat and said everything was looking perfect. I do find that private scans are short too but a far better experience. What time is your gender scan tomorrow? 😁

deedeebythesea · 01/04/2021 09:59

My 12w scan was über long, to a degree that I started feeling bad for taking up so much for their time. At first, baba was on its side facing away from the tummy, which meant we could only see its bottom, back and back of the head. Sonographer ask me to get up and jump on the spot and side to side. No change. Then she asked me to lift my bum and wiggle my hips, again no result. That carried on for good 15-20 minutes until baba decided to move, only this time it was to the top of the womb facing downwards. Sonographer managed to take all the measurement etc and take pictures too, but had to flip them upside down to make them look as standard. I bet you girl this is a sign of things to come. One naughty child. My mother reckons its backpack for the way I behaved as a baby haha

Scotti84 · 01/04/2021 10:09

@Maybebaby29 congrats on your boy!!!

@Taybz I feel flutters now and then but not convinced it's always baby, I wake up in the night and think I can feel her moving but in the morning I'm never sure if it was real or I just dreamt it. Can't wait until the real kicks start!

deedeebythesea · 01/04/2021 10:14

@Noodles4Me I am also 18w+4 with a seriously sizeable bump, but no movements. Keep thinking I have felt something or other (especially just before going to bed) but there is no consistency in the way it feels or the same feeling never repeats itself, and as it's my first successful pregnancy I have no idea what to look out for. Very frustrating.

I mentioned earlier on here that the midwife didn't use doppler at my 16w appt (although I know for sure she could have done as my colleague who is also pregnant goes to the same midwifery hub and heard her baby's heartbeat at 16w). Still on the fence whether to buy one. SIL is saying it adds to your worries if you can't find the heartbeat straight away, and one shouldn't rely solely on the doppler, as baby's movements are equally important. However, I am quite level headed and can only see benefits to having one. Which brand would you recommend? I found such a wide price range online and reviews are not too helpful either.

AdventuresAwait · 01/04/2021 10:21

@mumof23188, it is at 10am! Nervous and excited ☺

Kirky658 · 01/04/2021 10:47

Morning ladies, all good for my 16 week check. Got to listen to the heartbeat which was amazing ❤️ sounded like a train!!

AdventuresAwait · 01/04/2021 11:03

Oh lovely @Kirky658! Glad all went well and you heard the heartbeat ❤

Taybz · 01/04/2021 11:24

@deedeebythesea that gave me a right giggle sorry 😃you've definitely a cheeky baby on the way!

@Kirky658 that's lovely! Was it at the hospital or a health centre? My 16wk appointment is at the end of the month when I'm almost 19 weeks! I didn't know they let you hear the 💓

Re: nhs scan lengths, it seems it depends on your hospital I guess. Sorry to hear some of your 12wk scans were rushed, they really should take more care of us preggers ladies, especially when it's our first and we're already stress-cases!

Taybz · 01/04/2021 11:25

@Scotti84 me too, can't wait to feel the little kicks and fists! Honestly I can't wait till September 😆

CherylLW · 01/04/2021 12:33

@AdventuresAwait I always think was that a movement or just my stomach being my stomach 🤦🏻‍♀️ I’m sure I convince myself when I’m half asleep that I’m feeling things!
I’ve got my 20 week scan 2 weeks tomorrow so I’ll ask then also.

@FTEngineerM I like that too, always make him full size and hold against my tummy!! I always try to buy the fruit that he is each week too!

@Kirky658 really happy for you, so glad you got to hear the little heartbeat ❤️

SP2Bx · 01/04/2021 12:37

Great news @Kirky658 ! How lovely for you 🥰 and good luck tomorrow @AdventuresAwait !!!

