What did you order @RustyCat? I’m getting excited about the nursery - bought some paint on the weekend and think we’re going to do an IKEA order too - although the chest of drawers I want are sold out! Can’t wait until shops are back open - I really want to go shopping with my mum and just get excited with her as it’s her first grandchild.

@hereforallthehelp ordered a changing table, tall set of drawers and a box storage unit (wooden one with like plastic boxes that slide in/out). We already have a wardrobe and the cots.

I'm gutted we couldn't go and snoop in person (sodding covid!!) I do genuinely feel like we are all (as in all pregnant women) are missing out because of covid. I think the only person bar DH and my neighbor to see me pregnant is my boss. Other than that no one's seen me in person pregnant like my family.

@RustyCat yeah I totally agree. It’s so weird being 6 months pregnant and have only seen my parents about 3 times outside - and they only live 15 mins down the road - if I think about it too much it gets me down - especially not seeing friends for over a year that won’t see me pregnant / next time I’ll see them will be with a baby - it’s crazy!

I’m hoping the shops open before May - currently debating buying a travel system on John Lewis as they have a £100 gift card when you spend over £500 which is pretty good deal - have you bought yours yet? It’s a real minefield I’m finding!!

Hey everyone how are you all doing, finally jumped over from the old chat :)
I'm 25+4 today, and last night my OH felt his first kick!!! My baby is super awkward and stops everytime you touch the bump. Even worse was my midwife appointment on Wednesday morning when she kept finding the heart beat and baby would move so she gave up in the end and said baby is clearly super healthy and from what I did hear heartbeat is strong 🙈🤣

@Serz88 mine does the same! He'll be kicking away and as soon as my husband tries to feel...completely calm. So frustrating Grin I promise he was just doing it!

Hi @thefishthatcould wish :) do you know what you are having?
@lucymagoo it's so annoying isn't it! Was like we had won the lottery the other day when he finally felt it!

Oh lovely, no we are keeping it a surprise, it's so hard not finding out though! Everyone is convinced it is a girl though, my dad keeps saying she 😂

Hello Ladies! Funny thing to hear about the kicking stopping when the daddy touches the belly, exactly the same here! I wonder how do they know. We did manage him to feel a few kicks after having the hand on me for 15 min, but it's tricky otherwise! Have you bought loads of things already? We are thinking of using the john lewis offer that someone mentioned and get the car seat and pushchair, which will be the most expensive items I think. We have the cot so far and a few clothes that family offered for Xmas. I hope you are All feeling well

We also had the opposite experience the other day which was just magical, my husband went right up to my tummy and said hi to the baby, and he kicked right after as if to say hi back. They were back and forth about 5 times in a row with him talking and the baby kicking a reply, I couldn't believe it! ShockSmile

Possibly a coincidence but it felt like they were communicating 😂 also if my husband puts his head on my lap while we watch tv the baby will start kicking him in the back of the head, he could feel it tonight and was like "oh I thought that was you moving!" Grin

@lucymagoo aww that is amazing!

DH FINALLY felt the twins lastnight. They were kicking off like mad and I MADE him keep his damn hand on my belly for more than 2 seconds and he got a swift kick 🤣. Freaked him out a bit I think and then he kept coming back to feel them again.

I lost count of how many times I had said to be patient and put your hand there for more than 2 seconds as they aren't constantly kicking.

How is everyone doing?

@Finallybfp omg the pins and needles in my hands is horrible! Sometimes it's just one or two fingers but most of the time it's my whole hands, super annoying!

@RustyCat - reassuring knowing other people have had this aswell.
When are you due? Do you know what the gender of your baby is ?
I’ve chosen to wait until the day I meet my little one to see whether I’m team pink or blue 💙💗Smilex

Not sure on where people are from on here but has anyone else been advised to not work from 28 weeks if you can’t work from home or if you work in a office or something where your not working face to face with others?
I work in a nursery in the under twos room. I am wearing a mask all day at work for some protection but I can’t social distance in my job.

Re pins and needles in hands you can develop carpal tunnel in pregnancy I believe.

@Finallybfp my job as pre school lead means from 28 weeks I’m working from home as I can’t socially distance.

Work have to provide you with an alternative role where you can be safe or if not pay you full pay and stay home.

@thefishthatcouldwish I have had a little meeting with my managers his week updating her about the government guidance I found online and advice my midwife has given me. I work in a private nursery. She said she will look into it for me and speak to the area manager about what my options are then get back to me . I’m from Northumberland . Where abouts are you from ? Smile

Report
thefishthatcouldwish · 13/02/2021 21:35

Am in Wales @Finallybfp but it didn’t matter it’s the same guidance. You have to be offered an alternative at full pay.

You shouldn’t be told to start May leave early or anything like that.

If you have problems are you in a Union? They will be very helpful if you do.

Report
Finallybfp · 13/02/2021 21:40

@thefishthatcouldwish - I’m not in a union I don’t think. I’m just hoping my work place look after me.

Technically my 'due date' is 17th May but the twins are very likely to come before this 😊
