Positive stories after a MMC?

Hi ladies

I suffered a MMC yesterday at 9+5 and really feel like I need some positive stories to get me through this time. It was my first pregnancy and I fell first cycle trying. I'm waiting on next steps but hoping to have either surgery or medical management in the next week and would then be keen to start trying again. I know the advice to wait for a fresh cycle but i don't believe there is any evidence it is higher risk not to, and it is more to help time the pregnancy. Obviously we won't start trying until I get negative tests.

Does anyone has any positive stories after a MMC and falling again successfully and quickly?

Sorry appreciate this is a highly selfish post! Just feel I need something positive to focus on...

Xx

Hi, just a quick positive story for you. I personally needed these too after my one. 12 week scan on 7th February 2020 received the bad news. Fell pregnant next month. Holding him right now. Good luck.

AMS19 · 02/01/2021 07:20

@Flittingaboutagain @Jobsharenightmare thanks both. Maybe I'll try one more time and if I have another miscarriage start doing more detailed research into seeing someone. I'll avoid the baby aspirin for now though

@squellyolwelly @Happyasbarry thanks both so much. These stories help so much. Praying I follow suit and can update this thread at the end of this year with super positive news to help other ladies. Mentaly not sure how I would be coping without all these positive stories xx

Thank you from me too @Happyasbarry @Squellyolwelly - especially happy stories after surgery as I'm scared that if I go for surgery it will mess up my ability to get pregnant again.

Hope you're feeling ok today @AMS19 and all you other lovely ladies?

Won't it be lovely to read all our own positive stories one day xx

AMS19 · 02/01/2021 10:51

Let's pray @glowingtwig xx

Hi ladies. These positive stories have been amazing as I have also recently miscarried. I hope you dont mind me jumping in for advice. I was 5+5 when I miscarried and bled for 5 days. The red bleeding has now finished and cramping has stopped but I am spotting a little brown blood. Took a FRER this morning and got a squinter of a line so do not think my hcg is back to 0 just yet but not far off. My question is when is it safe to start having intercourse again? Should I wait till all brown spotting has finished and/or a completely negative preg test? Or would you say i am safe to go now? Really dont want to wait to try again.

Flittingaboutagain · 02/01/2021 23:50

@CookieMonster3001 sorry for your loss. I waited until I had a negative test and bleeding stopped after a scan showed up clear because I was worried about infection and then another miscarriage. But I was 7 weeks further on so maybe advice is different. What did GP/EPU advise?

DMT1982 · 03/01/2021 07:48

@CookieMonster3001 sorry you’re going through this. I had a loss at the same time and didn’t wait to start trying again and got pregnant straight away BUT miscarriaged again at 9.5 weeks. On reflection I wonder whether I hadn’t let my body recover and get rid of everything which may have led to the second miscarriage but I’ll never know. When I went to EPU after the loss they recommended I wait until my first period but also said that’s for dating purposes more than anything. It’s a personal choice whether to wait for your next period or not however having been through a second loss I would always wait now xxx

AMS19 · 03/01/2021 07:54

@CookieMonster3001 hi. So sorry to hear what you went through. My consultant told me no sex for 2 weeks or until there was no bleeding, whichever is later. If there is still any bleeding risk of infection is very high. After that is was totally totally fine. I'm personally waiting for negative tests too, because ive heard from a few women on here who has squinters but still positive, and then it started to increase and they didn't know if it was retained tissue or a new pregnancy. I cant deal with that stress, so I'm personally waiting until it is negative on a FRER, as that sensitivity is 6 and 5 or below is negative; my EPU said.

We have a live support thread for women experiencing a MC/MMC which you've very welcome to join. The ladies are all lovely and we are supporting each other through this

Thanks for the advice ladies!! My GP was pretty useless tbh. I had to push and push for her to book me in for a scan with EPU as they refused, so I have that tomorrow hopefully to confirm everything is gone and I will be asking them when its safe to start again too. After pushing, the GP just booked the appt and gave me a slip that said the date and time and put urine (I assume 1st morning urine I need to take) 1 adult (assume I need to go alone) and water (no idea what this refers to). Does this mean I need to go with a full bladder for the USS (again which she put and I can only assume it means ultrasound scan?)
@dmt1982 I am so sorry for your 2nd loss that must have been heartbreaking.
Thank you @AMS19 I will certainly have a look! I am quite lucky my mc was pretty straightforward and just like a heavy period.
I am nervous about trying again but also its the only thing keeping me going!

AMS19 · 03/01/2021 11:22

@CookieMonster3001 wow that is really unhelpful! I would have thought your scan would know internal. They won't be able to ensure all the small bits are gone externally, and you don't need a full bladder for internal. But i guess go with a full bladder and then you can always empty it when there!
Hope it all goes well for you xx

Sorry to read your story @CookieMonster3001

I too was very eager to get going again after my mc in August (I felt being pregnant again was the only thing that would help me get over it) but in hindsight it was too soon. I had a mc at 5 weeks a few years ago and felt the same but it actually took me 6 months to fall pregnant with my little girl - had fallen second cycle with the mc.

This time round I'm going to wait a few months before getting back to the serious ttc - although we will probably just not be careful leading up. I won't be letting DH anywhere near me until a week after bleeding has stopped though. I've no idea how long this will take as I'm still waiting for medical management or surgical. Sad

Update:

Because I promised to come back and update this thread in case any other ladies read it.

It took me 5 cycles to fall pregnant again, but was extra blessed to find out it was twins. My perfect little rainbow boys were born January this year. For anyone reading this, whilst you will never forget your experience, when you hold your rainbow babies in your arms, i promise it will all make sense. Never give up hope 💙

Your gorgeous rainbow boys @AMS19.

Such a lovely idea updating the original thread as it’s one that will always be so close to all our hearts xxx

Lostintranslatio · 29/01/2022 22:23

@Ams19 congratulations on your little boys💙💙💙

My MMC was a horrible experience to go through but now I know that I would not have my little baby girl with me if it hadn't happened.