Another boy @Maybebaby29 !! This is getting crazy now haha 💙

My 12 week scan was lovely. A good 10 mins and we saw so much and the sonographer was so nice - I also have a naughty baby @deedeebythesea , arms up to face, wriggling, turned away from us and flipped over onto its belly and buried its head in the side 🙈 I couldn't believe how much movement there was and yet I couldn't feel a thing... WEIRD

16 week check on Tues when I'll be 15+6... would be lovely to hear heartbeat but appreciate it might be a little too soon.

Anyone else have days where (other than the nausea) they forget they're pregnant?!?!

Kirky658 · 01/04/2021 12:38

@taybz it was at my midwife clinic at my gp surgery apparently some trusts don't listen to the heartbeat as it can be difficult to find and cause stress for the mum. Mine took a bit of moving the doppler round but she managed it! She says I should start feeling movement soon too I can't wait xx

SP2Bx · 01/04/2021 12:39

@CherylLW LOVE that idea of buying the fruit every week - might pinch that! 🙊 I use the app to make them full size and hold them to my stomach too. Can't believe how big they are and yet I can't feel them... freaks me outtttt

Squibble84 · 01/04/2021 13:13

Lots of chat about movement today! I actually spoke to my midwife this morning as after feeling very definite baby movements about 10 days ago, I’ve had nothing since. She said it’s normal at this stage to go long periods without feeling them and she didn’t seem concerned. Can’t wait until 20 week scan though, I wish we could have got a private one as going 2 months between seeing if baby is ok is excruciating!!

Kirky658 · 01/04/2021 13:28

@squibble84 mine said the same to me this morning. And I said the same to her about the 8 weeks between scans! I feel like I can't get excited until I know everything is OK at the 20 weeks scan. But hearing a strong heartbeat today has made me feel loads happier x

Hopefulmummie · 01/04/2021 16:36

Had my 16 week midwife appointment today and got to hear baby's heartbeat 🥰 was amazing to hear it x

CherylLW · 01/04/2021 16:45

@Hopefulmummie that’s great news, glad you got to hear it, it’s such a shame that they don’t do it everywhere as it’s so lovely!

@SP2Bx definitely, it’s cute! This week it was a pomegranate and it’s massive! Thinking something similar size is in my tummy and I can’t feel a thing! Freaks me out too 😂

Kirky658 · 01/04/2021 16:52

@hopefulmummie I heard mine today too, snap ❤️

Poppins2016 · 01/04/2021 18:05

@deedeebythesea if it makes you feel any better, I'm 17+5 with my second so I know what movements feel like and I'm still at an inconsistent stage with feeling movements despite everyone telling me I'd feel them much earlier because it's my second! I know I've definitely felt a few little baby kicks and flutters, but it's very inconsistent and the rest of the time I'm thinking "is that just wind"?! 🤣

Might be a really daft question, but do they move about your whole stomach or stay at one side? The last two scans i had, she was laying to the right and south side of my belly button so will she stay there? Or do they move over? I keep touching and talking to that spot but i have no idea if shes still hanging out or doing some exploring?

At this stage they're so little that it's easy to move around and it was probably coincidence that she was in the same spot for both scans. Having said that, as the babies get bigger and space gets trickier, they do tend to favour certain spots... DS really liked to hang out on the right hand side during late pregnancy last time (yes, it did look a bit weird)!

Hey Ladies I found you all again. I've just read 11 pages! Wow it feels like you've all progressed so much. I'm 15 weeks today. Gender /Reassurance scan next Friday. First MW 2 weeks Friday. So a couple of things going on.

For dry skin / stretch marks on tummy I use mama mio.. But I'm thinking of using the jar of coconut oil once this runs out. Slap that everywhere on my belly. Will be cheaper and I am sure hydrating!

Im so scared about labour. Appreciate everyone is different. I have no idea what elective, vbac, etc all are. I worry about tears the biggest I think.

I've got mad cravings for cola. Don't drink this at all. But just want the gassy bubbles alot. I've got a round tummy. I hope to learn the gender next Friday. Will keep you posted xx
